Monitor_jdbc_conn.sql - Script to monitor JDBC connections

Hi
We are using oracle11 (11.5.10.2) on windows 2000 server
i need to monitor JDBC connections for that i want to schedule that script which runs every hour and after completion it creates output in a file with unique name.
How can i create such script?

    and downloaded the jdbc driver( i noticed that the msutil.jar and msbase.jar are not in the folder avalable on microsoft site Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver so i installed
    Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC 1st and just changed the jqljdb.jar file with the one available in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver )
    and set the path of the CLASSPATH to a folder which name has no spaces
    and tried Class.forName("com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver");
    and Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    and tried compiling and running with command prompt
    and still have the same exception which occurs at runtime

    tried setting InitSQL value in jdbc source as: SQL exec pkg.func() but it didn't worked and server failed to start.

  • SQL Developer 3.1 JDBC connect to Teradata fail

    I have the 3.1 release of Oracle SQL developer. I have the JDBC drivers for Teradata. I am tyring to get it to connect but it is failing. The error is very nondescript and of not much benefit. When I create the connection and put in the host name, user ID, default db, and password and click Test I get:
    Status: Failure - Test failed: (null)
    Below is the detail.
    I put this same info into another SQL editor to test the drivers and it connected fine. So the driver and the info I am passing do not seem to be the problem.
    Is there any insight into this error. ( I did see a thread about turning off SSO, except it is already turned off so that is not my issue)

    Hi,
    I did a web search for TdgssConfigApi.GetMechanisms null pointer and got lots of hits, but couldn't find any one specific cause. Some had issues with the version of the driver, some with placement of jar files in the correct location (depending on the version, there are 2 or 3), others with the format of the jdbc connect string.
    Try searching for and reading over some of these. Perhaps you can determine if any match your situation.

  • How to directly edit PL/SQL Scripts

    I can't open PL/SQL source files directly into a PL/SQL editor - they're opened as SQL scripts. The tool still seems targeted towards database maintenance rather than developing code held in a separate version control system.
    Whilst technically the PL/SQL source files are just SQL scripts this doesn't make for easy PL/SQL development.
    A change to a PL/SQL source file involves:
    - Open source file into SQL script tab.
    - Choose connection to run script against.
    - Run as a SQL script.
    - Close source file.
    - Navigate to package spec/body in tree browser and open read-only in a view tab.
    - Click to edit object source - opens in new tab.
    - Edit source and compile.
    - Add 'create or replace' at top and '/' at end.
    - Select 'Save As...' and navigate to original source file.
    - Close script window that this automatically opens for newly saved file, and close edit source tab. Same task in PL/SQL developer:
    - Open source file into a Program Window.
    - Edit source and compile.
    - Click save.
    Making a single change is bad enough - try it when you're making substantial changes to a source file and you want to regularly check compilation and save changes.
    Can anyone help make this easier ?

    I can't open PL/SQL source files directly into a PL/SQL editor - they're opened as SQL scriptsIs the extension .sql? Change it to .pls or .pks/.pkb. They seem to use the dumb extension-based system to find out what files they are dealing with, instead of parsing the contents.
    If the code doesn't get syntax coloured, open a function or procedure from database first, that seems to wake him up.
    Also make sure the files are as the same as in the DB (with create or replace, without final slash), so you can compile them directly from the same file-based editor.
    You still have to assign connection and navigate to the PL/SQL in the DB to view compilation errors and run/debug though. There are some requests on the announced SQL Developer Exchange for these (http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:37:260789750723810::NO:::). Please vote for them to see them implemented.

    We have recently installed BEA WebLogic Integration 8.1 with SP4. Our first implementation of BEA WebLogic Server was with 6.1 with SP3. The JDBC Datapool connections to our SQL Server showed the Hostname of the physical machine the BEA Server was on, in addition to the application it was using to connect with. The current implementation of 8.1 with SP4 shows the IP address instead of the Hostname and DOESN'T show the application that is being used to connect with. Is there any way to force it to show the hostname and the application it's using to connect to the SQL server via the JDBC connection pool?

    and load the sql script for creating a schema creating the tables and populating the tables with the data.
    Is it possible through some java jdbc for connecting to the mysql server and creating the schema and creating the table structure and populating the tables with data.
    And if there is any error display some message.

  • Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Connection with Enterprise

    I'm trying to establish a JDBC connection to a SQL Server 2005 database server within XML Publisher Enterprise with no luck. What I have defined is:
    url = jdbc:sqlserver://servername where servername is the database server name
    Database Driver Class = com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    And I have placed the sqljdbc.jar file in the c:\OraHome_1\jdk\jre\lib directory as the help file states to do. Bounced the server, but still no luck.
    Is there a log file for connection issues to help point you to the potential cause?

  • Configuring RAC-aware JDBC connection in Oracle SQL Developer?

    How can Oracle SQL Developer be configured to properly connect to an [Oracle RAC|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_RAC] environment, I.E., not just setup to always connect to one of the individual nodes?
    [http://programmersjournal.blogspot.com/2008/08/jdbc-connection-string-for-oracle-rac.html] has an example of a classic and the equivalent RAC-aware version of a JDBC connection string. I've already been using a RAC connection string of the same format from within custom Java applications without issue. I thought the same should be configurable in Oracle SQL Developer by setting the "Connection Type" drop-down to "Advanced", then entering the RAC-aware JDBC connection string as the "Custom JDBC URL". However, upon testing the connection, the following error is displayed at the bottom of the dialog:
    Status : Failure -Test failed: Io exception: NL Exception was generated
    There is no additional information shown on the "Logging Page" view. Using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.5.

    JDBC 101: How to connect to an SQL database with JDBC
    Introduction
    If you're interested in connecting your Java applets and applications to standard SQL databases like Oracle, Informix, Sybase, and others, JDBC is your ticket to paradise.  The combination of Java's JDBC and standard SQL makes a simple and powerful database solution. JDBC makes the simple things easy -- without making the complex tasks too difficult either.
    In this first article in our series, we'll show you step-by-step how to establish a connection from your Java programs to an SQL database using JDBC. In the process we'll show you how to connect to two different databases -- Mini SQL (mSQL), and Interbase -- just so you can see how the code changes when you switch from one database to another.
    Obtaining the JDBC driver
    Before you start working with JDBC, you'll need a copy of the Java JDK. If you don't have it already, you can get the JDK for free at Sun's Java web site, or it will also be included with many IDE's that you can purchase, such as JBuilder or Visual Cafe.
    Once you have the JDK, the next thing you need to do is to get the correct JDBC driver for your database. In most cases the JDBC driver will be provided by your database vendor. For instance, if you purchase the Interbase database, the driver will be provided with the software, or you can obtain the most recent version at http://www.interbase.com/.
    (An exception to this rule is Mini SQL, or mSQL. Because it's a very low-cost database, the JDBC driver has actually been developed by a separate group of people, led by George Reese at imaginary.com. You can download the mSQL JDBC driver from the imaginary.com web site.)
    Once you have the correct JDBC driver for your database, install it according to the instructions that came with it. Installation instructions will vary somewhat for each vendor.
    Establishing a connection is a two-step process
    Once you have the correct JDBC driver installed, establishing a connection from your Java programs to your SQL database is pretty easy.
    Regardless of whether you're trying to connect to Oracle, Sybase, Informix, mSQL, or Interbase (or any other JDBC data source), establishing a connection to an SQL database with Java JDBC is a simple two-step process:
    Load the JDBC driver.
    Establish the connection.
    We'll show you two examples just so you can see how easy it is, and how little the code changes when you migrate from one database server to another.
    A Mini SQL Example
    Listing 1 provides the full source code required to establish a connection to a mSQL database on a server named "www.myserver.com".

    What's the difference?
    The difference between the two source code listings is very small, so we highlighted them in a dark blue color. The only difference between connecting to the two databases is:
    The name of the JDBC driver.
    The URL used to connect to the database.
    Everything else in the two source code listings -- except for the comment at the top -- is identical. Here's a slightly more detailed discussion of the two differences:
    1. The JDBC Driver
    The name of the JDBC driver will be supplied to you by your database vendor. As you can see in the class.forName() statements, these names will vary. In the first case we're using the mSQL-JDBC driver. In the second case we're using the JDBC-ODBC Bridge driver supplied with the Interbase server.
    2. The URL
    The syntax of the DriverManager.getConnection() method is:
    DriverManager.getConnection(String url, String username, String password);
    The username and password are the normal names you use to log into your database. The URL you use will again vary with the database you use. In both examples shown, we're establishing a connection to a database named contact_mgr. (We'll use this database for all of our examples in this series of JDBC articles.)
    If you stick with standard SQL commands, it can be very easy to switch from one database server to another. In fact, I've heard from several developers who are using mSQL to prototype their software (because it's so inexpensive), and then switching to another commercial vendor when it's time to take their product "live".
    Conclusion
    Establishing a connection to an SQL database with Java JDBC is a simple, two-step process. The process is nearly identical for all SQL databases, and the only real differences are (a) the driver name, and (b) the URL used to connect to the database. Your database vendor will provide this information in their documentation.

    I have the same problem but I have ConnectionManager 11g (11.2.0.1.0) , which doesn't know the setting for AUTHENTICATION_LEVEL=0
    And I have to use JDBC, so the OCI/Thick-driver is no option for me.
    The same error is raised when I use JDBC with Eclipse,...
    SQL-Plus over the Connection-Manager works without any problems.
    The ruleset of my cman.ora is:

    Using Windows XP/Vista...
    After testing in our environment, it appears that SQL Developer 1.5.1 (5440) does in fact ignore the TNS_ADMIN environment variable and ONLY looks in the Oracle Home directory (network/admin). We define a central network location for our tnsnames file and have the tns_admin setup to point there instead of locally for our users.
    When selecting to add a new connection (in 1.5.1, it works in previously releases... meaning 1.2.something) and selecting TNS, the drop-down remains empty. However, if I exit SQL Developer and then copy the tnsnames file to the local network/admin directory I can then re-launch SQL Developer and the drop-down is populated. Exiting SQL Developer again, deleting the local copy of tnsnames, and then launching SQL Developer yet again results in the drop-down being empty.
    All other Oracle-related applications function as expected (as they have for years) using the TNS_ADMIN environment variable.
    Any suggestions/ideas?
