Multiscreen HTML5 TOC Jumps back to top

Hi all,
Using Multiscreen HTML5 (RH 11.0.0.179) if you click on a table of contents entry towards the bottom of the list, the ToC jumps back to the top of the ToC, so you have to scroll back down to see the selected topic and other topics around it.
We've modified the skin so the ToC pane is a fixed height and has a vertical scroll bar.
Is there any way to make the ToC stay down the bottom where the selected topic is similar to the Webhelp ToC? Or make make the selected topic display at the top of the ToC pane?
Thanks,
Amber

Not really. The problem is that the whole page reloads when you're using Multiscreen HTML5. And the TOC doesn't really allow you to jump to a location half way when the page loads.
This issue is fixed in Responsive HTML (RH11.0.3+). So if you can switch to Responsive, your problem would be fixed.

  • Help with actionscript to make page jump back to top

    Ok so I wanted the page to jump back to the top when the
    buttons are pressed. I found some help in an old thread. It worked
    great but for the first button only that i put the script on. All
    the others don't work at all. Even if its the same button just on a
    different frame. Not sure what i am doing wrong at all. I really
    don't know anything about actionscript so if anyone can please help
    me. Below is the script that i added to the tree buttons and the
    script i added to the html code.
    thanks- joe
    Button1:
    on (release) {
    nextFrame();
    import flash.external.*;
    flash.external.ExternalInterface.call('pageTop');
    Button2:
    on (release) {
    gotoAndStop(1);
    import flash.external.*;
    flash.external.ExternalInterface.call('pageTop');
    Button 3:
    on (release) {
    prevFrame();
    import flash.external.*;
    flash.external.ExternalInterface.call('pageTop');
    At the top of my html:
    <head>
    <script http-equiv="Content-Script-Type"
    content="text/javascript">
    function pageTop() {
    window.scrollTo(0,0);
    </script>

    you don't need all the import statements but the problems are
    likely caused by your buttons failure to exist when the timeline
    goes to the frame indicated in the line above the externalinterface
    call().

  • Page down/scroll in iTunes store jumps back to top of page

    I can't scroll/page down in the iTunes store without it jumping back to the top of the page after about 1 second. Tried using keyboard arrows/page down, mouse click/drage scroll bar, mouse scroll button. Just downloaded the latest update but didn't fix problem. Any ideas?

    I also have had the same problem for months now. The updates do not fix the problem. Is there anyone out there with an answer?
    Sometimes out of the blue I will click somewhere on the itunes store screen and it will stop doing it but, I can't repeat it the next time I open Itunes. It always just wants to stay scrolled all the way to the top on every itunes store page.

  • Opening any link causes location in current page to jump back to top of page.

    I have FF set to open all new windows in a new tab which was the default setting. Whenever I open a link, the new link will open in another tab, but on my current page/tab I will be transported back to the top of my current page/tab. You can imagine how annoying this is especially on long pages. Does anyone have a solution for this? One thing I have tried is highlighting some text near the link I am about to open and sometimes this will prevent the page from moving back to the top when I open the link, but not always. Thanks for looking, (FF 3.6.18 on linux)
    -This occurs whether I have FF set to switch immediately to new tab, OR not.

    Thank you Cor-el! That did the trick, but I'm not sure why.
    Just FYI I restarted in safemode, and chose to continue without selecting any of the options just as you said. I tried clicking on links further down in the page, and the page DIDN'T jump back to the top! I checked to make sure the default theme was selected which it already was.
    When I restarted Firefox in normal mode, it continued to do the right thing and did not jump to the top for each link open. I have no idea why your solution worked, maybe it reset something? anyways, thank you again, wonderful help!

  • Screen jumps back to top of the report when a tab is clicked

    Hello everyone.
    I have a report that displays quite a lot of information and has a lot of tabs.
    Now on my work monitor everything fits on the screen fine so there's no problem.
    When someone with laptop (smaller screen) uses the report they have to scroll down to view everything which is fine. The problem is when they scroll down and click on a tab, the screen shoots back up to the very top of the report and the user has to scroll back down again.
    Hopefully I explained that well enough.
    Is there anything I can do to get the screen to not move when they select a tab?
    Thanks for any help on this.
    Kieran

    One last bump!
    Thought it was possibly a problem with the curser focus always being at the top of the screen, but changing that didn't seem to do anything.
    Anyone got any ideas at all?

  • Anyway to stop Music list from jumping back to top?

    Is there a way to tell iTunes not to reset to the top of my main music page when I click on a playlist and return to the main music library? It is quite annoying to click on a playlist and then go back to the music library and have the selection be at the top of the Artists rather than back to what is Now Playing in the main music library.

    Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. I'm trying to figure out some pattern so I can be factual when I talk to Apple about this.
    What is always wrong, is that the Column Browser always resets when you leave and return.

  • Every time I open a new safari page and scroll down it jumps back to the top of the page. mac book pro, newest version of OSX. Thanks all!

    every time I open a new safari page and scroll down it jumps back to the top of the page. Happens super inconsistently and not on every web page. Tried all the dum dum moves like restarting computer and changing scroll direction in track pad. Anyone else have a similar issue? mac book pro, newest version of OSX. Thanks all!

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • TOC, Search, Index does not work after hosting published files in Multiscreen HTML5

    I have generated and published the files for multiscreen html5. The default screen layout is Desktop_layout. When I access index.htm directly from the published location, every function and all details work beautifully. However, once I host the published files in IIS, and type the URL in Google Chrome, the screen layout is all messed up. TOC, Index, Glossary and the Search function does not work. Please help/suggest/guide.

    Could this be related to IIS? I host it locally on IIS (8.0 on Windows 8.1 Pro) and on Apache without any problems. But IIS can give trouble if the folder security options are not set correctly, so please make sure the IIS User has full read rights on all directories and files.
    Kind regards,
    Willam

  • TS3274 This week the keypad "jumped" to the top of the screean't see what I'm typing! How do I get it back down to where it used to be?

    This week the keypad "jumped" to the top of the screen so that I often can't see what I'm typing! Not sure why it happened and want to know how to get the keypad back down to where it used to be! Can anyone help?
    Cheers
    Freddy

    If the keyboard is split and covering your text, Pull the two ends of the keyboard together - into the middle of the screen. You can also tap and hold down on the little keyboard icon in the lower right corner of the keyboard and select - Dock and Merge.
    If the keyboard is up on the middle of the screen, but not split, and you want to move it back to the bottom - tap and hold down on the little keyboard and icon and select - Dock
    You can turn the split keyboard off in Settings>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard>Off.

  • Curser always jumping back to the top of page

    My curser is always jumping back to the top of the page.  I will be half way down the page and it just jumps right back to the top.  Is this a setting I can change?

    The other problem occasionally seen is a swollen battery.
    This can push up against the bottom of the trackpad and make it wonky, but usually the result is RANDOM movements.

  • I cannot click on 'reply' on a website where you can post comments. I try to reply to someone elses post, it jumps back to the top of the site!

    I have 'Yahoo' as my home page, and from there I see articles which I usually like to respond to and make comments. That I can do quite easily, but if I try to post a reply to someone else's comment, the page jumps back to the top and the 'reply' option does not open for me to post my comment. This does not happen all the time, but it is happening quite often now. I have RESET my Firefox browser thinking that was the problem, but it still persists.
    Thank you for your help.

    The first thing you can try is to clear the cache and cookies.
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
    Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.

  • Multiscreen HTML5: iPhone Output Not Built Correctly (Missing HTML Files)

    I need expert help to resolve this issue. Hopefully, this issue will sound familiar to someone, and they can provide some guidance.
    Since I started using RH10 a few months ago, I have delved into the details of Multiscreen HTML5 only as much as was needed to get the work done. I have an issue that has me flustered.
    By default, I am building my help project for all platforms (iPad, iPhone, Desktop, etc.), with iPad selected as the Default. The iPad & Desktop help both work fine, no issues.
    However, when I open the index.htm file in the iPhone folder, it opens the table_of_contents.html screen, which contains nothing but a search field. Additionally, many of the html files (that are in the iPad folder) are not being built for the iPhone folder (missing). When I look at the other folders (kindle_fire, or android_galaxy_tab for example) the files are all there and they work fine.
    When I compare the HTML for the Table_of_Contents.htm files for ipad and iphone, they are identical except the default file for iPhone is home.htm instead of table-of-contents.htm. But when I change the HTML to make them identical, I still have the same problem. When I open, it jumps to the searchresults.htm screen instead of displaying the Contents.
    When I wipe out the iPhone folder and rebuild it, the results are the same.
    So, somewhere, somehow, I have evidently unknowingly either selected or deselected something that caused the missing sections to be excluded (or not be built).
    I appreciate any help resolving this issue.
    Thank you,
    JimC

    Yes. Each device can have different content. It could be that some topics have tags and that layout has an expression that is excluding them.

  • After Update Bizarre jump back to Finder Behavior

    I have always dutifully used Software Update to stay on top of things.
    In some cases it has revealed problems. What a surprise.
    The most recent update to 10.4.5, or the latest Security update has introduced an annoying behavior that doesnt make much sense and I wonder if anybody else has encountered it.
    If I have multiple windows open (Safari, Mail, iPhoto...) after less than 30 secs. the user interface always jumps back to the Finder, no matter what I am doing. As I type this if I hesitate for more than a few seconds the keyboard wont respond because I am in the Finder again...GRRRR...irritating behavior. You then have to click on the window (Safari whatever it was you were doing) to then continue scrolling, typing whatever.
    Anybody else? No its not Screen saver activating its like 15-30 sec delay and Bam back to the Finder.
    I have reported this to AppleCare (mine just expired) and the case number is 60078651...the squeaky wheel gets greased if you experience the same issue use this case number to complain en masse.

    Hi, f/64.
    1. Well, you can delete the Finder preferences (see also my "Finder Issues? How to delete its preferences" FAQ) as macjack suggests, but I don't think that's the issue.
    2. It sounds like some application or background process is actually switching the focus to Finder. Since this seems to have arisen after recent updates, this makes me suspect a Startup or Login Item that has been rendered incompatible by the update. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
    3. A good way to avoid such problems with updates is to follow the advice in my "Installing Software Updates" FAQ.
    4. You've not provided any information concerning your Mac itself: model, RAM, if you are using a third-party keyboard or mouse (brands of each), etc. so more details about your system would be helpful.
    5. A couple of "off the wall" ideas:
    • An errant folder action script. If you've not enabled any of these, don't worry about that.
    • Some people have experimented with installing FrontRow on Macs which did not come equipped with such via a variety of hacks posted on the Internet. This has caused some problems, including the loss of all menu extras, the icons on the right side of the menu bar, and repeated crashes of SystemUIServer, which controls menu extras.
    6. After the problem occurs, you may want to check Console for clues.
    Good luck!

  • My iphoto keeps jumping back to last import

    My iphoto keeps jumping back to last import, I am using photo's in a event and if I click on anything on my desk top it flips out fo the event I am in and jumps back to last import please help

    Close iPhoto and open the iPhoto Library package as shown in this screenshot:
    Look inside the Auto Import folder and move whatever you find to the Desktop.  Do not many any other changes.
    Launch iPhoto and it should not jump back to the last import smart album.  If there are any image files that you moved to the Desktop that you want and are not in the library then reimport them.
