Mail app is crossed out in my Time Machine back up so I can't restore any of my emails. Does anyone have experience with this?

I was having problems with my trackpad on my MacBook and it was also running slowly, so in addition to replacing the track pad, I had them cleanout my system. When I went to restore using my TimeMachine back up, my Mail and Address Book didn't restore. When I tried to access the apps through the TimeMachine backup, they are crossed out. All my work emails and contacts are gone! Has anyone had any experience with this? Any and all help would be appreciated.

This is a medical records system, cloud based. I use Firefox to get into the system, but any browser would work. Other than this problem, Firefox works fine (better than IE, in my opinion).
Patient demographics include their email, which is hyperlinked and should go right to Outlook (my default email program). This works in IE, but nothing happens on the click when using Firefox as the browser.
I queried Practice Fusion, which replied: In regards to your previous question about the email hyperlink in the patient information, it looks this is not something that can be fixed on our end right now. It is the web browsers' responsibility to handle these types of links, and there seems to be something lost in the communication between the Flash engine and the browser. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Don't confuse the threads here with 'typical' experience. Most of the stuff here is from brand new users, and those that have problems, and considering the 30 million pads in use, represent a very small sliver.
If you are having repeated crashes it is really pretty basic. You either have a physical problem with your pad, or you are using too much memory.
The iOS system is supposed to monitor memory, and shut down previously used apps automatically to free up memory for what you are doing now. That part of ios is not perfect, and if an app introduces an unexpected memory load, sometimes it gets over whelmed.
This happens, more often than not, when using safari with multiple windows open on graphic intense sites. It can also happen with a memory intensive game, and residual apps in the background.
Double tap the home key and take a peek at the recently used list, and shut them down completely, and often the problem goes away.
If the problem persists, you may have a software issue, and a trip to the genius bar may be in order.

I had tried COMMAND+ALT+R which led me to directly to INTERNET RECOVERY via wifi. After 1 hour or so it dropped me at the same point.
I've tried MIGRANT ASSISTANCE as well, it kept on LOOKING FOR OTHER COMPUTERS even though I clicked on TIME MACHINE BACK UP USING EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE
so what to do now?
P.S. Guys at MacStore were so careless to even listen to me when I asked them about retrieving back up :(

Not sure if this is a fix, but I tried sending myself a test email from only the Bcc field, and lo and behold it now shows the Bcc field in all sent item previews;
...maybe leaving the 'To' field blank on purpose forced Mail to show it.
Rebooted the Mail program, still there - rebooted the machine, still there. Hope this is still relevant and it works for you too - J.

Time Machine is backup, not an archive. You should not use it to keep permanent copies of things you have deleted from your main disk. Once the original is gone, the Time Machine copy will not last forever. If you want to keep a permanent copy of a photo "offline", you must make a copy of it somewhere.

Hi, does anyone have issues with the Camera app uploading photos to the photo album? This happens after I downloaded iOS8.1.2

I have just updated my iPhone iOS to 8.1.2. Since then, the camera is not able to upload photos to the album immediately and some are even lost. Does anyone have the same issue or know how to fix this?

I found it much easier to have my apps on the last page and let the pre-loaded apps stay where they are on the first couple of pages. While I'd prefer to have my apps first, at least they are all together. I found it far too much work to try to move them around another way, plus it shifts some things around in a way that I did not intend.
BTW, I definitely prefer the Fascinate's arrangement of the icons over the Droid X2, which is always in alphabetical order in a vertical non-stop continuum.

Does anyone has experience with "in Apps"

We developed an iPad App which would go on the market for 6,95 euro. However we would like to use the "in app" to get more downloads. Anybody has experience in this? Is there perhaps an other way to give a large number of apps for free (based on an specific ID)

I wish I could tell you of a happy and joyful experience. However, I'm afraid my story won't put your mind at ease.
Since I bought my iPhone last summer, my vibration-function was very loud. I wasn't aware that this was abnormal until I heard a colleague's iPhone vibrating much softer, more than half a year later.
I first tried to bring in my iPhone in a local Apple Store, but they told me I had to bring it in at Mobistar, since I bought it there.
When I took it back, I saw a very thin hairline fracture at the simcard tray. This happened when I had -carefully- removed the simcard to bring in the iPhone.
I brought in my phone at Mobistar, describing the hairline fracture and vibration problem. They sent it to Dynafix.
2 weeks later, I went to the Mobistar Center, and they told me I had 3 choices:
1. Pay 282€ and get a new iPhone in return
2. Pay 40€ to get it back unrepaired
3. Tell them to throw away the phone
They said that the damage wasn't covered by the warranty. After that, they showed me a picture, taken by Dynafix. I couldn't believe my eyes, the hairline fracture wasn't just a hairline fracture anymore, and suddenly there were much more fractures! I don't know what they did with my phone, but it looks awful now.
I sent emails to Dynafix, but their replies were not covering the point (as if they only read half of the mail).
I called and mailed Apple and Mobistar too, and both ends advised me to send letters, because there were much more similar complaints.
So that's what I'm going to do tomorrow.
It's really really sad, because this rules out buying new iPhones from Mobistar, because as long as they have a contract with Dynafix, you have an almost certain chance of being scr*wed by the repair company.
I hope you haven't sent in your iPhone, because my advice is: take detailed pics of your phone first, and have them signed by the salesman in your local store where you are bringing it in.

Time Machine backs up files, but will not Restore within programs like iCal

Time Machine is working great as a basic backup utility to my external HD. However, I cannot, for the life of me get the restore function to work from within a specific Apple program like iCal or Mail. Every time I click iCal or Mail THEN Time Machine, the 'galaxy' view reverts to the Desktop folder.
This is fine for individual files/folders, but where's the built-in restore feature?

I called Apple today, but the support agent didn't seem to know whether or not Time Machine can open with cascading iCal windows. He had me navigate to a folder under my username where the calendars are located....problem is that all the iCal events and Calendars are encoded so it's difficult to find which events you need to restore and stuff. Basically for me, it's SO much easier to go to
File->Back up iCal. Time machine works good for documents...but Apple really screwed up here.

TS1741 Does anyone have trouble with the Remote app losing contact with the iTunes library after it has been connected and working fine for a while. If I go to the computer and turn off sharing, then turn it back on, it will relocate the library again.

My iTunes remote app on my ipad mini will work fine for a while and then it will lose the library. I then have to turn off sharing on the computer and then turn it back on. This will work for a while and then I will have to repeat the process. Help!

I have just found the problem to be windows firewall on my library PC
I can only presume there has been an update to windows firewall or iTunes
all the relevant programs were on the allowed list
I'm now currently running with firewall turned off on my library PC.
I'll update when i have found the rogue setting.
