My experience with iPhone 4

Hey ,
Thought it may be useful for some on my own personal experience with the new iPhone 4.
Bought the iPhone 4 last Friday , was please upon my purchase, excited to upgrade from my iPhone 3G to all the nice new features.
Firstly I was quite pleased with the new sleek design and the feeling of a quality product in the grasp of my hand. I proceeded to turn on the phone and was greeted by a new display with nice clarity and detail. The first thing in my mind to do was to check out the new camera and video capabilities, I was quite impressed... That is until I took a photo with a White background which then revealed orange spots.
As soon as I seen the orange spots on the screen my first reaction was to search the Internet to see what the he'll they were, upon my search I disciscovered it was the bonding agent and that it should disappear within a couple of days. Not being too happy with paying a premium price for a premium product and receiving sub standard quality my intention was to bring the phone back to the apple store for a replacement the following day.
Before I made a return to the apple store I thought I would see what other users were experiencing if anything , as always with new products introduced on the market there could be some teething problems. I wasn't disappointed, I found that there is a major issue with the antena and dropped calls as well as the proximity sensor issue, both of which I had been experincing.
The antena issue was only a concern when I indeed held the phone in my left hand and not the right, however like many I wasn't satisfied that the phone could only be held in a certain way so that it was useable, this disappointed me further and made my mind up that bringing the phone back was the correct decision.
The proximity señor issue might I add was quite frankly irritating as my face would end calls.
Upon my arrival (Sunday) I was met by quite an arrogant sales rep who I explained my issues to, he insisted that he couldn't help and that I would need to make a genius bar appointment to see one of the many highly trained , military style technical wizards. All I wanted was a replacement but no an appointment need to be made and the only slot available was the following Thursday. Now usually my experience with faulty products is bring it back and get it replace there and then, not through appointment, however I appreciated the fact that the phone was in much demand and there wasn't much I could do until my appointment.
On the Thursday I arrived at my appointment at the genius bar and explained my issues to the technical guy who was much more helpful than the previous sales rep. He replaced my iPhone 4 merely for the fact of the proximity sensor and not orange blobs or antena issues. As a result of the replacement the orange blobs and proximity sensor issues have been resolved, however the antena issue still remains.
My situation at the moment is quite confusing, do I bring the phone back and get a full refund in mind of maybe having the phone on a lengthy contract while it actually can't make calls or drops calls if held in a certain way, or do I wait and see if the apple software fix resolves the problems. Idealy the software fix will come within the time frame were I have the ability to bring the phone back for a refund. I think many are in the same :position as myself.

i am having sort of the same issue. as of now, i already have to send my phone back after one day of usage because i can hardly hear the other person on the other end of the phone. when i make or receive calls, have to turn up the volume to it's highest to hear anything at all. And from what i hear, it sounds like the person is a 100 yards away. my hands don't even touch the outside black line. and i still can hardly hear them. are you having this same issue?

  • Anyone here have good experience with iPhone compatible Ip Cameras?

    Hi
    i wanted to know if anyone here actually owns a decent camera they can recommend with a iPhone that records to SD remotely or when motion detection is activated (remotely), has night vision, an zoom tilt or simply works so good and you can use a few at the same time.
    i tried a few lower end linkseys and d-links models as well as rimax fixed and wireless models, all which where a mess to set up since the software was written for PCs and some only ran on internet Explorer which does not exist on mac osx any more.
    So please let me know
    Cheers

    How does working in wide screen seem when you want full pages?
    I have a Dell 20+ (24", I think) at the office. It is 9:16 ratio and a delight to use with InDesign. I regularly compose with binding in mind, so this allows me to have pallets open and view the full spread at the same time. However, if you are needing large type on your icons and menu bars, then you will lose a lot of real estate. I'm not sure you will be able to get the full benefit I receive. I have the resolution set to the monitor's native resolution.
    At home, I work with a 15" laptop (9:16) and a second monitor (4:3) that is the same width as the laptop. The second monitor is an LCD and very old (hardware age), so it doesn't do well at the same resolution the laptop does. But the laptop is shorter than the old monitor. Anyway, I do my page view on the laptop because of the better resolution. I put all my menus and pallets on the other monitor. This works well.

  • Re: iTunes 11.1.2 keeps crashing when sync with iPhone 5

    I'd updated iOS7 (the latest), Maverick and iTunes 11.1.2. While everything is working fine independently, when I try to sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes, it just hangs at "Finishing Syncing..." forever. A few minutes later, iTunes just quit unexpectedly (crashed!!!).
    I repeated syncing a few more times but same thing happens. I have no luck so far but wonder if anyone has similar experience with iPhone 5 or any other model and if a solution is found.
    I will not sync any more until Apple has an update for any of their software to fix this. iPhone is backed up in iCloud so I am safe but I would like to change music from time to time but it seems a little unstable so far

    I have discovered the specific cause of my issue (cannot sync photos).
    We have two networked computers.  All the latest versions are on both computers. (Mavericks, iTunes 11.1.2, iPhoto 9.5, IOS 7.0.3)
    The iPhoto library is on a separate hard drive attached to Computer1 via firewire.  Syncing to IOS devices works fine from Computer1.
    Computer 2 on the network (ethernet) uses the same photo library for iPhoto (iPhoto on Computer2 accesses the iPhoto library on hard drive attached to Computer1).  iPhoto works fine on Computer2, no issues.  However, when trying to sync photos to an IOS device via  iTunes from Computer 2, the photo part of the sync hangs up on "Importing Photos", runs forever, and always causes an iTunes crash after awhile.
    I copied the iPhoto library directly to the hard drive on Computer2, and redirected iPhoto on Computer2 to use that copied library now on Computer2.  iTunes could then complete syncing from Computer2, including photos, with no problem.
    So iTunes has a bug syncing photos to an IOS device when the photo library used by iPhoto on that computer resides on a different networked computer (accessed over a home network).  Note this all worked fine prior to upgrading Mavericks, iTunes, and iPhoto.
    Note that iPhoto has no problem with this configuration.

  • After bad experience with HTC Inc, should I move to IPhone4 or give HTC Inc2 a shot?

    My HTC Incredible is officially dead.  I can't get to the screen to do a hard reset since the phone keeps resetting continuously.  The phone is 1 year 2 weeks old.  No warranty left, so I am stuck buying a new phone.  This is the first phone I have owned that died.  My previous phone was a Motorola Q and it lasted for three years with no issues.  My experience with the HTC Incredible has left a bad taste in my mouth!
    So I've got a couple choices it seems for a new phone.  The IPhone4, HTC Incredible 2 or Droid X.  I have absolutely no experience with IPhones.  I have an IPOD nano which has worked fine.  Anyway, I am looking for some feedback on the pros and cons of either of these phones.  Am I being unreasonable ditching the android phone altogether?  I actually loved the HTC Incredible when it was working.  I liked all the apps on the android market.  I liked the GPS feature using google maps.  What I didn't like was the poor battery life.  I had to have a charger at home, my car and at my work desk.  I was just about to upgrade to a bigger battery when my phone died.  And of course what I hate is that it lasted shortly over a year.
    I am going to have to buy another phone in the next few days.  My wife is up for a phone renewal so I'll probably use her upgrade to get a new phone.  I'll seriously consider getting an extended warranty as well to cover the phone up to two years
    Thanks for any feedback.

    So my bf has a apple Iphone 4 and I have a droid incredible. My phone kills my bfs Iphone as far as potential functions are concerned. At the same time... HTC/android boost of all the things it COULD do without mentioning the fact that not ALL phones can actually handle all of these things perfectly.
    So whats the result of this? I'll give you some real life examples
    Crap battery life bc the phone does way too much. For example, my google maps does turn by turn navigation and is way easier to use than the google maps on my bfs IPhone 4! HOWEVER, at least the iphone doesn't randomly restart mid-navigation bc if you have turn by turn navigation/GPS on the battery gets hot and the phone crashes and reboots like it does on the droid inc. (not the only one with a restarting problem with motorolla/htc phones.. plenty of forums dedicated to this and the people in the verizon store told me this.. but this is NOT an common issue on the iphone)
    Phone been unplugged since 10 am.. I leave for camping trip around 2:30 pm.. I use the internet and google maps to navigate on and off to see if we are close/going the right way/find stores off interstate occasionally on our 3 hour road trip.. browser/app is easy to navigate and lightening fast. We arrive 7 my phone has 10% battery life...  Do the same thing on iphone for another trip google maps/internet to look up addresses etc.. his phone has been unplugged since 5 am (and we both played wordfued off and on all day).. its 10 pm.. his phone is at 55%! We use his the rest of the camping trip since mine DIED and plugs are hard to come by.
    Finding somewhere to eat after clicking a website link on urban spoon app.. his phone won't open up menu on the website bc it uses flash..my phone opens up the menu.. as I scroll through it or try to look at a different part BAM! browser closes out!! try again.. same thing.. ocassionally phone restarts.. battery too hot maybe? In the end.. we didn't really get to look at the menus too close but I did get an idea of what they had from that preview I got before the browser crashed!! (opera, stock browser, dolphin HD) and im a bit annoyed bc my phone restarted and I am thinking I SHOULD be able to view this!
    So what do you want this phone for?? Do you want to add an extended battery.. BTW.. its going to make your phone really fat/ugly and defeat the purpose of the slim design. If so the droid may be more useful.. but be aware that HTC is not as polished as apple although they are definitely innovative.. Thus its only a matter of time before something else goes wrong. Do you want a phone that is comparatively overpriced but extremely simple.. can't do much to it but it is rather useful and it doesn't have a removeable battery (because it never needs a battery pull!) You can get an app to do anything and everything you ever dreamed on the droid w/o voiding the warrently!.. but it might also do more than you dreamed by forcing its self shut or sending your phone into restart mode or freezing it. You can do a lot with Apple aps (whatever apple allows you to do if you dont jailbreak).. but you might have to pay for it by ruining your warrently with jailbreaking or literally as many free apps on droid cost money on iphone.. So you decide what is important to you.. doing everything  you could want with your android phone (and sometimes nothing as it is not the most reliable device) or several things on your simple iphone??

  • Miserable experience with replacement LG Fathom, that replaced defective TP2

    Freezes
    It does freeze.
    Alarms don't work right
    I use the alarms & those didn't work right. I had set 1 for 9:30 pm & 1 for 10 pm,  The 10 pm one got up to 12 alarms--even though only 1 was set. Tech support wanted me to do a hard reboot but wasn't very thrilled about that as I would then have to reinstall software & re-set up linking & set up email all over again.
    After awhile I turned off the alarms. But they still went off. I did check--they were turned off. & then it got so the 9:30 one would freeze the whole phone. I couldn't activate the buttons to make it stop or snooze---they didn't respond & the whole phone was frozen so I would have to reset.
    Finally I deleted both alarms & set them up again. Working better, but again the 9:30 one has about 6 alarms that go off so I have to stop each one. I think one time I stopped all & the 10 pm one didn't go off. They are supposed to help remind me to start windiing down--the 9:30 one & then to seriously shut down the computer & get ready for bed.
    Sometimes they don't seem to go off or accidentally get turned off.
    Volume buttons can get bumped & turn to silen so calls missed
    Another issue is that the volume up down buttons can get bumped. A while ago I was trying to set up a drs appt I think it was & was waiting for a call back. I finally called them back when I hadn't heard. I think they said they had tried to call. Later I saw that they had--4x but I discovered the volume was turned off so I missed those important calls.  Not good.
    The keyboard is not very nice.
    Downgrade replacement for defective TP2
    This was a replacement for my defective Touch Pro 2. I had paid for that top of the line phone, & in CA we have to pay sales tax on the full list price!  Someone (obviously going by the specs, not actual usage) raved about how this phone was supposed to be so super. NOT.  The list price was about half that of the TP2. It doesn't have the digital voice recorder the TP2 did, nor a lot of the HTC features that I liked & used like the automatic vibrate for appts that were listed as busy. & I really miss the way that I was able to set several cities up in world clock & then I could easily see what time it was & what the weather was. Nice when friends were in those ciities.
    The keyboard on this is smaller & I keep getting periods in the middle of the sentence when typing emails which then makes the next letter a capital &makes it hard to read. It has 1 less row in the keyboard. The phone is smaller than the TP2, so easier to carry, but harder to see.
    Someone called me on Thanksgiving & I didn't recognize the area code, but I was trying to answer & must have accidentally used the wrong slider so the call disappeared. Then there was some icon at the top, but it was so small I couldn't really tell that it was a voice mail indicator, so I didn't check until way late at night.
    Verizon called this an upgrade--even though it was actually a replacement for a top of the line phone (the TP2 was a cool phone, if only it had worked well but it got so that it would randomly change orientation while I was trying to read an email, & it got so the backlight wouldn't always come on & sometimes even after pressing it multiple times) but I would call this a downgrade. While the processor is about 2x as fast as the TP2, it doesn't really work noticeably faster. I guess that's the winmob OS.
    Win mobile issues
    & of course then Microsoft did a # on users of WinMob 6.5 when they came out with Windows phone 7 which is totally incompatible. So phones that ran 6.5 can't run 7 & the software is incompatible. I had gotten it for busines where we had aps that needed 6.5.
    It has been a miserable experience with both of these phones, when I bought the TP2 I went for the premium phone, planning to keep it for over 2 years. Instead it had multiple issues its 1st year which I put up with for months. Finally got the replacement Fathom, which again, Verizon kept calling an upgrade but its really a downgrade.  I had paid for a top of the line phone, & got an inferior phone, smaller keyboard, & screen, less features & it doesn't work so well.
    Are smart phones less reliable than regular cell phones?
    I don't know if smart phones in general are less relaible than regular cell phones or what, but my experience has been very frustrating all the way. These are supposed to be productivity enhancers. Instead I've had way too many issues, & often tech support, while usually nice & trying to help, they didn't always know what they were talking about.
    Want a reliable smart phone that does what it is supposed to do--feel ripped off
    So I'm frustrated with this not very reliable phone & want to get a reliable phone. But I sure wasn't planning to have to buy a new phone this soon. My previous phone was a basic LG flip phone with speaker & no camera & that thing just worked so I kept it for about 5 years until I needed the win mob phone for biz. I no longer need it for that, & it isn't working very well, but I don't really want to spend the $ for a new phone right now.
    Really frustrated with the bad experiences with both phones.  I feel like I didn't get what I paid for & again I went for a top of the line phone, intending to keep it for several years, not expecting all the problems I've had with both phones. btw, the Fathom retail price was about half that of the TP2, even though the 2 yr agreement price was the same. but in CA we pay sales tax on the full retail.
    I would like to be able to get another smart phone that is really reliable like an iPhone, but really wasn't planning on buying a new phone this soon.

    Greetings caatkins4,
    When your phone is the lifeline to your job, it would be most frustrating to experience issues such as the ones you've described, especially if you do not have a back up in place for when things go wrong. All of our phones are tested to make sure they meet the manufacturer’s specifications before being sent out. It is regretful to hear that the refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 3 you received may not have met these specifications once it was in your hands.
    I was able to review your services when I located your Geek Squad Protection plan with the email address you registered with the forum. Unfortunately, at this time we would only be able to provide you with another replacement. It appears we've already created the service order necessary, and presently, it appears that a tracking number has been created for your replacement phone. It should ship soon if it hasn't already, as it sometimes takes up to 24 hours for UPS to update their shipping information.
    I apologize if this is of any inconvenience to you. If you should have any questions, please feel welcome to reach out to me.
    Respectfully,

  • My experience with the Z2

    Hi there!
    I decided to register on this forum as to be able to share my personal experience with the Sony Xperia Z2 thus far.
    To start i want to make it clear that i personally believed this phone offered a rather good experience at first, unfortunately like some other users i too started to notice the phone had its issues which needless to say take away from this 'great' experience it has to offer.
    So lets begin.
    The first Sony Xperia Z2 i received had a lot of issues, this one was a 14w20 version:
    - The device had quite a few scratches on the sides OUT of the box, which nearly made it impossible for me to return it .......
    - The MicroSD flap was not leveled and would stick out very noticeably
    - The Camera lens was not centered
    - The phone had gaps in the upper right corner and the lower left corner which were also very noticeable
    - The phone would not record 4k longer than 2 minutes before it would heat up ( tried multiple times )
    - The pictures would have a very strange colour to them, sort of neon'ish
    - Charging was extremely slow, i specifically used your standard usb cable and i used the Z2 dock, neither had effect
    - The back side would make a very annoying squeeking sound when pressed, even slight pressure would do so
    - The WiFi would be terrible, since i travel a bit i tried it on different networks with pretty much the same results at home and at the office, my other devices have no issues whatsoever nor have they ever had any issues like this device
    - The call quality was rather mediocre, quite a few contacts noticed during calls that they had to concentrate more in comparison to my other devices as to understand what i was saying
    - The 'close cover message' which pops up once you open your flaps would appear out of nowhere, whilst my flaps were closed properly
    To be honest with you there were other issues as well but i think the upper list is rather enough to understand the interest for a replacement.
    And so i did, i had this one replaced for another one, i was barely able to convince my supplier to replace this one due to the scratches it had which they would not believe were present on the device out of the box.
    The second Sony Xperia Z2 was also a 14w20 and.. unfortunately.. it too has issues :
    - The gap issue is present on this one as well, same locations as aforementioned but a tad smaller
    - Recording in 4k now has increased up to 4 minutes before it stops recording, i find this unacceptable
    - The mechanism for open flaps is a good idea were it not for the fact that this device also keeps saying the flaps are open. When they are not I could configure it to stop notifying me but what if some day i go swimming and i believe the flaps are closed since the device does not say they are open and i take a dive? I find this very inconvenient ..
    - Call quality has not improved, my contacts say it sounds muffled and after asking my partner to switch our phones and try calling i totally agree it sounds muffled and one has to concentrate as to understand what the other side is saying ....
    - The WiFi issue is present on this device as well, now i noticed that i have to shut it down and power it back on again as to 'fix' the issue with streaming, i experience it on YouTube, Netflix, Facebook videos and others.
    I also noticed that it d/c's often than not, i tried downloading a 10gb file as to see what happens and it literally stopped
    more than i can count. My other devices do not have this issue... tried this at home and at the office as well.
    - The battery charging issue continues on this one as well, to be sure that it is not related to the electricity at home i took the dock with me everywhere i went and charged it where i could, needless to say it did not matter at all
    I encourage people to test their phones and decide for themselves and not just buy into what i am saying, remember this is my experience with it and yours can be different.
    For me, unfortunately.. i will be returning this one as well and will consider purchasing something else but nowadays it seems personally that quality is hard to find..
    /xiLuS

    I'm far from impressed with mine. Very similar issues and also a cracked bezel. Unless my issues are resolved I'll be going back to an iPhone. At least if there is a hw problem they swap it out there and then. None of this sending away and being without you phone rubbish.

  • My experience with the N97 - "my last Nokia"

    Hi everyone,
    I know this is a user-to-user support forum but I believe a complaint to be some sort helps users to decide whether the N97 is for them or not. Before you read on, this post will contain comparisons to competitors, so if you hate apples, feel free to ignore me! (Also I don't think users should stop harassing Nokia for what they have done to us - the more complaints the better. Igoring customers is not a very good corporate strategy. Eventually it will take them down - people buy Nokia for quality, otherwise they could buy a rip-off from ebay).
    Just skimming over the posts shows me that I am not alone. So let me share my experience with Nokia and the N97. I am too tired complaining about this phone, at least I think my experience has made sure that no-one of my friends and relatives is ever going to buy a Nokia again.
    When I bought the phone for then 500 pounds at the Nokia flagship store in London it seemed nice enough. Good camera, decent keyboard and features competitors could only dream of. Unfortunately, that's paperwork. For a start, the much advertised facebook application was completely disfunctional and taking into account that Nokia clearly tried to compete with the iphone (my apologies again for mentioning a competitor) frankly a lame joke. I know a firmware update has somewhat relieved the situation now, but I will come to that later.
    Okay, so I have disabled the facebook application. Not a drama, surely the rest will work okay. But then after a week some of the pictures I took with the built-in camera weren't accessible anymore (broken image displayed). Again, I have another camera and I was hoping for a firmware update so I ignored it. I had now started using the joikuspot app to browse the internet on my linux box. Very nice. I started using email a lot on my phone but again was disappointed. I have a £165 ipod touch here. Without kinetic scrolling and an extremely bad UI design, by which I mean the icons and menus (ignoring the graphics flaws all the time) it is no match for the ipod, so what i did was to use joiku spot with my ipod touch. Before that firmware update the N97s browser was also still buggy so I used joikuspot for that too. I was now down to using my £500 smartphone as a wireless modem. What a shame. But I was still hoping for some kind of magic update.
    Then finally, I found out about the firmware update. I had to open my phone, check the serial and visit the Nokia website. Unfortunately, the Ovi software and drivers supplied with the phone did not recognize my N97 properly. Something which I think was fixed with the firmware update (anyone seeing a circular dependency here? ) Furthermore, the built-in firmware update over 3G seemed to be disabled. So I made the journey back to the flagship store in London, explaining the problem. I was greeted by an extremly rude employee. Well, I think that's not really his fault, I guess he was just sick of all the complaints. Anyways, I told him that the 3G update was not working and he started to be really patronizing telling me that I wouldn't listen to him (he said it was "working" but "disabled"). Maybe I should have told him that I am a software engineer and that in 99.9% of the cases in which we disable a feature, the reason is that it is "not working". Anyways, he kindly allowed me to use one of their machines to update the firmware "at my own risk", which worked. At no point I have received an apology for the fact that I have paid Nokia £500 to beta-test their products.
    Now of course, the firmware update has succeeded, but is all fine? Far from it.... As many report on this forum the N97s battery meter is faulty. Countless times, my phone has just literally died overnight. It even forgets time and date! This is more than bad - every phone I have had so far complained about a draining battery well in advance. I had to dig out my old phone to serve as an alarm clock again - the fact that the alarm clock itself is unreliable is a alltogether different matter... One time the battery died during the day - after doing nothing for 4 hours in my sports bag (started with 1 bar down). When I had to make a call that day, for the first time in I don't know how many years I had to use a telephone box. Progress?!
    The firmware update has also barely improved the email client - just a few ui glitches solved. However, the biggest issue at the moment seems to be the weird memory organization. When I buy a phone I don't want to deal with something like the c drive problem. Reinstalling applications on the 32gb partition helps somewhat but why didn't Nokia do that in the first place? Has this phone never been tested?The phone is still way too slow.
    I can't comment on the iplayer app - says it needs wlan to work. But the youtube player has crashed every time i used it. And by crashing I mean it took down the whole phone with it. I admit that my ipod crashed a few times too - in just under a year (~3 times). But the reset was straightforward every time. With the N97, the only thing that seems to help is to take the battery out!
    Before I forget, the N97 doesn't even work as a phone. In a 30 minute conversation, the call got dropped 4 times. I don't know whether it was because of a calibration issue with the proximity sensor or a more serious problem, all I know is that this is unacceptable!
    I am sick of the phone and Nokia's service. The joikuspot app ran out and asks me to pay... I have paid £500 pounds for the bloody phone already. The adobe reader asks me to pay... (somehow it ran out without me even using it). Maybe you see why I am getting angry now - the only use case that actually put the N97 on top of my old phone was gone. What infuriated me even more, is that Nokia bundles this software with the phone. It cannot actually be deinstalled! It just sits there merrily and takes up my hard drive space.
    Last but not least, I have written to Nokia already, but not received a response! This is a Nokia forum with Nokia employees following the posts. I would be very, very, very grateful if Nokia could give me a refund. However, with them not even acknowledging the various problems I somehow don't see that coming. I'll probably have to sell it with a massive loss on ebay.
    Cheers,
    Will
    P.s.: I have all the same small issues as the other guys here - slider lock at the side not working etc. You are not alone... Has anyone complained about the music player? I have 16gb of music on the phone and scrolling is impossible! The Symbian OS is so obviously not built for a touch screen that it hurts. Of course they don't put much music on the phones in the Nokia store so people only find out when they get home...

    Solved!

    hi ! the nokia n97 is a really an amazing device. It keeps up to the promise of live online 24 x 7. I discovered it and wanted to share. Still there are some unanswered questions and if any vetran could help would really appreciate.
    i am an user from India. and have the n97 for about 3-4 weeks now. Practically I have been living online 24 x 7 as The list of unexpected issues that a nokia n97 offers seems unending, some of which i am narrating have made me scout on the web to try n search answers.Not that i will be able to action information you provide instantly. My new phone has gone for reparis(sic), so once its back can do that & will acknowledge your replies.
    My Quests:
    1. First things first! How to request for & get refunds for a Nokia Phone in India.
    2. Is there a touch querty as an input method? like windows mobile ? Request Know How. I now seem to agree to the feedback on one of the blogs.. that nokia designers feel that the average size of user hands would be that of big people & fingers like a japaneese teen. The physical keyboard does not seem to offer any additional functions other than text input !

    thanks in advance for your time to stop & read. Pls do send any information that you think will be useful to me for making the n97 do some work.

    Usage for auto word completion only on physical keyboard, when the Dpad down key is used it throws up options but the way the scroll is designed you can see the full word and one makes mistakes.
    34. another strange behaviour is on the text input... this was on an email i was trying to reply. the stylus touch will paste the last keyed in word !! we wonder why.

  • Problems syncing Office Live Contacts with iphone 3g

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1324?viewlocale=en_US but it still does not work.
    I don't know what else to do, I would really appreciate any help , ideas or experiences with this.
    Thank you,

  • ITunes 11 sync problems with iPhone 5 and ios 7

    I just installed itunes 11 and it iTunes will no longer sync with my iPhone 5.  It would say that it was syncing and then the new files would not be transferred.  I uninstalled and re-installed.  All of my files were present in iTunes.  I would try to sync again and now it tells me I need 500 MB of space to complete the sync  I am only trying to sync 9 new songs.  No way its 500 MB.  Besides the bar at the bottom of itunes says I have 3.2 GB of space.  Is anyone else having trouble with the new iTunes?

    Ok folks .. here is the solution that has finally worked for me.  After spending over 45 days on and off the phone with Apple support, this is the work around solution for the ibooks.
    Set your IPAD as new and go through that whole set up process.  Plug in your device so it can communicate with iTunes.  When you load your books from iTunes to the IPAD do not synic the first time.  You will have to drag and drop from iTunes the books/music you want loaded.  After you manually do this, the synic seems to work fine.
    Also things I have found.  By dragging and dropping the volume of books I have.  It took less time to load on my IPAD then it did trying to synic and waiting over 24 hours to load in IPAD (at which time you can't touch your device).  It was during this huge file load that the Ibooks App/iTunes/Cloud and whatever other Apple software all talk, that the books being loaded start to go squirrely and go into limbo.
    Here is the problem.  When you get the message "waiting for files to copy", itunes and your device are having an issue.  So files that iTunes thinks it has copied over, actually go into limbo and sit there greyed out and won't work on your device.  When you try to re-synic again, iTunes says "hey!  I have already copied these over" and will sit there on "waiting for files to copy".
    A way to fix the files that are in limbo, delete your app and re-download it.  The files that moved over from iTunes to your device will still be there, however, the files that are in limbo will disappear.  This should stop the synic issue ... or it will identify that there are issues with some of your files.
    Is this a great fix ... nope!   I pushed and pushed to be allowed to talk with someone from DEV and got stonewalled.  I even brought in their Customer Support from Corp Head office and got absolutely no where.
    BOTTOM LINE:  iTunes and your devices can not handle a huge transfer of files from iTunes to the device and it creates this limbo "waiting for files to be copied".  I find this ironic, because I have never had this problem when it comes to my music (transfering from iTunes to my IPOD), however, I haven't synic that device in awhile, guess i am scared it will do the same crap.
    I also got Apple to acknowledge that when they test out their new software upgrades and devices that they ONLY test with iTunes Store only products (ie: music/books/apps).  Infact, Apple DOES NOT test any outside source materials.  I found this rather pathethically sad, since 99.9% of the users of any devices get their music/books from sources OTHER then the Apple Store.  This means that a file that USED to work for you (example: a song) and was loaded on your device fine before all these software upgrades in Nov/2013 might not work anymore because of a change they have made in their software.
    Last conversation I had with Apple (both Support and Customer Service) was them telling me that DEV was looking into the problem but did not have an ETA on when a fix would happen.
    Also keep in mind, I found that even with a 128kg AIR, it doesn't like to hang alot of books.   I found that at around 3k in books, the device starts to freeze up.  This contradicts the Apple concept, that the device can hold as many songs/books as you want, until you reach the max room available on the device.  I can clearly tell you this statement is infact false.  The device does not like to hold that many files and it starts to delay on you (quite noticeable) at 3k.
    So, that in a nutshell has been my experience with Apple Support.  45 days later, I have reset my Air 10 times, tried to load all my books (at one time) 9 times, to finally find that the only way to get them in was a drag and drop the alphabetic (one letter at a time) and let it load on the IPAD before I would drag and drop more.  The synic problem doesnt happen anymore, I had to eliminate 2 books that itunes just would not send over to the IPAD even though there was nothing wrong with the file.  Am I happy?   NOPE ... talk about bait and switch.
    Consumers beware ... Apple doesn't necessarily deliver what it says it will.

  • Using Skype with iPhone 3Gs

    I have been reading a lot of conflicting statements as it relates to the ability to make calls at WiFi hotspots using Skype on a 3Gs phone...anybody have any recent experience with this - positive or negative?

    Afraid not. You can configure Skype or Truphone to stay connected when the phone locks, but they have to be running all the time to receive calls.
    Truphone can now tell you when you receive voicemail even if the app isn't running, so you can call back.
    <http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/truphone-os-3-0-for-iphone/id319994618?mt=8>
    Future versions of both apps could use push notification of incoming calls when the apps aren't running.

  • What bt car radio will work with iPhone ?

    Simple question, I'm looking for a aftermarket radio that will work with my iPhone 3G.
    Play music over bleutooth, make hands free calls.
    No additional cables,only BT,iPhone in cradle/charger.
    I did find a few radio's that should work, but maybe people here have experience with working systems so I'm sure they work in real life,and not only in the advertisings.
    You can google all over the internet, and never find a clear answer.....so maybe we can make the final topic here, for everyone to find....

    We have tried everything that ha been suggested
    Sorry, but that tells me nothing - one man's "everything" is another's not quite enough.  When I said "EXACTLY", I meant just that...  What happens in vagueness, stays in vagueness!

  • Bought iPhone 6 yesterday. Also bought dock works with iPhone 5/5s. And cord connecting iPhone 6 to USB port on car stereo. No sound comes out of dock or car stereo. In store today, iPhone 5 running ios 8 worked on dock, not iPhone 6. When Apple fix?

    I bought an iPhone 6 yesterday. I also bought a stereo dock that works with iPhone 5/5s. And a cord to connect iPhone 6 to USB port on my car stereo. No sound comes out of the stereo dock or car stereo. In Best Buy today, Sales Associate tried his iPhone 5 running iOS 8 on a stereo dock. It worked, but my iPhone 6 didn't. When will Apple fix this problem? Or is Apple pushing everyone to Bluetooth?

    The iPod feature that plays through USB in my car does not work with my iPhone 6 either.  I called AppleCare and they said that the car audio system will need a firmware update.  Don't know if Apple is just passing the buck, but that is what I was told.  Thank you for posting.  I know now that I am not the only one.  Thanks also for posting about the iPhone 5 running iOS 8.  I gave away my iPhone 5 to a friend so I wasn't sure whether this is an iOS 8 issue or an iPhone 6 issue and your experience seems to confirm that it is a problem with iPhone 6.  I guess I will just be using Bluetooth in my car, at least for now.

  • Importing Flex project into Flash CS5 for use with iPhone packager? Please Help.

    Hi all,
    I have been developing an application in Flex builder for the iPhone using the iPhone packager, where I've been using the Flex framework.
    Now I'm stuck at trying to use my existing libraries in Flash. It seems I can't add the UI components I used in Flex (class VideoExample) to the default Flash container. I need someone's help who has experience with that.
    I have created a .SWC file, but when I'm trying to add the container in Flash using addChild(new VideoExample) it doesn't work. I can't load the .SWF externally using loader.load() at runtime, because the application is for iPhone. Any solutions how could I import the project to Flash?
    I was thinking about changing the UI components classes from mx.* to fl.*, but I would have to change many code and I'm not sure if it would even work, and I don't want to loose compatibility with mxml.
    Please respond, help would be very much appreciated!
    Here's my mxml wrapper, from which I start the main application:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" applicationComplete="EntryPoint.main()">
    </mx:Application>
    Then I have a class which creates the main container:
    package {
    import mx.core.*;
    public class EntryPoint {
        public static function main():void {
            var client:VideoExample = new VideoExample();
            var mxmlApp:Application = Application(Application.application);
            mxmlApp.addChild(client);
    Here is the main class VideoExample:
    package {
    import mx.controls.*;
    import mx.containers.*;
    public class VideoExample extends Canvas {
        public function VideoExample() {
            super();
            init();
            private function init():void {
            loadImage();
            loadText();
                    loadDisplay();
                    startConnection();

  • Does anyone has experience with Dynafix repair?

    Hello,
    my iPhone broke down, and in Belgium all warranty claims have to go via Mobistar/ Dynafix.
    I looked this company up on the internet, and all I got were horror stories about warranty refusal (due to water damage, other impossible to proof defects), iPhones that come back more broken than before, claims to pay 40 euros just to get an unfixed iPhone back,...
    To be honest I'm afraid to even send my broken iPhone to them. Apparently Apple doesn't support iPhones in Belgium because I tried an official Service Provider, but they couldn't help me. Have to go to Mobistar -> Dynafix.
    So does anyone have positive experiences with repairs in Belgium?
    (I do want this iPhone fixed otherwise I'll lose all my progress in imob online
    The new iPhone 3Gs looks great, and if the old one gets repaired, I won't hesitate to buy the new one too.
    Thanks in advance for any reactions. I'll keep you informed on the progress.

    MrTerryG,
    I wish I could tell you of a happy and joyful experience. However, I'm afraid my story won't put your mind at ease.
    Since I bought my iPhone last summer, my vibration-function was very loud. I wasn't aware that this was abnormal until I heard a colleague's iPhone vibrating much softer, more than half a year later.
    I first tried to bring in my iPhone in a local Apple Store, but they told me I had to bring it in at Mobistar, since I bought it there.
    When I took it back, I saw a very thin hairline fracture at the simcard tray. This happened when I had -carefully- removed the simcard to bring in the iPhone.
    I brought in my phone at Mobistar, describing the hairline fracture and vibration problem. They sent it to Dynafix.
    2 weeks later, I went to the Mobistar Center, and they told me I had 3 choices:
    1. Pay 282€ and get a new iPhone in return
    2. Pay 40€ to get it back unrepaired
    3. Tell them to throw away the phone
    They said that the damage wasn't covered by the warranty. After that, they showed me a picture, taken by Dynafix. I couldn't believe my eyes, the hairline fracture wasn't just a hairline fracture anymore, and suddenly there were much more fractures! I don't know what they did with my phone, but it looks awful now.
    I sent emails to Dynafix, but their replies were not covering the point (as if they only read half of the mail).
    I called and mailed Apple and Mobistar too, and both ends advised me to send letters, because there were much more similar complaints.
    So that's what I'm going to do tomorrow.
    It's really really sad, because this rules out buying new iPhones from Mobistar, because as long as they have a contract with Dynafix, you have an almost certain chance of being scr*wed by the repair company.
    I hope you haven't sent in your iPhone, because my advice is: take detailed pics of your phone first, and have them signed by the salesman in your local store where you are bringing it in.
    Kind regards,
    codus
