Need to Recreate A Site
I am brand new to Dreamweaver. I just purchased and installed CS4. I had a site built for me and they used Dreamweaver. I downloaded all the files from the host's server and put them in a folder on my computer. I need to set them up in Dreamweaver so they still function as a site and the pages can be edited. I am lost since I know nothing about Dreamweaver (FrontPage was my thing years ago). If it would be helpful here is the site online www.kdnprinting.com Any and all help would be appreciated. Though I had backed up my web site files, I don't have a backup of the site's Site Management (*.ste) file.
Thus, I'm unable to manage this site in Dreamweaver (reinstalled on the new hard drive).
In some forum threads, there are references to "manually recreating the site definition." How do I do this?

DW can manage the site after you have defined the site as mentioned

Gosh, I wish I would have known about the .ste file before my hard drive died. This seems like way too much responsibility to put on one teeny tiny little file -- especially one that's not kept with the rest of the web site files.
The .ste file contains only the paths to your site and the login
information - if you choose to include that information. It does not
contain any of the actual files. DW does not act as a backup or archival
program. You need to keep backups of your entire site (including source
files used to create the site, such as Photoshop/Fireworks layered
images, Flash .fla files, etc...) as well as backups of the .ste files.

Help need to switch Muse site to BC on a allready hosted plan
Hi, i also posted on BC forum...
I have a client that was in a hurry to have his emails accounts before the entire website.
So i went on and bought the email marketing plan (cos he will also need to do email campains) an pointed his domain everything is working fine, at this moment he has his accounts the domain is live.
The site would be just a small 7-10 pages not to complicated.
Has a graphic designer (who has venture into Business catalyst cos it had all the solutions i needed, well that's what the promotional videos said anyway) I made a site in Muse.
First i did a temporary page thats says "comming soon", and then i made the entire site, all the design and menu but with blank pages cos the client didnt have all the content yet (and still dont have). I uploaded that site to a sub directory so he could see the evolution.
He approved the design, yay!
At the end of the process, he told me he needed to have full control with the editor. (style, images, bulleted list, need to put downloadable document like pdf etc.) i told him that he could only modify what was allready there with the Muse in Browser editing (that he saw when i made the pitch using another site) he was impress with the way it worked.
so i told him i would have to remake "template".
I thought of using a BC template, and modify the looks to adapt to my client image, Of course, use a responsive theme so he could make the change at one place only. (cos in Muse you need to make the changes on the 3 layouts).
Now, i created a new temporary site using one of the new responsive template available.
How can i import that new site onto his live domain? In other words, how can a switch from a theme made in Muse, to a BC template?
cant i just delete everything in the root folder, and upload the entire new site via ftp?
please help me find the solution. i am a bit in a panic here

Thanks for additional details.
Unfortunately we cannot change site template of a live site in BC , but as a workaround Create a site from BC using the template you wish to use then publish the site from Muse to the site created from BC and transfer the contents stored from live site to trial site. Ater final transition is done , you can delete the already paid site and make live the new trial site which includes new site template.

My knowledge is very basic in terms of firewall security but i have learnt so much in CCNA network fundamental, routing protocols and concepts, switching and wireless. Still have to do wan technologies.
What i need to ask from the community if its the right time and right place to ask questions like mine. Here i need to filter social sites (i.e facebook.com, myspace.com ect) including all the torrents and malicious sites. I was advised that i will need Cisco ASA 5505 for this job, but i want to ask the community if is that sufficient enough to have the device only, if not what else can i include.

Need to recreate a password protected PDF but can't unlock origional
I have a password protected PDF protfolio that I need to recreate but no longer have the origional password for. I could just write a new PDF, but so much time was spent creating the origional. Is there a way to save a copy and then re-apply the password security?
I want to add that the pdf password unlock programs usually are easier to break the permission password for you to copy, print and edit with corresponding tools. But to crack the open password it's more difficult and if your file is protected by this kind of pdf security, you may have to type word by word from scratch.....

If the junk sites are coming up whilst you are browsing, this may be caused by malware. You should consider scanning your computer with some malware programs. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:

Need a Blues music site for songs and burn to cds
Need a Blues music site for downloading songs and then burning to a CD-R. Can't use iTunes or Windows media Player. As mot of my songs are from inexpensive sites iTunes won't allow them to be burned even though they show in playlists. Windows Media Player just refuses to download on my computer with Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox. Have downloaded and burned CDs in the past but iTunes has cracked down on these songs that are not downloaded from their site. Can't really blame them, but I refuse to pay $.99 cents for a song when I can buy them elsewhere for anywhere from $.05 to $.25. Would appreciate any advice given. Thanks, Steve
Ok, so you have the problem too. But have you had any replys with help? There are lots of sites that advertise music and burning. but when you go into them they are not what they appear to be. At least I can't figure them out.

hello, this is a scam tactic that is trying to trick you into installing malware, so don't download or execute this kind of stuff - updates are handled automatically by firefox so you don't have to download anything (you can always initiate a manual check for updates in ''firefox > help > about firefox'').
you might also want to run a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] & [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan kaspersky security scan] in order to make sure that there isn't already some sort of malware active on your system that triggers these false alerts.

I did an ALTER TABLE1 to change FIELD1 from varchar(5) to varchar(7). TABLE1.FIELD1 is in VIEW1. When I do a SELECT * FROM VIEW1 it shows 7 characters. But when I look at VIEW1 in object explorer (after refreshing), FIELD1 is varchar(5). Do I care?

The metadata for the view is not automatically updated when the tables are modified.
The fix is to either drop and re-create or alter the view or to use the sp_refreshview stored procedure.

Is Dreamweaver backward compatible to 2005 or do I need to recreate my entire Web site?
After many years, my company finally upgraded to CS5. I have a site created in the 2005 version of Dreamweaver, with a navigation bar exported from Fireworks as an htm file "required" on every page. After installing CS5, my design pages show only the navigation bar, and all the drop-downs appear visible in text format. The copy for the remainder of the page (following the navigation bar) remains in the html code, but it does not show on the design page. At the top of the design page, it shows a gif file with the name of the navigation bar file followed by a yellow mark and then </head> in yellow. What do I need to re-do to make the transition from the very old version to the current one? Thank you!
I seriously doubt your 2005 MM_Rollover Menus will perform well in all modern web devices: IE9, Smartphones, iOS devices, etc... The sad truth is that those menus were horrible in 2005. By today's web standards, they are totally unacceptable. You should take this opportunity to switch over to a better menu system.

In answer to your question about backwards compatibility, DW is an HTML editor. If your old site is HTML, it will work in DW CS3, 4, 5 or 5.5. However, coding & web accessibility standards have changed quite a lot since 2005. In the long run, a new site might be a very good thing. :-)

I take it that you didn't backup your domain.sites file? If not, then on the Mac that you are re-building your site on, just open iWeb and start re-building.
If you did, then attach the hard drive that you want to restore from to the Mac that you are using and restore the relevant domain.sites file to that computer and then double click it to open it and iWeb should open it.
