Posting video to .mac

I haven't upgraded to ilife 08 yet, and am curious if you need imovie 08 to take advantage of the new video features posting to .mac
Is the new expanded video feature posting to .mac a feature in imovie 08 or is it a function of iweb 08?
The new feature I'm referring to is being able to select a viewing size on the website and the large size is better then dvd quality.

Am I doing something simple wrong? Is there something wrong with the source video?
If the source video compression format is either Apple Animation or Apple Video, then it is normal and yes, there is something wrong with the source video. Basically, this is a bug dating back to the original release of the application. For some reasone, both of these two compression formats will import and edit normally but edit with a "black" display and a total data rate little more than that required for the audio. Which is the cause and which is the effect has yet to be determined. Simplest solution is to convert your files to another compression format (like DV, AIC, M-JPEG, PHOTO JPEG, MPEG-4 or H.264) before import. Unfortunately, you will then have to re-import and re-edit the entire project.

  • IMovie 08 not posting videos to .Mac

0.4MB of additional space is needed. Open your iDisk in the Finder and delete some files. Then click Try Again.
The above message is what I get when I try and post even the smallest of videos using iMovie. I have logged onto the iDrive thru the web and it says I have 2gb of space left, but on the other hand I can not get to my iDrive on my mac it give me this code: "Your iDisk is not available because connecting to the iDisk server failed; An unexpected error ocurred (error code -5016) This just started a few days ago....

This should be a temporary problem, as you will get an additional 10GB on July. Are you using all the space that is allocated for email in .mac? If not, you can reallocate some of it to your idisk in the .mac control panel.

  • No video on mac with hardware accelaration enabled

hi there, i just posted this thread yesterday in the flash player category, but i think it might be more correct if its posted here. we are creating a live stream  with a digital rapids encoder, and getting no video on macs if the  hardware accelaration is enabled. we have also on demand videos which  are encoded over a main concept codec without this bug.
so  now my question. is it possible to disable the hardware acceleration  from within flash or does anybody have similar experiences?

Hi, I can only supply some information of the options the end user would have on Hardware Acceleration. From what I have read is that even though Adobe Flash Player has included the Mac to be able to use this, Apple may have only allowed it to function on certain Mac and iMac editions. So the end user can turn the H.A. off if it is causing issues with Videos etc. Also with the Flash Player version 10.1.82.76 the H.A. is turned ON by default, hence the option of turning it off. Now if a Mac user wants it on, or even those using other operating systems, it is also recommended to update the video and graphic drivers to the latest versions.
From your end as to what you do I have no idea since this is the Flash Player forum and just speaking for myself, I have no experience with what you do.
Perhaps the Flash Forum would be helpful or one of the Adobe Forums for the particular Adobe Program you use.
    Thanks,

  • How do i copy The iMovie video from Mac, to iPad mini?

How do i copy The iMovie video from Mac, to iPad mini?

The easiest way is to firstly export the movie to iTunes (Share > iTunes), then sync the iPad Mini with iTunes. In iTunes, include your movie as an item to be synced. After syncing, on the iPad it will appear in the Videos app. That's how I do it for my wife's Mini.
If you need help with exporting or with syncing to iTunes, please post back.
I'm caught up with something else at the moment, otherwise I'd give you full instructions now (just wanted to get this to you quickly).

  • Best practices for posting video to my iWeb site?

What's the best way to upload movies to my site so that visitors can watch them while sacrificing the least amount of quality, size and speed?
As an example, the iPhone commercials on the Apple webpage start playing instantly, look great and when Large is selected are the perfect size.
But I made a 1.5 minute iSight video on iMovie and saved it as a streaming quicktime file and it takes about 10 minutes to fully load once it's on my site. And I have a 10 mpbs internet connection.
I also just pulled up a large movie trailer on iTunes and it looks great and started playing instantly.
Is there a better way for posting video? Perhaps in flash or another codec that would make more sense? Videos on youTube play instantly, although the quality isn't always great.
    thanks!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

There is no absolute correct way. One way is shown in this demo page. It lets the page load without having the movie load thus speeding up the page load a fair amount. The movie only has to load when the Play button is clicked on and then it opens in a separate window sized just for the movie. The code used is also shown on the page. This way can allow you to use a larger QT file and not affect the loading of the original page it's linked to.

  • Posting videos without using Youtube or Vimeo

It is needed to be able to post videos and audio files directly with out going through a third party site like Youtube or Vimeo.

You are all use MacBook laptops, while this forum is Mac Pro tower.
You might want to find the forum for MacBook Pro.

As to why, probably something to do with that last Security Update 3 that I skipped on. Maybe you read about it.
The complaints are likely to be in the "Using Mac OS X Snow Leopard" rather than here.

  • Can anyone tell me how to post videos taken on the iPhone that are now stored on the Air on Facebook?

Can anyone tell me how to post videos taken on the iPhone that are now stored on the Air on Facebook?

    Hi
Yeah got onto that but it won't load up anything readable. It just produces a little annimation of 35mm film strip and when you click on it - nothing. All you end up doing is clicking on the X in the top right hand corner of the annimation and deleting it. Really frustrating because uploading from the iPhone is simple, but I've deleted it off that and can't get it back from the Mac to the iPone either. Seem to be trapped no matter what i do.
    Thanks for your help though

  • Can't post video to facebook

Hi, I can't post video to my facebook "page", I can post to my profile but not page.

The FaceBook app supports uploading photos, not video.
Try an app called iLoader which supports uploading more than one photo at a time to FaceBook and uploading video.

how can i stream video from mac os x 10 using roku to my tv?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X can't write in NTFS disks. If you want to write in NTFS drives, you have to use a third-party app like Paragon for NTFS, being this application the best one to write in those disks.
Another option is to format the external disk in FAT32 or exFAT on a PC, so you will be able to read and write in Macs and PCs without having to use third-party apps. Do it on a PC and copy the files of your external drive to the internal disk first

  • Incompatible web sites, playing wmv video on mac

I am an expert pc user switching to mac...
I realized when I made the switch that they would be software that worked with PC that would not work with MAC. What has really surprised me, is there seems to be many web sites that will not work with MAC and its browsers.
This started with a conversation with apple support, where they indicated there were incompatible web sites.
My business bank stops you cold and says you have to use IE; you can ignore it and move on and it seems to work ok.
The Walgreen pharmacy web site has a drug cost calculator that also says you must use IE, and you cannot move on.
What really concerns me are the ones that give you no warning, but just don't work. If you go to
    http://www.dotnetnuke.com/default.aspx?tabid=777
under the title of Video introduction:
Mac Firefox - nothing displays for the video player
Mac Safari - the video player displays, but the video will not play.
PC IE - everything works as expected.
The video format is wmv, which is an industry standard. I installed flip4mac, which is supposed to allow you to view wmv in quicktime, but it did work. Even after downloading the video (a link), I could not watch in on the mac. I had to go to a PC.
This type of silliness is exactly why I am running from a PC. Now I am finding it prevalent on the mac.
Question 1) specific to the wmv file format, how do you get it to run on mac?
Question 2) is this just the way it is? You cannot depend on web applications working at all with mac?
    thanks!
    bob

    Hi Bob,
    Ok, I'll bite
Apple has to understand that we don't care about who is at fault for web sites not working with Mac
The WebKit team are more than aware of that fact, and where possible they work with popular websites to get them to correct their websites or add specific 'kludges' into the WebKit code to specifically support these sites.
Apple has the ability to have an IE mode in safari to handle these situations, but hey choose not to
I've not heard that before. Can you quote a source?
If it takes IE compatibility mode to handle all web sites, then just do it.
That of course costs money. And then there's the prospect of Apple having to license Microsoft's DRM solution to provide 100% compatibility with Windows Media files. As we all know, Apple like good P.R. as much as the next company and handing something like that to Microsoft is never going to happen.
Microsoft clearly won't provide updated WMP technology for OS X as it gives them nothing, other than the extra impetus for people to switch away from Windows.
So we're stuck with essentially badgering the broken sites to fix things, or going somewhere else (and spending our $$$ there if needed).
The bar for a college student is much lower
True, but today's college student is tomorrow's business person and Apple products are very popular with college students these days. Apple are in this for the long term. Things will change, but we have to live in the real world and know this isn't going to happen soon.
The truth of the matter is that the sooner Microsoft get on board with being a responsible web-citizen then the better it will be for everyone (and by everyone I don't just mean Apple users, but anyone connected to the internet).
Almost [1 in 3 browsers on the web are not Internet Explorer|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usageshare_of_webbrowsers] - that's a huge number and businesses on the web need to be aware of this.
Please please please do not get me wrong - I would love it if Safari (or Firefox, or Opera, or Chrome, or ...) could handle every site that IE does but it's never, ever going to happen.
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • How do you choose which blog to post video to?

we have two group blogs and need the students to be able to post video from podcast capture to both of them but need to be able to choose which blog. Any ideas?

    Hi
In fact you don't...Pcp has a property named Group Short Name that define where a workflow posts (you find it in groupblog task) using this means you can post in only one podcasts blog.
They are multiples ways to "automatize" or make it easier:
    1. Duplicate workflows: means you have multiple workflows doing same encodings, etc except groupblog, which posts, where you put $$Group 1$$ (previously defined and valued whith the short name of the group 1, group1 maybe,as a custom properties in pcp admin
    2. Web controller can handle additionnal userRequirements, one could be name group and called still in groupblog by $$group$$ but users will have to type correctly their group name..source of errors to my opinion..
    3. Post to user blogs: see there http://podcastproducer.org/forums/custom-workflows/218313196
    4. Hotfolder: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1780728&tstart=0
(5). The best to me but don't exist yet: a dropdown list of groups a user belongs to in podcast capture and web controller to choose the destination group
If i missed one or more, i'll be happy to hear about..!

  • Created audio only podcast, too big to post on my .Mac website

I'm new with GB and thought it would be a easy way to record my voice for my daughter (military deployed to mid east right now). Its a basic female voice track, about 9 1/2 mins long, with no effects, no art, nothing but me talking. The podcast is over 100MB and that's way too big to post on my .Mac website. I already chnaged the compression to micro, low quality. Why is it so big? is that normal? Would recording just any audio track, not a podcast, be smaller? thanks

100MB for 10 minutes would be an uncompressed AIFF file. You need to convert it to an MP3 file in iTunes. Please refer to HangTime's 'NeverFail Method', substituting MP3 for AIFF: I would suggest setting it to 128kb/s stereo, 64kb/s mono.
