[solved]amarok-2.5.0-2 doesn't work

i use Arch Linux x86_64 with the latest kernel from core, it's the 3.2.8, and KDE 4.8.0, Qt 4.8 with ffmpeg 20120127-3. My problem is when i try to run amarok it says "amarok: error while loading shared libraries: libavcodec.so.52: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" i made a symlink for libavcodec.so.53 but still doesn't work. I couldn't find anything in this topic. I try to compile the git version from AUR but it's the same.

What's the output of
LD_DEBUG=files amarok > amarok.log 2>&1 && grep libavcodec amarok.log

  • [SOLVED]mounting cdrom and usb devices doesn't work

    Hello,
    i have trouble mounting my usb devices. automount doesn't work and i can't mount them manually even as a superuser. here's the output of mount command:
    mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc,
    missing codepage or helper program, or other error
    In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
    dmesg | tail or so
    i can mount cdrom manually but i can't do the same for my usb stick and external hard drives. it always complains about the above regardless of the filesystem. my devices are working under windows and other linuxes so i know hardware is not the problem.
    i'm using lxde with pcmanfm.
    if you need any other files just ask.
    thanks

    above was the error when i tried to mount any usb device with "mount -t <type> /dev/sdc /media/mountpoint". and i couldn't mount any usb device as root from console. when i tried to mount devices using pcmanfm it just popped some empty dialogs and i couldn't find any mention of "IsCallerPriviliged failed" error so i (wrongly) presumed it wasn't that. i did try some of the other fixes mentioned in the forum with no success. but adding exec ck-launch-session startkde to my .xinitrc fixed the issue
    thanks again

  • [SOLVED] xfce 4.8 = auto mount doesn't work at boot

    Hi
    I installed arch linux with xfce as DE. auto mount doesn't work at boot. I read the wiki about policykit and I have
    ck-launch-session
    at my .xinitrc but still no luck. I have dbus running as a daemon and my user belong to appropriate groups (storage and ...)
    I don't want to use auto mount rules instead of xfce auto mount.
    thanks in advanced

    yes but it did not mention to install gvfs.

  • [SOLVED] Xorg and mouse with HAL doesn't work

    Hi
    I recently reinstalled Arch Linux and I have some problems... My mouse isn't working - at all! I'm using an HP Compaq 6510b.
    I've installed the following packages:
    * xf86-input-evdev
    * hal
    * dbus
    I don't have an xorg.conf file at all, as I heard that hal should solve everything automagically for me. This seems to not be the case?
    Any ideas? Thanks

  • [SOLVED]Wifi sharing over ethernet cable doesn't work Gnome 3.16.1

    Hi I wanted to share my Wifi from my laptop to another Pc via ethernet cable. On Gnome versions older than 3.14, that was pretty simple. Now I tried this solution and this.
    None works. I know my cable works as it worked perfectly on previously installed Arch Linux systems and I tested just now on my Windows 7 system. Just on my Gnome 3.16 system it doesn't.
    Any solution for this ?

    Someone who uses gnome MAY pop in, but really this is an issue with how gnome works (and when) so you may have to go to them (gnome's official support outlet) to get answers as to why its not working.... I do seem to remember seeing a post very similar to this with gnome, so maybe its some kind of bug right now? Perhaps check their bug reports?
    Fortunately, all its likely doing is settings things up for you... And you can do that yourself. Check out the wiki (should be step number one when trying to get ANYTHING to work with arch), https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Internet_sharing

  • [Solved] encryption of swap with cryptsetup doesn't work

    Hi,
    I reinstalled my because of new hardware with EFI and GPT, and now I can't get work my swap partition encrypted.
    /etc/cryptsetup:
    cryptswap /dev/sda1 /dev/urandom swap
    Also with more options (key-length, etc) doesn't change the behavior.
    /etc/fstab:
    ABEL=system / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1
    /dev/sda128 /boot vfat rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro 0 2
    /dev/mapper/cryptswap none swap sw 0 0
    I tried also without any swap-entry in the /etc/fstab, because my pam_mounted LUKS-encrypted Partitions are working well, without a fstab-entry

    There are some Bug-Reports for fedora, I don't understand, but maybe the problem is, that cryptsetup can't read /dev/urandom.
    But this works with my old mbr-partition; therefore I hope for a configuration error
    Thanks

    Looks to me like /dev/sda1 is already a swap device. Since the underlying disk is GPT formatted, systemd finds this and activates it. Your logs and swapon show exactly this.

    So, of course, systemd-cryptsetup is going to fail when it tries to encrypt a device which is already in use. Get rid of the swap signature on /dev/sda1.

  • [SOLVED] [LVM over LUKS] TRIM forwarding doesn't work

    Recently I encrypted my SSD using LUKS and created three LVM volumes on top of it. Then I added "allow-discards" to the list of kernel parameters, here is the respective entry from grub.cfg:
    linux /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/mapper/vgarch-root ro cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:vgarch:allow-discards cryptkey=/dev/disk/by-uuid/02F2-CDB8:vfat:/lukskey quiet logo.nologo loglevel=3 console=tty1 splash=silent,theme:arch-elegant elevator=noop transparent_hugepage=never radeon.modeset=1
    And an excerpt from fstab:
    /dev/mapper/vgarch-root / ext4 defaults,auto,noatime,discard 0 1
    UUID=e8ba294e-9621-422d-8f40-d9ffbc715484 /boot ext2 defaults 0 2
    /dev/mapper/vgarch-var /var ext4 defaults,auto,noatime,discard 0 2
    /dev/mapper/vgarch-home /home ext4 defaults,auto,noatime,discard 0 2
    When the system is booting up, "encrypt" hook prints the appropriate message ("Enabling TRIM/discard support."), so everything seems to work fine. But when I check for TRIM support using the following method, the last command doesn't print zeroes as expected.
    [root@archhost /]# dd if=/dev/urandom of=tempfile count=100 bs=512k oflag=direct

    Is it possible at all to enable TRIM support in this case? And if yes, what did I miss?
    Last edited by Atragor (2012-07-01 19:19:14)

    Good, my guess then would be that your trim is working already and you should be able to invoke it also with fstrim manually to get a positive confirmation in bash.
    The reason you don't see the zeros in your check should be that the hdparm reports back the wrong starting sector of the file due to offsets. See here for a thorough explanation by the developer and here another summary.

  • [SOLVED] iPhone not -completely- detected (ifuse doesn't work)

    Hi All,
    After following the wiki ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Iphone ) and looking for similar problems on the forum ( https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=133822 ), I still can not get my iPhone to be detected by ifuse, in order to be able to sync music.
    The iPhone has iOS 5.1.1 and is not jailbroken.
    The system has installed:
    linux-lqx 3.4.2-1
    ifuse 1.1.2-1
    libimobiledevice-git 20120610-1
    usbmuxd-git 20120610-1
    libplist 1.8-2
    I boot up the system (fuse module is loaded at startup), unlock the iPhone, and connect it to the system. I got:
    usb 2-2: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci_hcd
    ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: dma_pool_free ehci_qh, f2d1e060/fffff060 (bad dma)
    usb 2-2: New USB device found, idVendor=05ac, idProduct=1297
    usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
    usb 2-2: Product: iPhone
    usb 2-2: Manufacturer: Apple Inc.
    But when running ifuse command to mount it:
    No device found, is it connected?
    If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device.
    If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it.
    On the other hand, Shotwell is able to see it, and import pictures. In case it's relevant, I'm using Gnome with gvfs-fuse-daemon. Any clue about what could be failing (apart form me )?

    Yeah, you need to patch your libmobiledevice (not git).  My istuff running 5.1.1 have the same problem.  See dant's patch in this flyspray.

  • [SOLVED] Remapping keys using udev hwdb doesn't work on rightAlt

    hi, I had posted this topic in the [ newbie corner ] subforum for days, but got no repliy. I hope I can find luck  here.
    I'm trying to use udev hwdb for swapping pairs of keys ( esc, caps_lock ) and ( rightAlt , rightCtrl ) . I followed the instruction here Map Scancodes to Keycodes   with procedures describe blow. I only succeed in exchanging pair (esc, caps_lock) but failed in (rightAlt, rightCtrl).
    Details of Procedures:
    Create an empty file under /usr/lib64/udev/hwdb.d with file name 90-custom-keys.hwdb . Add the following lines into this file.
    keyboard:dmi:bvn*:bvr*:bd*:svnDell*:pn*
    KEYBOARD_KEY_01=capslock
    KEYBOARD_KEY_3a=esc
    KEYBOARD_KEY_e038=rightctrl
    KEYBOARD_KEY_e01d=rightalt
    Rebuilding hwdb.bin
    udevadm hwdb --update
    Testing and reboot my system
    udevadm --debug test /devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input0/event0
    udevadm --debug test-builtin keyboard /devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input0/event0
    Parts of the testing result of the last command looks like
    device 0x1ce3890 has devpath '/devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input0/event0'
    device 0x1ce3890 filled with db file data
    keyboard: mapping scan code 1 (0x1) to key code 58 (0x3a)
    keyboard: mapping scan code 58 (0x3a) to key code 1 (0x1)

    keyboard: mapping scan code 57400 (0xe038) to key code 97 (0x61)
    Error calling EVIOCSKEYCODE: Invalid argument
    keyboard: mapping scan code 237 (0xed) to key code 226 (0xe2)
    unload module index
    Thie last 6 lines seems to be complaining the  problem, saying that 0xe038  and 0xe01d are invalid scancodes.
    But they are scancodes of rightAlt and rightCtrl respectively, which I got from
    showkey -s
    After rebooting the system with the above settings, esc works as caps_lock and caps_lock works as  esc but  rightAlt and rightCtrl has no changes.

    Thanks plam and Raynman for your help . Follow your hints, I succeed the swapping key task in an alternative method.
    Using the command 'setkeycodes' and adding these commands into a systemd controlled service script, keymaps are exchanged as gdm started.
    Here is my script and steps for doing this.
    Created a file with filename custom-keys.service under /etc/systemd/system. Add the  following context to the file.
    [Unit]
    Description=Keymap Custom
    Requires=gdm.service
    After=gdm.service
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/setkeycodes 1 58
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/setkeycodes 3a 1
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/setkeycodes e01d 100
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/setkeycodes e038 97
    [Install]
    WantedBy=graphical.target
    Enable the script so setkeycodes commands will automatically executed when gdm starts
    systemctl enable custom-keys
    The next time you reboot your system, key changes will take effect. To test if your config works, try
    systemctl start custom-keys

    So i'm a bit out of ideas at the moment.
    However, Tarqi said something wise and Wzyboy edited the Wiki
    accordingly: the implicit relation of
        *smtp-auth*
          If set to `login', or if unset and smtp-auth-user is set, `AUTH
          LOGIN' is used
    has actually been dropped.  I didn't realize that this could
    really make some configurations unusable...
    Maybe the Wiki should only show the new configuration anyway.
    EOQ
    So yes, i looked at the ArchLinux Wiki a while back but didn't realize that the example config made use of that implicit relation.
    Sorry for the inconvenience!
    Confirmation that it works for you would be nice.

  • [solved] cryptkey /dev/disk/by-uuid doesn't work - udev does?!

    Hello,
    I have a cryptkey="/dev/disk/by-uuid/...:start:offset" option in my grub.cfg
    This one doesnt work (no keyfile found).
    But when I create a udev-rule which makes the device appear as /dev/foo (and add it to mkinitcpio.conf), the following works:
    cryptkey="/dev/foo:start:offset"
    on the other side, cryptdevice="/dev/disk/by-uuid/..." works fine.
    So why can't I use the first option but have to setup this rule instead?
    Or did I forget something?

    Oh - no iam just retarded. The device /dev/sdb doenst have a uuid... of course not. So i guess the udev solution is the only possible one.

  • [Solved] Did the iptables tutorial - SSH doesn't work

    Hi
    I followed the https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Si … l_Firewall tutorial and added
    iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 22 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT
    (like cactus suggested in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=69595).
    Sadly I still can't connect to the ssh server on my linux box, I immediately get a "connection refused".
    This is my iptables.rules
    ]$ cat vim /etc/iptables/iptables.rules

    -A UDP -p udp -m udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT

    By turning OFF iptables, SSH works again. So something must be wrong?
    Thanks!

    The guide sets up two chains for opening TCP and UDP ports, you've currently opened port 80 TCP and port 53 UDP:
    -A TCP -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
    -A UDP -p udp -m udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
    You should remove those if you're not running a web server/dns server - in fact, just change --dport 80 to --dport 22 for ssh and then get rid of the line opening port 53 UDP.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Si … PEN_chains
    You can use this to open a TCP port at any time:
    iptables -A TCP -p tcp --dport ### -j ACCEPT
    Or to open a range of ports:
    iptables -A UDP -p udp --dport 1630:1638 -j ACCEPT
    Or just several ports:
    iptables -A TCP -p tcp -m multiport --dports 80,1720,7777 -j ACCEPT

    gnome-tweak-tool shows that I have the gnome-shell-extension-user-theme extension installed and I can turn it on and off, but it has no effect. I still can't choose a theme. The exclamation mark next to the drop down selector is still active when the extension is on. Any idea what might be wrong?

    Well yea I agree, but atm it's not going to happen. Anyway, since GS won't work with Catalyst for now I resorted to DWM and try to avoid all the gconf/dconf stuff. Works quite well

    Hi,
    since today in amarok (2.4.1) the volume control doesn't work anymore. I can change the level on the switch on the top right but it doesn't change the actual volume.

  • [SOLVED]Amarok doesn't load

    Hey there,
    As the topic says, amarok doesn't load. If I try it on the konsole it doesn't output any errors. I'm really not seeing what the issue is. I've tried reinstalling amarok, to no avail. I have the same issue as this guy, unfortunately, he chose to reinstall the system. I've installed amarok 2.0 beta1, and it has the same problem. I thought that it might have been a bug in the code of amarok 2.0beta1, so I unistalled and tried the /opt/kde/bin/amarokapp and the same thing happens.

    I just thought of something... I'm going to pass one config file at a time to a new user, and see when amarok stops loading. Hopefully, I'll come up with an answer. Boy, it's going to take a while...
    And I found it!!! The config folder causing the problem was .rcc. Does anyone know what configs does the folder hold?
