ODI agent creation issue
Hi,
I am trying to create ODI agent in Windows. I have followed the steps in ODI set up document. It has launched the server. Now I am trying to create that as a windows service. But I am getting following error message.
I ran the followiing the command line
<ODI_HOME>\bin\agentservice -i -s Sched_Agent 20910
The error I am getting is
"FATAL | wrapper | The argument 'Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_12\bin\java.exe' is not a valid property name-value pair."
I have 10.1.3.5.5
My ODI_JAVA_HOME is pointing to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_12. Is this the issue for the error
Anyone knows why its happening.

The reason is becuase you JDK path is some thing like this c:\program files\Java\jdk1.5.0_12\bin\java.exe'
so what is the happening becuase of space between program and files its not picking up the correct JDK path .
Either change the path of JDK installation or
go to your odiparam path and go to this line
if "%ODI_JAVA_HOME%" == "" set ODI_JAVA_HOME="c:\program files\Java\jdk1.5.0_12"
or
if "%ODI_JAVA_HOME%" == "" set ODI_JAVA_HOME='c:\program files\Java\jdk1.5.0_12'
i dont remember exactly whether single or double quotes but try and let me know if that helps you

Managing ODI Agent through OPMN - Install Issue
Hi
I am attempting to set up my ODI agent so that I can manage it through my OPMN service but I keep getting an error "java is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" when I run the command "odi_opmn_addagent.bat agentcreate.properties".
I have installed EPM 11.1.2.2 and my essbase service is currently managed through the OPMN.
I have updated the odiparams, agentcreate.properties and odi_opmn_addagent.
In the agentcreate file I set my JAVA_HOME to E:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks
MCopy your jdk path as given below. Change it if you have different.
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_33\bin
Right click on my computer->go to properties->advanced system setting->environmental variable->system variables
Scroll down. you will get a variable names as "Path"
Double click on it. then single click on variable value. Then press home key in your keybord. (better take backup of it)
now pest above code that is C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_33\bin;
Give a semicolon at the end as i have given. Click ok,ok,ok
Now go to cmd and type javac. let me now the output. -
dear all,
odi agent test successfully, update the scheduling successfully but when pressing the scheduling information it give error
"ODI agent may not running"
kindly solve the issue
regards
NaseerHi Ratish,
Following are the things i did and things which are happening .. :)
created a scenario and scheduled it.
And from Topology Man.. Agent Window... clicked on "Update Scheduling"... Output is "Planning Update is Completed" and when i click on Schedule Information" it is throwing warning saying... "Unable to retrieve Agents Schedule"... and my scheduled job is also not executed at scheduled time.
Any idea what could be the problem?
Thanks in advance.

I was having trouble migrating the Master and Work repositories from my QA to my Prod environment. I was getting an error message that the internal id's were alike so I changed the internal id in my Prod Master repository. Then I tried to migrate the Work repository and was getting a similar error. I did a search on the internet for the error message and it recommended that I renumber the Work repository so I did. My concern now is how these changes affect the objects that are already in the repositories? Will those objects continue to run? Also do these changes take affect immediately or do you need to cycle the ODI agent?
Well I cannot completely assure you but so far I have not faced any issues after a renumber. It will affect the exist object only when you have imported the object in synonym_update mode. I believe you have the daily backup of your production repository.

I have installed Oracle 12c WLS & created a domain with just Admin server. It starts without error.
When i tried to extend the domain (WLS) to support ODI (Selecting only ODI Agents while extending). Domain got extended successfully.
But when i start the AdminServer, I am facing error as below.

I am trying to configure ODI Agent using the tutorial given on the URL:(http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/odi/odi_11g/setup_jee_agent/setup_jee_agent.htm).
I've followed and verified the steps written on the URL mentioned above. The only problem which I am facing at the moment is that I am not getting Oracle Data Integrator - Agent option in Fusion Middleware Configuration Wizard (Link Below) [http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/odi/odi_11g/setup_jee_agent/images/t000046.gif]
Kindly advise what needs to be done to solve this problem. The issue was with JDBC drivers in agent\drivers folder. There were multiple Oracle JDBC file & while connecting to repository, agent was referring to wrong one.
I just kept ojdbc6dms.jar which comes by default with ODI 116. I removed ojdbc14.jar & ojdbc6.jar (its same as ojdbc6dms.jar) & it worked.
Thanks for your inputs guys.

Santy. -

I can start and successfully test the agent using the agent_DEVAGENT.bat file but the problem seems to be adding it to OPMN.
-This issues seems to be that the OPMN module libopmncustom failed to initialize properly and hence has been disabled. I cannot see how I can enable it and test again.
I have tried the following to resolve the issue
1. Removed the agent and restarted it
2. Restarted the OPMN service
3. Restarted the server
4. Reinstalled ODI as well as the Stand Alone Agent
5. Uninstalled OPMN and installed it to a different location
Has anyone come across this and could you please give me a few pointers of what I can look at. The configs that I have are as follows
ODI Version : 11.1.5.0_generic_110422.1001
OPMN Version : 11.1.1.3
OS : Server 2008 STD R2 x64
ODI and OPMN are running on the same machine.

Edited by: 800166 on 18/05/2012 00:39Solved the problem by dropping and recreating the user schema and all its objects, reinstalling and configuring both ODI and OPMN.
If you ever come across the problem I recommend the above, you will save yourself hours of troubleshooting -
RAC setup- Configure hostname in ODI agent
I have my Master & Work repositories hosted on a Oracle RAC environment. I have a standalone ODI agent which might installed in the same physical server or in a different server.
In a RAC setup, there are multiple hostnames for the same database. How do I make the ODI agent aware that it should look into a 2nd server (when the 1st host is down) when trying to connect to the repository ? I want to know where this should be configured in the agent setup.
Does this get automatically taken care of once I include both the hostnames in the JDBC URL of the repositories ?All depends on the JDBC you're using...
JDBC Thin work with the Oracle listener,
and JDBC OCI (which need an Oracle Client on the machine) works with a TNS description (here you can define several HOST).
I had have several issues with the Thin on our RAC so we've changed for an OCI one...

ODI Agent and Virtual Servers (VMWare)
Hi
We are planning on moving to virtual servers (VMware product) in the near future.
Has anyone had experience running ODI agent on a virtualised server. I can't envisage any problems, but Oracle do not specificallly support running on VM Ware (as they have their own VM product!!).
Just wondering if theres anyone out there who has already tried this?
Thanks for lookingI agree, seen ODI and agents running on VMWare without any issues on many occasions.
Cheers
John

Hi guys,
I can start the ODI agent fine but I keep logging in to find the agent has stopped/crashed when using the ODI console. This isn't going to be very good when the monthly schedules run....Is the easiest method to avoid this to schedule a shell script to run the agent before the schedules are do to run? Any ideas as to why my agent keeps stopping? I'm quite new to linux so go easy on me if I have missed something obvious :)
Many thanks,
RussellI had a quick look in the logs and I cannot find anything suspicous really. The only thing I can see occuring before I notice this issue is this:
[2013-04-17T05:00:27.771+01:00] [] [NOTIFICATION] [ODI-1148] [] [tid: 79] [ecid: 0000JsM9dPvApID5zB^AyW1HPy5G00000Z,0] Agent ODI_Agent executing load plan log purge for work repository WORKREP at Apr 17, 2013 5:00:27 AM.
but this appears to be a normal occurrence?!
I will update again as soon as I experience the issue
Would scheduling a shell script to start the agent cause any issues if it was already started? I would like a failsafe before the monthly builds run to ensure the agent is running.
Many thanks,

ODI agent status shown prepared in Weblogic
hi,
I have installed FDMEE 11.1.2.4. When i start services everything is ok except ODI Java EE agent. I haven't configured it ( i think it was preconfigured).
I have tried starting ODI agent from enterprise manager but i am getting an error; will paste below.
I have seen that in weblogic server under erpi integrator server my odi console status is active and odi agent status is prepared. I don't know how to start JAVA EE agent.
Any help?

Operation Start Up on target oraclediagent Failed. Please see error logs for details.
RegardsHi JanGLi,
The ODI Agent is completely failing to start here from the error that you initially pasted so agent tests are not going to work wherever you try them. Port 6550 should have something listening on it as that's the port that the FDMEE managed server listens on so that would only prove that the FDMEE managed server is up. I can't see the connection closed error having anything to do with running out of connections in the connection pool either as it's simply a message saying that a connection was closed (not that the connection pool is exhausted).
On the plus side though I have seen the 'Servlet: "AgentServlet" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "oraclediagent"' error in the past (I get a lot of the really nice issues coming my way). Which operating system are you using here? I've seen this happen on Windows when there are multiple network interfaces and an incorrect interface has been put to the top of the bind order (e.g. an interface that has fallen back to a link local address in the 169.254.0.0/16 range as DHCP has failed).

Agent determination issue with no error, cant use SWPR?
Hello gurus.
We currently have 81 invoices that have workflow status "in process". However, the last line of this status is "agent determination issue". I've assigned the appropriate user in PFOM and i want to restart the workflow item, but i cannot use SWPR.
Normally it should be in error and you can use SWPR, and that fixes everything- however why is the workflow still "in process" and not in error? and how can i complete the workflow item now that the agent has been assigned? do i just create a new workflow using SWUE and delete the old one? Many thanks.Hi,
OK then try like this , as you said you do not have authorizations to SWI1_RULE right so do teh below steps,
1. Execute SE37 and execute the fucntion module ALINK_CALL_TRANSACTION.
2. Now mention the txn name as SWI1_RULE.
3. Now you should be able to see teh initial screen of the txn.
4. Now enter teh workitem ID which is in ready state not the top workitem ID, the workitem for which the agent is not assigned. Click F8.
5. Now choose that workitem ID and click CTRL + SHIFT + F11.
it should re evalutae the agents, if this is also not determing then make a note of the RULE ID from activity step and open the txn by using the above function module and try to simulate the rule or please let us know what is the rule type.

10.6.7 - general pdf creation issues?
I wondered whether anyone else had run into this issue after updating to 10.6.7 when using pdfs created by Preview - perhaps related to the pdf/font issue.
If it is generally happening, then the 10.6.7 pdf-font issue has an even larger
impact than previously described:
1. Open a pdf document in Preview
2. Select a region and save to clipboard
3. Save as a new pdf file
4. Then try importing it as a "Picture" into any of the new Office 2011 apps: Word, PPT, etc.
This crashes my office 2011 apps (latest version, 14.02) But NOT any earlier version of Office (2008. etc.), which may not do as much pdf checking.
Before the 10.6.7 upgrade (ie, 10.6.6), this never happened with Office 2011.
Acrobat complains when opening the Preview-created pdfs about 'missing fonts', so I suspect some sort of pdf creation issue.
Any fixes (besides the previously suggested one of downgrading to 10.6.6)
If it's a real bug (not just local to my system), then it's a more far-reaching one than previously described.rcberwick wrote:
So, 3 different Apple tech support people say they know this problem affects
"multiple applications, including any that deal with pdf files" but that "no fix is
currently in the works"
That is wrong because it only involves OpenType Postscript fonts.
The only solution offered so far is to "downgrade by doing Archive & Install" and
then re-applying each Combo Upgrade, starting with 10.6.3 up to 10.6.6.
You wouldn't have to do that either. That is the point of a Combo update. You only need to apply the one you want. It includes all of the previous updates. -

call "%ODI_HOME%\bin\odiparams.bat"
echo OracleDI: Starting Scheduler Agent ...
In your output you have :-

It is trying to call "%ODI_HOME%\bin\odiparams.bat

Do you have an windows environment variable set for ODI_HOME
If not create one and set its value to C:\ODI\oracledi

Do we need a ODI agent to be running for using the startscen command
Do we need a ODI full installation(both server and client) for using the Startscen command or just the client install should be enough. And also do we need a ODI agent to be configured and running for using this StartScen command
ThanksODI client is an agent.
So you don't need to declare one more if not needed on your infrastructure.
But to run odistartscen you need to configure the odiparams.bat with your repository connexion.
If not it will try to connect by default to the demo repostory on HSQL.
best regards,
Brice
