Some sent Mac Mail not being Received

My mac. mail account is receiving mail and indicates it is sending mail but it will not allow me to send my mail to myself (as a test) or to my friend with an active mac mail account. She is having the same problem. In an extra bizarre twist, one small forward externally received mail is able to be sent and received by us both. Neither my friend nor I are getting any error messages on our sent mail. Neither of us have any rules applying to our mail that we are aware of would impact sending and receiving mail. I have tried synching my account, etc.. and nothing seems to work. Can you please help.

Hi. I had this exact same problem, and it had the same oddities yours does. It is an Apple problem, not sure exactly what. But the only way it got solved for me was to write .Mac tech support (be sure it is not their feedback page and also make sure it is .Mac tech support and not Apple). It took them three days, but they finally got back to me and when they did, they gave me detailed instructions that weren't needed, because the problem cleared for me. But not until hearing from them. Either mine was fixed by accident because they cleared the problem for other users who complained or they checked on mine and managed to find the problem.
This cryptic message was included in my email: "Apple has implemented several measures in the .Mac Mail system to help resolve these issues. To assist in our continuing investigation, please inform us in the event that any messages sent from your .Mac account after September 7, 2006, are not received as expected."
There has been some speculation that this problem is being caused by anti-spam software Apple has installed on some servers (to see how it worked—I guess not too well!).
That's all I know about it! There are numerous other threads you can check out for more information, but for me, it was only writing .Mac tech support that made any difference (since the problem was totally on their end).
Another workaround in the meantime—you can change your SMTP server to the server provided for your ISP. I changed it in my .Mac account that wasn't working and it worked fine sending from my Comcast SMTP server.

    Hi, I use BT yahoo mail through outlook 2010, sent mails show as sent in outbox, i get no error message but they are not going to recipients. I have deleted account and re set up in outlook i am using the IMAP settings as on the BT web site. When i send mail from my apple devices using same e mail account they are recieved ok? Any ideas ?     One solution may be to temporarily change your SMTP server to 
    smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

  • Samsung note II, known issue of aol mail not being received on phone

    I spent hours on the phone with Customer Service this past Wednesday & Thursday because my aol mail is not being received on my new phone. I just did some research online, and found out this has been an issue with AOL and Verizon since December 2012. The Customer Service rep told me this just happened the past week! What a bold faced lie!
    I purchased this phone on or about July 3, and the AOL mail was working fine until this past Wednesday.
    This is a know issue, and yet the lie right to your face about it.
    I had a C/S rep tell me he would call me back later in the day, before he left work. I told him, I have heard that before. Oh, no, I will call you. Of course he didn't call. Your C/S reps think they can say whatever they want, but the calls have been monitored or tracked someway by your computer system.
    I see many others have the same problem with the Samsung Note II and their email accounts.
    Since December this has been going on, don't you think it's time you fixed the problem?
    Two years ago, when I spent $200 on a phone, I said never again. But yet I wanted a 5.5" screen so I paid up! Never again!

    I FINALLY spoke to someone today who was able to solve my problem so far.
    In the PLAY STORE....look for K9 email app.....and download that...put in your AOL email address and password. You should now be able to receive your aol email on your phone.
    It seems he has a Note II also, and had the same problem.
    You would think that MANAGEMENT would tell all their C/S reps how to solve the problem. I guess they would rather lose a customer who has been with them for 10 yrs.

  • Group addressed e-mails not being received

    My new iPad seems to be receiving e-mails that are specifically addressed to me just fine. But, I have noticed that e-mails addressed to a group of recipients (including me) are not being received on my iPad while my computer does. For example, my employer will send out an e-mail to all of the employees (as a group). I can view the e-mail on my computer but the iPad doesn't receive it. And, I'm using the same e-mail account on both. Why?

  • Lines of message in Mail not being received by Windows users

    In the last few days I have started having problems with Windows users not receiving all the lines of my messages. I have been using Mail software for years with no trouble. I think some whole messages that I have sent have also gone astray but it's hard to be sure.
    Can anyone help ?

    It is certainly possible to send/forward attachments that are infected with a Windows virus but your Mac does not have a virus since there are none that affect or infect OS X which just had it's 6th birthday not long ago.
    It is a good idea to place attachments below all message text including a signature regardless if sending to an Mac or Windows PC user since all email clients with either platform do not display attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message.
    But they are not arriving at various recipients, not just only one.
    And this has never happened before. It seems odd that different
    servers should suddenly all start rejecting my emails.
    Yes it seems odd but this is NOT caused by your Mac, by OS X or by the Mail application. Since the messages were successfully sent, the problem lies with the SMTP server being used to send messages with the account or with the recipient's incoming mail server with the latter being the most common.
    Your email address or the domain for the address or a range of computer IP addresses may now be mistakenly blocked by the incoming mail server or domain for these recipients but the recipient's incoming mail server is usually where any such problem lies regardless.

  • Incoming mail not being received

    Hi, and thanks in advance for any assistance rendered!
    Last evening I got a signal that my Mail quota was reaching full, so I set about finding how to move old messages into folders to clear some room for more email to come in. (I have a .Mac account.) That seemed to go fine, but I have discovered that I have not received a single email from that time until this afternoon... and I get daily emails from some sources, but they did not come in!
    I checked account info in mail, and the quota has room for new mail, and the number of messages in the inbox says 15102, and the number of messages in the mail application itself says 15101, but I'm missing more than just one.
    I've done all the connecting checks and all the basic stuff, but I'm wondering how to find email that hasn't arrived but should have...

    as viewed on .Mac with a web browser, and a .Mac
    account that you have created in the Mail application
    on your Macintosh to access these same messages.

    that web view. You can create additional mailboxes in
    that same sidebar, but that's not what I was

    If you are referring to your Mail application and
    creating mailboxes in it, them moving mail to those
    On My Mac mailboxes I described, you will have only
    archived them to your Macintosh and simultaneously
    removed them from .Mac if, when you did so,
    you created them using the On My Mac option,

    in the Mail application.
    Since reading this, I've managed to do both; I've got the messages in folders under my email [email protected] that I created before I contacted Apple Discussions, and then, in trying to follow your careful instructions (thanks!) on my Mail Application, I created a new mailbox locating it in On My Mac, as I think you meant I should do. I then tried to move the first batch of folders on my mail app by dragging them into the new mailbox/On My Mac folder (all of this is being done in the Mail Application, not the browser of .Mac) and now I have two sets of the same folders; one for On My Mac and the one for my email address. Yikes. Can I safely delete one set, if so should it be the ones in the folders under my email address?
    It seems that freeing up only 10 megabyte of room is
    almost inconsequential, and your account will very
    shortly be out of space again. That leads me to
    believe that you didn't create these mailboxes using
    the On My Mac option, or you didn't move very many of
    your stored messages, relative to the 15,000 plus
    messages stored on .Mac itself.
    I did only have time to move a couple of thousand emails, and am in the process of moving more mail... I trust I succeeded, as the quota bar went down some.
    You should have 1024 megabytes of basic storage,
    allocated between iDisk and your .Mac electronic mail
    account. If you click on the .Mac home page and press
    the Account button then log in, you can see how your
    Email storage and iDisk storage options are
    configured. If you press the Storage Settings
    button, you can allocate additional space for
    electronic mail, as long as you have free space on
    your iDisk. It appears that the maximum available
    allocation for electronic mail is 588 megabytes, not
    much more than you already apparently have.
    If you cannot allocate more space for electronic
    mail, you can press the Buy More button to purchase
    up to 2048 megabytes of total storage for $ 49.95 per
    year, or 4096 megabytes of storage for $ 99.95 per
    year. I believe, however, that your best strategy is
    to reorganize (hint: remove) electronic mail messages
    from .Mac and archive them on your Macintosh. This
    requires that you have sufficient available hard disk
    space on your Macintosh, and that you have a strategy
    for backing these archived messages up, as they will
    no longer exist on the .Mac servers.
    Forgive my questions if they seem silly, but am I archiving them from .Mac onto my Macintosh by moving them into the On My Mac new mailbox folders?
    I still see some of the ones I moved into folders still in the .Mac window.

  • HT5361 Problems with @mac email NOT being received by others

    Recently people that I have been sending email to and they are in my address book have NOT been receiving a new email from my @mac.com account.  The emails are in my Sent folder and show they have been sent.  If someone sends me an email and I reply everyone sees it.  But not a new email.  Any thoughts on what I can do to find the problem? 
    I've cleaned up my email, rebuilt my inboxes.  Please help!!  I use my @mac for all my business! 
    Oh - this happens no matter where I send the email from - iphone 5 or Ipad or macbook pro.

    Hi,
    Part of the final question will depend on how you got to have the various email IDs
    If you had an .Mac account and therefore the @mac.com email and then Linked this to @me.com in MobileMe then people can send to either and it will turn up in your mail box.
    The same is true if you then linked the MobileMe @me.com to the iCloud account which moved the @me.com address to iCloud and may have latter given you the @iCloud.com.
    In this case people could send to any of the three IDs and they will be received in your In box.
    You should be able to login to iCloud (the web page) with any of the IDs (they all use the same password) and view the mail from there.
    There should not really be any problem sending from one type of account compared to another.
    I am not aware of any filtering either by Apple on older @mac.com IDs or Google not accepting them.
    In the Window Menu of Mail there is the Connection Doctor which may give further clues.

    I have a primary Yahoo Mail account with 3 sub accounts.  One of the sub accounts will not longer download emails to my iMac Mail.
    However, these emails are being received on my iPhone 6 and iPad3.  I have contacted Apple Support by phone and after they troubleshot the problem, it was determined that it was a Yahoo problem.  I am having no luck with Yahoo Support.   Thank You for any help.

  • Sent E-mails not being shown

    Hi, I have a MBA and since yesterday all the e-mails that I have sent are not being shown in the sent folder. I sent one to myself and I got it so it must be working but how can I see them again after I sent them? Oh and the other problem is that search function does not work the way it used to. When I typed in one word it would show me all e-mails that had that word in them including the ones from e-mail adresses with which had the word in the adress.
    Does anyone know how to get this to work?

    A couple of important questions to get us on the right track.
    1.) What type of email account are you using? Who's the service provider?
    2.) What are you using to search? The Spotlight feature inside mail or the OS-wide Spotlight search?
    The Mail search requires a little tweaking, by default it doesn't give you access to your entire account just specific mailboxes. There are ways to control if you want to search all mailboxes or if you're looking for the text string as the subject (or just content).

  • Mail not being received.

    Hello Everyone,
    I've been helping my aunt with her MacBook anytime she encounters an issue. She doesn't do all the fancy programing or sets specific settings to customize her laptop. All she uses it for is music, internet, facetime, mail, and occasional word processing for my little cousin. She called me with an issue that her password wasn't working in the Mail app on the computer. We opened Safari to go to the mail site, (www.hotmail.com) to see if her password was infact incorrect. Her password was correct, so it's the Mail application that isn't working. Can anyone help us please? I've done everything that I know on my end.

  • Some outgoing mail not being received..

    When I send email, it is marked as 'sent' in the sentbox, but people are not receiving it.. at the moment I am sending a second email to ask whether people have received the first. Sometimes they only receive the first email and not the second, sometimes the second and not the first, and sometimes neither...
    the messages all show up in the sent box as 'delivered' so there is no way of working out which are at fault.. or why!?

    It isn’t clear whether you’re talking about Mac OS
    X’s Mail or about some webmail service, but if a sent
    message doesn’t reach its destination, it could be
    the outgoing server’s fault or, more likely, that the
    message was filtered out by either the recipient’s
    incoming mail server or the recipient’s mail client
    for some (probably spam-related) reason.
    Check that your System Preferences > Date &
    Time settings are correct. An invalid timestamp
    in the message headers could be the reason one of the
    servers involved is rejecting those messages. And if
    the mail client used to send those messages doesn’t
    set the date & time correctly, that could also have a
    bearing on this. .Mac webmail, for example,
    apparently doesn’t add a Date header to the
    messages sent that way, which could very well have a
    bearing on those messages being filtered out at the
    recipient’s incoming mail server.
    We are having the same problem with our Mail program. Some recipients are not receiving emails at all. Some receive one but not another. Yesterday, an email was sent to one person, copying another. Neither received it. We resent. The second time was definitely received by the person who was copied (not sure about the "To"). Then, a couple of minutes, later, the first version appeared in the copied person's inbox. One person has been sent two different emails in two days and we are still getting a "haven't heard from you response." Yet, I know that majority of emails being sent out do go through.
    I have checked the Date & Time in System Preferences to ensure that they are correct. (They are.) I have also thought that perhaps our domain or host has been barred by the affected recipients' email programs. After reading this, though, I am leaning more to the possibility that the problem lies with the outgoing server. It was recently switched to SMTP, and there were problems initially that I thought had been resolved.
    BTW, Mail preferences are set up to pull emails directly from our website's host server and are set out via our ISP.
    I'd like to know how everyone makes out.

  • Dotmac e-mail not being received by some

    I have a variety of e-mail accounts, which use a couple of different servers (relay through my ISP).
    Within the past week, I have sent a series of e-mails from my non-dotmac account to folks with a dotmac account... I get the sent acknowledgement, but then (about 18-36 hours later) I get a failure notice, that the message has been in the queue too long.
    It's only happening when I sent to dotmac accounts, and I do seem to be receiving at least some of my dotmac e-mail.
    I've looked through the forums and can't find quite this issue. It's happening with e-mail sent from both my G4 laptop and my G5 desktop. And since I'm not having problems with other e-mail addresses, it seems to me like it's a dotmac server problem.
    Anyone else with this problem? Anyone with a suggested solution?

    Sent the message prematurely--- in the raw source view, found the 452 error... so for some reason dotmac is marking it as spam.
    I'll deal with my ISP.

  • Sent mail not sent; .Mac mail not receiving

    Having a real problem on several computers. First of all, my ISP assures me that they have not blocked any ports or changed anything about their network recently. And I too have changed nothing recently.
    I am not able to send e-mail it seems from my .Mac account, although the messages appear in my Sent folder and I do not receive any error messages. I am not able to send messages to myself to confirm working order. It also doesn't work if I am working thru the web based .Mac e-mail. I have another e-mail address running thru Mail as well and it seems to send and receive e-mail just fine. Although using it to send my .Mac address a message does not work. I have tried to send my .Mac address an e-mail from another .Mac address that my wife uses to no avail either. Similarly my other non-.Mac e-mail address does not receive e-mail from her .Mac address either.
    Its puzzling. When I take my wife's MacBook to a local free wifi hotspot all e-mails seem to work fine.

    You need to determine if the issue is system wide or isolated to your user account on the computer.
    Create a new user account by going to System Preferences>Accounts
    Click on the lock in the lower left corner. Enter your admin password.
    Click on the + sign and create a new user.
    Go to the apple menu and choose the bottom menu choice to log out.
    Log into the newly created user account.
    Go to System Preferences and choose .Mac
    Enter your user name and password in the fields.
    Close System Preferences.
    Launch Mail and it should be set up automatically and download your mail from the server.
    Test whether you can send and receive.
    If it does not work. You have a system wide issue.
    Your best bet in that case is a reinstall. You need to make sure you don't have other issues.
    Run disk utility from the Utilities folder, choose your hard drive, Verify disk.
    If Verify disk fails let me know.
    If Verify disk passes then repair disk permissions and you are ready to reinstall.
    Do an archive and install preserving user and network settings then do a Software Update.

    Very Strange.  Mail sent to my .me address is recived.  Mail sent to my .mac address is not.  Yet in iCloud I am identifed by my .mac address.

    No, can't be done. Backups will occur when you are home if you are using Time Capsule, or when you connect your Time Machine backup drive.
    Portable Macs back up locally, while awaiting a connection to your backup device. Try it yourself - you can "Enter Time Machine" and browse recent backups even when you are away from your Time Capsule.

    This feature can be disabled in Time Machine Preferences.

  • Updated to iOS 8.1- sent emails are not being received

    I updated to iOS 8.1 and have now found that when I send emails from my iPhone (a 5S), the only place they arrive is on that same iPhone.  I run Yosemite on my Mac, and the emails I send from the iPhone don't arrive, and I send them to others with different systems and they don't get them either.
    I noticed that there were many people who reported this back when they  updated to iOS 7, although I never had that problem.  Nor did I have it under iOS 8 until I did the 8.1 update. 

    No longer a problem.  The emails I sent finally showed up.
