My home page is google and it works but when I open a new tab it displays an error message :Firefox can't find the file at chrome://quick_start/content/index.ht

I've made sure a dozen times that my home page is set correctly, and when I hit the home button next to the search bar it works and takes me right to google BUT whenever i open a new tab i get the error that my page cannot load and the web url that it keeps trying to remember is in the error message:
Firefox can't find the file at chrome://quick_start/content/index.html.
of course the last dot is not the url anymore but the end of the sentence for the error message, but i don't ever use chrome ever on my laptop only my cell so what is going on????? help fix god please!!!!!!

Do you have the FastStart extension?

I was trying to customize my page but then Firefox became completely unavailable. It only gives this message, along with 'trouble finding page': Firefox can't find the file at place:sort=8&maxResults=10. I tried rebooting and then reinstalling Firefox but the same message recurs. I can only get to the web now by using Internet Explorer which I don't like. But I may have to switch to it anyway.

Firefox is coded to open new tabs in a blank page. That may change in Firefox 4. I don't know.
In the meantime, there is an add-on called Tab Mix Plus that I think provides that option. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1122/

Firefox can't find the file at (a location is specified) when either "Navigate previous" (and next) buttons are pressed in an HTML5 skin (but OK in IE/Chrome).

I create HTML5 help projects from a package called MadCap Flare. It uses what they call an HTML5 'skin' that sets the style/layout of the page and also includes 'Navigate previous' and 'Navigate next' buttons. I have all tabs set to open with Google search, but when I open a new tab and start typing, the letters appear in the address bar and not the Google search bar. It didn't used to be like this!

One of my set of home pages is the basic Google search page. When I open this, I can immediately start typing and the words appear in the Google search box.
If however I open a new tab (white cross far right of tab bar) and start typing, the words appear in the address bar, not in the Google search box. Of course once I click in the search box I can carry on: but I'd like to make it start there as it does with the homepage.

If you want a specific webpage (like the Google page) to always open when you open a New Tab, you can use the following add-on to Open New Tabs with your Favorite Pages:

Not sure why but when i open a new tab my top sites are no longer showing not even a toggle switch it's just one big blank white page? how can i correct this ?

Sometimes when I open a new tab, I get a blank burgundy screen that covers up the window and sometimes I can get rid of it and sometimes not. At this point, I'm ready to totally get rid of Firefox. what is going on?

When I click on the plus sign by tabs, a burgundy blank screen appears over my window, blocking the tab groups except for the top portion. I can still see the URL address field and the tabs above but when I click on a tab, it comes up beneath the blank burgundy new screen on my window. I can't use the ones behind the burgundy screen. sometime when I click on the home icon the blank screen goes away, sometimes not.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar

I have my home page set up fine, but when i open a new tab it loads "delta serach" instead of the old layout of my most visited pages.

When I open Firefox and try to open a new tab I get an error window which says "Firefox can't find the file at /C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/9Úº%01˜%1Cm:ÙËÅÈµÖ¯AÐóqÖ¬7F±éS¿W5." Is this a virus?

I get multiple windows opening with this message. Sometimes as many as 8 or more. I first tried clearing my cache then I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it but the issue persists.
I am using Trend Micro anti virus software with their latest updates and have run a complete scan. The program tells me I do not have a virus but I suspect I do. Can anyone give me any input on this?

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. Often I get the following message when visiting website. It seems to happen randomly and if I try enough times I eventaully get through to the site. The error message is: Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/chrome/e
