My iPod has a black screen and when you press the power button nothing happens. Also when you plug it in the the computer or wall nothing happens.
My iPod was plugged in over night. When I woke up in the morning it had a black screen and wouldn't turn on at all. Also it doesn't say that its charging when it's plugged in and when plugged into the computer nothing comes up like it did before.
Reset it by holding the on/off and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider if it appears first), then release. You won't lose any data by doing this.

As the title says, this is a brand new iPod touch bought from a store, I plugged it in a commenced the "setting up" process through iTunes on may iMac. Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -
