Why was a loyal customer banned from online purchases without even a warning or a phone call?

Today I tried to use 10 gift cards online to purchase another gift card. I want to be clear. In doing so there was no warning or deterent for me to try and do so. I tried was because I read a response from BB Social Media Specialist John-BBY that it could be done in the store: http://www.forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-Store-Purchase/Can-you-combine-best-buy-gift-cards/td-p/86... So I figured why not see if it works online. The order was processed and then canceled. I then tried to order a portion of a larger gift card with some of my existing giftcards and then put the rest on my credit card (which has the same billing address as the shipping address for the delivery) and it was canceled again. I am not a theif nor am I trying to launder money. I am simply trying to combine the gift cards my wife and I have aquired (many of which we only have the number and the pin for) so that I can purchase 1 large item at BB. I know I can only use the numbers + pin at bestbuy.com. I cannot use them in the store as I do not have a physical card nor an e-gift card with a bar code.
Because I am not doing anything illegal or trying to fraud anyone, I promptly called BB on the phone to make sure they know I am really me. I spoke with a nice rep who while pleasant enough, gave me the unfortunate news that my bestbuy.com purchasing privileges have been revoked?! That there was nothing that she could do. That now I have to wait 5-7 days while it is reviewed by the risk department. My case number is {removed per forum guidelines}. This seems EXTREME right?! Why if you have no GLARING public warning at checkout would you cancel ALL of my privileges to purchase online? I write software for a living. This is clearly a CATCH all fraud mechanism built into your sales system. Why don't you just put an error message on the order form saying that you are not allowed to purchase giftcards with giftcards online? Writing, testing and releasing the code for that simple error message would take a fraction of the man hours that "investigating" my single case is going to take. Let alone the possibly hundreds of other customers that you put through this rigamarole. Without any warning how are people supposed to know?!
I am certainly not a new bestbuy customer. I have a fantastic purchase history by any retailer's standards. Especially one with such heavy competition. I am a "MY" Best Buy member. I have the Best Buy credit card. I have bought things at bestbuy.com over and over again for 5+ years! What better shining example of a loyal customer do you want?! This is a HUGE pain in my butt. I simply want to use my 12 gift cards of varying balances to purchase 1 single product. What can you do for me? The customer satisfaction/social media PR team has to be able to do something. A resounding "Our hands are tied" sounds like a real loud lack of trying. In anyone's mind (employee or not) if no one can help me this has to be seen as a huge let down of a loyal customer and a understandable reason for me to start bringing my business elsewear. I don't think I have ever been treated like this by Amazon.

Having said that, we are only able to accept up to 10 gift cards per transaction on BestBuy.com, and this could explain why you were unable to combine all 12 of your gift cards at one time. If you wish to do so, I’d suggest visiting your local store as they may combine up to 15 at one time. It’s understandable how this would be problematic though if you no longer have a physical copy of some of your gift cards, so I’ve sent you a private message to gather some additional information from you. I purchased and downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 from Amazon and when I try to open it, it's asking for a "Redemption Code". Where do I get the that code?

When I try to open the Adobe software, it asks from the Redemption Code when on an Adobe web site. The instructions that came in the download say that this is a 24 digit code of numbers and letters. The only thing I got from Amazon was an Order Key, which is also 24 digits, but only numbers and the software didn't like that code… I walked through the steps on the Adobe web site to get my redemption code, but the final step before giving me my redemption code is to enter my redemption code… I have to enter the code for them to give me the code…??? Am I missing something??? Do I get this "Redemption Code" from Amazon, or from Adobe?

You would get the redemption code, or perhaps even the serial number, from whomever you purchased the software from, apparently Amazon, so talk to them. This wouldn’t be the first time they’ve sold something that didn’t have all the numbers needed to license it.
A redemption code is something that is usually on the inner disc packaging if you purchase the media in a box, and there is a barcode on the outside of the packaging that must be scanned at the checkout register to activate the hidden inner code so you can redeem it at home on that website. This is what happens if you buy PSE from a brick-and-mortar store like Best Buy. I don’t’ know what happens if you purchase the downloaded version as I have never done that.
A redemption code is 24-digits of letters and numbers that you enter into a website to get a serial number, once and only once. The serial number of only 24-digits, no letters, is what you enter into the software during the install or when you run it and it asks if you want to register or run in a trial mode—whatever the exact phrasing is.
In any case it sounds like you don’t have either a redemption code or serial number—although perhaps something is listed on the purchase confirmation or your account online at Amazon or even in an e-mail from Amazon.

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 professional for Mac version 8.1.5 trying to upgrade to 11.0.9 but when I download the update it fails to grab the application. Although its visible, to advise to install the update it will not allow me to click on update. I am using a MacMini running on
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.

From AA 8, you have to purchase the full AA XI. There is no upgrade for products before AA 9. You should not have been able to purchase XI from Adobe as an upgrade with only 8 as the prior product.

There are a couple of ways you can find it:
1. Follow the instructions on this page: Find your serial number quickly ; or,
2. Retrieve it from the Lightroom 4.0 Registration.lrreg file in the following directory on Windows: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Lightroom
If yo are using a MAC look at: Preference and other file locations | Lightroom 4 and it should explain where the registration file is.

not sure you can get "student discount" for this app. you will have to ask more detail from your Apple representative.
when you click/ order some merchandise from the Apple store (https://store.apple.com), there's link at bottom of page (like "Apple Store US," "Education Store," "Business," or "Government Store"). you click on the [Education Store] & in the prompt you enter the name of your university/school. but Logic Pro is not purchased here.
you have to purchase Logic Pro from the App Store... and APP store doesn't have [Education Store] link. so your Apple representative in Prague may have a different way to complete this. or Apple World Wide.

do you have a white box inside the outer box and containing the disc sleeve/disc? In my case, it was on the white box. For Photoshop elements it is all numeric and starts with 1057.

Are you saying you bought a computer with CS4 suite already installed on the computer?
There are several versions of Creative Suite 4 that have different applications depending on the version you bought.
Computers don't normally come with preinstalled software that ranges in price from approximately $600 to over $2000.
You should have the disks for CS4 somewhere or if you downloaded it, you can download again for the link in message 5 above.
And No, you cannot find the complete serial # on your old Mac.
Adobe abbreviates the serial number shown in the application.
