New Servlet Engine with iAS

Is it true that in the next version of iAS, a new servlet engine (TOMCAT perhaps) will be proposed to replace JSERV ?
null

WebLogic's Servlet engine is less than $1K / CPU I believe.

Does anyone have experience using iPlanet 6.0 Servlet engine with
WebLogic 6.1 EJB engine? The two engines will be located on separate
physical servers. If so, any information on the implementation would
be greatly appreciated (lessons learned especially). Would the cost
difference between using WebLogic's Servlet engine vs. iPlanet's
Servlet Engine be worth the attempt? I saw in some previous posts
that there were issues with how older versions of Weblogic RMI (T3)
Protocol worked and that Weblogic would only have one socket
connection for the iPlanet Servlet Engine through which all requests
will be multiplexed. This would be a bottleneck for any application.
Is this still true with the latest versions of these products?
Thanks,
Jon

  • When I go to google on firefox and search for a topic, I try to open a website and another website (morsearch, clickkick, etc) will open up instead into a new search engine with the same topic . What is this?

I go to google. I type in "plants". A lot of sites will pop up in google. I click on a site (does not matter which usually). The site will then start to switch to a new url from (click kick, morsearch, etc) turning into a new search engine with the same topic and more options. I never get to the page I want unless I type the url directly into the address box. It always comes back with a search engine. So far I have found this only happens while starting in a search engine. When I get into the actual page, everything is fine. I am using McAfee for security and it hasn't caught a virus or anything yet. Help please! Thanks!

  • Integrating the new text engine with other Adobe products?

    Hello,
Is there any plan to integrate the new text engine with other
adobe products that dos not support RTL languages?
In famous products like AfterEffects or Director, No way to
type correctly arabic text or (rtl) generally - The only way is
converting the text to a graphic format in an external program !!
And there is no Middle East versions for these products.
So, I wish adobe thinks to take this step in near future.
    Thank you,

I found this blog post about an unsupported feature in CS4 products for Arabic, Indic and other scripts.
    http://www.thomasphinney.com/tag/indesign/
Since several Adobe products such as After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator use the same text engine you might want to try copy-pasting Arabic text from the Photoshop CS4 template provided in this blog post to After Effects CS4 and see if it works.  AFAIK Director uses a different text engine from PS, AI and AE.

    Good luck!

Please read the Release Notes for 0.9.9.1.
There is a section for "Changes to Existing Functionality", one of whose bullet points reads:
The version="1.0" attribute on <xsl:stylesheet> and the xsl:version="1.0" attribute on a literal-result element stylesheet are both now strictly enforced as per the XSLT 1.0 Specification by the Oracle XSLT Engine, version 2.0.2.7, which accompanies this release of XSQL Pages. Existing stylesheets which do not properly specify their version number will need to be updated to avoid the error that this new enforcement will raise when the stylesheet is loaded.

  • Non-http servlet engine?

Hi, I'm new to servlet development and I'm not sure this question has been answered here before. So I apologize if it has.
Basically I want to have an integrated server that can accept both http and non-http requests. So my initial thought was to write an HttpServlet and a GenericServlet. Then I googled for clues on how to implement that and found from the JavaRanch website http://faq.javaranch.com/java/ServletsFaq#otherProtocols that this task could be a daunting one because that'd imply that I have to write a new servlet engine.
So my question is, is this true in your expert opinion? And, if the custom non-http protocol has a similar syntax as http (e.g. RTSP), is it possible to just extend the http servlet engine to support it? And would that be doable without much effort?
    Thanks,
    Liang.

Would you actually need the entire servlet system for the new protocol? For your typical simple request/reply protocol you'd normally:
    Create a server socket.
When a connection arrives, start a thread to service it.
In the service thread, read and parse request.
    Send reply.
    Close socket, exit thread.
A servlet system adds a bunch of stuff to that: a layer that allows you to configure pluggable request handlers; methdod-specific functions (POST -> doPost()); a ServletRequest object; etc. Are those things relevant to the new protocol? Do you have requests with URL-like things in the header, allowing routing requests to different servlets? Do you plan to have lots of servlets for the protocol (one servlet -> no much point in XML-configurable request routing)?
I'd hope that I wouldn't need to implement a configurable request routing infrastructure. It's a lot of work if it's not really needed. Just write a socket server. If you have an associated web server (e.g. HTML pages from which the user starts RTSP requests) you can even run the socket server inside the servlet container if that helps.

  • How to maintain master data when new depreciation engine is activated?

    Dear Experts,
We have 4.7 to be upgraded to ECC6.0 and new depreciation engine will be activated.
For the changes of dep. keys, do we have to create a new master for each asset or is it possible to maintain the current masters by changing depreciation keys in master?
    I appreciate your prompt reply!
    Best regards,
    S MK

    Hi,
Thank you for the prompt replies!
I forgot to add that according to the law changes, we have to change depreciation keys.
So we are going to use new depreciation engine with changed depreciation keys.
Is it still possible to keep current masters without creating new ones?
    Best regards,

  • New Render engine and google

The new render engine seems faster and I like that. But I just for interest sake I tested the new render engine with Google page test. Now I thought that one of the thing people complained about was Google complaining about leveraging browser caching and spitting up warnings regarding no expiration date set. It is still doing this. Google seems to place large importance on this and the expiration date. Question is this relevant or something to ignore?

The thing is that the browser caching and information google page speed gives is a recommendation. It is based on certain methods NOT ALL of them. The way BC are doing it currently and even better with the new system is not one that will show up on something like that. I can give you a lot of sites that rank well but fail on this because the way their caching works is not one that is picked up by pagespeed.
There are other things like if you put the same site in Australia on the US DC and then run pagespeed - It will be better because that is where it is run from.

  • Is anyone having problems with trail sites are not allowing updates under the new rendering engine.

My Trial sites are NOT saving edits made in multiple areas.
    Examples
Products - Anything I try to do in the product description window says it has updated but then reverts back to what it was originally.
Web pages - Same for anything in the page updates in the page content window.
    Product Attributes wont update.
It appears I can add new things, but no edits work.
All say they are saved then revert back on screen to previous version.
It is only happening on my trial sites, which has been upgraded to the new liquid engine as far as I can tell as my live sites are fine. (or not converted yet)
I can do some updates via dreamweaver and FTP.
    Thanks

    Thanks
I have contacted support and it appears to be only an issue with IE as works in Firefox.
They are saying it is an issue with my PC / Browser as they cannot recreate it -
I have reset all IE back to standard settings.
My question is if it were only an issue with my browser, why does it work on the live sites and the sites not yet transitioned.

  • ADF from JDeveloper 10.1.2 not compatible with iAS 9.0.1

    Hi,
We developed an ADF Application with JDeveloper 10.1.2 and we use the ADF interMedia domains (e.g. oracle.ord.im.OrdDocDomain). The application runs fine in JDeveloper, but doesn't run on our iAS 9.0.4.1. We get the following exception:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/DatumWithConnection
    at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:219)
    at oracle.jbo.common.java2.JDK2ClassLoader.loadClassForName(JDK2ClassLoader.java:38)
    at oracle.jbo.common.JBOClass.forName(JBOClass.java:161)
    at oracle.jbo.common.JBOClass.findDataClass(JBOClass.java:203)
    at oracle.jbo.server.AttributeDefImpl.initFromXML(AttributeDefImpl.java:2061)
    at oracle.jbo.server.AttributeDefImpl.loadFromXML(AttributeDefImpl.java:2013)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadAttribute(EntityDefImpl.java:2815)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadAttributes(EntityDefImpl.java:2779)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadFromXML(EntityDefImpl.java:2362)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadFromXML(EntityDefImpl.java:2106)
    at oracle.jbo.server.MetaObjectManager.loadFromXML(MetaObjectManager.java:514)
    [...rest of stacktrace omitted ...]
The problem is that the JDBC version of the iAS 9.0.4.1 is missing the class DatumWithConnection that is indirectly referenced by the interMedia classes supplied with JDeveloper 10.1.2.
In detail, oracle.ord.im.OrdDoc uses oracle.sql.STRUCT. The inheritance hierarchy of STRUCT is different in the JDBC versions on iAS 9.0.4.1 (oracle.sql.Datum <- oracle.sql.STRUCT) and JDeveloper 10.1.2 (oracle.sql.Datum <- oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection <- oracle.sql.STRUCT). The class file of oracle.ord.im.OrdDoc (from 10.1.2. JDeveloper) was apparently compiled the new JDBC driver version since it contains a reference to oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection. And that class cannot be found if run on iAS 9.0.4.1 with its old JDBC version.
I think this is a very serious problem, since it means that ADF from JDeveloper 10.1.2 is not compatible with iAS 9.0.4.1, in contradiction to the support matrix (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/as_supportmatrix.html).
Upgrading the JDBC Driver on the iAS seems to be the only clean solution for this problem (we also tried using old versions of the ordim.jar etc. but that always leads to other problems). But simply exchanging the JDBC jar-files on the server breaks the Enterprise Manager on our iAS installation.
    I have two questions:
    1) Is there a recommended workaround for the compatibility issue described above?
    2) Is there a documented and supported way to upgrade the JDBC driver of iAS 9.0.4.1? I searched OTN and MetaLink and haven't found anything about this.
    Kind Regards,
    Kay
P.S. It is surprising that this problem is rarely mentioned in the OTN forums at all. The only relevant thread is on the JHeadstart Forum:
    JHeadstart Deployment Issue
    P.S.2
More info on what we tested:
We have thoroughly checked that the 10.1.2. ADF runtime was correctly deployed on our iAS 9.0.4.1. We installed a OC4J 9.0.4.0.0 standalone on the same linux machine as our iAS 9.0.4.1 and deployed our application on it, getting the same error (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/DatumWithConnection) as on the iAS. Replacing the JDBC drivers of the OC4J standalone with the version that came with JDeveloper 10.1.2 solved the problem.

I don't think that mixing classes from different jar file is a good idea. Nevertheless, we tested this approach already. Adding the DatumWithConnection.class from the 10.1.0.3.0 JDBC version to the jar file of the original JDBC version (of the iAS 9.0.4.1.0) caused a java.lang.VerifyError to appear.
The DatumWithConnection class is not simply added in the newer JDBC version. It is inserted into the inheritance hierarchy of oracle.sql.STRUCT and oracle.sql.Datum. Simply providing the new class next to the old JDBC driver will not work.
To give more information about what's wrong with updating the complete JDBC driver, I justed tested it again. To update the JDBC driver I stopped the server, changed the contents of jdbc/lib, started the server. I tried it with JDBC Version 9.2.0.5 as well as 10.1.0.3.0.
In both cases, our own application works, i.e. no more NoClassDefFoundError caused by oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection.
The Enterprise Manager shows strange behaviour, however. Some features work as usual but, for example, when I click on the "Applications" tab for our OC4J instance, we just get the following error shown in the browser:
An error was encountered while loading page. Failed to initialize configuration management user session.. See base exception for details.
    Root Cause: TDU
Resolution: See base exception for details.. TDU
In one of the server logs I found the following stacktrace:
