OS X will automatically block versions of Flash that are known to be unsafe. As long as Flash is kept up to date, it's reasonably safe. You can minimize your exposure to Flash content by installing the "ClickToFlash" or "ClickToPlugin" Safari extension. Flash elements will then load only when clicked.

I Just got a new labtop and already downloaded itunes onto it, but how do i get all my music onto my new computer?

Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder form your old computer to /Music/ on your new computer.
FYI: It's a laptop because it sets on top of your lap.
Labtop is a roof over a science room.

  • I just got a new macbook pro, firefox is being very glitchy, please help?

I just got a new Macbook pro yesterday.
I took it home and downloaded the newest Firefox (my go-to browser for years), and I'm having some pretty substantial issues.
First, I tried streaming a movie on Netflix last night, and I'm getting a really obscure error message that provides me a list of steps. I follow the steps and nothing happens. I tried watching on Chrome and Safari and they both work.
Next, and this is the one that confuses me most, is when I pull up a video on youtube and take it to fullscreen, The bottom toolbar that gives pause and play options, shows how far along in the video you are, etc, is granulated and slightly obscured. Somehow abstracted, I guess, when it should obviously be crystal clear. I've literally never seen anything like this before, and once again, it's only happening on Firefox. I'm pretty frustrated at this point, can anyone help me?
Before you ask, I've run all my software updates and everything is completely good to go, so that's not the solution.
Thanks for reading, hopefully I can get some feedback soon.

Is it a beep or a chime (or tone)?
When it's powered on, the Mac goes through a POST (Power On Self Test), in which it briefly tests crucial components. A (more or less) musical chime or tone indicates that the POST was successful. If POST fails, what you hear depends on the Mac and the error -- a beep, or several beeps, or even a chord. These articles will give you more info

The startup chime may be a problem if you start your MBP in an inconvenient location. You can mute it by holding down the mute key (F10) until the Apple logo appears.

  • Just got a new Macbook Pro.... now what???

so I just received my new Macbook Pro with 2.4 G and 250 Gig HD which will be used for DJ'ing mostly but also email etc cause I can.....
(Side note) I have been DJ'ing for many years on an Emachine Laptop using PCDJ FX and it works great but the laptop has never done anything but run FX and has NEVER been on the internet... I bout the Mac because I got sick of watching my friends check email right before they performed and just switched over and started performing with no hiccups or issues. (End Sidenote)
but I was getting ready to load my 108 Gig of music onto it through itunes and my neighbor said your going to want to partition the drive first... and when I asked why he said he normally does a 40 Gig partition for the Mac OS, 15 Gig for Windows XP OS and the remainder would be for data that both OS's could use.
doe sthis sound right??? when I asked why mess with all that and worry about running out of space cause I guessed wrong on a partition he said it's good if there is an issue with the OS you can wipe it out without messing with your data etc...
but with good backups I don't see that as being a huge benefit either.
Comments and suggestions welcomed and appreciated.
    John
oh yeah and I'm pretty clueless about Macs these days so you may have to talk slow or be threatened with more questions

    Hi Weid;
    I agree with you.
Don't partition unless you have to for a valid reason because you will always guess wrong as to the size.
Don't install Windows unless you have an overwhelming reason that requires it. I personally don't allow anything from either Microsoft or Symantecs on Macs for any reason. If I can't do it because I don't have their software, I don't do it. That simple.

  • I just got a new Macbook Pro, plugged my iPod into it and lost all my songs on my iPod.  How do I get them back?

I just got a new MacBook Pro, plugged my iPod into it and noticed all my songs didn't transfer, including the 6 new ones I just purchased.  I then brought it back to my PC to sync, and lost all my songs on my iPod.  I'm now receiving all kinds of weird messages that the name of my iPod is a duplicate and cannot be synced (no matter what I put in it).  During the process of loading it on my Mac., a bunch of odd emails were popping up to sync.  I just kept deleting and adding mine.  Is it corrupted? What have I done??? I am a personal trainer and live by my iPod.  Please help.

Your post is abit confusing, especially on getting those weird messages and emails,( assumed in your Windows machine.)
Most likely you have Restored the iPod using the new Macbook pro, using the same name as that in your Windows machine, hence the duplicate name warning, as it is trying to sync Automatically.
If you are syncing your iPod to both the Mac and Windows, you must set it to Manually Manage Music, in the first machine that you setup iTunes with the iPod. Read thsi Apple Support Article
In iTunes, Preference, tick on Prevent devices syncing automatically
Hopefully your music are still in both your iTunes library,
Connect the iPod to the Mac
Restore it (just to fix any filesystem corruption by the Windows end)
Set it to Manually Manage Music
Sync your selected songs in your library.
    Whern sync complete, Eject it
Connect it to your Windows PC.
Select the song in the library
    Sync it.
It should work if your ipod Hardisk is not giving any problem.
    Good luck!

  • I just got a new MacBook Pro, and I tried to bring across my files from my last mac using time machine. After it was done copying I can't find my files anywhere but the space (about 130gb) has been used on my hard drive. Help please!!

I just got a new MacBook Pro, and I tried to bring across my files from my last mac using time machine. After it was done copying I can't find my files anywhere but the space (about 130gb) has been used on my hard drive. Does anyone know how I can get to them? I did change my user name from 'user' while it was copying, could this have something to do with it?

You don't want to do that by copying.
Your best bet, by far, is to use Setup Assistant.  If your Mac is running Snow Leopard, see Using Setup Assistant on Snow Leopard or Leopard.
If it came with Lion, it's a bit different: Using Setup Assistant on Lion

  • Just Got a New MacBook Pro...need advice.

As mentioned, I just got a new MacBook Pro.  I have enjoyed creating videos on my older machines vis imovie.  However, I've hit a bunch of limitations in that program and would like to expand my options.  I'm considering Final Cut Pro X since the cost has dramatically came down.  My question is whether my new machine is really cable of handling it's features or not.  I've noted my specs below.  Please advise.
Also, considering I go with Final Cut Pro X, are there other programs I might consider to further the opportunity for design options and editing?

What are you trying to do?  If you have a brand new machine, you don't need to download and install Mavericks.  You already have it.

I have tried to sync it using iTunes match, this did not work. I would like to have access to my full library without going into the user profile of my old computer, which is on my new computers hard drive. I would like to eventually delete the old profile so that I have more space on my hard drive.
