#service fwocfs start bad interpreter error

I am trying to autoscan of firewire storage device in RAC configuration but i am getting this error;
#service fwocfs start
/sbin/service:/etc/init.d/fwocfs: bad interpreter: No such file or directory.

My first guess would be that you downloaded it on Windows and you converted it to a DOS file format by mistake.
To verify, execute the following command:
od -c /etc/init.d/fwocfs | head -1
If it shows character like '\r \n', then it's in DOS format.
To convert it back to a UNIX text file format, run:
dos2unix /etc/init.d/fwocfs

XP Services dont start up; get Error 1068 when try to manually start them.

Hello, I'm running Win XP Pro SP3 on a Lenovo T42, which was running fine. When I boot now, only 25 services start up, and I cant get to Internet or run some key apps. When I use Services.MSC to show the services, many Automatic services are not running.
When I try to start Network Connections, for example, I get Error 1068, 'The dependency service or group failed to start.'
When I try to run System Restore from MSConfig, I get 'System Restore is Not Able to Protect Your Computer'.
I've tried various configurations under MSConfig?General and the results are the same.
Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks....BT

[SOLVED]Pacstrap causing error "bad interpreter"

Hi,
I am not "extremely" new to Arch as I've installed Arch on a machine(not mine) a couple of years back. But I don't exactly remember the steps. I used Lubuntu in my machine(HP dm1z) for a long time and I can be considered as a newbie here. So I went through the Installation Guide and started installing. Intro over.
So the problem is when I try to install the base system using pacstrap:
pacstrap /mnt base
it gives me the error
zsh: /usr/bin/pacstrap: bad interpreter: /bin/bash: no such file or directory
The installation media I use is a USB stick and I used Win32DiskImager to burn the image on to it. I tried the iso on vmplayer in my windows machine and was able to install it successfully.
What could be the issue?

I failed to mention it but I was checking the beginner's guide also. There seems to be not much help in the beginner's guide too, if the error I mentioned above occurs. I googled as vast as I can but failed to find a solution.

We have a client that has intermittent issues with RDS on a 2012 R2 server.
As an overview of the environment, the client has a single VMWare host support 2 x Windows 2012 R2 VMs one is the File/Print/Email server and the 2nd is the RDS server used to allow the client to run MYOB Enterprise. Both servers have the AD DS role and
DNS roles amongst others.
The 1st issue is that the RD Connection Broker shows the error: "The server pool does not match the RD Connection Brokers that are in it. and then "1. Cannot connect to any of the specified RD Connection Broker servers".
The above issue seems to be caused by the RDMS service not starting. When you attempt to start it, the service stops and the error in the title is logged in the "System" event log. Full transcript below:

I have been attempting to resolve these errors for some time, without success. I have read the many KBs and forum entries related to the above and applied a number of the suggested fixes, including the one which suggests to add the NT SERVICE\ALL SERVICES
to the "Logon as a Service" in the "User Rights Assignment" of the "Default Domain Policy" which is linked to the domain level, that both servers are objects of.
My question to the forum is, can anyone come up with a solution to resolve the above issues and all the RDMS service to start which will then hopefully resolve the broker error?

Hi David,
If virtual machines on the server are Windows Server 2012, then it is not supported to install Remote Desktop Connection Broker on a Domain Controller.

If the VMs are Windows Server 2012 R2, I suggest you install RDS on a separate machine to see if the issue persists.

"Windows could not start the offline files service on local computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified"

Using Windows 8.1 Pro on Toshiba Satellite i7 Laptop with 8Gb Ram
After upgrade from Windows 8 Pro to 8.1 Pro, the Offline Files/CSC service refuses to start and gives the error message:
"Windows could not start the offline files service on local computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified"
Before the upgrade, offline files worked fine... how do I re-enable offline files?

I had a similar issue - couldn't make any files available offline.
I found that the offline folder service would not start
This was because the CSC permission were totally screwed. I had to take ownership of each folder and file, one by one, then grant everyone full access.
then delete the full contents of the CSC folder
format the CSC database using the registry fix then reboot
in control panel, disable the offline files, reboot, then re-enable. and now its working :)
2hrs to resolve this, with grateful thanks to this thread and some others.

You're getting HTTP 410:

Looks like the URL in your proxy is not right.

I am trying to install omnetpp-4.2.2 on OS X Lion. When I try to configure I get the following error msg:

HTTP Server error - service cannot start

I have installed Oracle 9i on NT. After installation when tried to start the HTTP Server it gave an error cannot start. Any idea how to solve this error?

Bad image error when trying to start

This is a fresh install of windows 7 with all current updates.
Every other CC program has installed fine but acrobat will not start I get a "Font Capture:Acrobat.exe - Bad Image" error. I've also run the acrobat cleaner and reinstalled with no luck. Any ideas?

Really a question for the CC forum, but I think you have to activate at least one before you can install Acrobat. It has always come across as confusing to me, but it is something like that.

Could not start the Bonjour Service service on local computer. Error 6: The handle is invalid

I have been trying to load teh new Itunes 10.5 for the last week and have been unsuccessful. When the load get to the Bonjour service it fails and puts up a message.
I have Administrators rights on the machine. I have updated the OS to the latest patch level. I have turned off the Anti-virus and Firewall and still this service will not load. Is there any Ideas of what I can try?

I thank everyone that responded to this post, I learned a lot from each of them. After my first attemps with Sean and Shanky I put it asside for a bit and got back to it today.
I did what Lydia suggested and disabled the TCP/IP (the Named Pipes was already Disabled) and left only the Shared Memory Enabled and the SQL Server started with no errors. I launched the software that was requiring the SQL DB and everything is working
correctly, which I find odd because the software specifically says to check that TCP/IP is Enabled when there are issues with their instance of the SQL Server not starting.
Since the software I needed the SQL for runs properly I will assume this is fixed.

PS - Sean, just to verify I did check and there was no forced encryption and verified that I had set the ports to different values for each instance of SQL Server.

If a power cycle of the TC works then the issue is simply Lion.. and there is as yet no fix.. and may never be..
Apple do not seem to acknowledge the issue but plenty of people have it.. It doesn't happen with SL.. one very good reason to not bother with Lion.. Maybe ML will fix it.. without Apple having to ever admit an issue.
In the meantime, if possible downgrade TC to 7.5.2 .. it has less issues than 7.6 or later.
Reset the TC and change all names, TC and wireless names, to short, no spaces, no special characters.
If it is the main router, set the dhcp lease to a short time.. 10min I recommend.
The above will probably not fix the issue.. but it might go a bit longer before a reboot is needed.. going back to SL would fix it.
