"Logon Failed" Exception with CR2008 SP1/SP2 on WIN2008 Server

Hi,
we have a problem running our .NET Application on a WIN2008 SP2 server. The code which works fine
with all VISTA / WIN-XP / WIN7 or WIN 2003 OS. producese an exception when running on WIN2008:
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.LogOnException: Fehler bei Anmeldung. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80000000):
Kein Fehler.
   bei CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ReportClientDocumentClass.VerifyDatabase()
   bei CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.VerifyDatabase()
   bei CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.VerifyDatabase()
   --- Ende der internen Ausnahmestapelüberwachung ---
The problem is absulutely reproducable and occours with evrey report in rh application.
The database is SQL2005.

Easiest way to start to troubleshoot this is to install the CR designer on that server - just as a test. Then try to run the report in the designer. Does it work there? The next easiest way to start to troubleshoot this is to create a one line windows app (crystalreportviewer1.reportsource). Let the report prompt for the logon parameters. Does this win app works? In this way you at least start to determine if this is some runtime issue (CR, db client, etc.) or a permission issue.

  • Exchange 2010 failing to upgrade to SP1, SP2, or SP3

    My host server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. Currently Exchange 2010 is without any service pack. I initially tried to upgrade to SP1 but that failed with the message below. Thinking that I could perhaps skip to SP2 or even SP3 I attempt that

  • Database Logon Failed after first report

    I have a Windows Server 2003 x86 server running IIS6 and ASP.NET. On this server, I have two different web forms set up to export Crystal Reports to PDF.
    My problem is that only one of these reports can run. For example, I open report 1 and can then reopen (generate PDF of) report1 as many times as I want. I cannot open report 2 - I get a "Database Logon Failed" error message. If I restart the server, I can generate a PDF of report 2 successfully and as many times as I want but report 1 will get a "Database Logon Failed" error message.
    Has anyone seen this behavior before? My code is very concise and manually closes the report document (and forces the garbage collection to run) once the PDF has been generated. However, for some reason, the report is staying in memory and is trying to run again even though it has been closed. It is driving me crazy.
    Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

    Let's get the server confusion out of the way.
    A "server" runtime install is an msi file called CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi.
    The msi is in a download called Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - FP x.x .NET Server Install (where x.x refers to SP or FP version (e.g.; Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - FP 5.6 .NET Server Install)
    So, this gives you an easy way of installing the CR runtime on a server (e.g.. Win 2003 server). No CR server (RAS) implication here. To install the runtime, all you have to do is run the msi, provide the keycode when prompted and the runtime is installed. You should see the directory C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\bin created. No pretty interface, etc. If you want a pretty interface, you create your own setup project or msi using the CR msm files.
    Hopefully this clears up the "server" confusion.
    To the actual issue on hand.
    You say this works with older "Crystal Reports viewers" installed on a WIN 2003 64 bit server. My question is; does this CR XI r2 based app work anywhere? Your dev box? Staging server?

  • Authentication Failed Exception while reading mail using POP

    Hi,
    I am using POP3 for reading mails from mail id. When I try to read the mail from Microsoft Exchange server 2007, it is a success. But same code is giving "Authentication Failed Exception" with Microsoft Exchange server 2010.
    One more difference, I figured out. Microsoft Exchange server 2007 is having NTLM as LoginType and code works fine with it. Where as Microsoft Exchange server 2010 is having TLS as LoginType and code is giving "Authentication Failed Exception".
    Line of code which is giving exception is...
    store = session.getStore(providerPOP3);
    store.connect(host, user, password); //throws exception
    Please advice how this code can work with Microsoft Exchange server 2010 having TLS as LoginType.
    Regards,

    Thanks for your reply.
    Yes, I am using javamail 1.4.3. My code is working fine with Exchange server 2007 having NTLM.
    But when I changed the credentials as per mail id configured on Exchange Server 2010 having TLS support, it did not work. Can you please help what code change would be required to read mails from mail id configured on Exchage Server 2010 having TLS support.
    Sorry, if my point seems not understandable as I am as new with these terminologies (mail server and all) as baby with world. :)
    Thanks for supprt.

  • Logon failed with an Access Database

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a Crystal Reports application that allows the user to view previously created reports (.rpt files).  When I use a .rpt file that has a absolute path for the access database files, it works perfectly.  If I use a .rpt file that uses a relative path (i.e. set the database location in the report to 'same as report') the report prompts me to enter the logon information.  If I cancel those dialogs, I get a logon failed error.
    The application copies the .rpt files and access database files and places them in a specific directory.
    I know, for a fact, that the reports work in another program and in the Crystal Reports designer.  I just don't know why I get this error with this application.
    I am using Crystal Reports XI to create the reports.
    The databases are created using Access 95 (I cannot change this)
    The development computer is Windows 7 64bit
    The IDE is Visual Studio 2008 SP1
    The .net language is C#
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Well, that did allow me to set the location.  I am recieving one error when I do that though.  I believe that it has to do with the fact that the file extension for one of the databases doesn't end with the default .mdb.  I solved this, but then I get an error when trying to load a specific report:
    Failed to load database: 0xce0
    Invalid Join Operation
    Would this be due to the change in the databas name?  I wouldn't think so but I want to be sure.  Other reports work perfectly (of course, the report with the error is the important one!).  And the report that gives the error works in the designer and other applications as well.
    Please let me know if I need to start a new thread on this.

  • CR2008 rt on IIS 6: COMException (0x8004100f): Database logon failed

    I have installed the CR 2008 runtime msi on IIS6. It's the initial CR 2008 runtime - not sp0.
    Database = MS SQL Server 2000

    On the first run all the reports run ok.
    If I refresh the page in the browser, all the reports run ok.
    Once the report is displayed, all the reports except one fail when the user clicks on a drill down or changes the zoom.
    Here is the error:
    Database logon failed.
    Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

    On a side note: The BusinessObjects logo has been disabled in the aspx script. But the report that runs ok, once it has been zoomed it shows the logo on the second run and in the subsequent runs. It's almost like there is a new aspx session created. The difference between the report that runs an the others is the database connection which is dfined as (local) while for the reports that fail the database connection is defined via the server name.

    I'm not sure why you'd install the "initial CR 2008 runtime - not sp0"? I would highly recommend installing SP 0 which can be downloaded from here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005985842008E/cr120_mm.zip
    MSI is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005985862008E/cr120_redist_install.zip
    However, there are a lot of assumptions we're making here, the biggest one being that the app works on your development computer and you get the issue once you deploy the runtime(?). Anotehr assumption is that you are working with CR 2008 SP 0 on your dev computer.

    You need to make sure that you are passing the database logon code to the third sub-report correctly.  If you are currently only passing database logon to the main report, it may be that the other two subreports are using the same connection as the main, but the third one is using something different.

  • Getting Logon Failed error connecting to SAP R/3 with Crystal

    I have Crystal Reports 2008 and also the SAP Integration Kit installed on my desktop.  I've imported the transports into my DEV and QAS systems and am trying to connect directly to R/3 from Crystal using the SAP Table, Cluster or Function choice.
    I receive the error:
    Logon failed.  Details: You do not have the necessary rights to design reports against the SAP system.  Please check with your system administrator.
    I'm using a logon that has full rights within SAP.  It recognizes my password because when I try a password that I know is wrong I get a different error message: Logon failed. Detail: Name or password is incorrect.  I receive the same error in PRD even though I have not imported the transports into that client.
    I have Crystal Server but am not trying to use that at the moment.  Just Crystal Reports as a standalone product.  If I've left something out please let me know.
    Thank you,

    The first line = 'Logon failed.'
    The second line = 'Details:...' then a sequence of some Chinese (I
    asssume) characters !
    Kindly advise on how to solve this problem.

    Dears,
    The following is the solution for the above mentioned problem :
    Right Click on the entry of interest among the list of entries in SAP GUI, select 'Properties', click the 'Code Page' tab, select the 'Default' option in the drop down list labeled : 'Language'
    ( The previous option chosen in the drop down list was 'English')
    Thanks.

  • Database logon failed when opening report with parameter values in CrystalReportViewer

    Hi,
    I designed 2 crystal reports: report A contains parameter fields and report B did not contain any parameter
    I can open both reports in development site using CrystalReportViewer control. When I open the reports in testing site,
    I can open report B but can't open report A. It display error message "Database logon failed". When I set EnableDatabaseLogonPrompt
    to true and try to open the report A again, it shows database connection data which was created on report.
    In addition, it is strange that it displays error "Database logon failed" when I click an item in group tree panel of the report B. This indicates that it can load data from database
    in testing site but it connect to development database when clicking items in group tree panel
    All reports connect to database using Windows Authenication. It use dynamic database connection at runtime
    How to ensure the report always connect database using login data dynamically at runtime?
    Below is my code about database connection:
    string strServerName = null;
    string strDatabaseName = null;
    ReportDocument rptDoc = new ReportDocument();
    rptDoc.Load(strFilePath);
    ConnectionInfo connInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    TableLogOnInfo logonInfo;
    for (int i = 0; i < rptDoc.Database.Tables.Count; i++)
    logonInfo = rptDoc.Database.Tables[i].LogOnInfo;
    ReportHelper.GetReportConnection(ref strServerName, ref strDatabaseName, strSystemType);
    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = strServerName;
    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = strDatabaseName;
    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity = true;
    rptDoc.Database.Tables[i].ApplyLogOnInfo(logonInfo);
    rptDoc.Database.Tables[i].Location = rptDoc.Database.Tables[i].Location.Substring(0, rptDoc.Database.Tables[i].Location.Length - 2);
    crvViewer.ReportSource = rptDoc;
    crvViewer.DataBind();
    Development environment:
    - SAP Crystal Reports 2013 Support Pack 1
    - Visual Studio Professional 2012
    - .NET Framework 3.5
    - DDL
    CrystalDecisions.Shared (v 13.0.8.1216)
    CrystalDecisions.Web (v 13.0.8.1216)
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine (v 13.0.8.1216)
    Database connection in crystal report:
    - Database Type: OLEDB (ADO)
    - Provider: SQLOLEDB
    - Integrated Security: True
    Thanks and Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tonylck
    Try  to pass login info to crystal report dynamically as follows:
    using System;
    using System.Windows.Forms;
    using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine;
    using CrystalDecisions.Shared;
    namespace WindowsApplication1
    public partial class Form1 : Form
    public Form1()
    InitializeComponent();
    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    ReportDocument cryRpt = new ReportDocument();
    TableLogOnInfos crtableLogoninfos = new TableLogOnInfos();
    TableLogOnInfo crtableLogoninfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
    ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    Tables CrTables ;
    cryRpt.Load("PUT CRYSTAL REPORT PATH HERE\CrystalReport1.rpt");
    crConnectionInfo.ServerName = "YOUR SERVER NAME";
    crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "YOUR DATABASE NAME";
    crConnectionInfo.UserID = "YOUR DATABASE USERNAME";
    crConnectionInfo.Password = "YOUR DATABASE PASSWORD";
    CrTables = cryRpt.Database.Tables ;
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table CrTable in CrTables)
    crtableLogoninfo = CrTable.LogOnInfo;
    crtableLogoninfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;
    CrTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crtableLogoninfo);
    crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = cryRpt;
    crystalReportViewer1.Refresh();
