Postinstall for 9iAS with 8i on same machine

hello,
I have just completed install of 9iAS 1.0.2.0.1
with the origin 8i 8.1.7 db on the same Solaris 8 machine.
I am currently trying to do post-install and I'm having
some trouble resolving conflicts in env variables.
Ex: 9iAS post-install says to set ORACLE_HOME to home
directory where 9iAS was installed; but ORACLE_HOME
has previously been set to the 8i home.
How do I resolve this in order to appropriately set the
env variables for 9iAS?
Thanks,
Lauren.

What you can do is run different shell scripts to set the ENV as
required.
Since 817 and iAS are in different homes that should not be a
problem

  • Can Oracle9i and Oracle 9iAS co-exist on same machine.

I was wondering if Oracle9i and Oracle 9iAS can co-exist on same machine. I like to play around with 9iAS and I already have 9i database up and running on this one box.
    Thanks.

What issue are you having? You can install both versions of Forms into separate homes. You then have two versions of your Forms application, in different directories. Then your FORMS60_PATH points to your Forms 6i forms, and your FORMS90_PATH points to your Oracle9i Forms forms. There is no conflict.

  • Can I use FCX for multiple users on the same machine?

I have one mac pro, and two video cmpanies. I have two users on my machine and would like to set up two different final cut x workplatforms. Is that possible?

Of course, you can use FCP X from two different user accounts on your machine. The question here, I believe, is how to separate the content that each user accesses.
One obvious way to achieve that would be to store the content in the system disk - that would put events and projects in each user's Movies folder. But that is a bad option, for performance reasons, and more.
You could have separate external disks for each user to store his content.
Also, you could use different disk images which could, say, be all stored in the same internal (but not system) drive.

  • How to change the download destination for all users in a same machine?

    Hi !
    Can anybody help me?
    This is the scenario:
My application is going to be deployed in PCs with high rotation and politics inside the company those machines can't persist user information outside a session. This means that an user always is a new user in a PC, and when he logs off, his information (.../documents and settings/UserName/) is deleted by a central machine.
The problem is that my users always have to download the application by JWS, because JWS saves (or caches) the application inside user folders.
I know that it's possible to change download destination by a logged user, not like a global configuration.
    My question is:
It is possible to configure the JWS properties (or something) to ensure that there will be only one .jar per machine not per user in the machine?

You can set up a system cache for sharing jars: See here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/enterprise_config.03.06.html

  • Recording your live mainstage performances with logic on same machine

Is this possible? What's the best way to route out of Mainstage into logic for the cleanest recording?
    thank you friends
    that1guy

I do it all the time, on a circa 2008 mbp, seems to work just fine.
    you'll want this:
    http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/
the way I do it is that I go into audio midi setup and I create an aggregate device joining my audio interface and the virtual interfaces of soundflower.
Then in mainstage, I'll create two busses: one with an output to my audio interface, and one with an output to soundflower, and I'll send my channel strips to both busses.
Then in logic, I'll load up the same aggregate device. Then I can record multi-tracks from my audio interface, and I can also have a separate track that gets the outputs from soundflower ... so I basically get mainstage on one track and the rest of the band on their tracks. Be sure to mute the main outs in Logic.
works like a charm. runs the cpu pretty hard. you'll want your power adapter for sure.

  • Is this configuration fine for Windows and Mac on same machine?

I have a MacBook, which I use for most everything except developing Windows software, which I have an HP desktop Vista 64bit machine for. Windows is such an inferior environment along with extremely poor tech support (hardware/software) that I want to ditch the HP for a Mac Pro. The MP will run Parallels so that I can keep developing Windows software. I also want to watch DVDs from this machine, maybe some graphics editing and XCode writing. The Windows software development environment will need at least 2GB RAM and would be nice to put it on a dedicated HD. The Mac environment is probably fine with 2GB RAM. The following will always be running:
    - Parallels with Windows development environment loaded
    - DVD program
    - Safari
    - Not sure what else at this point. Hopefully not much. Maybe just extra horsepower as needed.
Does the following configuration sound reasonable for the above?
    $3149
    One 2.8GHZ Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    4GB (4x1GB)
    500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
    500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB
    One 16x SuperDrive
    Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse
Apple Wireless Keyboard (English) + User's Guide
    AirPort Extreme Card (Wi-Fi)
Is Leopard included with a Mac Pro? I see Mac OS X Server v10.5 as an option for $500, which I don't need.
There will probably be a 1TB Time Capsule on the network as well. Thanks.

The Mac Pro does need more memory than the laptop (MacBook) or desktop (iMac) to feed the system. The ideal is to fill all 8 DIMM slots to optimize memory bandwidth. The next model (mid 2009? we expect an announcement in January) will likely support DDR3, meaning 6GB. 4GB is just minimum and for graphics or to get the most out of it, 8GB and even more. This isn't XP or even Vista 64-bit, when it comes to memory, it gets put to use, CS3 or CS4 make great use in improving performance.
OWC is OtherWorldComputing and known as http://www.macsales.com great Mac support and prices on memory and drives (and memory MUST be Mac Pro certified). All of the upgrades except cpu are "DIY" and very very easy.

  • Accessing Enterprise Manager for multiple db's on same machine

I've installed Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition (basic installation with starter database) on my laptop. I've created two databases and the link to
access Database Control (Enterprise Manager) for each is as follows
    [https://192.168.2.3:5500/em]
I cannot access either of them. I've tried [https://localhostname:####/em,] still no access.
The system variable(s) ORACLE_HOME is not currently defined. I've tried to define it as follows, ORACLE_HOME=C:\app\product\11.1.0\db_1.
In Windows XP services OracleDBConsoleMyDB1 and OracleDBConsoleMyDB2 each service is
set to Automatic . . . but neither shows current status.
The databases are up and running, I can connect and query from each.
How can I get the web interface to Enterprise Manager to work?
    Thanks.

    Ok, I found the two directories;
    C:\app\product\11.1.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_192.168.2.2_alpdev
    C:\app\product\11.1.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_192.168.2.3_cnpdev
    I also found these two as well;
    C:\app\product\11.1.0\db_1\192.168.2.2_alpdev
    C:\app\product\11.1.0\db_1\192.168.2.3_cnpdev
My machine name is xxxxxx1700, so I had to make the following changes to get
    any meaningful output.
    Renamed directories (folders) under C:\app\product\11.1.0\db_1
to xxxxxx1700_alpdev and xxxxx1700_cnpdev, OC4J_DBConsole_xxxxx1700_alpdev did not work,
    neither did OC4J_DBConsole_xxxxx1700_alpdev.
Under C:\app\product\11.1.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee, created two new directories OC4J_DBConsole_xxxxx1700_alpdev
and OC4J_DBConsole_xxxxxx1700_cnpdev and copied contents into these two folders from
    OC4J_DBConsole_192.168.2.2_alpdev and OC4J_DBConsole_192.168.2.3_cnpdev.
    I then SET ORACLE_SID's;
    C:\> set ORACLE_SID=alpdev
    C:\>emctl start dbconsole

  • Anyone install 9ias on a the same machine as 9i DB?

If anyone has had any success in performing the install of 9ias
on a machine that has a clean install of the 9i DB please
provide some insite to the process.
    TIA!

    Yes, I found two ways:
    1st:
Install Oracle 8i Rel 3, then Oracle 9iAS and after this upgrade
the Oracle 8i Rel to Oracle 9iDB
    2nd:
Install first Oracle 9i DB, the install Oracle 9i AS by using
the installer of Oracle 9i DB (!!! very important !!!), you will
get only the Enterprise Edition to install, but no matter :-)
Cancel the Assistance which will come up (they will not work),
after the Oracle 9i AS Software is installed, you have to
disable the spfile from Oracle 9i DB and use the init-file, but
you have to add the parameter O7_Dictionary... = true and
restart the DB, after this you can use the Portal Assistance and
so on (the reason to add the paramter O7_Dictionary... is, that
the Oracle 9i DB don't know anymore the syntax "connect
internal", but the Assistance of 9iAS will us this syntax)
Lot of fun with 9iAS :-)

  • Setting up a shared library for multiple accounts on the same machine

I am in idiot. I can't figure it out. This is exactly what I did.
1 - I set up multiple accounts on the computer. 1 for me and another for my wife.
2 - I loaded all the music into my account's public folder.
3 - I set the default folder in both hers and mine iTunes for this Public folder
4 - I then opened iTunes in my account and none of the songs were showing up so I dragged the folder into iTunes and it did its business. Now my account is all set.
    Here are my questions:
A - Do I need to drag the folder into my wife's account iTunes as well?
B - If either of us add music when logged in, will it automatically update in the other iTunes interface or is there something specific that needs to (manually) be done?

Doing it the way you did, you each have your own iTunes library file and are using the same iTunes music folder.
Changes by one will not be seen by the other and any new music added by one will have to be added to the library by the other.
Also, if one deletes music, it will be in teh library for the other but it will not be playable because the other person deleted it in the iTunes music folder.
Launch iTunes, then immediately press and hold Option, then select *Create new library*.
    Create one in Users/Shared.
    Quit iTunes.
Move all your music into the new /Users/Shared/iTunes/iTunes music folder.
Login to your Wife's computer account.
Move all her music into the new /Users/Shared/iTunes/iTunes music folder.
On her account, launch iTunes, then immediately press and hold Option, then select *Choose existing library*.
Select the _iTunes library file_ in /Users/Shared/iTunes.
In iTunes, File -> Add to library and select the iTunes music folder in /Users/Shared/iTunes.
All the music will be there.
Quit iTunes and log out of her account and back into your account and launch iTunes normally.
    All music will be there.
You should go to /Users/Shared/iTunes folder and right click - get info, click *Ownership & Permissions*. Set *You can* to *Read & Write* and set Others to *Read & Write*.
    Click *Apply to enclosed items*.
Any changes (new/deleted music, ratings, playlists, etc.) by one will be seen by the other sionce you are using the same iTunes library file.
Only one person can have iTunes open at a time. If you use Fast User switching, one will need to quit iTunes before the other can use it.

  • How do i enable office applications for all user accounts on the same machine?

    Hi All,
I just purchased a new MBA and Office Hame & Business. Coming from the windows world I thought that one installation of office should be available to all accounts that I set up on the same machine.  I set-up the user accounts then installed office 2011 for MAC and tried to access office from my daughters account -> can not locate office?  Does MS expect that you need to purchase a separate copy of office for each user on the same machine??  I also don't want to waste precious harddrive space in the MBA to have separate copies of the same application installed.
    Any help would be appreciated....
    Andrew

One install allows all your users to use Office.  All your users have access to the Applications folder where the office apps are installed.  Do you see the office folder from your daughters account in applications?

    machine.
But if you wish to do so, you can create multiple domains under the
same installation, say one for dev and one for prod. On the same
machine make sure they listen on different ports. This, of course,
ties you to the same version for development and production - making
it impossible to upgrade just one.
You may be able to do two completely different installations (i.e.
different BEA HOMEs) on the same machine - I haven't tried this but it
looks possible. This would mean you could upgrade each separately. The
presence of BEAHOMELIST in the registry on NT seems to indicate this
    should work.

what i have to do for client installation in the same machine:
do i have to create a new groups(dba,oinstall...)?
do i have a new directory to install oracle client?
can somebody give me any information?
    Thank's a lot in advance
    null

You can install your client parts in the same ORACLE_HOME as the server as long as they are of the same version. In fact, a lot of the client has already been installed, since it is part of the server installation.
If your client is of a different version than your server you will have to install it in a different ORACLE_HOME. You can do this using the same oracle user.
