Lost iPhone , could that phone be used by a new sim , even if the lost mode is activated on Find my iphone
Lost my iphone4S few days ago , even I have filed a police report with the IMEI code , Later on i signed into icloud ,Find my iPhone shows that it is offline, and all the requested action,lost mode was pending , after some time the phone was switched on for few minutes the phone location got located & even the lost mode got activated but after that i never got any updates from that phone, still my iphone shows it is offline ..so is that possible if somone has restored & a new SIM is installed and activated in my iphone even if the lost mode is activated , if so how could i trace it
If the phone is restored, it's like a brand new phone software/data-wise. You cannot track it.

As I heard, If i get an unlocked iphone 5s, I can use it with my Wind Mobile which i have to have a $40 monthly plan for it. So, I want to buy an Iphone 5s that I can use it here with Wind Mobile and in turkey with my turkish line that supports Iphone. I dont know if you know the procedure in Canada and Turkey. Wind mobile wasnt supporting Iphones until they decided to let people use Iphone 5s with their $40 plan.And as i know, Turkey is the only country that asks you to register the imei on your passport to use it. So, most of people did not know it. so procedures are changing country by country. Are you sure that If I buy an Iphone 5s from a canadian apple store, use it with my wind mobile line and the turkish line in Turkey?

How do I transfer photos and videos from my iPhone 5 or Mac to an inactive iPhone 4S that my granddaughter uses ( it doesn't have Internet connection )
Two steps:
you can first transfer photos from iPhone to computer and then drag them to the external hard drive. For your iTunes library, you can follow:
1. Quit iTunes.
2. Locate your external drive.
Mac: On the desktop or Finder sidebar.
3. Locate your iTunes folder:By default, the iTunes folder is located in:
Mac: Finder > username > Music
4. Drag the iTunes folder to your external drive. This can take a while if you have a lot of items.
6. When the transfer is complete, your iTunes Library will have been successfully copied to your external drive. -
On a BMI flight yesterday, the 4th jan 2012,they informed us that the iphone could no longer be used on the plane even in airplane mode becase of a CAA ruling. Is this true? I t lead to a boring flight without my podcasts.

General Policy: Use of non-Transmitting PEDs
Whilst the use of all PEDs is prohibited during the taxi, take-off and landing phases of flight, (when the passenger seat belt sign is on), use of PEDs that only produce spurious emissions are often permitted during the cruise phase of flight. However, the aircraft crew may require PED use to be suspended at any time, and such a request must be obeyed. Such a case might be if the crew suspects that the PED use is the cause of interference with aircraft systems.
Examples of PEDs that might be permitted to be used during the cruise phase of flight includes:
laptop computers, PDAs and MP3 players (as long as they do not include wireless transmitting functions); and
electronic games, DVD players, CD players, cassette players, video or "still" cameras and calculators.
The use of some mobile phones or PDAs is also permitted by some airlines as long as they are used in the "flight safe" mode only, and this mode is enabled before the PED is turned off before the start of the flight, so that it is already within the “flight safe” mode when it is turned back on in the permitted phase of flight.The restriction on the use of PEDs applies to devices carried onboard by the passenger or provided to the passenger by the crew. It does not apply to time measuring equipment (watches etc.) or implanted medical devices (pacemakers etc.). Any medical devices that include a monitoring feature that includes a transmitting function to a medical centre should have this transmitting feature switched off during the flight – see general policy on use of transmitting PEDs.
General Policy: Use of Transmitting PEDs
The use of PEDs that intentionally transmit for the purposes of data transfer or vocal communication is generally prohibited for the duration of the flight. This is due to the level of EM Radiation generated during the communication process being greater than that caused by the PEDs' spurious emissions, which are normally tolerated.Examples of intentionally transmitting PEDs that are generally prohibited are:
mobile phones, personal computer equipment with wireless wide, local or personal area network (WWAN, WLAN or WPAN) devices, radio transmitters and remote control equipment (which may include some toys).
Some airlines may accept the use of low power devices conforming to the Bluetooth standard during the cruise phase of flight. The transmissions of these have been shown to be no greater than the host PED's spurious emissions.
Some aircraft are equipped with WiFi type Wireless Local Area Networks. In such cases, compatible devices may be used during the cruise phase of flight. Use is not permitted on aircraft not equipped with this feature.
Some aircraft are now equipped to enable mobile phones to be used. Details can be found in the section on Mobile phones. On all aircraft not equipped with these systems, use of mobile phones is prohibited for the entire duration of the flight. -

Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can authorize it's unlocking. Contact the carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

Click Erase device, then enter your Apple ID password. Because the device isn’t lost, don’t enter a phone number or message.If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it’s online. You’ll receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click Remove from Account.All your content is erased and someone else can now activate the device. -

I have just created this account to tell you that nothing would change if you restored your phone.
The first NO SIM nuisance happened just a week ago. Nothing had been done to the phone before that. I pressed HOME + POWER buttons to restart the phone and SIM card was successfully recognized as if nothing had happened. Then I had a lucky week, not reminded of this issue at all.
Today, however, the same problem keeps annoying me. I've used the same method to heal the phone but all I have done seems more like a placebo. So I tried the ultimate solution, restroing it in iTunes.
Ridicuously, the moment I finished basic setup on the newly restored phone, the same NO SIM CARD INSTALLED message poped up.
So IMO, it's not what you should do to erase and restore your phone.
Plus, I called my native carrier and they said no such problems have been submitted. And since my nano SIM card is quite new (three months old), I'm not going to replace it.
I googled this problem and found something on a Hong Kong webpage. The author of that thread points out that there is a flaw in the SIM card tray that prevents the phone from successfully recognizing SIM cards.
And I really hope Apple could probe into this issue and give official solutions other than restarting / restoring the phone like an idiot. -

You have to reset the device to Factory Settings in order to restore it from an iCloud backup. You probably want to back it up as is before you do this.
To do the reset after you have backed up the current device, go to Settings>Reset>Reset all Content & Settings. This will erase the device. If you are signed onto iCloud with Find My iPhone turned on, go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom to sign out of iCloud before you do the reset.
Once you have reset your device, you will set it up like a new phone. When it asks if you want to restore it from an iCloud backup, select the backup you want to restore it from.

Only the carrier can authorise unlocking. You need to contact them.

I backedup my iphone 4 to the cloud before upgrading to an iphone 5. I also backedup my iphone 5 to icloud. I can see both phone's backups side by side on the my screen on icloud. But it will not allow me to restore the iphone 4 backup to my iphone 5. I need contacts from the iphone 4 backup but I do not have that phone anymore and icloud will only let me restore the iphone 5's backups to my iphone 5. Is there anyway to get the contacts from my previous iphone 4 backup?
You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

My old Apple ID is on my iPhone, but this has been transferred to a new Apple ID. The iCloud on my phone is requesting the password for the old Apple ID, but this no longer exists. How do I update the iCloud Apple ID on my iPhone? When I try to get the old passwork through forgot my password, the reply is that there is no account that exists.
Try the following....
Go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. Then log in using a different ID. -

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:
