Report: Fetching data more time

HI,
My report is facing the performance issue. Actually for a PO I am getting the BELNR from the EKBE. for all the BELNR in EKBE where BWTYP = 'Q'. I need to get the Invoice No. This I am fetching from BKPF based on AWKEY as input. When I saw in debug mode I found that fetching data from BKPF is taking much more time. Here to get the data from BKPF I am giving only input AWKEY (EKBE-BELNR + GJAHR). I am able to find the correct keys to get the invoice details. Is there any other table which maintain Invoice document No. and invoice posting data. or can i tune my report. Please help.

Hi,
use AWTYP = 'RMRP' where clause to get the accounting document number for the corresponding invoice..
There is an index on the field AWTYP, AWKEY, AWSYS..
This should make the SQL run faster.
SELECT bukrs belnr gjahr INTO TABLE T_BKPF
         FROM bkpf
         INTO lwa_bkpf
         WHERE awtyp = 'RMRP'
         AND   awkey = lv_awkey.

Multiple select queries used in Excel BI report ,fetching data from Sharepoint DB(SP2010_Prod_ProjectServer) causing blockage on DB ,when more than one workbook(same copy of Excel BI Report) refreshed using Refresh All option.

I am using mutiple select queries to fetch data from Project Server 2010 DB(its sharepoint DB) and these queries fetch data in Excel BI report by establishing connection with DB using instance name and all. I have enhance all these select queries and data
is being fetched in secs. but when more than one copy of same Excel BI report is refreshed using 'Refresh All' option, then these select queries cause blockage on DB.
Please let me know mitigation for this blockage issue.
Should I use begin transaction and commit transaction statements/ shared lock statements.

Reporting on date and time

Hi,
I want create a keyfigure which will show latest date and time from below. The data in DSO is like..
Field A     Field B      Field C Field D(KF)            Field E(KF)
1000        J0001          2        11.08.2009      11:00:00
1000        J0001          3        11.08.2009      12:25:00
In the report i should show the latest date and time stamp.
What would be best way to show only the latest date and time. Field c is dynamic. It will vary as 4,5,6,7....
Any help greatly apprecites.

Thanks for reply. Yes it worked for date. But the time i was not able to make it work.
For example
Field A Field B Field C Field D(KF) Field E(KF)
1000 J0001 2 11.08.2009 11:00:00
1000 J0001 3 11.08.2009 12:25:00
1000 J0001 4 12.08.2009 10:00:00
In this case i was only able to get latesttime as 12:25:00. Basically i want to report on what ever Field highest value corresponding date and time.
What i did is created condition for the date kf with operator top n and variable of replacement path of attribute value and characteristic key for field c. It worked for date.
Similarly i created condition for the time kf with operator top n and variable of replacement path of attribute value and characteristic key for field c. it reportted 12:25:00.
Is there any chance we can check date reported and then pick the corresponding time in another column.

Query accessing SSAS cube is taking more time in power view report

Hi,
My SSAS server is having 16 Core's . I have created a power view in sharepoint site, which is accessing ssas cube.
The report is taking more time to show the result. I traced the DAX query using SQL Server profiler. When I ran this DAX query in SSAS server directly, then its taking less time but when the same query running from sharepoint server (power view) , it
is taking more time. Number of records in the fact table is 300M .
Also i tracked the %process time in performance monitor, mostly the line is below 20%. I think the CPU is not fully utilized..
Could you please help me to improve the performance of my report.

According to your description, you create a PowerView report in SharePoint site connect to SSAS cube, the problem is that it take long time to show the result in the report, now you want to improve report performance, right?
In your scenario, you said that it takes more time to return the result in PowerView report than run the query directly in SSMS. For a report, its run time contain retrieval data time and render report time. So it takes more time to return the result in
PowerView report than run the query directly in SSMS. And there are 300M records in the fact table, the performance can be caused by large data. Here is a blog which describes tracks down Power View performance problems.

RDF report taking more time to complete

Hi All,
Our custom RDF report is taking more time to complete.
Acutally on early hours of the login day, when i submit that request it completes in 5-6 min, but when i resubmit that request that is going on running.
Please do help in this.

Do you have the statistics collected up to date?

Currency translation taking more time at first time in the report

Hi All,
Here is an issue regarding the currency translation in the report. when we click on the currency translation from the contaxt menu on the report, its taking more time for the first time to get the selection options. But it is fast from the second time onwards. It will be not user friendly if its takes more time for the first time. Is there any way to fast up the processing time for the first time when i go for the "currency translation" option at report level for the first time.
let me know why it takes more time for the first time when we go for this option at report level.

This is undoubtedly not a database issue.
I doubt you can fix it in the database.
You can, however, spend a lot of hours asking questions and poking around if you are a consultant paid by the hour.
But as long as you are looking for something to do here are some that won't fix the problem but may be worth a few minutes of your time.

I want to report the date and time of the last upload in a report. How can I do this?
I mean if I load the data today 5th April 2006 at 8.30 pm, then would i be able to show that on my report at the top of it(along with filer objects may be)?

The other idea is not to commit each call, but executing commit of packages e.g. after 1000 BAPI calls.
But otherwise, I am afraid you can not do a lot about performance of standard BAPI. Maybe there is some customer enhancement which is taking too long inside the BAPI, but this has to be analysed by you. To analyse performance, just execute your program via tr. SE30.

I agree with Thomas on this. That would be the simplest & fool-proof solutn. Alternatively, you can try to use the stmts: EXPORT/IMPORT TO DATABASE.

SSRS report is consuming much more time to fetch data from DB even direct run SP takes less than a second

we are using SQL SERVER 2008R2 X64 RTM version.
One of the SSRS report designed by developer is consuming much more time( 5 to 6 minutes ) to fetch data from DB. Even direct run of Stored Procedure (Called in report )takes less than a second to display the result set.

Based on my understanding, you spend a little time retrieving data with a stored procedure from database in dataset designer. However, it takes long time to run the report to display the data, right?
In Reporting Services, the total time to generate a report include TimeDataRetreval, TimeProcessing and TimeRendering. In your scenario, since you mentioned retrieving data costs a little time, you should check the table
Executionlog3 in the ReportServer database to find which section costs most of time, TimeProcessing or TimeRendering. Then you can refer to this article to optimize your report:
Troubleshooting Reports: Report Performance.
Besides, if parameters exist in the report, you should declare variables inside of the stored procedure and assign the incoming parameters to the variables. For more information, please refer to the similar thread:

BAM reports taking more time while fetching data from EDS

I have created an external Data Source(EDS) in the BAM, and when i create an object with that EDS, it is taking very long to fetch data from the EDS( more than 20 mins.), but as the Database is installed on my local system, when i fire a query there, it don't take much time. Please help me in this, what could be the possible reason?

Report Developed in Webi Rich Client Consuming more time in Data Retrieval

Dear All,
I am a BO Consultant, recently in my project I have developed one report in Webi Rich Client., at the time of development and subsequent days the report was working fine (taking Data Retrieval time less than 1 minute), but after some days its taking much time (increasing day by day and now its taking more than 11 minutes).
Can anybody point out what could be the reason?????
We are using,
1. SAP BI 7.0
2. SAP BO XI 3.1 Edge
3. Webi Rich Client Version :12.3.0 and Build 601
This report is made on a Multiprovider (Sales).
What are the important points that should be considered so that we can improve the performance of Webi Reports????

Please come back here with a copy/paste of the 2 MDX statements from the MDA.log to compare the good/bad runtimes.
& the 2 equivalent DPCOMMANDS clauses (good and bad) from the WebI trace logs.
Can u explain what u really mean in the bold text above..................Actually I didn't get you..........

ORA-01422- exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows in D2K Report

Greetings.
I am using a report which is being called from the from in one of my application. The report is working fine from quiet a long time. I have an error with a particular record alone and it is working fine for all other records.
When I try to run the report, I am getting the error as Rep-1401- 'cf_vatformula' : Fatal pl/sql error occured.
ORA-01422- Exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows.
I opened the formula column and run the sql codes that are used in the formula column cf_vat and all of them are working fine. None of them are fetching more a single row. But, when I run the report, I am getting the same error as mentioned above.
Please help me resolve the issue ASAP. Thanks in Advance.

Thanks for your time.
I am sure that there is no other procedure used in cf_vatformula. It has select queries in and all of them are fetching the data not more than a single row.
I have tested each and every select query with every possible output.
