Nvidia material defects

Does anyone know if the Nvidia problem reported here (http://gizmodo.com/5037070/proof-nvidia-desktop-g86-graphics-cards-affected-by-m aterials-defects) affects the 8800 GS chips in the 24" iMac? Thanks.

Because there is some speculation (http://gizmodo.com/5035980/inquirer-pretty-much-every-nvidia-geforce-8800-9600-a nd-9800-graphics-card-is-defective) that even later cards are affected.

  • Link of material movement with inspection type

    Hello Masters,
I have scenario where component at shop floor will be segregated for inspection. The requirement is to do result/defect recording for those parts and if required then those parts need to be scrapped. So one way of doing that can be to move those parts to either blocked stock or QI stock (ideal option) or to specific storage location so that planning can be taken care of (if material are still in unrestricted then planning will consider those part as OK part and planning may fail). And to record result/defect we require inspection lot, which can be created by using above mentioned material movement.
But problem is how to create inspection lot so that we can do result/defect recording for those materials and scrap those material.
Please note that material master will have QM setup active (inspection type 01 - Goods Receipt Insp. for Purchase Order) and hence we can move material from unrestricted stock to QI stock only through QM.
I am not sure if we should use inspection type 08 - Stock transfer inspection, as there can be many instances of material transfer within plant. And with inspection type 08 active, system will create inspection lot every time there is any material transfer.
One way can be to create new goods movement only for this kind of transfer and new inspection type and link both together. So that when ever material is transferred using that particular goods movement, system creates inspection lot as well as material will be in QI stock. But I am not sure how this is possible or not and if yes then how this can be done.
I know query was too long to read and I think I was clear enough to explain what the requirement is.
It would be great if I can get some guidance from you masters at the earliest convenience as it is bit of importance.
    Thanks and regards,
    Devang

    Hi Devang,
I guess this is Line rejection scenario. Correct me if understanding goes wrong. You have okayed the material against 01 inspection lot and UD has been given. Now you find this material defective on shop floor.
I think the 2nd option suggested by marwadi sounds better. I suggest one more possibility, just check whether feasible.
    1.     Create quality notification Q2 type through QM01. While creating you can give references of original PO and material document, which fetch vendor name and material code automatically.
    2.     Record defects and all other required information in notification.
    3.     After this, you find an option in action box, transfer post unrestricted - >block . Click there. This will transfer the stock from unrestricted to block.
    4.     If you want planning persons should not consider this stock as OK, remove block stock from MRP stock availability check. As a result of which stock lying in block will not be considered as available stock.
    5.     From block stock you can send this material back to vendor through MIGO. Otherwise you can create return delivery from notification through action box also. Check what is feasible in your case.
Here you need not create inspection lot, no need to use any user exit.

    Hi Qm Guru
When material return from customer due to some defect (material defect some reason like moisture or rain).then material comes in quality inspection. As for example
after Return from vendor (movement type 655)  material comes in quality inspection. suppose  50 kg comes in in quality inspectionu2026and I want to send 10 kg in unrestricted and 40 kg for reworku2026what are steps and how I will do this process
    Kindly suggest me pleas

    Hi,
      1. Maintain Inspection Type 05 in Material master.
      2. Don t Maintain any Inspection lot Origin in SPRO  > QM > Quality Inspection > Inspection Lot creation > Inspection at shipping > Assign Inspection lot Origin  to Delivery type.
    3. Create Inspection Plan for Customer return with usage 5.
    4. Then create return delivery with respect to sale order no or Document no.
    5. Do PGI.
    6. Now a lot will be generated with stock posting option.

  • Regarding rejection of material from vendor

    Hi All
    My scenario is like this
My semi finished material is come from vendor after that i put that material on production after doing all process production done the GR for that material as finished goods. This material goes into quality and here I come to know that the material is rejecting because of vendor. But the GR is done on finished material code so I have to do the material to material transfer by movement type 309. And then reject the material on vendor coz Material code for vendor material is different and material code after production is different
I want to ask is their any other process to map this scenario
    Regards
    Sachin

    Hi,
    Sorry for replying late.
Pl. I am not worring about points. My only concern is I should share my knowledge and improve knowledge by following the others inputs.
Whatever the quantity you have to reject against a particular vendor, can be enterered in the complaint quantity.
You have to enter the FG material no., in which you are rejecting in the parent material field.
In the child material field, you have to enter the material no. which you have recd. from the vendor (refer BOM)
After that, you have to scrap the material by using T code QM10.
Then for Return delivery process, pl. discuss with your MM counterpart and for Debit to supplier pl. involve FI/CO counterpart.
My suggestion is that, First write down the Business Process Procedure for material defect found out during processing. i.e your current problem process.

  • MM-Material return to supplier

    Dear Experts,
We have the following scenario which needs to be addressed
We have the material "A" which is procured from the supplier
Then the said material has been sent to subcontractor for some processing and converted as "B"
while inspecting the material "B" it is rejected by QM due to base material defect (Material "A" defect)
This has been communicated to supllier ( Who has supplied material "A" ) and they agreed to take back the material.
Now we need to convert this material as "A" from B without affecting the valuation to return back to supplier thro Movmnt 122
Can I get any suggestion for the above
    Venkatesan

    Hi,
As per subcontracting process ,you have to pay to subcontractor a processing charges right. So in this case as there is no fault from the subcontractor side ,ok.Then there are Two ways to settle the charges:
1.Return the material to subcontractor & it will be showing inventory of Raw material.Ask subcontractor to raise the Credit note against the same.
2.You have rejected the finished material ,then tell the Rawa Material supplier to bear all the charges as this is his fault.Raise a debit note on him from Raw Material+Processing charges and raise a credit note for the supplier.
    Thanks,
    AMIT

  • Lightening cable iphone 5 shows peeling and the service provider says not covered under guarantee.I can see this is a clear case manufacturing defect. What is the remedy

I find the lightening cable that came with the iphone 5 showing peeling of rubber .
I had taken it to the local support (service point) who says it is not covered under warranty.
As an engineer I can vouch that this is a clear case of material defect.
    What is my remedy
    T.Srinivasan.
    Chennai India

I had taken the Iphone 5 with lightening cable under warranty to the service supporter here in Chennai India and after logging in the complaint the support engineer had informed me that the same claim was rejected.
This happened a couple of months ago and now I find almost the entire cable has peeled off (Insulation).
Initially I thought there perhaps was a chance for handling (carrying etc in your laptop bag) that could have caused the same. Now I am convinced that the material defect is the problem.
Is there a way to bring this to the attention of Apple by email probably with a photo for them to appreciate my problem as the service support engineer authorised is unable to appreciate the problem.
    Thanks for your reply

  • Anybody else with a bent ipod 5? I've always loved Apple product but am very disappointed in this aluminum piece of china made crap. I'm sure it isn't covered and the response will be that we abused it. Anything for more money in the corporate pocket.

Very disappointed in ipod touch 5. My son's bent and he didn't abuse it! I think apple needs to admit that they made a shoddy product and this is a material defect. Many people online have the same complaint.

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"? Other users have posted about their 5G being "bent".
I have not heard of a resolution.

  • IPad Warranty (Or lack of)

I am somewhat puzzled. I went to the Apple Technical Support Center here in Singapore to have my iPad checked (This is my second iPad) for Compass problems. They confirmed I had a problem and also uncovered another problem which I don't remember and does not seem to affect my work, obviously. They informed me that iPads don't get repaired but rather get replaced. Then they noticed a slight dent on the casing (Which I had not noticed before) and told me that although my issues were absolutely unrelated to the dent, they could not solve my problem
So basically, my iPad is NOT covered under warranty because of this dent, even if I just want to get my problem repaired. I don't care about a new case.
I must say, I've been a loyal Apple customer for 34 years! And although I love Apple products, I am ****** at this policy!

Because this is a User Forum, this communication is aimed at keeping the Users properly informed. And as explained previously, Apple Techs confirmed that my iPad problem is absolutely not related to this dent (Could almost be called a scratch - very small), and that IT IS a material defect. But because it's a "replace" policy only, my "unrelated" problem cannot be addressed. In other words, cannot be repaired, even though they admitted it was a material flaw. So I will live with that decision.
I know some users would want to know this before buying. This is what I grasp.

  • Creation of subcontracting PR through maintenance order

    Dear experts,
Can anyone tell me how to create the automatic subcontracting pr from the maintenance order.
my requirement is to send the defective item from the maintenance to external vendor.
how to see the subcontract  check box in the maintenanc order screen.  what is the settings i ve to do.
when i try to check the MPI INDICATORS, i m not able to edit .
please guide me how to get the solution that for this subcontracting external process.
i m using the control key as PM02 IN THE operation tab page.
do i ve to send that material as non valuated material ?
what are all the steps to be covered.     can you guide me step by step
    thanks and regards
    vinoth devapriyan

    Hi Vinoth,
SAP supports Sub-contracting from Maintenance Order from EHP 5. If you are using EHP 5, then you have an 'Check Box' option in the Refurbishment Order Type to define sub-contracting is allowed. Then you can send a Defective Material & get back a Repaired Material.
If you are working on a EHP that is less than 5, then you have do the sub-contracting flow seperately. Following are the steps.
Create a Sub-Contracting PR. While creating the PR, you need to define 'Recursive BOM'. Here the Parent material will be with Valuation Type 'Defective' & child Material will be with Valuation Type 'Repaired'.
Create a PO. Issue the Material (defective) from ME2O against movement type 541 to the Vendor.
Post GR with Movement Type 101.
Now the Material will get into stock against Valuation Type 'Repaired'.
Note : Do not provide 'Account Assignment' as Maintenance Order (or) Cost Center in the PO. It should be blank. Other wise the Order will be debitted twice (once when consuming the material & second when posting GR).
    Hope this helps.

  • Upgrade to Win 7 (64bit) from Vista 32 - Not enough H Disk space after running Windows easy transfer

    Hello all!
I upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7(64bit) using the custom install as per instruction found on Lenovo and the upgrade has gone well.  My machine is running much better and faster now.  However, I tried to transfer my files with easy transfer and I have run out of room on the HD.  After the install, my C drive had about 35 Gigs with no other programs installed except for Win 7.  This seems to be too much memory used for win 7 OS.  I am thinking that other data like past restore data may be taking up a lot of room?  Also my Easy transfer file is 79 gigs which also appears to large of a file.  I have not been able to use Easy Transfer because of lack of drive space.  Can I reformat my HD and run a new win 7 install from the Win 7 upgrade software CD?
    Thanks in advance?

  • My daughter dropped her iPod Touch and cracked her screen...do the Apply Stores repair this and for how much?

My daughter dropped her iPod Touch on cement and shattered the screen.  It still works, but I am afraid it won't for long.  I do not want to attempt a repair myself...does the Apply Store do this type of replacement/repair and for how much?  I spent over $300 on this thing and I'm not buying another one.  Thanks.

The home owner's policy may so give it a shoot.
The apple warranty which only covers material defects does not cover abuse which is what Apple will classiy dropping it as.

  • My 2010 15 in. 2.66 Ghz i7 dual core macbook pro randomly shuts off and reboots

I am a student at a college, and I recently bought a used MacBook Pro from the computer store which is part of a 4 year turnaround program when Faculty get new machines. It is a 2010 15 in. 2.66 GHz i7 dual core MacBook Pro, and I have had it for almost 1 week. After I got it, I installed Office 365 and Microsoft Document Connection. Almost immediately after doing this, and when I opened a Office application, it shut down. So I thought that installing Office 365 was somehow causing the computer to shut down. But over the past week, I've had maybe 3 more random shut downs including when all Office applications were quit and thus inactive. They were pretty rare, so I actually thought it wasn't such a problem because they didn't interrupt my work too badly. The screen suddenly goes black with no warning, and then immediately without me doing anything the computer reboots to grey screen, apple logo with languages / licensing stuff, tells me I shut down my computer due to a problem do I want to return to the screen I was on with all my stuff on it?, I say yes and it quickly goes to the desktop with everything I was working on pulled up.
So I didn't mind too much until last night, when it shut down twice within rapid succession of one another. Shut down, reboot, within seconds of me clicking on mail or whatever, boom, shuts down, reboots again. That was annoying. Then this morning, I wake up, open my computer to do work, BOOM shut down 1, open again, try to work, this time I'm using Safari when boom shuts down again time #2 within 1 minute of last shut down, then BOOM shuts down A THIRD TIME this time within 5 minutes of the last shut down. But still 3 SHUT DOWN/ REBOOTS in 10 minutes. Needless to say this is extremely annoying. Also, these last three times it has been on Battery power, but last night it was plugged in, so I don't think it's a battery issue. Also, my computer was fully charged (or almost) this morning, so it's not like it's on really low battery or anything like that.
I checked this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5044196?start=30&tstart=0, and it seems like I may be having kernel panics due to a defective NVIDIA graphics card. How do I tell what is causing these shut down cycles? How do I get it fixed? Also, needless to say, this MacBook is 4 years old, and I am not the original owner / purchaser, so I'm sure it's out of warranty. Does anyone know how much this will cost me at the Apple Store?

    ggp057,
it could be due to the NVIDIA GPU defect in the 15-inch Mid 2010 models. It might also be due to faulty RAM. Do you know whether it has its factory-installed RAM, or if the RAM had been replaced? The GPU defect can be confirmed by making an appointment at your nearest Apple store to have them run their Video System Test on your MacBook Pro. Yes, it’s long out of warranty; the diagnostic test should be gratis, but if the defect is present, it typically costs a few hundred dollars to remedy (it involves a logic board replacement).
Did you also receive the two grey installation DVDs which originally came in the box with your MacBook Pro? Among other things, it has your model’s Apple Hardware Test. If you didn’t receive them, and the computer store is unable to provide them to you, then you can purchase a replacement pair from Apple. The Apple Hardware Test includes a RAM test, although it isn’t able to detect all possible RAM problems.
