Strange font embed error only on my comp.

I embeded a font into my css file. However, the main.mxml
page is showing several errors.
1084:Syntax error: expecting rightparen before s.
1093: Syntax error.
1094:A string literal must be terminated before the line
break
I sent to code to my cousin and he got it to work on his 2.01
builder without any modifications to the code i sent.
I emailed to code to my house and tried it on my house
computer with builder 2.01 and still had no problems.
The issue seems to be with my office computer. How can this
be happening.
I un-installed, re-installed, got the latest java etc...
To further diagnose the problem, i copied the inline embed
font code from adobe quick example. Same error.
I used this code directly from the adobe site.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application

font-family: Copacetix;
font-size: 24pt;
</mx:Style>
<mx:Text styleName="MyTextStyle" text="Embedded fonts

</mx:Application>
What could it be on my computer that is causing this. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting the exact same error. I just switched from a PC
to a mac, copied over the files, and now I get this compiler error
when I try to embed a font.

  • Font errors in some fonts (missing "o") only when printing. Snow Leopard.

    In a couple of fonts I use most commonly, the letter "o" (lower case o), does not print. A space appears when the letter should be. It displays fine on the screen. In a QuickView of the font file, the letter is also missing. This just started after I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
    1. What is causing this?
    2. How can I fix it?
    3. Is there a good application that will let me see in innards of the font in detail?
    4. How could the display differ from the printed version?
    More info:
    These fonts were originally purchase a long time ago (about 15 years ago) from Adobe. They are Berkeley and InterState.
    The problem occurs in all variations of the fonts.
    I have 100s of fonts; so far only these two are affected, but I haven't been able to look at every other font.

    What I don't understand is 1) why these fonts worked in Leopard but not Snow Leopard and 2) why these particular fonts.
    If you search you will find a large number of posts in these forums about changes in Snow Leopard related to fonts, e.g.

  • When creating PDF from web page why does text appears as strange font not readable?

    I am using Acrobat Standard, ver. 9.5.5.  Frequently if I save a web page on either Firefox or Internet Explorer by printing to my Adobe PDF driver, much of the text is rendered in a strange font rather than in the font that appears on the web page.  The only work-around I have found is to print the document to a printer and then scan the printed page to create a PDF.  Is there a solution to this problem?

    The OS may be an issue so what are you using Win7, Win8, XP, MAC, or other? In printing, what job settings are you using? When you open the PDF, check the properties (ctrl-D) to see if the fonts are embedded or not. The problem is likely related to the font not being embedded. The embedding may be a license issue for the font. Acrobat will only embed fonts that are properly licensed. You might try the Print or Press job settings that are a bit better to embedding all fonts.

  • Strange Disk Utility error

    I've got a mid-2011 MacBook Air running OS 10.7.4. When I run Disk Utility in repair disk mode, I get a pop up that says "Alert - Storage system verify or repair failed" and in the details window it says "Problems were encountered during repair of the partition map" and (in ominous red type) "Error: Storage system verify or repair failed."
    What makes this problem strange is that I only encounter this error message when running Repair Disk from the MacBook Air's hard drive. Whenever I boot from an external drive and run Disk Utility on the MacBook Air disk from the external, I get no error message. I've run Disk Warrior on the MacBook Air disk as well, but it doesn't indicate that there are any problems.
    I called Apple Support and they told me  to take it to the Apple Store and get the hard drive replaced, which is nice of them but which still means that I'm going to be without a computer for a few days if not longer and I'll have to deal with the hassle of transferring files. I'd much prefer to fix the problem without having to replace the drive, assuming the problem is fixable.
    Any advice?

    The item you select does it appear somewhat like this:
    Of course the content is different, but I'm more interested in the structure you see. On your computer you see Macintosh HD whereas on mine it says Lion HD.
    If so, then in order to repair Macintsoh HD you have to boot from a different drive because you cannot repair the active startup volume. When you select the top entry and click on the Repair Disk button all that does is repair or replace the drive's partition map.
    Now, if the partition map is damaged, then the only way to fix it is to repartition the SSD. Doing so will erase all the data on the drive. So you need to make a backup of Macintosh HD on a cleanly erased external drive. I would suggest using the cloning option in Disk Utility to clone the SSD to the external HDD:
    Clone Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue button.
    Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    Check the box labeled Erase destination.
    Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    Destination means the external HDD. Source means the internal SSD.
    Once you have your backup then you may proceed to repartition the SSD.
    Step One: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Step Two: Partition the SSD
    1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder of the HDD.
    2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    Step Three: Clone the HDD to the SSD
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    Destination means the SSD. Source means the HDD.
    Step Four: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the SSD Macintosh HD volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the SSD.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

  • Strange Fonts in labview graph's plot legend.

    Hello All,
        I am running labview 7.1 on a Windows XP machine and
    the default and only language is English (US). Verified this under

        When I run a VI, I get strange fonts in the plot

    I change the font to something I can read, save the VI and run it again

  • Strange fonts problem in VirtualBox

    Hello!
    I've got some strange font artifacts, could anyone suggest something?
    http://imagebin.ca/view/WJVkiH2n.html

    I have used VB on my MBP for some time and have Win7 (64bit), Win2000 and Ubuntu virtual machines all working well.
    I suspect that you may have allocated all CPU cores to each VM. I found that will cause the whole machine to become sluggish. I reduced the numbers of cores to: Win7, two (of four on my MBP), and; Win2000 and Ubuntu, one each.
    Of course, only have one machine, including the MBP, doing heavy processing at once.
    Also keep in mind that installing an operating system is CPU intensive.
    Hope that helps.

  • Sandbox error only when loading URL containing directory with purely numeric name.

    This error only occurs under very strange circumstances.  We have several clients whose domain names begin with a sequence of digits (e.g. 401blah.com).  We have file paths under another server employing directory names derived from these domain names. (e.g. /4/401/...).  We employ the same scheme for all domain names, so fooblah.com would utilize directory /f/fooblah/...
    Our swf file is embedded in an HTML page which is served up from 401blah.com (name is an example).  It attempts to load images from another server (e.g. pictures.foo.com//4/401/...).  The pictures.foo.com site has a crossdomain.xml file that permits all domains to access its contents.  When the swf at fooblah.com tries to load an image at pictures.foo.com//f/fooblah/... it does so without a hitch.  However, when the same swf hosted in an identical page at 401blah.com attempts to access an image at pictures.foo.com//4/401/... it fails with the following error:
    Error #2048: Security sandbox violation: http://401blah.com/v8/widgets/generic/image/semantic-slideshow.swf cannot load data from http:/pictures.foo.com/4/401blah/0288/2015daea4046387201f6d2e38e0c1ac6.jpg
    Now, I'm using fake names for the domain here in order to obfuscate the customer, but if I substitute in the correct customer name, the URL http:/pictures.foo.com/4/401blah/0288/2015daea4046387201f6d2e38e0c1ac6.jpg does, in fact, access the correct image.
    When we use non numeric directory names everything works without a hitch.  When we use numeric directory names, despite all info being in its proper place and a proper crossdomain.xm, loading the images in fails.
    In fact, according to our net-trace, when we use numeric directory names, pictures.foo.com (fake domain name substituted in for real domain name), flash doesn't even try to look at its crossdomain.xml file (while it does try, and succeeds at doing so, when non numeric directory names are used).
    It looks like Flash is doing some kind of test on the URL and making an incorrect determination on it.  Any help on this that does not involve changing our directory scheme would be appreciated.  I have read all of the relevent documentation and our crossdomain.xml file is set up correctly, so please focus on the behavior visa vi strange treatment of numeric directory names in the URL.

  • Font embed issue in Dir 11.5

    Hi,
    I have issue with font embed in Director 11.5. This only happens in one particular PC that I am using - other ones are fine. I make a director movie, and embed some fonts into the cast library. Using these fonts in the text members and so, I tested it in authoring environment and everything appeared OK. However when I published it, right after the processing bar ended, a message said that some texts are using fonts that are not embedded, while it was obvious that the embedded font was there. I checked the text member using the broken font, and the text appeared broken (using default font instead) and the font selection box says that the font is (missing). I wonder if anyone have similar problem or is it isolated to just my one PC?

    Yes, and when I use the installed font, it pose no problem. Only when I use embedded font then it show problems.
    It seems that I may just get away with using installed fonts, however, since I am making projectors to be distributed, embedded font becomes a necessity.

  • InDesign CC won't package due to "Cannot copy necessary font(s)" error.

    Every time I try to package out a file in InDesign its gets about 3/4s of the way through and then shows the "Cannot copy necessary font(s)" dialog box. I have read on certain discussions it may be a font issue. When I remove ALL fonts from my computer font library and use only preset Adobe fonts, Arial Regular for example, it works fine, then as soon as I use a font say, Helvetica Neue Light, I get the error. I have only recently upgraded to CC and all of the existing fonts in my library have always worked fine and never been a problem when packaging... However due to the tests with different fonts, it seems to be a font issue and not a links/filename issue like other people have had.

    I am experiencing the exact same problem/same error message as Brendan. I just installed InDesign CC; was using CS5 prior, and WAS having NO issues with the same fonts being packaged (all Myriad Pro family). In the Package dialog box > Fonts section; this is displayed: "8 Fonts Used, 0 Missing, 0 Embedded, 0 Incomplete, 0 Protected." The Show Problems Only checkbox IS checked, no problems flagged, no errors in the Preflight panel either. On the "More Info" panel within the "Find Font" menu, every one of the fonts used has "Restrictions: Normal".  Packaging with the "Report" button option selected is not helpful, (you'll get a text file with YourJob_report.txt, showing no font errors) InDesign stops packaging but creates a job Folder containing a "Document Fonts" folder with only a tmp file inside. Extract that and read it in a Text Editor. Here's what I found:
    "Copyright © 2000 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. It seems MyriadPro Black Condensed MAY be the culprit in my case.
    By the way, isn't it a bit redundant to manually create a "Document Fonts" folder, drag / copy all the fonts used in my file into that folder, THEN to try and "package" them— again?! What ? Isn't that the whole point of the feature, to perform that exact task?

  • Font/Text error...

    Hi,
    I have this widget which is a simple PayPal based shop.
    When I open the .FLA file I get this wierd error. It says that "Tahoma_9pt_st" font is missing and when I publish the project the final output misses a lot of letters and some are replaced by different ones... Take a look for yourself.
    What could be the case?
    Thanks for help in advance

    Yes all the text is handed frought ActionScripts form XML file.
    Here is is a spipet which defines the font:
    var clipParameters = {align: 1, disableStyles: 1, embedFont: 1, fontColor: 1, fontFace: 1, fontSize: 1, html: 1};
    var __fontFace: String = "_sans";
    <...>
        function set fontFace(font)
            this.__fontFace = font;
            this.invalidate();
        function get fontFace()
            return this.__fontFace;
    In other places font face is only applied to lables.
    The problem is defently with font because in .xml file there is a CDATA areas in them I changed font by HTML tags and it is looking fine.

  • Getting Error :- Only one instance of COBRAS Export can be running at a time

    Hi All,
    I was checking the Briefcase Mode help file and it mentions for Unity Conection
    that COBRAS will run multiple instances of itself – if you schedule multiple backups to fire up at the same time they will all run at the same time.
    However if I schedule multiple backups to fire at the same time then I get the error :- "Only one instance of COBRAS Export can be running at a time".
    This also happens if the COBRAS windows is left open and the scheduled backup starts in the background.
    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/Help/COBRAS_Briefcase/COBRAS_Briefcase.htm#_Toc276653845
    I am not sure if I am making a mistake in understanding the statement :- "COBRAS will run multiple instances of itself – if you schedule multiple backups to fire up at the same time" or do we need to add any switch like lot of other application need like /m etc in the field of the scheduled backups as I see as /silent switch for process to run in background automatically but none for multiple instances.
    I am attaching the screen shots of the errors I got when
    A.) I scheduled 2 backups to run at the same time and the COBRAS application window was open "COBRASExportCUC7.exe" was running  and no backup took place and got errors for both the scheduled backups.
    And
    B.) I scheduled 2 backups to run at the same time and the COBRAS application window was closed off and "COBRASExportCUC7.exe" was not running and one of the scheduled backups started to work and the other one gave error and didn't work
    Unity Connection in use :- Version 8.0.3.20000-18
    Cobras Export :- Version 1.0 Build 76
    Please Suggest.

    (E-Mail :- [email protected])

    Yeah, I’m of two minds on that – on the one hand it’s bad style to have a scheduled application popping dialog boxes (especially if you’re running as an account you don’t log in as regularly) – one the other hand I did have some sites go a while not noticing backups were failing (due to a UNC not flying any longer after a server reconfig) – folks can be bad about checking log files or the event log for issues.  A pop up would pretty much guarantee they’d notice on next login at any rate.
    I think I may stitch in email notifications in COBRAS Export in the same way they’re in the User Data Dump so failures of scheduled backups would be noticed right away (big, bright email in your box saying “failed!” would do it).
    Either way, I’ll update the help and make sure it fails quietly for now when I update some other items on the site middle of next week.
    Thanks for the report.

  • Interactive report gives an error only for a specific user

    An interactive report based on a very complicated select gives an error only when a specific user is logged on.
    The error is:
    ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CLOB.
    For other users logging using this page it works fine.
    Authentication for this application is done using a stored function.
    The query does not use the current userid in it.
    Why does it fail for a specific user? if there is a problem, it should fail all the time.

    Hi ankur,
    By what you said the report dont have any date parameters or no date columns.
    "Query execution was not successful ORA-01843 not a valid month." This means it is related with date mask passing a invalid month into date column or argument to to_date function.Check once the session date that is 'dd-mm-yy' or anything else
    select * from nls_session_parameters where parameter = 'NLS_DATE_FORMAT'
    select to_date('01-DEC-06'),to_date('01-12-06') from dual;
    Also a general question whenever I am trying to mark any question as 'Helpful', the status is not changing. Is there anything I am missing.While you flag it 'helpful' or 'correct',it takes you to other screen where you see "Yes, the question is now answered" click the radio button and then click ok button.
    Hope its helpful.
