SQL Developer generates strange trace files on server

Hello out there,
I observed the generation of some strange trace files on the database server (Oracle 11.0.2.0.2 64bit on Win 2008R2).
Whenever I start SQL Developer (3.2.20.09.87 64bit with JDK 1.7.0_17 64bit on Win7 64bit) for each connection I defined one trace file like this is generated:
Trace file C:\ORACLE\diag\rdbms\ora\ora\trace\ora_ora_8500.trc

On other servers, similar trace files are generated, one for each connection in my SQL Developer.
This also occurred with JDK 1.6 so I don't think it's a Java issue.
Besides the generation of the trace files there seem to be no other problems.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I think Srini is probably correct. The noted bug applies to 11.2.0.1 and up, is fixed in 12c, and included in an 11.2.0.3 patch. However the version of SQL Developer also affects the creation of trace files on product startup (prior to any user initiated db connect attempts).
For example,
A. SQL Developer 3.1.07.42 - no such trace files created.
B. SQL Developer 3.2.20.09.87 - such trace files created for 11.2.0.1 connections, but not 10g XE or 12c connections.
So I presume an OCIServerAttach call got added in 3.2.2, not sure in support of which feature, but the bug will only impact users of 11.2.0.1, 11.2.0.2, and unpatched 11.2.0.3 DB releases.

• Strange trace files after code generation! Are they generated by XText?

We have a DSL from which we generate C-Code (.c and .h files). The project build (especially on Windows platform) is very slow mainly due to refreshing and indexing (by Eclipse CDT) mysterious trace files.
Currently we don't know which part of the framework is responsible for generating these trace files (CDT, XText, Eclipse, whatever ...).
We were not able to analyse the content of the trace file, since none of the files appear at the file system.
The filename syntax is as follows:
For a C source code file "/project/src-gen/my_c_function.c" the following trace file gets generated: "/project/src-gen/.my_c_function.c._trace"
Does anybody know if XText is responsible for this ?

Hi
Sounds like a bad bug. I would progress in two ways.
Load EGIT as source and profile to see where the time goes.
Use Wireshark to see if unexpected Internet traffic is occurring quite
possibly with long timeouts.

There was some business users activity going on at that time.
These trace files are not readable.
I have restarted the instance and it has successfully opened.
Can any one help me to find whats the root cause of this crash???

Actually My metalink account has just expired and right now I only have read only access to metalink Thats why I have asked for help here. I am waiting for the access grants from my manager and defiantly i will open SR for this.

• SQL*NET waits in trace file

Hi All,
There is a long running query, i generated trace file for this request. In trace file i found that there are huge waits on SQL*Net message from client
The below is the trace file output:
Elapsed times include waiting on following events:
Event waited on Times Waited Max. Wait Total Waited
SQL*Net message to client 16 0.00 0.00
SQL*Net more data to client 17 0.00 0.00
db file sequential read 1450 0.02 4.26
SQL*Net message from client 16 1414.20 2702.84
How to resolve this waits from SQL*NET message from client? I checked the network connection, there is no delays in network.
Any inputs on this issue will be appreciated.

As Satish indicated, the "SQL*Net message from client" wait is an event which indicates that the database server was waiting for the next request from the client computer, and not an indication that the query needs to be tuned. Manually review the trace file. At one point in the trace file, you will see this wait event with an ela= value which begins with 14142 - please post to this thread that line from the trace file along with the 20 lines before that line and the 20 lines after that line. You may just have a long wait on this event at the beginning, and another long wait on this event at the end of the query.

hi virendra.k and Kecskemethy,
thanks for your help. believe i find the arnswer.
1. i used shared server connection. i can find the trace info in the backgroup_dump_dest, in the files: cs10g_s000_17467.trc and cs10g_s001_17469.trc
Ref:http://www.dbspecialists.com/files/presentations/tracing_ind_sessions.html
First, rather than using DBMS_MONITOR.CLIENT_ID_TRACE_ENABLE, we use DBMS_MONITOR.SESSION_TRACE_ENABLE. This can be run either by the session itself,
or by another session (specifying the SID of the session to be traced). The tracing output will be in the instance’s background_dump_dest directory,
rather than the user_dump_dest. And then you use trcsess with the session_id option, where session ID is actually the SID.SERIAL# of the session
(from v$session). Again you get a consolidated trace file containing just the activity of the desired session.2. after change to dedicated server, the trace file is generated in user_dump_dest now.

• Extract SQL history from 10046 trace files

Hi all,
I need to extract the complete sql history from sql trace files to "debug" a client application.
I know I can read the raw trc file and rebuild the sql history looking for the PARSING / EXEC / FETCH entries.
However, this is a very long and boring manual task: do you know if there is some free tool to automate this task?
thanks

I agree that the 10046 trace captures everything. If I do read the raw trc file I see the DML. • Sql developer 3.0 EA 1 & Oracel server on OpenVMS

For Developers!
We have:
Oracle server on OpenVMS. SQL Developer on Windows XP.
In DBA we have a problem with file names on openvms -
It says about file name like 'DISK$1111:[oracle10g.oradata.db]system.dbf' - not valid.
You must change this bug! Please!
SQL Developer is very good.

Hi,
I see this is your first posting on this forum. Welcome.
When reporting Early Adopter problems or queries, it's much easier for us if you tell us exactly what you are doing when you encounter issues. I can guess broadly where you encounter this error, but more detail means that we get to the exact problem you are encountering. What are you doing when you encounter the error, what is the version of the database and do you have the same issue when connecting to other databases?

• EDI X12 scenario, deq.bat file not generating any trace file.

hello,
i have worked on the EDI X12 over internet(AS2) Transaction, everything is working fine until the creation and deployment of configurations on both Acme and GlobalChips servers. But During the Verification of Purchase Order Transactions when i am running deq.bat file on both Acme and GlobalChips servers the dq script is not generating any t1.trc trace file.
There is no problem with the Trading Partners on both servers they are on upstate, can anyone help me with this issue please, its very urgent.
note: where will be the web.xml file for transportServlet located, can anyone provide me with the file path.
thnx
sunny

Hello Sinkar,
Thanks for your reply,Finally i have managed resolve the issue(deq.bat file is generating t1.trc file) successfully. But there are certain other issues regarding this topic in which i need your help.
When i am running the deq.bat file in command prompt on both acme and globalchips servers it is showing the following status
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>deq.bat
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>java oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.data.IPDeq
ueue ipdequeue.properties
IPDequeue start...
Dequeue from IP_IN_QUEUE
and it also generated a t1.trc file on both servers, but the prompt in which i have run deq.bat is not giving any further message
i.e some thing like IPDequeue end.
and not even coming back to the original path i.e
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>
and even if close the prompt it is not showing anything in t1.trc file and if i am running the enq_850.bat in acme server it is showing following stat
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>enq_850.bat
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>java oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.data.IPEnq
ueue enq_850.properties
IPEnqueue start...
IPEnqueue end.
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>
and its didn't showing anything in the t1.trc file generated on the globalchips server and same thing is happening when i am running enq_855.bat file on the globalchips server its not showing up anything in the trace file generated on the acme server.
I have tried one thing that u have suggested for such kind of issue(t1.trc empty) in your forums
1.) I have applied the patch #6673231 and it is showing the Document Routing Id Field in the B2B UI,but when i am completing all the process in B2B UI and running deq.bat file the result is still the same, the IPDequeue is not ending
But a certain change has taken place after applying the pat
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>java oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.data.IPEnq+
ueue enq_850.properties+
IPEnqueue start...+
Action Name = null
IPEnqueue end.+
D:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>+
C:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>enq_855.bat+
C:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>java oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.data.IPEnq+
ueue enq_855.properties+
IPEnqueue start...+
Action Name = null
IPEnqueue end.+
C:\oracle\OraJ2EE\ip\tutorial\X12\runtime>+
I Think that no action is taking place in both the cases
bcoz its showing this Action Name = null+
if that is the case what is the problem here
I have also set oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.DocumentRouting=true.
but the situation is still the same, please read the above problem carefully and suggest a solution which would be fruitful for my further progress.
thanks
sunny

• Sql developer impossible to connect to the server MSS at localhost

hi,
plz help i can't connect to sql server 2008 via SQL Developer i want to migrate a database with online migrate.
thank's

The 'connection refused' error probably means that TCP/IP connections haven't been enabled for the MSSQL server.
However, SQL Developer doesn't work with the microsoft driver, you must use jtds.
To find out why the connection tab isn't appearing try running sqldeveloper from <sqldev>\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe. This will open a console which may show useful information.
Remember you need to select the JAR file, not the directory.

• View jobs with SQL Developer and export to file with delimiter

Hi,
is there a way to view, create and alter my database jobs with SQL developer?
And is it possible to export tables, views or simple queries to file delimited different from the CSV standard?
Diego.

Hi and Welcome to the Forum!!
To select data from a table or a view you must use the SELECT sql command. Example to get the data from your view you can
select ZMATNUM,ZMATCUR,ZMATATTR from ZMATERIALAs you have said you are using SQL Developer just execute the above query in your sql developer and it will show the data. Right click the grid and export the data to excel file.

• HOW TO: Open SQL Developer from a batch file with specific tables opened

I use SQL Developer daily as I develop database intensive programs.
** Question **
How can I define a specific configuration of tabs (i.e. tables, procedures, etc) to be opened upon startup of SQL Developer?
For example, creating a .BAT file to open SQL Developer with a specific set of table tabs already opened. This will save me the time every morning I use to open SQL Developer and configure all the tables I need opened.
NOTE: I have tried various options of appending a table name to a command line starting sqldeveloper.exe. For example: ..\sqldeveloper.exe mydatabase.mytable. However, this only opens a worksheet tab with the name "mydatabase.mytable" but does not open my actual table.
Any help will be appreciated.

what version are you using? Sql Dev 1.5?
Not an exact answer, but you could try using Table FILTER
click on your connection
right button on TABLES
click apply filter

• Another SQL Developer bug - End of file in comment

I found another SQL Developer bug in version 3.0.0.4.
If I try to compile some package from file (so I open file with package body in SQL Developer and assign it to some connection) with this kind of comment: /* comment */ behind end of package, I get this error
I got Error(1250,28): PLS-00111: end-of-file in commentFunny is, that when the package is compiled directly from the database - it works.
When I try to compile the package from file with this kind of comment --comment behind the end of package, it also works...

Hi, I think I finally got it. This looks like an ugly fat bug :)
First, we are not using the .sql extensions. For package specification - we use .pks. For package body - we use .pkb.
Create this script:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE TEST_xxx AS
PROCEDURE TEST_PROCEDURE;
END TEST_xxx; /*0123456789*/Now save this as e.g. "TEST.pks" file. Open this file in SQL Developer and compile it. You will get the "Error(3,27): PLS-00111: end-of-file in comment".
Now look at the result in the database -> Open the package specification from the database and you see this:
create or replace
PACKAGE TEST_xxx AS
PROCEDURE TEST_PROCEDURE;
END TEST_xxx; /*0123456789*The last slash is missing...
Now go back to the file with the package specification and delete one letter from the comment. Compile it again... it works now.
It looks like the length of this kind of comment is limited to 9 characters.
The limitation is there only when:
1) Compiling from file with different extension than .sql !!! If you rename the file to "TEST.sql", SQL Developer opens it as a script file and runs it as a script, so there is no problem with it.
2) It has to be this kind of comment: /* */. One line comments are not limited.

• SQL Developer generating an XML Schema for a table

I hope I've put this question in to correct area of the forum!
My question is how do you generate an XML schema of a table layout in SQL Developer?
You can generate an XML schema for the DATA, but I just want to generate one with all the column definitions etc.
The annoying thing is I managed to do this the other day, but after attempting again for several hours I've forgotten how to do it :-(
Thanks and regards, Adrian

A more specific answer, using SqlDeveloper itself, can be found at

• How to stop the generating the trace file

Hi Gurus,
My client requirement is stop the trace file generation in our database.
How can I achieve this ?
what are the impact of the database , if I do the same in our database.
Thanks,
Tippu

Does this database have a four-digit version?
And which trace file. In some cases you won't be able to stop it, and/or you'd better institute maintenance routines to purge them regularly, or you will loose diagnostic info.
