PDF not displaying correctly online

I have created a PDF in Acrobat Pro 9 that when opened (wherever and by whomever) will show in spreads, in Acrobat.  Working great.  However when I link to this PDF, on my website, it opens in a new browser window as it should, but displays as single pages.  I cannot for the life of me figure out why, or how to fix.
The offenders can be viewed at hooladesign.com - there are two instances under "Portfolio" / "Misc. Client Work" - the first is in "Franklin + Gower" and the other in "Zock".  Both PDFs should be showing as spreads, but are not.
Any fix to this issue?  I don't want the user to have to open the PDF on their computer.  The idea is to make it easy for them.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

For both PDFs, the first page shows as a single page, but the subsequent pages show as two-page spreads. This is on Windows XP, Firefox, and Acrobat Pro 9.3.4. I can test on a Mac later.

  • Pdf not displayed correctly in preview

We have a new A) scanner (colortrac Ci40) and when we scan a pdf it is displayed in preview as if it is all wrinkled up.
Only in prewiew and if imorted in vectorworks. (on both OSX 10.5 and 10.6)
The same problem appears on a iPad.
    It is not displayed correctly.
In all other programms I tried it is displayed properly.
We also have a small a4/a3 scanner from konica minolta and these scans display corectly in preview.
Is this only a preview problem and should I ignore it?

    Hi there,
I have a very similar problem: a number of pdf files that I can see perfectly well in Safari/GoogleChrome do NOT show correctly in Preview or ANY iPad app I have (Notability, Adobe, PDF Expertm iAnnotate, Dropbox etc.).
The problem is that punctuation -- with the expection of periods or bolded text -- does not show properly. For example, commas and quotation marks to not show, and some numbers to not show.
Moreover, once I have annotated/viewed the problematic file on the IPad and resync to dropbox to view on Mac vis Adobe (which I do with most pdf files with no problems), I get an error message upon reopening the pdf file saying "Cannot extract the embedded font 'FAFWQV+--unknown-2--'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." (the 'quoted' text changes each time). When opening in Preview, no error message appears, though the fole is still lacking punctuation etc.
Here is a link to one problematic pdf:http://niis.cass.cn/upload/2012/12/d20121201200145301.pdf
NB: the file is in Mandarin, however I can successfully open/edit/annotate/sync other pdfs using Mandarin font so I'm not sure if the language is related to the problem.
I would be extremely grateful for some help with this please!

  • Mail with image and PDF not displaying correctly on Outlook

    Environment and problem
OS X Mountain Lion, Mail 6.1 (everything up to date)
Emails with mixed image and PDF attachments send from my MacBoox Pro are not being displayed correctly when received on Outlook. It is not an Outlook problem.
    Multiple inline images - ok
I compose an email, rich text format, insert severnal inline images, send to colleage on Windows 7 using Outlook, all received ok. He sees the message with inline images.
Multiple inline images and PDF - not ok
I compose a similar email with multiple inline images, but attach a PDF. This time all of the attachments (images and PDF) appear at the end of the message when viewed in Outlook.
    Gmail browser comparison
I repeat the above from a Gmail account via Safari and I can make an email with inline images and PDF attachments and it works.
Any thoughts, tips, bug reports, etc appreciated.

No - can't be an Apple fan and then critisise MS for being proprietry
My problem was solved by installing Attachment Tamer.
It could also have been solved by emailing from Gmail directly.
The guys I work with use Outlook and were suprised to see this behaviour.
It's only basic OS X email that has a problem.
I wholeheartedly agree that the standard for emails are not conducive for rich layout control.
But - when my email just has images I had no problems. Take for example the email notifications we're getting from this thread - there are images and layout etc and work fine.
The key feature from Attachment Tamer hints at the problem (and its solution):
    send images embedded in HTML layout and safely mix embedded images with other attachments;

  • PDF not displaying correctly when opening in Firefox

I have created a document in Powerpoint 97-03, with hyperlinks created using shapes, on a Win. 7 PC and then converted it to a PDF. It has then be uploaded onto the internet and it displays fine on a Windows PC.
One of my colleagues has viewed it on their mac with Firefox and found that the contents of the PDF have shifted to the right so that part of the document is off of the page, though the hyperlinks have stayed where they should.
I have installed Adobe Reader XI onto the mac in the hopes that this may resolve it but alas no luck. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this issue and whether there was any fix at all?

Can you please post the link to the PDF in question?<br>
Does this occur in all PDFs?
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back soon.

  • When I open a pdf in Adobe Acrobat xi pro it is not displaying correctly. If a file is all black with orange writing, I will see only the orange writing. Its not until i print it or open crop pages dialog box that i see the background. i am on a Windows 7

When I open a pdf in Adobe Acrobat xi pro it is not displaying correctly. If a file is all black with orange writing, I will see only the orange writing. Its not until i print it or open crop pages dialog box that i see the background.
    i am on a Windows 7 professional PC, 64-bit.

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Links do not display correctly in my pdf

www and http are not displaying in pdf files converted from MS Word
When I convert a Word document to pdf using Acrobat Pro 9.0, the website addresses do not display correctly. For instance, if my document shows www.website.com - then the pdf only displays .website.com. Also, if I have the http://www.website.com - I get ://www.website.com. Please HELP! I remember having this problem when I used the trial version of Acrobat 9.0, at the time, I just removed the link & the document converted fine. For this file, I REALLY need the links to be active.
For now, I have resorted to using a pdfmaker that costs about $5 on e-bay. It works just fine - why doesn't my Adobe Acrobat work?

PDF maker is the part of AA9 Pro that converts the links for you. You did not say how you are creating the PDFs, but you have to use PDF Maker (the create PDF button in WORD) to get the links correct, or add them manually in Acrobat.
I have no idea what PDF Maker you are talking about for $5 a day, since it is part of your package and is thus no additional cost. If you are printing to the Adobe PDF printer, you are not using PDF Maker.

  • PDF's in Mail and Preview not displaying correctly

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite PDF's are not displaying correctly. Every time i generate a PDF of a sales quote it seems to lose a lot of information.
    But the strange thing is.....
Preview and Mail both show PDF with missing text.
When I open using "Quick Look Attachment" within Mail or Adobe Acrobat it looks perfect.
When emailed, recipients (mostly Windows users) seem to have no problem opening it and seeing all text.
So far seen that issue is only in Preview and Mail
Only has happened since upgrading to Yosemite
PDF is created using web based ZOHO CRM to build quotes.
See image below to see the difference in what Mail and Preview sees compared with how other apps open the same PDF.
NOTE: sensitive info has been purposely blurred on image.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Colors in pdf files not displayed correctly on linux acroread

I have recently observed that the colors in certain pdf files are not displayed correctly in acroread on Linux. Other readers such as evince get it right. Examples are a presentation with white arrows on  a black background which come out as black on black. I suspect, but have not proved, that the files were produced on Mac OS. I see this in acroread version 9.5.1 on a couple of versions of Linux. I googled this but could find no-one else mentioning it. Has anyone else seen it. Looks like a serious bug to me.

Does this happen with other PDFs on the server? You might check out the Adobe forums.

  • PDF files not displaying correctly

I have adobe reader 8 and my operating system is Vista. Every time I try to view a PDF file my screen gets messed up. My color quality goes from Highest 32 bit color to the lowest setting. I then either have to reboot my system, or go into my NVIDIA display properties and reset to to highest 32 bit color quality. my resolution is 1440x900. Why are my PDFS not displaying , and my color quality keep going to lowest, every time i use PDF?? .I

When I try to initiate Adobe Reader 8.1 in vista the window opens then immediately closes. Also when I try to open any PDF file the system locks up and I have to close whatever program is running from Task Manager. I have uninstalled old versions and reinstalled Adboe Reader three times with no error messages and no problems. I'm the system administrator so this should not be an issue. Help!!

  • Report does not display correctly when exported to adobe

    Post Author: mgisonda
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Hopefully someone can help me. I am currently running Crystal Reports profession version 10. I have applied service pack 1 and recently service pack 6. I am having a problem with the display of a report within adobe. My report is a bit complex. It is a 8.5x11 one page landscape report. It is set up in a grid format with multiple lines and boxes drawn on it. Here is the report information: Report Definition----
Number of Database Fields:   144     Number of On-Demand Formulas:   40     UFLs in use:   None     Page N of M Used:   No     File Format Schema:   10.2.0    I created the report using CR developer. I use the report within a web project. The user requests the report and it returns to the user, an adobe file of the report. However, this is where I am having trouble. On my local development machine, the report displays fine. In CR developer, the report displays fine. When I export the report to Adobe from the CR Developer, it exports fine. BUT when I run the report from my web site, the adobe file that is returned is broken up over 42 pages. What seems to be actually happening is the return adobe file seems to think that the page size is 2in X 4in.. Where it got that, I don't know. The server running IIS is a windows server 2003. It has adobe 8.0 reader on it. I also have Crystal 10 Server Distribution loaded on it. And I have loaded CR10 Service pack 6 on that as well. Below is the web code that is used to display the report:Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared'Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReportsImports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.EngineImports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportClassPublic Class PrintInspectionLayout    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page   Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load        Dim mNotInSpringDesign As String        Dim mPartType As String        mNotInSpringDesign = Request.QueryString("NotInSpringDesign")        If mNotInSpringDesign = "TRUE" Then            mStockCode = Request.QueryString("StockCode")            lblNotInSpringDesign.Text = "Stock Code #: " & mStockCode & " does not exist in Spring Design."            lblNotInSpringDesign.Visible = True            Response.Write("<br><br><br><br><br><font color='blue'><center><a href='SpringDesignWildCardSearch.aspx'>Go To Search Page</a></center></font>")        Else            mStockCode = Request.QueryString("StockCode")            Dim pList As ParameterValues = New ParameterValues            Dim paramName, paramValue As String            Dim pV As ParameterDiscreteValue = New ParameterDiscreteValue            Dim Report As ReportDocument= New ReportDocument            Dim expOpts As ExportOptions = New ExportOptions            Dim pdfRtfWordFormatOpts As PdfRtfWordFormatOptions = expOpts.CreatePdfRtfWordFormatOptions            Dim expFormatOpts As ExportFormatOptions = expOpts.ExportFormatOptions            expOpts.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat            mPartType = Request.QueryString("PartType")            'SELECT THE INSPECTION LAYOUT TYPE TO PRINT            Select Case mPartType                Case Is = "C"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/CompressionLayout.rpt"))                    'Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/PCAR.rpt"))                Case Is = "E"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/ExtensionLayout.rpt"))                Case Is = "T"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/TorsionLayout.rpt"))                Case Is = "W"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/WasherLayout.rpt"))                Case Is = "F"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/FreeFormLayout.rpt"))                Case Else            End Select            pV.Value = mStockCode            pList.Add(pV)            Report.DataDefinition.ParameterFields("StockCode").ApplyCurrentValues(pList)            Response.ClearContent()            Response.ClearHeaders()            Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf"            Report.ExportToHttpResponse(expOpts, Response, False, "")            Report.Close()        End If    End Sub    Any ideas as to the solution? Why is it not displaying correctly? I have spent two days researching every FAQ  to try to find an answer, but to no avail. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksMike

    Hi Paul
You're more likely to get an answer to this if you post in the UNIX forum.
By the looks of it, you may have a problem with your fonts.

  • Eurosign not displayed correctly when picked from database

    Hi ..
I'm having a problem getting a eurosign stored in an Oracle Database to be displayed correctly in my Crystal Reports 11.5.
When using the built in (preview) Crystal Viewer, the eurosign is displayed correctly, but when I want to print the report directly to a printer or to export it to pdf the eurosign is displayed as a box?
It only haapens when i need to pick the eurosign from the database. If I insert in a textbox on the report, it will show correctly.
    Please Help.
    Best regards,

What is the source of the text stored in the database. I ran into an issue a ways back where someone was copying news articles from a website into their database and the euro symbol would not display correctly (unless the option HTML Text Interpretation was used).
    You might want to do a quick check to see if it is stored as an ascii character using a formula similar to the following;
    asc(mid({database, x, 1}))
where x = the position of the euro symbol in the string.
The formula result should be 128.

  • PDF not displayed in Firefox 2.0 because of a popup

we use NetWeaver 2004s SP9 and WebDynpro for ABAP 2004s SP 9.
In case of using Browser Firefox 2.0, we detected a problem with popups and Adobe Interactive Forms Integration.
The problem - described in a simplified form - occurs as follows:
There are two screens: screen A and screen B. Screen A contains some input fields.
Screen B shows a PDF via the Adobe Interactive Forms Integration, which contains data of screen A.
The navigation is screen A --> screen B.
Basically, this scenario works fine in Firefox 2.0. The PDF is displayed correctly on View B.
But, if a popup is shown before navigation form screen A to screen B, the PDF
(and the Adobe Plugin as well) is not displayed on screen B.
In this case the navigation is screen A --> Popup (screen A in background) --> screen B.
This problem exists only in Firefox, not in Internet Explorer.
Do you have any ideas how to solve this problem?
    Best regards

    Hi Heidi,
    thank you for your reply!
    I have implemented note 1001411.
    But the problem still exists...
    Best regards

  • Aligned Form Fields Do Not Display Correctly Where Visible Borders Overlap?

I'm on creating some forms & checklists for the company I work for to simplify our project workflow.  When adding text fields to the form I'd like to add borders to segregate the various fields & make the form more presentable.
The problem I'm having, is that I'm unable to place fields immediately adjacent one another without leaving a gap.  If I do & use the snap to grid option, aligning the top of one field with bottom of another, it does not display correctly when printed.  The border lines appear to have differing thicknesses where they touch & this makes the form look terrible.  Currently I'm having to create the borders in an excel spreadsheet, convert to pdf & add borderless fields within the pre printed borders.  While this gives me the look i want, if I later want to add to or amend the form I have to start from scratch first modifying the initial excel layout which is too time consuming.  I'm using Acrobat X Pro.  Any assistance appreciated.

There are at least two techniques to allow you to change the underlying layout and remake the static part of the PDF, without having to redo the form fields (except new ones, and moving as needed).
That is replace pages and copy-paste of form fields.
