Problem in Export to Excel in WAD

Hi,
We are facing problems while using the "export to excel" feature in WAD.
While displaying the report in WEB or even RRMX, the display is fine for all fields of the report. However, when i use the export to excel feature from WAD, the fields with length of 24 characters are not displayed correctly.
It is displayed as "1.4E+23" (this feild displays numbers), whereas the number should be "140000000000000001232007".
Please can someone tell me what the possible problem could be.
Thanks in advance

• Issue with export in Excel in WAD

Hi
I have an issue with export to excel in WAD. I have a web template with two or more tabs.
On the webtemplate I have two buttons to export to excel. One to export the content from the active tab and one button to export content in all tabs.
My problem is that when I export to excel it always add the current/active content twice. I've tried with both buttons and they work as expected except that they export one table to much (the active).
can anyone help / give a clue what to look for.

Sorry I has been a while but the problem still occurs,
I've defined my export button group like this in a seperate template and I expected that it would only return the resultset from TAB_A and TAB_B but it also export the resultset from the tab I'm currently on.

• Problem in export to excel

Hello experts,
We have a WAD report having 2 (Bex 3.5) queries (say) Query A and Query B
we are using table inferface class to add the key figure of Query A with the key figure of Query B
and displaying the sum in the result area of Query B.
On executing this report we are getting the correct output.Since there are more than one data providers in the report
we are using a push button for 'Export to Excel'
When we export this report to excel using this push button the output of query B gets misaligned i.e.
col2 of query B displays result of column 4, column 4 displays result of col 7 and so on...
where are when i use the standard export to excel feature of context menu the output is correct.
Please suggest what may be reason behind this misalignment and what should we do to remove it.

• Problem in Exporting to Excel 2007 using CRServer 2008

Can anyone please help me know the difference between Crystal Reports Server 2008 and Business Objects XI R2? Both the support guides says that it supports Office 2007. I have a problem in exporting the reports to Excel 2007 .I have downloaded the trial version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 but still unable to view my complete reports in Excel 2007 through infoview because few of my report's colums are truncated and it still exports in Excel 2003.I have LiveOfficeXIR2_SP4 and Office 2007 installed. Is it so that i have to switch over to Business Objects XI R2 or any other to solve my problem instead of using Crystal Reports Server 2008 or is it the problem with the version of my Live office.Pls help me regarding this..
Babita.

Hi Ani,
First Thank you for your reply..I have already tried exporting it in Excel 2003 but since the limit is upto 256 columns and that my report's content exceeds this limit, few of the columns are truncated. Thats why i thought that it would be better to export it in Excel 2007. But i could'nt find any way to do it so..Pls help me if there is any other way..

• Currency format problem while exporting as excel

Hi
I have to create a report for which the currency format should be $#,##0.00 and -$#,##0.00 for negative numbers.
In the text form field of rtf template, I have selected number format and removed the portion ;($#,##0.00) from $#,##0.00;($#,##0.00).When I view the report as HTML the numbers are showing in proper format.($#,##0.00 or -$#,##0.00).But when the report is exported as excel ,the negative number format changes to ($#,##0.00) in red color.
Can anyone tell me how avoid this problem?
Thanks in advance
Naveen

I think this is an Excel issue - you can right mouse click in Excel the column header and "Format Cells>Text"
You could also append a ' character to your numbers in BI Answers ie: '6035784010491980 which should give you the correct format in Excel.
eg. CONCAT( '''', CAST ( '6035784010491980 AS CHAR) )
There is also an MS Office plug in available for OBIEE this may give you further options.

Yeah.. crystal has giving some issues while exporting reports without SPs, especialy previous versions.
So Better to install latest SP or patches for CR 10.0. I think SP 6 is the updated one for CR10.0.
For More info Go through this link,

• Problem on Export to Excel - converts Long type field to General (Unknown)

hello! i used JSP to export table data to excel.. there's nothing wrong with the data displayed.. But the problem is.. when one of the fields is computed and retrieved in the JSP, and then exported to excel, it converts the Long type field to General and therefore cannot be computed when being used in a formula. Also, when you change it's type by right clicking the cell and chose "Format Cells", it still can't change it's type to number even if you have it changed. Therefore can't be computed..
I have other number fields but they were just retrieved and not computed as they were exported to excel.. But they don't change their types like the computed ones..
please help.. thanks

hello! i used JSP to export table data to excel..Yuck. :p Didn't even consider it being possible. I'd use a servlet anyway, after all, it's designed to be able to stream out non-HTML.
there's nothing wrong with the data displayed.. But
the problem is.. when one of the fields is computed
and retrieved in the JSP, and then exported to excel,
it converts the Long type field to General and
therefore cannot be computed when being used in a
formula. Well, since there is no class in the standard API that handles Excel files, you migh want to ask the support of whoever provided your tool.

• ALV: Problem in exporting to excel with too many columns

Hi,
While exporting from ALV report to excel following issue was faced:
ALV report contains 81 columns out of which 67 columns are displayed properly but from 68th column onwards data is dispalyed on next row
I want all columns displayed on single row..
Any help will greatly appreciated..
Thanks,
Deepak

Hi Deepak,
I was browsing through these threads to find anwer for the same issue.
So thought of putting my analysis which helped me resolve my problem.
Analysis/Solution:
When we export ALV data to excel worksheet, as sap notes say the maximum lenght allowed is 1023 charaters and the max no of columns supported is 90.
(I never faced any issue related to no of columns as it worked fine for columns >90 too)
Issue occured when row size of exported data gets more than 1023 character.
Therefore the row data must not exceed 1023 character, otherwise column splits and moves to next row.
One additional aspect generally missed is that:
When data in any particular column changes it's length, alv header also changes its lengh (short text, medium text, long text; depending on the length of of the longest cell in the column)
therefore even if you have total length of row less than 1023 character, there might be cases when your ALV header size exceeds this length.
Hopefully it will be helpful for you too.
Regards,
Parveen

• Problem when exporting to excel (comma/dot?)

I am building a LV app to log and present temperature data. I have also added the possibility to export all values into exceel for further analysis. Only problem is that when I do this, e.g. a temp of 23.540 is read into excel as 23540. I've tried changing local setting, excel settings and so on, but since this app will be used by several people, all with different settings, I need the export process to work no matter what their individual settings are. (If this is not possible at all, a dot as separator is prefered). I'm thinking either to let excel know bu some API call, or I'm all open for suggestions.
I'm using LV 8.5 Full dev. system
Tried screenshotting only the relevant part, but it did not fit, so I'm attaching the main VI, the subVI's are not needed for that part of the problem.
Attaching output textfile, partial screenshot, excel screenshot and main VI

a) There is a switch in the float to string function called "use system decimal point". Set that to
true and all data should match on the local computer.
b) The format into string function can format floats using either decimal separator.
"%.;%f" will format using the decimal separator.
"%,;%f" will format using the comma separator.
These format commands are described in the LabVIEW help file.
Before you write the spreadsheet, your program can perform an experiment
with a string constant. Convert the string "8.2" to a float and convert the string
"8,2" to a float. Whichever is correct determines the format string to use.
Sharing the excel files between two computers with different decimal separator
is a different matter. This is where data stored in binary format, like a cluster datalog,
is an advantage.

• Problem with Export to Excel from ALV view.

Hello @all,
i have a problem on my webdynpro application. I use the component SALV_WD_TABLE. I become display my data but when i want to export the table to ecel, i became a short dump with the message in the browser: Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.
When i look at ST22. The system show this text.
What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CP" had to be
terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL', was no
caught in
procedure "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD" "(METHOD)
was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
You attempted to use a 'NULL' object reference (points to 'nothing')
access a component (variable: "LR_HEADER").
An object reference must point to an object (an instance of a class)
before it can be used to access components.
Either the reference was never set or it was set to 'NULL' using the
CLEAR statement.
How to correct the error
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED" "CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL"
"CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CP" or "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CM0
"IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure
"IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD" "(METHOD)", or its
possible occurrence must be declared in the
RAISING clause of the procedure.
To prevent the exception, note the following:
Information on where terminated
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CP" -
in "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD".
The main program was "SAPMHTTP ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 19
of the (Include) program "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CM030".
The termination is caused because exception "CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL" occurred in
procedure "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD" "(METHOD)", but
it was neither handled locally nor declared
in the RAISING clause of its signature.

Did you try the following Export options?
1. Export Page Headers and Footers: On Each Page
2. Create Page Breaks for Each Page
When exported with these options the page Header and Footer section was exported as it was in the report.

• Encountering problems with exporting complex excel sheets to SWF

Please help me with this problem:
I have a complex Excel sheet, with functions like VERT.LOOKUP, INDEX etc. This should work in Xcelsius, but I have problems when having a preview in SWF. In the Xcelsius Present 2008 drawing window, all buttons work perfectly, but when I preview it, all outcomes are gone (buttons do work).
When removing VERT.LOOKUP and table shortnames (see example) it sometimes does work. So my guess is that SWF does not support VERT.LOOKUP and/or table shortnames. Does anyone know anything about this problem and maybe can help me? I use the 30-day trial version of Xcelsius Present.
Table example:
_______PROD1____PROD2____PROD3
YEAR1___10________20________30
YEAR2___20________15________50
YEAR3___30________10________100
In Excel, when you give names to this table (Insert/Name/Make --> columns & rows), you can get info out of this table with the simple function =YEAR1 PROD2. --> 20.
Thank you very much!

Yeah, I know. But VERT.LOOKUP is supported. The strange thing about this is dat Xcelsius is displaying is well when not in the preview mode.
