Mac mail won't receive or send on iTouch

I was sending and receiving with no problems until the end of August.  Then, mac mail on the iTouch stopped sending mail.  I tried changing my password, and now it won't receive mail either.

Did you have a MobileMe account? Did you convert/ transition to iCloud?

  • Can't get mac mail boxes to receive or send

My email stopped receiveing or sending a couple of days ago. I have ATT as ESP & went through their tech support to help me get it back up & running. However, it still does not work with my mac mail. I have to log onto my email through the ATT website. I have deleted and re-created all of my mailboxes - and am receiving emails on my primary account. None of my subaccounts are receiving and none of my accounts can send. The SMTP says "offline" and I haven't been able to get it online. All of my accounts are set up as POP - they were IMAP, and that seemed to be an issue with ATT. I don't carewhich as I don't have other devices that I receive emails on.
Does anyone have advice on how to get my mac mail back to good health?

    Hi cindy2227!
I have an article for you that can help you troubleshoot this mail issue a little further. The article will walk you through some troubleshooting steps to ascertain the root of the issue, and can be found here:

  • Mac Mail won't receive new messages

I have three devices, an iMac; an iPhone and an iPad.  I also use iCloud (but I hate...or don't want to have to go to the web and login to iCloud there to read my mail...otherwise, what's the point of having Mail on all of your devices, right?!?).
There are so many discrepancies between the three devices synching my Mail.  I have emails I read on my iPad and then deleted some.  They show as deleted/read on my iPhone, but they still show as unread on my iMac.  Additionally I noticed that my iMac hasn't received any new mail (including the mail I can see on my iPhone)...for an hour!  I've clicked the "send/receive" mail button a dozen times, but nothing...I can't find a place in Preferences that should correct this.  (And yes, my internet connection is working...)
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Thanks, Ernie... I didn't realize we could control click in the inbox. It just showed me how much space I had used up in each folder.
On a whim, I deleted the account, ran a disk utility, then rebooted. Then I re-added the account, and so far, it SEEMS to be working alright... Got my new email, am able to send out--it seems to be working now.
    Thanks!

  • My mac mail won't let me receive emails but will let me send them. How do i fix this ?

my mac mail won't let me receive emails but will let me send them. How do i fix this ?

I am intermittently having the same problem. I can send email, but once the Mail application is opened, it will only pull emails in from the server one time and then I have to "Force Quit" and restart the application to receive incoming mail again.  I've tried restarting the computer. I've made sure I have all the system updates. I've checked for conflicts between applications and so far nothing fixes the problem. Once in a while, Mail starts functioning normally on its own, but in a few days it goes back to the same old problem. Has anyone figured out what if going on with this isse?

  • TS3276 Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures

My Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures. I get the "whoosh" sound and they show in sent mail, but the recipient doesn't receive them until I take off the signature and resend the email. Without a signature, it is received. It never used to be a problem, but started this past month. Please advise!

Did Earthlink have you try using their authenticated SMTP server?
If not, try changing Earthlink's SMTP server settings to the following:
    SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 25 or 587. Assuming Earthlink is your ISP, 25 should work.
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
Authentication Type: MD5 Challenge-Response. Not sure if this authentication type is available with 10.2 and if not, select Password.
User Name: Your entire Earthlink email address.
Password: The password for your Earthlink email account - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

  • TS3899 While messing with my two step verification I inadvertinely did something to disconnect myself from my gmail account that is on my mac mail.  I can't send or receive any mail

while messing with my two step verification on my gmail account I inadvertently did sometime to my gmail account on my Mac mail.  I can't send or receive mail.  Any thoughts

When it asks for the password, typically this is a random number sent to you via text message from Google.  I get a new code everytime I want to add a new device or log into from a new computer.  It can get very annoyingif you access your account from various computers or devices.  Once its working its not bad though.  You may want to go back in and turn the 2 step authentication off.

  • Mac Mail won't send messages through some accounts

For many weeks I've had to use gmail because Mac mail won't let me go through either my business server or my personal website. I can send if I just use the browser so I know they are working. I've tried various addresses for my out going mail- nothing. I've gone into preferences and disabled those accounts, quit mail, then reenabled them again- still nothing.
My secretary is having the same problem on her Mac mini. Any suggestions?

I've encountered this issue too and I believe it may be an ISP issue. When I set up a new internet provider at my home I was at first unable to send business mail from home. Eventually I solved the problem by calling the ISP and they either made an adjustment or had me change some obscure setting on my computer or modem (it's been so long I can't remember exactly what it was). I still sometimes run into this problem when I take my laptop elsewhere. One way to check and see if this is the issue for you (if you have a laptop) is to take your computer to a coffee shop or some other place with wifi and see if you can send out mail using your business address from there. You also might want to check and see whether you are able to send mail to other addresses within your organization, or whether the inability to send email is across the board. I mention that because I seem to remember that I ran into an issue of some servers being unwilling to forward email that comes from outside to another address that is outside. So if you try to send an email from home, using your business address, to an address outside of your business, it may reject it, while accepting an address within the business.
Hope this helps and please bear in mind that I'm no expert at all.

  • Mac Mail won't send .mac mail

All of a sudden Mac Mail won't send mail from my .mac account through it's mail server even though the MobileMe sends mail just fine.
Anyone know what may be up?
I hate using the mobile me mail.

I experienced the same problem--unable to SEND mail using MobileMe server. Changed to port 587, now seems to work (cross fingers).
I also noticed that I cannot change the incoming mail server name from "mail.mac.com" to "mail.me.com." When I try to change then save, it reverts to "mail.mac.com."
By the way, under the "Advanced" menu, can anyone explain "IMAP Path Prefix"? It's blank by default, I gather. Why might someone use a prefix here? Also the default port is 143 and the "Use SSL" block is unchecked.
    Merely curious.

  • Some sent Mac Mail not being Received

My mac. mail account is receiving mail and indicates it is sending mail but it will not allow me to send my mail to myself (as a test) or to my friend with an active mac mail account. She is having the same problem. In an extra bizarre twist, one small forward externally received mail is able to be sent and received by us both. Neither my friend nor I are getting any error messages on our sent mail. Neither of us have any rules applying to our mail that we are aware of would impact sending and receiving mail. I have tried synching my account, etc.. and nothing seems to work. Can you please help.

Hi. I had this exact same problem, and it had the same oddities yours does. It is an Apple problem, not sure exactly what. But the only way it got solved for me was to write .Mac tech support (be sure it is not their feedback page and also make sure it is .Mac tech support and not Apple). It took them three days, but they finally got back to me and when they did, they gave me detailed instructions that weren't needed, because the problem cleared for me. But not until hearing from them. Either mine was fixed by accident because they cleared the problem for other users who complained or they checked on mine and managed to find the problem.
This cryptic message was included in my email: "Apple has implemented several measures in the .Mac Mail system to help resolve these issues. To assist in our continuing investigation, please inform us in the event that any messages sent from your .Mac account after September 7, 2006, are not received as expected."
There has been some speculation that this problem is being caused by anti-spam software Apple has installed on some servers (to see how it worked—I guess not too well!).
That's all I know about it! There are numerous other threads you can check out for more information, but for me, it was only writing .Mac tech support that made any difference (since the problem was totally on their end).
Another workaround in the meantime—you can change your SMTP server to the server provided for your ISP. I changed it in my .Mac account that wasn't working and it worked fine sending from my Comcast SMTP server.
    Hope this helps!

  • HHHHHEEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!! Mail won't let me send! I HAVE to get emails out!!

I am a finalist in a nation-wide fiction contest, winner gets a publishing contract. Winner is the one w/ the most internet vets. So today I was sending out lots and lots of group emails and suddenly Mail stopped letting me email anything at all. I can get incoming but cannot send out. My husband thinks .Maac thinks I'm a spammer and cut me off. Meanwhile, NO ONE replies from .Mac for days. There's no freaking phone number (uh, hello. Get in the 21st freaking century, Apple). And I will LOSE this contest if I can't send out my emails. Anyone know what I can do about this??? I am starting to loathe apple. This is not the first time that Mail has really given me problems lately...
You can email me at [email protected] if you have any suggestions! thanks!

    You're welcome.
No ISP or email account provider that I'm aware of provides a warning when you are about to reach their sending limits/restrictions.
after all, who the ** reads the entire handbook for .Mac
    subscription services?!
Probably not too many but the "entire handbook" for a .Mac account is only a couple of pages at most which is the same with any ISP or email account provider and it is a customer's responsibility to do so and when we don't read all or at least a good portion of it, we don't have too much room to complain IMO.
I wish I understood what you meant by trying to get around this,
but I am too technologically dwarfed to comprehend it.
Who is your internet service provider that you use for connecting to the internet? Certainly your ISP provides an email account and SMTP server to use for their customers and if so, you can create an email account with your ISP (if you don't already have one) which you can access with the Mail application to receive and send messages with this account.
After creating your ISP's email account with the Mail.app, you can try selecting your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which may get around the .Mac account restriction (which will be reset at midnight) or use your ISP's email account to send these messages but your ISP probably has a similar sending restriction. My ISP has a total number of recipients for all messages sent in a 24 hour period restriction which is higher than the .Mac account restriction.
Can I dodge this by sending things as blind copies?
No you can't. The restriction is for all recipients placed in the To:, Cc: or Bcc: fields. If not, all a spammer would need to do to send bulk spam mailings out to a unlimited number of recipients with a .Mac account is by using the Bcc: field. Most spammers use the Bcc: field anyway but spammers do not use email accounts with such limited restrictions and/or use a large number of email accounts to get around it.
