Rename a Project

How do I rename a Project ?

Hi there,
I am using JSC2.1. I have accidentally named a project with a space in the name. My hosting service tells me that the space is causing a problem. If I can't rename the project, what can I do to get the work that I have done (a lot) into a new project?
Thanks.

  • Renaming a Project causes error when running locally

The app uses an HTTPservice on a remote webserver. I have
been running the same app locally for weeks. I occasionally publish
up to the web server and all has been fine.
I renamed the project (in the IDE) but now anytime I try to
run the app locally I get:
[RPC Fault faultString="Security error accessing url"
    faultCode="Channel.Security.Error" faultDetail="Destination:
    DefaultHTTP"]
Still works fine when pushed to the web server.
I have other apps that work fine locally and hit the same web
    server for HTTPservice.
I tried renaming other projects and found that the same
problem occured each time the project was renamed.
    Any suggestions?

Found the cause of the problem, its FlashFireBug in Mozilla. When a swf is launched FlashFirebug tries to capture the swf, this messes up mobile apps running on the desktop.

  • Renaming RH8 project under VSS control.

    Hello All!
My problem is that most of my projects were created in RH X5 and there are project directories and image files with spaces in the names. This never seemed to be a problem with X5.
But now we are in the process of updating our various projects to RH8 and the spaces in directories and files has created a huge time consuming problem that I am sorting through project-to-project.
Now I have found some RH projects with RH project-generated files (xpj, syn, stp, ppf, phr, ign, hhk, hhc, glo, brs, ali) that have spaces because the projects were initially created with spaces in the names.
I tried to just do a file>rename, but the rename option is greyed out in the menu. I opened several projects and it appears to be the same across the board--the rename option is unavailable for any projects in VSS.
Just to be sure, I created a new project ("test project" with a space in the name) NOT under VSS and was able to rename to "test_project" with no problem.
Is it possible to rename RH8 projects when they are under Visual Source Safe?
If spaces in file names are bad in RH8, then I'm assuming that spaces in the project-generated files are also bad.
Can anyone advise me in this situation?

    Thanks for responding, Leon.
Unfortunately, we upgraded the X5 license to RH 8 and can no longer use X5.
Also, I was a bit confused on the instructions in RSC, since I am using VSS.
    Does VSS work through RSC?
I've been thinking about this problem I have with spaces in file names....I know how to eliminate them from my image files and directories, so no problem there--it's just time consuming, but I know it has to be done. Now I'm wondering if it is REALLY a bad thing to have spaces in those RH-generated files (like xpj).  RH8 does allow projects to be created with spaces in them which results in those RH-generated files having spaces in them.
So on one hand, the RH Help says no spaces in file names/paths and on the other hand, it will create file names with spaces when the project is created that way! Does anyone know if spaces in RH-generated files (like xpj) are really a problem? Maybe I'm trying to fix something that doesn't need to be fixed.
    Thx, Deb

  • HAVE TO KEEP RENAMING THE PROJECT or I can't view it

    OK... here's the process...
I compile (layout is HTML), then get the "view results"
button like always. I click on that... nothing happens... SO.. i go
directly to the CHM file and double click to view it from there....
but i get an error that says that the file cannot be opened.
If i try to RE-compile using the same file name, i get an
error that the file is already open in another window.. and that i
should close all HTML windows. However, the only windows open are
the regular RH HTML windows where i am authoring.
SOOOOOOOOOO.. i have to recompile and rename the project,
then not use the "view result" button, but then go the the chm file
and open from there... OK FINE.. BUT... i have to rename the
    project EVERYTIME i compile.
I've not had this problem before.. what have i done to cause
    this problem?
    THANKS!

    Hi all,
I have been having the same problem of late. I have not
changed anything by way of file locations.
I can compile a CHM file and I can "usually" launch it by
clicking the view file choice after it has been compiled.
But, if I then make some edits and recompile during the same
session I am unable to open the newly compiled file.
I need to exit RH and then recompile again in order to open
    the new CHM file.
Then the process starts all over again.
If I try to launch the CHM file by double clicking on it I
    get the following error message:
    Cannot open the file:@MSITStore:D:\RoboHelp Office\.....
What I have noticed is a bunch of "new" folders being created
    in my Help project folder.
They are all tmp folders but they are all empty.
The folder names are sequential, so a new one looks to be
    created each time I compile.
    The names are:
    !chm_tmp_folder_0
    !chm_tmp_folder_1
    !chm_tmp_folder_2
    etc.
Oh, and I have rebooted my computer since the problem
    started.
I am running WinXP Pro SP2.
I tried deleting the CHM file so that I could recompile but I
received an error message indicating that the file could not be
deleted because it is being used by another person or program.
I checked Task Manager and the CHM file is not open.
If I exit RH then I can delete the CHM file. But, if I have
to close RH I don't need to delete the CHM file anyway.
    I would appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Rename a project in JDeveloper 10g?

I have discovered an urgent required need to re-name a local JDeveloper 10g project.
I doubt it's as simple as just renaming the top jws file, due to underlying elements that take their names from the parent project.
I've seached the JDev documentation and have not found a reference that would help me to rename my project without instantly breaking the entire project.
Do any of you know how I should approach this renaming need?

    Hi,
seletc the project and choose File/rename from the menu. Thic changes the project.jpr file name. All directory namings remain

  • Renaming LPX Project-(folder) Audio-files by track name?

    Hi
Is there any way or command to rename LPX Project folder Audio-files by track name automatically?

If you're really using that version of L8, you really need to get the software update for that - there were quite a few glaringly obvious faults with the initial release of Logic 8, which a couple of updates rectified.
I can't guarantee that the particular problem you specified is one of them, but you defininitely should do that...

  • Valuable lesson learned: renaming a project

Some words of advice just in case I can save someone else the many hours of pain I just went through.
I was mixing an album of nine songs, and one of them - which had been behaving perfectly well to start with - started crashing logic in a bad way whenever I tried to bounce it. Logic didn't even throw a crash report most of the time - it just flat out quit, and looking at the console showed lots of what looked like memory leakage errors. I tried disabling plugins in turn, copying the project to another drive, trashing Logic prefs, restoring from a backup copy... everything I could think of, to no avail.
I couldn't figure out why it was just this project and none of the others (which all had similar plugins and track counts). Then it occurred to me that this was only project I had renamed - I had corrected a spelling mistake in the folder in the course of mixing... from the Finder.
If you need to rename a song or project, ALWAYS use the File->Project->Rename... option in Logic. NEVER do it from the Finder.
Thankfully, Logic is forgiving, and consolidating and renaming my project using the proper method fixed it, and it's now bounced. But I had a seriously frantic few hours where I really thought this project was hosed forever.
    Okay. Be careful out there.

    LOL!  Thanks for sharing Norbert.
I totally agree with you.  The funny part of the story is that I had not anticipated that the portion of the code in question would "change".  Or rather, I had not foreseen the fact that it would be needed as part of the data that would need to be restored.
The beauty is that the experience demonstrates how well suited OOP is for scalability.  And like you said mixing normal data flow with OO can become messy, so usually not a good idea.
I did exaggerate when I said "EVERYTHING" should be OO.  I'll see what an upcoming project (from scratch) done using OOD will become.

  • Renaming a project

    hi
I tried to rename my project, i did file | rename project, i
changed the project's properties, i changed the project name when
generating a layout, etc. and still it seems that i cannot modify
the name of the htm file generated... i don't know where i can
access the name of the generated htm file so that i can rename it.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks a lot
    Alex

OK so the folder defined there is what you want and the help
    is getting generated there.
    - If you are saying that the filename there differs to what
gets generated, then I cannot see how that can happen as that is
    where the name comes from.
    - If you are saying the filename in the wizard is not what
you want, then simply change it.
Bear in mind this will affect the calls to the help made by
your developers so do liaise with them if you change it.

  • Rename a Project - easy-peasy!

Sometimes, you start a project and then for some reason or other, you want to rename it. In my case, I wanted the projects to appear in order and I realised I hadn't started off with the right name.
FCP X doesn't seem to have the facility to rename a project, but I suspected that projects get their names from the folders they're housed in, so I shut down the application and (using Finder) went into the Movies folder:
Movies > Final Cut Pro Projects
From there, I simply renamed the project folder.
When I launched FCP X, the project was there with it's new name and it played perfectly.

Such as copying a folder in the Final Cut Projects folder to duplicate a project then simply changing the folder's name to the new project name.  I wonder if the project file inside the project folder would respect that?  I bet it would.  Then you could edit that project in FCP X having used the previous one as a template for starting out.  Now, don't get me wrong ... I think this would be a recipe for disaster for people to start doing this.  But, it might be handy to know at times
Yep - that works too. It was the first thing I tried early this morning - and it worked perfectly.
I created a new project folder, then duplicated the project file and moved it into the new folder - no other files or folders involved. Then FCP X created all the thumbs and render files and folders when I started it up.
Wouldn't like to try it with FCP X running - knowing what a fickle creature it is at the best of times.

  • Rename EJB project(Enterprice Project) - Urgent

    Hi all,
I have an EJB based project (example: abc.ear, abc-admin.war, abc.war). Now, I am gonna create another project using the same EJB module. But the already existing EJB module should be renamed (example: xyz.ear, xyz-admin.war, xyz.war).
I am using NetBeans 6.1. Is there a way that I can rename the whole EJB module with NetBeans 6.1. While doing refactoring in NetBeans It renamed only the project name. I need to rename all the project names and references.
Its an urgent project. Hope to have a good reply from you.
    Thanks in advance

Is it so much work to create new projects and simply copy the source files over to them?

  • Renaming Robohelp Projects

Recently we changed file name conventions, and I need to
rename a few of the projects. I am having difficulties when
recompiling my projects, and the old names keep popping up. Also
    all my External Topics dissappeared
We use RoboHelp for Word version 6. My Primary Layout is
    Winhelp 2000.
    Could anyone help?

Are you renaming all the relevant files. Check that you have
renamed the .cnt, .doc, .hh, .hpj, .hpr, .rbh and .rft files. There
are also a number of other files that can be deleted as they are
recreated. Finally the .hpj, .hpr and .cnt files need amending
using Notepad to update any references they have for the old
project name. The RH help has a good topic listing the steps you
need to follow. Just use an index keyword of "renaming".

  • Final Cut Express keeps wanting to rename my project

I've been working on a video in Final Cut Express 3.5.1 for weeks. Now I keep getting a message on the screen that says "Final Cut Express cannot autosave your project unless you save it first. Would you like to save it now?"
If I hit the yes button, it brings up a save box that says "Untitled" and wants me to give the project a new name and a place to save it. How can I make the autosave feature recognize that this is already a named project, and it can be autosaved without renaming it?
    Tom

Did a bit of research here. In Tom Wolsky's tutorial book on Final Cut Express 2, on p. 125, his solution to avoiding losing your Favorites bin is to just drag it from the Effects panel into the Browser. He says that this copy in the Browser will remain with the project even if the prefs get trashed.
He also agrees that a Favorites project should be created in which you keep a bin containing all your favorite effects and filters, sometimes in stacks in separate folders.
Then when you want to use these effects elsewhere, you can just drag them from your Favorites project into any other project.
He says you should also burn a backup of this Favorites project to a CD occasionally to ensure you never lose it.

  • Rename team project

How do I rename a team project? The name of the project has to be renamed and I would like to do this with the least amount of pain as possible.

You cannot rename a team project nor a project collection.
The reason for this is that there are so many dependencies on the name of the team project, that it is very hard and error-prone to rename a team project. When there is only one entry somewhere that is not renamed correctly, you will not be able to use your
    team project anymore.
However, the renaming is something that is a often requested feature. When there are enough votes on a topic like
https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/554539/cant-rename-a-team-project-in-tfs-2010 it will end up in TFS vNext
