Response to Daniel_k post

?I am only creating this new thread from the original post on page 73 to hopefully cut to the chase and get a point across that Creative will hopefully consider.
PLEASE, if you respond to this thread, its needs to be very important. If you add pages and pages of postings it will be just like the original and most likely get deleted or takes days to review.
"I have been an avid user of Creative for several years myself. I know that there has to be a lot of red tape bound up in the EULA that "protects"?Creatives products and their licensing with other companies and this is understandable. For me, I wasnt aware of the problems Vista posed with drivers. I have always had creatives cards installed on XP and I am currently using the onboard sound on my gaming rig.
But, I am using a Xi-Fi card on my media center system on my TV powering my Z-5300 Creative speakers and also a creative card in my girlfriends system with a creative speaker system as well.
I understand Creatives position in this matter too, BUT the big picture is how this will effect your customer base and if your business decisions are going to inconvenience your current, long term customers and even new customers they can and will go else where to get thier sound products. If you are going to take measures to protect your products licensing and drivers it is strongly suggested you have a line of products to refer disatisfied customers to that will give them the quality and performance they pay for. Having a line of products to fall back on is frowned upon by customers due to the fact it means they have to discard a perfectly good card and buy a new one.
You expect this from any products you pay good, hard earned money for and your products are no exception.
This will impact your business very hard. I would be willing to bank on the fact you will see this in your next few quarterly statements. Little customers like us do add up to the masses and when they are disatisfied you have to find some way to make things right to give them satisfaction.
My best suggestion would be to post to Daniel_K and publicly release him from liabilities so you dont further upset any of your customer base any further than already done.
Secondly, either allow for your current customers that are still buying your products off of retail shelves to get links to a working driver either provided by Creative, or Daniel_K, or at least post a very reasonable time frame that one will be released that will actually work.
Those two things are the only thing you can do to rectify these very upset and growing disatisfied Creative customers. A public posting in your forums stating and addressing this issue for everyone to see will be the only thing you can do to salvage your customers that have made you what you are today.
I dont know Daniel_k, and I have no interest in this issue other than being a satisfied/future customer. Your next move in this issue will be a deciding factor and to be honest this will need to be addressed immediately. These 700+ postings will verbally be spread as well equalling 000's of customers buying competitors products.
I dont personally want to see this happen but it will if you dont rectify this issue and soon.
We all will be watching and anticipating your next move.
FYI, I found this posting in a large computer community forum and these current postings are a drop in the bucket as to what is to come if this issue isnt addressed and corrected soon."
Best Regards,
long time customer
Rodney

  • Response options for POST method in Restufl services?

I am using the Restful services for the Oracle Cloud Database and I am trying to see what my options are for returning responses from my POST calls but haven't had any luck. It doesnt seem that using dbms_output.put_line() is respected for returning information in the body of the response and I havent had any luck with OUT parameters. Obviously GETs work fine returning the selected dataset, but I can't figure out what to do for POSTs. Can someone give me a quick simple, PL/SQL hello world example of returning data (body or header, either is fine) for the REST APIs?

    Thank you for your response,
I constructed HTML data in different ways, but in all cases I am getting 200(OK) response. But nothing is happening As I mentioned, you must not construct HTML for a POST.
A POST consists of two basic parts. A header part. A data part.
The POST that you need to create, should look something as follows:
    POST /servlet/servlet.WebToLead HTTP/1.1
    Host: www.salesforce.com
    User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0
    Content-Length: <number>
    Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
oid=00D400000008XSQ&first_name=Scott&last_name=Tiger&email=[email protected] header part contains the standard HTTP header information - such as the size, content type and so on.
The data part contains what a query string for a GET command typically would contain. Name-value pairs, separated by the ampersand character, and control characters encoded where needed.
I suggest that you use your favourite search engine and research the topic of what the content and structure is for a http POST - and once you understand that, put some PL/SQL code together to create such a structure. And make that simplistic first so it is easy to debug and test - before tackling a more complex POST using https in addition too.

  • How to get responses to topics posted on forum

I have submitted multiple requests to the forum in the past, on multiple topics, and received sporadic responses. My most recent request was originally posted on Dec 18. I have yet to receive a response from anyone. I have reposted to the same topic, in an attempt to keep it near the front of the list (most recently on Dec 26th).
What is the correct approach to receive a response? I have paid for JDeveloper, and would like some kind of reliable resource for help with questions and issues. I know I can submit TARS, but I don't feel it's appropriate to do this unless I truly feel there is a 'bug'.
In reviewing my old questions which were not responded to, I've noticed there are many other questions which never receive a response, either.
Even if a response is entered by someone indicating we should take the time to read a help topic to answer our own question, that is much preferred to not hearing anything.
Surely other users of the JDeveloper forum share my concerns?
Given that I have paid for the software, and for annual maintenance, is there a more appropriate resource to work with?

    Hi Randy,
The JDeveloper discussion forum is free to everyone. The Oracle people who respond on this forum tend to be developers and product managers. We try to monitor the forum and help out as much as we can, but we don't commit to answering every question; if we did that there wouldn't be much time left to actually develop the product, which is the main job of this group.
If you want a guaranteed response to a question you should contact technical support. They're a paid service that guarantee a response within a certain period of time - and they're not just for reporting bugs. Your support contract also gives you access to metalink, where you can download product patches.
    Thanks
    Blaise

  • How to get responses to my post

Hi there. I posted in "sql and pl/sql" forum yesterday under my name (Al Kosteniuk) and got not responses. Was there some sort of protocol that I missed, or the question wasn't interesting enough?

First off, please be aware that 99% of the folks that answer questions on OTN are volunteers with real jobs outside of OTN, so not all questions will be answered. If you need Oracle representatives to answer your question, you are probably better off posting in the Metalink forums.
Second, you may be better off posting Forms questions in the Forms forum
    Forms
rather than in the SQL and PL/SQL forum. No guarantees of course, but the folks over there are probably a lot more familiar with DDE.

  • I am not able to Post a Response or new Post on the AOL Boards using Firefox 4, so I use Firefox 3.6.17 (???)

When I have updated to Firefox 4 using Windows XP (SP3), Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit or using Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) and I go to the [http://tinyurl.com/2gy8z46 AOL Message Boards] (AOL Browser, AOL & Your Mac for instance) I am not able to get my Reply Post to be entered. (or a NEW Post either)
I '''am''' able to enter a Reply AND have it Posted using Firefox 3.6.17 and so that is the version I use and have to stay with unless there is a 'fix' for the lack of ability to Post on the AOL Message Boards using Firefox 4.

As posted above, Firefox versions 4 and later require a Mac with an Intel processor and no longer run on a Mac with a PowerPC processor.<br />
It says recommended, but it is now a requirement to have an Intel processor.

    Hello,
In order to be compliant to security requirements, we need get another response code from our Portal when entering incorrect credentials.
When everything is OK, I understand HTTP response code is 200.
But when I enter incorrect credentialss, it shouldn´t be that way.
Is there a way to change this ? For example, that the system send a code 302 back?
Thanks in advance for your help and advices

    Hello,
If it can help someone else, I put SAP answer here. To be short, it´s not possible to make that change because the page is loaded correctly.
"Unfortunately there is no way to change the html code from 200 to 401
for example. When authentication fails the error is handled and
"Authentication failed" message is sent, so even if the authentication
does not work the server displays one page that is was possible to
process in the server that's why showing 200. As so for I know only
the authentication error message can be changed, please have a look in

  • HttpsURLConnection posts OK but empty response (not in browser though)

    Hi All,
A very odd problem is happening with our system. We use a HttpsURLConnection to connect SSL to a https://www.securehost.com URL.
Calling this URL in a web browser or posting a form to it returns some text e.g "The Response".
We post to this URL over the HttpsURLConnection and get a response 200 back. We can also verify that the remote host received our post by contacting them.
The issue is that unlike in a browser, we get an empty response....here is some logging...
cipher suite in use on this connection : SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5
    [2003-02-26 09:26:45,538] DEBUG BookingClient root - doPost: connection.getInputStream()
[2003-02-26 09:26:45,538] DEBUG BookingClient root - doPost: InputStream has 0 bytes available
    [2003-02-26 09:26:45,542] DEBUG BookingClient root - doPost: response= length=0
    Many thanks

[2003-02-26 09:26:45,538] DEBUG BookingClient root - doPost: InputStream has 0 bytes available"available"? If you're trying to use InputStream.available(), you're done.
First, available() always returns 0 for SSL connections. If you're relying in it to tell you how much you need to read to get the complete server response, your app is broken.
Second, available() is not a reliable way to decide how much data the server is sending. All available() tells you is how much data is currently in the network buffer - it may or may not be all (or any) of the data on its way from the server.
If you're not relying on available(), of course, then there's some other problem. Can you post the code that's reading the stream for us?

  • Generic service() for request, specify POST for response?

I'm designing a servlet that can communicate with Macromedia's FLASH. This program does things a little strangely. It has a myXML.sendAndLoad() method which sends an xml object to a server, and expects one back (the objects are serialised as a single unwrapped text line). It claims to send using POST, but actually, when you look at the headers, is sends using GET, and then appends the data in a seperate transmission (in the body of the request) as POST would.
to get around this annoyence, I'm reading in the data like this
public void service(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp)
         throws ServletException, IOException
//Read the xml from the HTTP request into a String
              BufferedReader reader = req.getReader();
String xmlString = reader.readLine();this works fine.
Just one thing - FLASH will expect the response to be POST. At the moment FLASH receives a response, but can't decipher it as (I assume) the service() method sends a response back in the same format that it received the request.
Q - how do I keep the service() bit for receiving th request, but specify a doPost() for the response?
    thanks for any help
    RT

That's what I'm doing. However, I should think (though I'm not sure) that when the service method is called, it fires a doGet (as the req Header is GET). Therefore (?) the response would also be a GET . OK, the output will be written to the body with this method, but I think FLASH needs a POST. Am not sure on the last one - but no one else seems to be either!

  • Forum Posting Responses

Occasionally, I will get no response to a posting on the
forum. Most recently I made a posting regarding an error message we
are receiving, and there was no response, from another member or
from an Adobe expert. Does no response simply imply that no one has
knowledge of the subject, thus no response? Or that the Adobe
Expert on the subject matter is on vacation, or that I posted to
    the wrong forum? OR?
I think I posted to the correct forum. I can imagine
situations where no one could have a clue, but in the case of an
error message, I would expect that Adobe has a list of them, and
what might cause them. I searched the knowledge base and found no
related entries. What else can I do to find an answer?

    Hi there tojo45
Almost everyone here is a volunteer and simply sharing
knowledge and workarounds. I suppose actual Adobe RoboHelp team
members might visit occasionally and I would love it if they did on
a regular basis, as it's my belief that it would provide valuable
    insights and information for them.
The bottom line here is that there are no dedicated
individuals that sit on the forums and their sole purpose in life
is to ensure all forum posts receive an answer. Though some might
disagree with my view on that, as some or many of us are posting
    all the time.
Just as you have a job to do in addition to visiting the
forums, all the rest of us do as well! We do try and make an effort
to reply to as many posts as we can, but sometimes that simply
isn't possible. This could be a result of a simple time issue and
the other reasons you cited. In addition to those, keep in mind
that the RoboHelp forums may be but a slice of the lists and forums
we monitor. I think at last count I was participating in all the
RoboHelp forums, all the Captivate forums, the Visual Communicator
forums, the SnagIt forums as well as watching a typical load of
300-500 email messages that stream in each day. Now part of those
email messages are forum traffic, as that is my preferred way of
    watching the Adobe forums.
Just a bit about thinking you posted to the correct forum.
Although I'm certainly not speaking for everyone here, I can attest
that I watch activity in ALL forum categories. I suspect others do
too. And it's rather comical to see someone post a message perhaps
in the HTMLHelp forum and see that there are few posts in there.
Then decide to post the same question in the General category
"because it seems to have more traffic". Rest assured that wherever
you posted, it was probably seen. If an answer is to be had, we
normally respond as quickly as we can.
Okay, off to check other posts now. Hopefully this provided
you some of the insights you were looking for.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Questions on Patch Deployment - From older post.

Almost a year ago I had a post with questions on the patch scan process.
    https://forums.novell.com/novell-pro...s-updates.html
I have been reviewing my patch process again due to Student laptop's getting re-imaged this summer. I am hoping I can get some additional information based off the replies from that post.
    1. It was stated that monthly patch bundles were created and deployed. I am unsure how that is best accomplished. If I create an all Microsoft (Windows 7 for example) Patch bundle for each month, yet the workstations it is deployed to may not require the patch, would this not cause the bundle to fail? If it just fails on that section will the remaining patch's continue to deploy?
What is the best way to deploy a monthly patch bundle? In the past I would create a patch bundle through the Patch Management area for Windows 7 but assign to only a single workstation and then go back and assign to the Windows 7 group as a "run on ref" option. Is it better to assign the patch bundle to all nonpatched devices? If this is done will a system that is reimaged and no longer has the patch or a new system created after the bundle create be automatically assigned said bundle?
Any other good strategies for patching systems? I create custom bundles for Adobe, Java, and Quicktime to ensure I control how they are deployed. Java seems to be one that works better when older versions are not installed. This method seems to be working well for those products. It is my MS Windows updates that are way off the mark. I have most of my systems with 60 to 80 patches reported ready. No matter how many times I deploy the patches they never seem to report as patched on the devices (Even tho the bundle reports back as successful). I am getting ready to start an SR since I think this is an issue with the server since so many of my systems are doing this. Good deployment procedures would be nice since I really hate to mess with my Universal WIndows image since it is working so well. Recreating it just to patch it with the latest Windows Updates would be pain.
    Thanks
    Richard
