Premiere Pro CC crashes immediateley playing AVCHD media in browser (running OSX 10.8 > please help!
I've been running CS6 perfectly on OSX 10.8.4. but decided to update to a trial CC. That's when all the fuss began.
Trying to play AVCHD material in the browser and it good stuck. Forced quit and then opened again. Then it good stuck in the startingwindow already.
Reinstalled CC, because it might have been the installation. But again failed.
Then used Adobe cleaner tool. But still failed.
Then decided to go back to cs6. But now that one gets stuck too.
Again deinstalled everything with Cleaner tool, and installed my CC trial again. Still gets stuck.
Tried to make a new user without any Adobe on it, but still fails.
What can I do? Because of all this mess I'm a week late on my editing-schedule, which is very frustrating. I might have to go back to FCP, and I don't want to.
Please help me!
Thanks so much.

Premiere Pro CS6 crashing while playing video encoded with Picvideo M-JPEG
Here is a video of what happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmP0UBGvEUA
Whole video is alright except for those 10-90 frames that causes adobe to crash.
At first i thought that there was a problem in 64bit decoder, but every other software (64bit videoplayer or 64bit video-editor) can read those frames alright.
Please, help me with this. This MJPEG http://forums.adobe.com/thread/730396 discussion may help

PREMIERE PRO CS4 CRASHES every time I try to export to media....
Import a file in whatever format (MPEG 2, MPEG 4, AVI, etc.), I add effects (or leave the file untouched) and then try to export it to MEDIA...Then Premiere Pro CS4 crashes giving me this error:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
[..\..\Scr\Component\ComponentFactory.cpp-119]
After pressing "continue" it brings another message:
Sorry, a serious error has ocurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We wil attempt to save your current project.
I press OK and the Crash Report dialog box appears....
I installed Premiere Suite 3 weeks ago and I have never used this software before....Premiere has never allowed me to export any file...
My Lap Top has Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 with NVidia GT 130 1 GB video card, 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB of HD and 1920 x 1080 P display...
Any advice? or somebody who has had the same problem?
Thanking you for your time and courtesies in assisting me, please receive my best regards.
AZUAROHave you just installed the software or applied
updates also?
Updates are needed for premiere as well as Media and other.......

Premiere Pro CC crashes when importing media.
Premiere Pro CC crashes when importing media. Every time. Driving me crazy.
It crashes as soon as the Windows dialogue box comes up.
Does it in new projects and in a project I created and imported into just fine 2 days ago.
Have rebooted.
Running Windows 8.1 on Samsung Series 5 ultrabook Intel i5 - not too sure what else to say about other settings:
I did have a problem the other day when Windows was crashing when browing a large folder of largish images and video clips but it went away when I put images and videos in separate folders. Thanks for reply.
Point taken but I've been using it for over a year for simple edits (5 min films) in PPCC just fine. Can't even do what I could do the other night now.
Simple folder with a few jpegs and movies in it. In fact it just crashes before I even got to another folder. -
Premiere Pro CC 2014 gets stuck on Media Pending.
Hi there,
I've been having a bit of trouble with PPCC 2014 opening projects then getting stuck with all my footage and assets and after effects comps just displaying with 'Media Pending'. The program still works, opens, and I can save and click around so it's not crashing but nothing loads unless I force it to relink which obviously isn't great when I'm having to edit multiple large projects. These projects still open just fine on regular old Premiere Pro CC so I will continue using that for the time being.
Media Encoder is also having an issue with After Effects comps that are in Premiere Pro timelines and only display as 'Media Pending'.
Fortunately all these issues go away if I reboot my machine and try again straight away, but having to reboot my mac just to open a project or do a export isn't exactly preferable.
I have a Mac Pro (late 2013) with 10.9.4 with 16gb Ram and a AMD D500 3GB card.
I'm just wondering if anyone has been suffering with the same issues and has come across any fixes.
Thanks in advance. Here is my post from another thread concerning the same issue:
I got through Adobe to connect to me remotely to solve this problem twice. They cleaned the cache and preferences and renamed my Adobe folder under applications (don't exactly know how thy did it.) The problem disappeared only to come back after a little while. No video playback, unresponsive buttons - but playable audio, and media pending for all clips. I told them to report this to tech support. This was about a month ago but no updates still..I know I hadn't had this issue neither with CS6 nor with CC.
I am currently rendering my project after changing the sequence's editing mode to Quicktime ProRes Proxy to see if it will help. Preview is still preview but as you said maybe the issue is to be with preview settings set to i-frame mpeg. I have read about the mpeg importer plugin to be an issue in previous versions of premiere pro concerning issues with media pending but i might be wrong.
After changing the sequence settings to Prores Proxy (or if you don't have these codecs installed you may try another codec or google "Prores codec install" and have them installed) the problem cleared away. I have looped the timeline and played it over and over for a couple of hours without the issue surfacing.
For Adobe support and for others to know here is a wiki concerning the issue in CS5. FAQ:Why does my clip show as "media pending"? - Adobe Premiere Pro -
Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes When Importing HD Clips
I've used Camtasia forever but recently decided to "upgrade" to Premiere Pro when I got my new Macbook. Not being familiar with Premiere at all, I thought I would play with it with a few short clips. I have HD footage of my martial arts class which I shot with my Canon Vixia HG20 and copied it to my Macbook. However, when I imported a few clips into Premiere Pro and try to play it, it hangs. It will play one or two clips and then it stops responding after that.
All in all, it's only about 2 minutes of footage that I've put into Premiere Pro. I have no problems putting the clips into the Timeline but when I try to preview the clips (either in the source monitor or the program monitor windows), Premiere Pro gives me the little rainbow pinwheel and 20 minutes later, it's still spinning around. I bought a 500Gb external hard drive to use as the scratch disk because I thought maybe it was a space issue having everything on my Macbook but I still get the pinwheel. My only solution is to force quit the program.
I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro on OS X (10.5.6) with 4GB of memory, GeForce 8600M graphics card, and 200GB hard drive. I've read about a of of the crashes on here but didn't really see anything similar to my situation. Any ideas? I spent a lot on Premiere Pro and am not willing to give up on it quite yet.
Please and thank you!17 Mbps is still at the high end, but IMHO they should ultimately work.
Very often with AVCHD, you have to play a clip until it freezes, then wait. If you monitor CPU usage during the waiting time, you'll see that it is quite active. The process using the CPU is the ImporterProcessServer, which has to do some kind of magical stuff to the AVCHD clips in order for them to play and scrub in Pr. Once the IPS is done, you should be able to scrub and play the clip just fine.
Usually you only have to do this once per clip, but sometimes more. Sometimes the work that the IPS does carries over between Pr sessions, and sometimes it doesn't.
Smaller frame sizes and lower bit rates in AVCHD video helps make the editing experience in Pr much better.
My hope is that the upcoming 4.1 update will address some of these AVCHD issues.

Premiere Pro keeps crashing when using overwrite (.) shortcut in Source Monitor
When editing a clip in the source monitor and then using the (.) key to overwrite the clip onto my timeline Premiere Pro keeps crashing. If I select the Timeline window and then press the (.) key it works fine, but if the Source Monitor is highlighted and I press (.) it crashes every time and shows these windows:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
[/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/mightykilt/shared/
adobe/Mediacore/Backened/Make/Mac/../../Src/
Sequence/LinkContainer.cpp-184]
and then opens this one:
Adobe Premiere Pro
Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires
Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to
save your current project.
It saves my current project as a copy, which is good, but I've now ended up with lots of copies of the same project as it keeps on crashing. In order to work I have to make sure that the Timeline is highlighted before I use the shortcut. It makes for very precarious and tense editing!

I'm using a MacBookPro 15", OS X 10.8.4 and editing footage filmed at 24fps 1920x1080 on my Canon 550D/T2i. All .MOV files.
I purchased my software from iSoftware.co.uk. I'm worried that could be the problem.
Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.
SamA crash with a very similar error message was fixed in the new CC release. The bug report in that case involved creating a multi-cam sequence, so it might not be directly related.
If you have a chance to download the CC trial, we'd be interested to know whether the crash remains in the new version. -
Hi,
I am using Premiere pro and lately it keeps crashing every 10-15 minutes. I have closed all programs and am only running Premiere pro. I check the activity monitor and it looks like the inactive memory keeps increasing. I have searched for this on the web and found I can "purge" it from the command line. Still premiere pro keeps crashing. This is very frustrating. I cannot keep working like this.
I have a Mac OS version 10.8.5. 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7. Memory is 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. Startup Disk is Macintosh HD.
I have no idea what is causing this. It seems to be random, but I think it happens often when I am playing the video after making some modifications to the timeline (e.g., changing zoom, audio, etc.).
Thanks.you may want to try switching the renderer to software only if its not already. this is an option when creating a new project, or from the menu, project settings.

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information

Premiere Pro CC Crashes on Start-up
Premiere Pro CC Crashes on Start-up
(I have checked out the forms on here before posting.) CC was working great before my SSD died.
My Previous SSD died and I had it replaced with a new Samsung SSD 840 Series
and Premiere Pro CC started crashing on launch. I also have CS5.5 installed and that works fine.
Windows 7 Enterprise (service Pack 1)
64bitProcessor: Intel Xeon CPU, W3670 @3.20 GHz 3.19GHz with 24 GB Ram
Quadro 4000 Driver version 320.92 was 311.35
Samsung SSD 840 Series
What I have done to solve the problem:
I have updated the drivers for both the intel cpu and the video card, I have also sign out of adobe creative cloud and signed back in. I have also un-installed premeire and re-installed it mulitple times.
Premeire will run if I change the compatibiltiy setting to windows 7 or Windows server 2008(service Pack 1) that works but it's super slow (and O mean unusable). I would like it to run as fast as it was before my harddrive died and not in a compatibiltiy setting.
Currently the Premiere Pro CC hangs up when its "loading ImporterQuicktime.prm" then gives a "Adobe Premiere Pro Startup Error" - "Could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again" which I have tried updated the driver with no-luck.
At a last resort I reformatted the harddrive and re-installed windows and went back to the old video drivers version 311.35 (which is the adobe approved drivers for CS6) but the same outcome accrued.
Thanks for the Help.I have had almost exactly the same issue Kevin - I even got tot the point of re formatting my HD too. Seriously frustrating.
I have a Samsung Chronos 7 i7 NoteBook.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 - 2675QM CPU @2.20GHz
8GB RAM
64 bit Operating system
Windows 7.
My drivers are updated for: Intel / AMD Grpahics cards
Java Updated and installed.
SW Updated - Up to date
All windows updates installed.
Quicktime 7.7.4 Pro Installed.
Google Chrome Web Browser.
I was told by an Adobe Tech that the issue lies with the Intel and AMD cards conflicting. That Prem Pro CC only wants to use the AMD card but the Intel is being used first. Having spoken to Samsung techs they say that outside of using 'Catalyst Control Center' (which has aslo been updated) there's no way of doing that. : I
PLEASE someone say there's a solution to all this. Prem pro is my primary source of income as a freelancer. Plus I've spent over 7 hours on the phone to both Samsung and Adobe and my head is about to melt. -
Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2
Been working on the SAME big project over 18 months, in Pr Pro CC, 2014, working on the SAME PC:
Win 7 SP1 pro 64bit, i7-3770K, 32GB fast memory (25.7 available for Pr), Intel HD 4000 graphics on Asus motherboard with 30" NEC Multisync screen at 2560 x 1600 (same as for years)
42GB free on my SSD drive C: and 54GB free on my SSD drive S: for preview files, 24GB free on my SSD drive T: for caching files. Project files etc stored on a normal hard drive F: (for Files!) 1.25TB free.
NOW last update to 2014.2 and I get constant RANDOM crashes (Windows encountered a fault and had to close this program) despite updating graphics driver and trying different settings in preferences, use mercury etc. No particular action causes it - sometimes I am just watching it play a sequence and it just stops. Though of course it may be rendering the last edit at the time.
Sometimes it runs for all of 15 mins and I think the problem has sorted then it goes again and I have to restart the project, find where I was and re-do my last edits. If I remember to press Ctrl-S very frequently (every few seconds) it seems to run for a while then I forget for 5 mins and it crashes.
Grrrr what did you do to the latest version, Adobe?? I need to get this project finally finished in a hurry.... I wish I had not updated the program! Of course I cannot go back as it says the saved copy is now incompatible with earlier Pr Pro versions.
I then tried running a previous version at the same time, as simonray suggested in his post - it worked! So I am able to continue as normal provided I do this stupid bodge fix.
So it really is down to Adobe as it is the same project, same PC, just different version update. You did something to a great, stable, program that made it unstable, Adobe...
To ANSWER RAMEEZ from previous thread:
A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin. >> DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING since 1½ years running previous PrPro versions on SAME PROJECT on SAME PC
the graphics driver Checked for latest version - didn't stop the crashing
third-party plug-ins - don't have any
a problem with the cache files. I am using the same 2 x SSD I have been using for years for autosave and caching. 54GB free space / 24GB free space (current cache in place)
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...) Doesn't apply
the Preferences files be set to read-only How would that happen? Never happened before on any other update and I can change it.
the user not having administrator rights Only one user on PC since installation, full rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting Haven't changed anything
a problem on the licensing/authentication side. I'm signed up to full Adobe CC. Everything else works, Ps, Lr, Id ...
A log file might help identify the cause of the crash. Please right-click 'My Computer', select "Manage," look under 'Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application' to see if there's an event there from Premiere Pro. If so, copy the contents of that log and paste them here.

Thanks,
RameezProblem Solved! (with a small catch)
While searching crashing issues I came across this thread,"Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2"
Marc_Lec Answered (and I paraphrase here)"...I had the same problem and this is what I did. In 'Preferences Memory' I increased the memory reserved for other application to at least half the installed and changed the optimize render from 'performance' to 'memory."
Thank You Marc_Lec for what has been a game changer for me since my last computer and the beginning of PremiereCC problems.
I changed my Memory reserved for Other Applications from the default 7gigs to 1/2 of my approx.31 available Gigs = 16Gigs. Viola!
No more crashing what-so-ever!
I still have to purchase an older GTX 980 graphics card to take advantage of Adobe's approved code to utilize X=Cuda Cores and GPU, but I think I'll hang onto my new TitanX, in hopes that Adobe will write code and approve it someday in the near future.
Now why doesn't Adobe say this officially about Memory Settings? (I don't know maybe they do and I missed I somewhere)
Mine and probably many peoples computers problems here on this board may be attributed to a simple Memory adjustment, because the computer needs more than 7Gigs to run itself, not to mention Premiere. -

Premiere pro CS4 crashes at startup
Hi,
My Premiere pro CS4 crashes upon startup every time i run it.
My system:
Vista Business 64bit
Intel Duo Core 2 2.6ghz
4gb ddr2 ram
NVidia GeForce 9600M GT
I have tried running the program as an administrator, removing all plugins, and reinstalling.
I've attached my crash repport, can anyone please help.
- MJI tried the QT thing with no joy and I was using the 7.5.5 build.
I've already listed my system, but here it is again: Asus Maximus Extreme, intel q6600, 4gigs DDR3 1600mhz, 8800 gtx oc, 3x750gigs.
Deficient? Hardly since my 2.2 duelcore, 3gigs ddr2 geforce 8600m gt laptop ran it fine.
As to hardware Premiere pro CS4 is the only program my rig has an issue with After Effects CS4 ect works fine as does Premiere pro 2, but thats useless as I use AVCHD files.
I'm not sure what you mean by assets (my rig doesn't have any savings )
Project/Sequence settings I don't have any because I've just installed cs4 on this system.
Operator Error? Click on an icon Premiere pro CS4 loads without the welcome box it just bings when you try to use it. Can't see how it could be me, but I'd love to admit it was if i could get it working. -
Premiere Pro CC not queuing exports into Media Encoder CC
I try to make this simple...
standard export from PP CC to ME CC
File -> export -> media, then hit queue.
Media encoder opens and just sits there. Left it for hours to see if anything would ever happen, and nothing ever did.
I've restarted the programs and machine dozens of times and that does nothing.
I can still export from PP CC.
I have no CS6 products left on my box.
I also tried to open the project from Media Encoder and load the sequence that way with no luck.
Thanks for the help!

I had this exact same problem, and I figured out the solution in my case. I know the original problem report is ancient, but there are recent replies, so I am adding my solution here. I spent untold hours figuring this out, so hopefully this will save someone else some time.
There can be other causes to this problem, I'm sure. I'm just telling you about what fixed this problem for me.
Just to clarify, here is the symptom: Running Windows 8.1. Standard export from Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 to Media Encoder CC 2014.2, using File -> Export -> click Queue. Media Encoder opens and just sits there. Premiere Pro is hung and has to be forcibly terminated.
I spent countless hours on this. I thought I had messed up my computer's configuration somehow, so (believe it or not) I re-installed Windows on a freshly formatted hard disk, re-installed Creative Suite, same problem. (I can't believe I wasted all that time; I feel like a dummy.)
I finally narrowed it down to a very simple test case with a very tiny one-clip sequence that is less than one second long. Same problem.
It turned out to be a problem in the Premiere Pro project file itself. I suspect that a small file corruption somehow snuck into the project file, that was completely invisible. In that clip in my project, if I removed the "Vocal Enhancer" effect, the problem with exporting to Media Encoder went away. If I then re-added the very same "Vocal Enhancer" effect, the problem was still gone. It must be some small corruption in the ".prproj" file that went away when I removed the "Vocal Enhancer" effect and re-added it again.
NOTE: I DON'T think that there is some kind of bug with the "Vocal Enhancer" effect. I don't think this problem has anything to do with "Vocal Enhancer" per se. It is just some kind of small generic corruption in the project file. When Premiere Pro tries to export that sequence to Media Encoder, the problem occurs. It was just a coincidence in my case that removing and re-adding the "Vocal Enhancer" effect made the problem go away.
BOTTOM LINE: If you find that you have this bug where Premiere Pro hangs when exporting to the Media Encoder queue, try the following: Create a brand new project with a single clip in it, and export it to the Media Encoder queue. If that works, you know that it is not a problem with Premiere Pro in general; it's a problem in your specific project file. Once you've made this determination, make a copy of your original project file, and remove clips from the project until the problem goes away. Keep narrowing it down until you find the clip(s) that are the issue. Then, try removing and re-adding any effects on those clips, or even removing and re-adding the clips themselves, to fix the problem. Eventually, by removing and re-adding a specific effect or clip to your project, the problem will vanish (hopefully). It's just a matter of narrowing down which half of your project the problem occurs in, then which half of that half, etc., until you have it narrowed down to one clip or group of clips that need to be removed and re-added.
Having said all this, it is a bug that ideally should be fixed so someone else doesn't spend untold hours trying to figure out the problem. To that end, I create a tiny ZIP file that just has project file and the single media clip needed to reproduce the problem, along with a small description "READ ME.txt" file that explains the very simple steps to reproduce the problem. I have submitted this as a bug report to Adobe using their official online bug report form at www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform along with a link to the ZIP file so they can download and reproduce the problem.
If anyone else is curious about reproducing this same bug, you can also download the small ZIP file if you want to. I guarantee it doesn't have any viruses or anything - it's just two small files to reproduce the problem. To download the ZIP file containing that project file, media file, and "READ ME.txt" file, you can get it at www.forgaard.com/files/PremiereProBug.zip.
I hope this saves someone some time. This one sucked up a zillion hours of me chasing apparitions.
I was having a problem with exporting a sequence to AME. PPro would freeze and I would have to force the program to close. This was on a project where I was just running out a bunch of interview clips for the director to look at. One of them had a audio effect (DeHummer) on it, and it was the one that was giving me troubles. I selected the audio and right clicked then "Render and Replace" then it would export to AME with no issue. Thank you for your well written response to this thread. While it may not have fixed the OP's issue, it did help with mine....
