Problem with Compression (Deflater & GZip)

Hi All,
I've large data as a String which I need to save in Oracle in VARCHAR2 column. As Varchar2 allows maximum of 4000 characters, I wish to compress this String and save in DB.
I tried to compress the String using Delfater and GZip. In both methods I uses Streams concep (DeflaterOutputStream, GZipOutputStream) and both Classes have the option to return the Compressed data in byte[] and String format.
When I returned in String format, the same String is giving error while decompressing "java.util.zip.ZipException: incorrect data check". How to solve this problem.
When I tried to save the compressed String in DB (Oracle),
initially I got the error "java.sql.SQLException: Malformed SQL92 string at position: 1109"
and later I tried to save like this 'strCompressed.replace("'","''") i.e., I replaced all single quotes to 2-single quotes and the error message is "java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00911: invalid character".
Is there any character to replace in the compressed String. and how to solve the problem with decompression.
Please help me in this.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Pavan Pinnu.

both Classes have the option to return the Compressed data in byte[] and String format.Don't do that. String is not a container for binary data. You can't use it for compressed data. Use the byte[], send the byte[] to the database, get it back from the database, uncompress it, and then turn that back into a String.

  • Mapping problem with compressed key update record

    Hi, could you please advise?
    I'm getting the following problem:
About a week ago replicat abened with "Error in mapping" error. I found in discard file some record looking like:
    filed1 = NULL
    field2 =
    field3 =
    field4 =
    field5 =
    datefield = -04-09 00:00:00
    field6 =
    field8 =
    field9 = NULL
    field10 =
    Where filed9 = @GETENV("GGHEADER", "COMMITTIMESTAM"), field10 = = @GETENV("GGHEADER", "COMMITTIMESTAM"), others are table fields mapped by USEDEFAULTS
So I got Mapping problem with compressed key update record at 2012-06-01 15:44
I guess I need to mention that extract failed in 5 minuts before it with: VAM function VAMRead returned unexpected result: error 600 - VAM Client Report <[CFileInfo::Read] Timeout expired after 10 retries with 1000 ms delay, waiting to read transaction log or backup files. To increase the number of retries, use SETENV (GGS_CacheRetryCount = n) in Extract parameter file. To control retry delay time, use SETENV (GGS_CacheRetryDelay = n). handle: 0000000000000398 ReadFile GetLastError:997 Wait GetLastError:997>.
I don't know if it has ther same source as data corruption, could you tell me if it is?
Well, I created new extract, starting 2012-06-01 15:30 to check if there was something with extract at the time, but got the same error.
If I run extract beging at 15:52 it starts and works.
But well, I got another one today. Data didn't look that bad, but yet one column came with null value:( And I'm using it as a key column, so I got Mapping problem with compressed key update record again:(
I'm replicating from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11g.
I'm actually using NOCOMPRESSUPDATES in Extract.
CDC is enabled for all tables replicated. The only thing is that it is enabled not by ADD TRANDATA command, but by SQL Server sys.sp_cdc_enable_table, does it matter?
Could you please advise why does it happen?

Well, the problem begins somewhere in extract or before extract, may be in transaction log, I don't know:(

    Regards,
    Manish

The SCRP_CODE column has a NOT NULL constraint. The ORA-01407 error is telling you that you cannot update or set a value for this column to null because of the constraint. This has absolutely nothing to do with an index. You can use a marker/sentinel value in lieu of using NULL. For a numeric field, where everything is positive, a negative value (-1) can be decoded as meaning null. For a character field, a code such as NA can represent NULL.
This also has nothing to do (directly) with GoldenGate failing because of this error. The underlying SQL statement will fail everywhere, regardless of the tool or application. It is not a case of failing only in GoldenGate.

  • Problems with compressed words in emails sent through Outlook in Office for Mac 2011

I have had problems with sending emails through Outlook both when:
    1) I copied text from a Word document and pasted into an email.
    2) I shared as HTML and sent an email.
The problem I experience is that emails are received with random spaces dropped, such that words get merged together.
I have spoken with Microsoft and have been told that problems with the copy and paste from Word into Outlook is a known issue.
However, I have been told that I should be able to "Share as an HTML" in an email without issue. However, the very same problem exists.
Now I am told that this may be a problem with my documents. However, I have had a colleague use my docs in the same way in Outlook on his PC without a problem. The other possibility I am told is that possibly I have a problem with my OS.
Have others expererienced the same problem?

Is your Outlook window formatted as HTML or text only? A word file has formatted text. If you want to copy only the text from your Word file, you should make a detour over a TextEdit window, or if you have BBEdit like follows:
Copy your Word text, paste it into a TextEdit window - in this window you have to make a command first SHIFT + COMMAND + T if you have a window allowing formatting ("rich text"). Copy it once again - all the Meta formatting from Word are eliminated now! - and paste the text into your Outlook Window.
If you want to send an HMTL Email, I am not sure, whether a copy and paste between Word and Outlook will work. This would mean, that the copy and paste should transform the Word-formatting into HTML-formatting fit for Outlook. Perhaps some others could answer this question.

  • Problem with compressing 16:9 sequence into mpeg-1

    Hello,
I am having a problem compressing from Final Cut via Compressor into an Mpeg-1 file. I shot (and edited) in 16:9 but the Mpeg-1 files keep turning out squeezed up in 4:3. I can't find any settings in Compressor to change, and I've looked in the Compressor manual but can't find any help there either. The dimensions are greyed out in the Inspector.
I have only a limited grasp of Compressor so if anyone has the patience to explain how to fix this in words of one syllable I would be really grateful.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello again,
    Sorry for the long pause.
I found a way round this problem initially by copying my sequences into a new FCP 4:3 project and they automatically became letterboxed, however there was a loss of quality so I would like to try this again. Where I got up to was, when I went into the Inspector window and clicked on the Filters tab, there's nothing in there to select. There's a video tab saying 'check the box to add a Filter', but then nothing there to check - just an empty table headed 'Name'.
Any advice on getting the filters to show up?
Many thanks for all your help.

  • Problems with compression plugins in CS5.5

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue using the compression plugins powered by iZotope in Audition 5.5.  The plugin seems to work but the GUI does not so I'm unable to change any of the settings.  I can hear the differences as a switch between the built in presets but when I open it the GUI is just blank.  Once I open the Presets drop-down menu the display will appear but in a snapshot of whatever what showing (meters and everything) at the moment I hit the dropdown menu.  From there I even have control of the parameters in as much as the pointer will change from an arrow to a finger over the sliders I can change but since the GUI doesn't change at all, it makes any editing very difficult.  I basically just blind move something and then hit the menu again to make the view refresh and see how many decibels it changed...  Are these regular VST plugins?  What could be causing it?  Does it rely on Java or something?  The applications are all updated, I tried closing out of all other adobe programs (I had Premiere running at first), OSX is up to date, and I'm kind of out of ideas.  Any takers?

Yes, exactly, looks like glitch in the video. After I stop moving with object, everything is ok again. But not immidiatelly, there is a little delay (1 or 2 seconds). It doesn´t demage my work, it´s only glitch effect. But it delay me in work, it´s not pleasant to work with this glitch effects

  • Problems with compression?

    Hi guys,
I've been on Logic for about 6 years now. Now hear me out before jumping to conclusions please. It's important to me to resolve this problem and I need your guys' expertise and help to do it.
I make dance music and therefore sidechain the compressor to a kick many of the times. My favorite preset has always "Pumping Class A" or "Type R Pumping". The preset indicates that the gain is +15dB on both. Now, one would think that this would cause the sound to distort. However, for 6 years, I have not had a single issue with distorting sound.
All of a sudden, without any update or reinstallation, these presets are now distorting. So, basically, all of my previous projects using this preset are now completely messed up in terms of the mix.
Now here comes my suspicion. My label asked me to make a radio edit of previous track I just completed. When I opened the session and sound it was also affected by this problem (all projects have been so far), I decided to re-mix it by turning the gain down to 0dB in the compressor. Here's the weird thing. One of my instruments was still distorting, but the sound didn't sound like distortion as much as a "crunch" if that makes sense.
Any ideas? I really want to just go back to normal. What happened!?
    Thanks for your time guys.
    -- Michael Badal

Are you using multi out instruments? If so always use channel 1 for sidechaining. Bit of a bug here sometimes...
Say if I use my Virus Ti for Bass and send it out USB 3+4, then sidechain with a kick from somewhere else I often get distortion accross everything not just the Bass. If I use Ti main USB out 1+2 this happens less reguarily.
Another option is to bounce the Bassline and Kick track then sidechain the audio results.
As mysticfig said Logic has almost limitless headroom on channels because it uses 32bit floating point algorithims, when you get to the master out the soundcard is responsible for processing so many soundcards will exhibit digital clipping when you have anything in red over digital 0dbfs. Just another possibility?

  • Problem with compression with flash cs3

our web developper says that she was unable to compress image

    Thanks

    Mark,
    > I have set my publish settings to Flash Player 9.0 and
    Actionscript
    > 3.0, but keep getting an error as follows:
    >
    > "WARNING: The component 'FLVPlayback' requires
    ActionScript 2.0."
Gotcha. You must have started the document in AS2, then
    changed the
publish settings. Each version of the language has its own
    version of the
FLVPlayback Component (written in the relevant language).
    Start over and
compare two compleley new FLA documents: make one for AS3 and
    one for AS2.
Open the Components panel and note the differences between
    the two. There
are a different set of Components depending on the language
    chosen for the
document. Drag the FLVPlayback Component from the Components
    panel in an
AS3 document, and you'll have the AS3 version.

There are no files being copied to $startdir/pkg because you didn't tell the application's build system to do that properly.  The error message is because tar is trying to add the * file to the archive, but the * file doesn't exist.
I left it because I didn't want to type all that, figured someone else would jump in, and figured you were smart enough to figure it out on your own.

  • Problems with compressed file

Hi I compressed a file and put it on a data DVD for safekeeping however now I try to open it it won't work. I get an Error 1 - Operation not permitted. I have tried uncompressing it through stuffit with no success. I have checked the permissions and there is an "unknown" on there with read only permission. Might this be the issue? Any help would be much appreciated as these are videos of my baby daughter. Good tip if no one can help that compressing it might corrupt the files.

You may have to drag the file to your hard drive's Users -> yourname folder before you can decompress it. If it works, then that means Stuffit decompresses files using temporary files at the source of the file itself, and is complaining that it can't write to DVD, since it is a DVD-ROM, which means read-only memory.

  • File Share Search problem with Compress file

I have a content source in SharePoint 2013 search which crawl files from a file share. Some of the files have "Compress contents to save disk" attribute set to true.
These files are being crawled as I can see them in Crawl logs. But when I search for these documents in search center, it only return the documents which don't have compression attribute set.  I have even tried searching document title. Any idea?

    Hi Rashid,
What keyword did you use for searching the compressed file?
As your description, I set a file as the below:
Then I created a File Share content source pointed to the folder which contains the file, then start a full crawl.
After crawling, I went to my search center, and searched, the result was:
When you search the compressed file, check whether the item title returns a part of the content of the document.
