  • Essbase Service Can't Start

    Hi there,
I am working under Hyperion 11.1.1 and I have error.
I want to start Essbase service in order to use MAXL / Essmsh but the Essbase service can't start. The service starts manually as usual and path to executable pointed to C:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\bin\ESSBASE.exe
when I tried to find the folder and run essbase.exe the error shows that the service name is wrong (Hypservice_1) and not found.
Actually at Windows service, display name is "Hyperion Essbase Services 11.1.1 - hypservice_1"
Anyone has idea about that problem? Please let me know, thanks.

I couldn't capture the windows when I run startessbase.cmd, it runs very fast and disappeared afterwards.
What can I find on essbase.log is something like this repeatedly:

  • When I try to download itunes i get a message that the services can not start and I may not have enough privileges. What is wrong?

When I try downloading itunes it stops with a message that says the mobile service can not start because I may not have enough privileges. What do I need to reset?

    Hello, bradhannan.
This sounds like a possible permissions issue.  Try these steps.  Uninstall iTunes and all of it's components.  Next, download the newest version of iTunes and save it to your desktop rather than selecting run.  Right click on the installer package and run as administrator.  I have included a couple articles that covers how to uninstall iTunes and all of it's components.

  • RAC service can't start after upgrading to 10.2.0.4

    Hi All,
After upgrading to 10.2.0.4 from 10.2.01 (linux32 with 2 nodes), I am experiencing the following:
    1. The rac service (created after the database was created, not the default service) can not start after the database started with "prkp-1030" error.
2.The service somehow is online and available from the "lsnrctl status" command. Further verified that the users could connect to the rac via that service.
    3. The "crs_stat -t" command and the "srvctl status service..." also show the service is not running.
Have anyone seen this problem before? what is need to be done to make it consistent.
    Thanks,
    TN

I found something that might cause this problem.
When I shut down everything (service, db, asm, nodeapps), and start them back on one by one in the opposite order (nodeapps, asm, database). I found out that the service is somehow get restarted when I start the database (when I have yet started the service itself). the lsnrctl status shows that the service is up. but the crs_stat shows the service is down.
My question is that why the service is tied up with the database startup (using srvctl start database -d database_name)?

Sounds like your actual installation of XE failed.  What append when you tried to install it?
True. I removed all the Oracle stuff from my machine using this page's instructions ( ORACLE-BASE - Manual Oracle Uninstall )  and then re-install the XE again and now it is working.
Only problem is that when installing I could not give the Oracle Base directory properly.
I gave c:\oracle as the destination direcotry. Then the Oracle Base is taken as that (c:\oracle), BUT
the Oracle Home comes as c:\oracle\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server.
According to OFA, if c:\oracle is the ORACLE_BASE, then the ORACLE_HOME should be
c:\oracle\product\11.2.0\server_1, but it creates the app\oracle sub-directories beneath the oracle base???
Also, can I install more than 1 oracle XE DB in the same machine? I tried but you only get repair and delete options int eh OUI.

Is there a DBCA which comes with XE. I looked around and I can't find one. Am I correct to say the XE does not have a DBCA?

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sgern/archive/2013/03/21/10404146.aspx reports a simialr issue (in German), but on an RDS server.
The issue described there is that App-V tries to resolve/access a folder GUID int the registry that isn't there.
In the above scenario, it was the Music Library.
Activating the Music Library (causeng the key to be written) and deactivating it right away solved the issue. Of course *your* GUID/feature might be another one.
(and no, Sebastian does not explain _why_ App-V tries to access your favorite music)

I've restarted services (and even the server) tried to reinstall application but couldn't make it work... Have anyone seen anything like this? Is there something obvious I'm missing? This is the first time I mess around with an NMS product, I'm more related to Voice products, so I'm totally lost here...
    Greetings...

    Hi,
Without looking it sounds like a permissions related condition.
    1) What is the OS you are installing on?
    2) What version of software are you using?
    3) Please attach the install log (found in C: on windows)
    4) Please attach the output of 'pdshow -brief' at a command prompt
    If Windows:
    1) Ensure all 3rd party applications are shutdown/disabled when installing
    2) Ensure you are using the *local* Administrator account
    3) Ensure you meet the base requirements
    Thanks

    really appreciate you helps

The issues seems to be related to certificates, but don't think we are using certificates for SQL. You can try the below steps:
    1) Go to ADD OR REMOVE programs and remove all the third party application (which ever is possible) like tookbar etc.
    2) Restart the box and try to start the SQL if it still fails move to step 3
    3) Verify the below registry hive and modify it accordingly.
NOTE:- Take a back of the registry hive before making any change
    To backup the hive:
--Right click on the hive "HKEY_LM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Window"
--Select EXPORT and provide a valid location for backup.
Change the value of LoadAppInit_DLLs to 0 in Reg path
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Keep the value of AppInit_DLLs blank in Reg path
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
    4) Restart the box and try to start the SQL
    5) Verify the below registry hive and make sure the CERTIFICATE is set to blank
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib

  • Vista-windows wireless service can't start......

Hi I have 2 XP desktops and a Vista Home laptop all sharing internet through a lynksys wireless router for weeks. I've had no problems untill a couple days ago, the Vista laptop suddenly couldnt see the network let alone connect to it. The WIFI light is on. Ive tried the useless repair connection button but it says "windows wireless service is not running on this computer" so i click repair only to be told it cant fix the problem. Is ther a way to start the service? I cant find it in services.mcs or msconfig. I ran sfc /scannow and it said there were errors but they couldnt be fixed. Ive tried everything and called Dell tech support but they say it has to be an OS error and all i can do is backup and reinstall the whole OS but I would prefer not to. Any ideas? Please help!!!!!!

    Hi again,
As you all had the same problem, I had it too. I got a nasty virus/spyware and my anti-virus didn't got it.
After removing the virus/spyware, and when I wasn't able to use my wireless internet connection became really really frustrating including the fact that no internet resource was available on this issue.
After investigating a little, I tried to restore my windows services to the original state. After typing 'windows vista default services' in Google I found a script that supposed to do what I was needed. That site contained also a description for each windows service, so this way I found out about the wireless service that was shut-down, and that couldn't be started because of a missing dependency (that couldn't be started using the windows software (I forgot the name for it .
So looking at the script (the one for defaulting the state of windows services), and finding the name for that dependency that was stopped by that mallware, I did it a try and it worked.
So, funny thing, I'm not a windows fan ("Long live UNIX"), my expertise with windows is fairy limited, and with a little luck I figured out.
Why I was so stubborn? I had to chat with my girlfriend
Funny thing though is that some one stoled my laptop 1 mo later and I lost my girlfriend too )
Regarding the answer to the question if your computer is still infected.... I have no idea....

  • DBConsole service can't start

when I start DBConsole , its giving the following error (Window based services).
?Windows could not start the OracleDBConsolertlg on local computer. For more information, please review the system event log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor or refer to service specific error code 2.
Can anyone help me about the resolution?
    Sharmi

Happens to me all the time - when I have messed up the networking on the Windows box. The [my] problem is almost always traced back to the route setup in the Windows config. I typically use 2 network adapters. One will be set to 'extranet' and the other for 'intranet'. The problem is usually that the network route sends the request to the extranet even when I want the request to stay local. My solution is usually to disable the adapter that goes to the outside world, start up the DB Console, enable the adapter.
That said - this is NOT the correct forum for this kind of question. Don't know whether you missed it, but the title of the forum includes the message " (Do Not Post Product-Related Questions Here)"
