Streaming from an HD Source?

I use uStream.TV to stream my broadcasts. I also have a BlackMagic Intensity Pro that I use to capture my video sources. Using Flash Media Live Encoder, I can stream my video from the Intensity Pro to uStream if the video coming from my source is NTSC. I don't stream the NTSC source, I end up downscaling my videos down to 640x320. However, I noticed that if I set my source to 720p, then FMLE won't pick it up anymore. Is there a reason why I can't use an HD source with FMLE? I understand not being able to broadcast an HD source, but I should at least be able to read it in.
The reason I want to do this is so that I can record the source in 1280x720 HD (using Cineform Prospect), while at the same time live streaming the source in 640x320. Why is this not possible? I have a computer powerful enough to do it...

The size has been fixed?  What do you mean?
anything new on this?
I don't have time to play with this all the time...
I just want to use a high end Sony Camera as the video source and capture 1080i video and audio and stream it up to the FMS....
What I have been lead to beleive is you can only use firewire with FMLE and that only gives you DV content.  While that looks good it's no 1080i or even 720p. (I have lots and lots of bandwidth)
So is there a way to do this with the blackmagic?
If not is there a capture card that will work with FMLE and capture 1080i/720p amd stream up to the server?
With CS4 out for-ever and now CS5 releaseing you think there would be a newer product.  One that can encode from HD sources.
Right now I would think HDMI would be the preferred way to go....

  • About Flash P2P live streaming from non-webcam sources

    Hello, I am a university student. Our lab is attempting to work on a p2p live streaming using flash p2p features. The media source is not from a webcam but a file from a certain server, which is not directly supported by any of the 4 methods flash player offers(posting, direct routing , object replication,and multicast.) As some of the forum threads mentioned, our method is to use NetStream.publish() a stream and use send("callbackname", data)  to all subscribers that have joined in a NetGroup. So we can use p2p transmission. Now here are our questions:
    1. We know from MAX 2009 that flash p2p camera video multicasting implements pull-push mechanism inside which makes full use of p2p features like buffer map exchange. If we use NetStream.send() API to send non-webcam source data, will it also make use of this pull-push mechanism to spread data among all peers(subscribers) with proper data exchange?
    or more detailedly,
    I saw the P2P Gaming Libs at flashrealtime.com. It uses DIRECT_CONNECTIONS when creating publish-used NetStream in order to send data with lowest latency. My question is if I do not use DIRECT_CONNECTIONS, than when the NetGroup grow large (1000), will those peers that are not direct neighbors to the publisher in the same group relay data to each other using pull-push via buffer map?
    2. I have written a sample app and use send() to deliver data only (NetStream.bufferTime = 0) without camera video and audio. When the publisher sends the data  in a "for()" stantence for 20 times, the subscribers can only receive about 8 of them. But when I set a timer and periodically send them(e.g., 500ms), the subscribers can receive them correctly. My questions are: Is the packet loss caused by UDP unreliability? Can this be solved by setting the NetStream.dataReliable = ture? Can this totally be solved by setting a timer? How to set the delaytime property in timer? Are all data sent are orderedly received?
    I'm very appreciated if you can answer my questions? thanks.

    1. NetStream.send() data is delivered in the order it was sent, whether in client-server, DIRECT_CONNECTIONS, or multicast mode.
    2. the lowest latency will be achieved with DIRECT_CONNECTIONS.  however, that isn't scalable to large numbers of recipients.  the P2P multicast system trades low latency for scalability.
    3. there are no plans to support a natural NetStream streaming source that's not a camera/microphone.  Flash Media Server can perform that function.
    4. you should never need to implement "bitmap exchange"; the object replication system handles all the communication needed to accomplish its function. typically you will divide a file into segments, giving each one an index number. object replication uses ranges internally, so the index numbers should be contiguous.  nodes that have indices use NetGroup.addHaveObjects().  nodes that want indices they don't have use NetGroup.addWantObjects().  nodes that have objects will send them to nodes that want the objects.  when a node receives an object, it's automatically removed from its "want" set; once the node decides the object is acceptable, it adds it to its "have" set, at which point it can answer requests from other nodes who still "want" it.  eventually every node will have all the pieces and not want any.  for an example, please see Tom Krcha's articles on using object replication:
       http://www.flashrealtime.com/file-share-object-replication-flash-p2p/
       http://www.flashrealtime.com/video-on-demand-over-p2p-in-flash-player-101-with-object-repl ication/
    5. please see Tom Krcha's articles.  for VOD you will probably want to use the "LOWEST_FIRST" replication strategy, as that may allow you to start playing earlier.  for general file replication you'll get better sharing if you use RAREST_FIRST.

  • Streaming from two sources

    Hi:
    I need streaming to Flash Media Server from two sources (microphone and sound tarjet)in my pc with FME.
    Streaming from microphone connect and start correctly (config stream=streaming1), but streaming from sound tarjet (config stream=streaming2) connect but doesn't start.
    Why?
    Regards.

    Hello,
    It is possible that you are seeing the consequences of LabVIEW compiling code written in parallel. More specifically, if you have code in parallel (not connected by dataflow, but in the same block diagram) LabVIEW will split execution time between those parts of your code. Previously you were likely manually starting two separate programs, which inherently adds a delay between the start of the programs, allowing the first program to get sufficiently far in its execution; we could be seeing the consequence of this. It would help if you could be more specific about the details of your setup and code (such as 1. which instruments are connected to which ports? 2. are you writing a command to your instruments and then receiving data as a response? 3. do you rec
    eive any errors? 4. if you do receive errors, which errors do you see and where in your code do you first see them?).
    Repost with some more information (perhaps a screen shot or your code) and we can get a more definitive answer!

  • Audio streaming on my Mac from an unknown source

    Hi. This has happened a couple of times where I don't have any programs running that I can tell and audio starts streaming on my Mac from an unknown source. This last time it was a talk radio. Internet browser is closes and no other programs are open. When I turned off airport it disappeared. Am I being hacked or do I have a virus?

    How frustrating??

  • HT3819 video stream from amazon prime to my TV

    i want to video stream from amazon prime to my TV  via my ipad, mac book using my apple TV device..

    there is no reason to get rid of Apple devices, not when a Chromecast, Roku, or FireTV can be acquired so cheaply.
    This is a true statement, but this is a bad option in the long term since your content will be split between different sources, DRM rules, apps, access options, etc.  You are going to constantly be running into issues were you want to watch a show that is not available on the device (phone, tablet, etc) you are on.  I share "Disgusted_with_apple" frustrations in that Apple has not updated in three years now leaving Amazon FireTV and others with better interfaces and features but having my content locked into Apple's DRM.
    Apple was really first to market with a viable TV interface device, and has completely turned the market over to its competitors just by not showing up.  And now ATV can not play content, or provide features that ALL of the competitors have.   I recently bought an Amazon FireTV and love it.  The only advantage Apple has left is the iTunes Store still has more content, but that is not likely to last.

  • Can't Get ATV to Stream from iTunes

    OK, I can't get my ATV to stream from my iTunes. when I initially set up the ATV, it synced to my iTunes. I actually don't recall any option to sync or stream, but makbe I missed it.
    Anyway, the help says the following:
    "Playing your iTunes library on your TV using Apple TV
    If you have an Apple TV, you can stream items from your iTunes library to your TV. You can also sync your Apple TV with your iTunes library so that content is automatically loaded onto your Apple TV.
    Syncing your Apple TV with iTunes
    If your Apple TV is synced with an iTunes library, it is already set up for streaming. You can also stream items from an iTunes library that isn't synced with your Apple TV. You can stream from up to five iTunes libraries, plus the library the Apple TV is synced with.
    To set up your Apple TV for streaming:
    Make sure the computer you want to stream from is on, and iTunes is open.
    On your Apple TV, choose Sources, choose "Connect to New iTunes," and make a note of the passcode displayed.
    In iTunes, select the Apple TV with "Click to set up" next to it, and enter the passcode.
    While content is being streamed, the computer must remain on and iTunes must remain open. If you stream content while Apple TV is syncing, the sync pauses until streaming stops.
    You can stream from only one iTunes library at a time. To stream from a different library, choose Sources on your Apple TV and then choose another source."
    Now, here is the problem:
    1. It says "If your Apple TV is synced with an iTunes library, it is already set up for streaming." NOT. No where do I see any stream or share selection. Only sync.
    2. It says "You can stream from up to five iTunes libraries, plus the library the Apple TV is synced with." Again, not that I can see.
    3. It says "On your Apple TV, choose Sources, choose "Connect to New iTunes," and make a note of the passcode displayed." I don't have a "Sources" option anywhere in ATV. How am I supposed to select it?? All I have is a "Computers" selection, which shows me my current selected computer for synching, and another option to share a library, with a new passcode. But, only to a second computer, not my main one (where all the files are!).
    I don't understand. It's like it's referring to some other device, with different menus. Now, I have ver 2.0 of ATV, and 7.6 of iTunes. WHAT IS GOING ON?
    I purchased this thing to take advantage of streaming, for photos and video. I only bought the 32 GB unit, but even the 160 would not be bug enough to have all my photos and HD video. So, streaming is a must. But, it would be nice to also sync the music files so I can listen to them without having the computer on. If the thing functed like the manual says, I would be happy. But, it doesn't.
    HELP!!

    Good news- this is all so much simpler that you think. (I know because I too struggled with it for days.) It turns ou that you have to do NOTHING to set up streaming with 2.0. Once you have synced your computer, just leave your computer running and on your TV using ATV you will see whatever movies you have imported into iTunes in the movie menu even if you have not synced them. The only way that you can tell that they are not synced is that when you select them to play the streaming bar will appear briefly at the bottom of your TV screen to indicate that it is being synced. If you turn your computer off the movie that you have chosen would not even appear in the menu.
    Hope this helps- it is too bad apple doesn't give more info about using ATV!

  • Error while executing SSIS package - Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11. A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)

    Hi,
    We are getting the following error when running our SSIS packages on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1:
    Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11.   A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)
    SQL Server Data Tools and SQL Server Database Engine reside on the same server.
    We tried the following:
    Disabling TCP Chimney Offload
    Installed Windows Server 2008 SP1
    Splitting our SSIS code into multiple steps so it is not all one large continuous operation
    The error occurs during a BulkDataLoad task.
    Other options we are investigating with the engineering team (out-sourced, so delayed responses):
    Firewall configurations (everything is local, so this should not make a difference)
    Disabling the anti-virus scanner
    Are there other things we can try?
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi HenryKwan,
    Based on the current information, the issue can be caused by many reasons. Please refer to the following tips:
    Install the latest hotfix based on your SQL Server version. Ps: there is no SQL Server 2012 R2 version.
    Change the MaxConcurrentExecutables property from -1 to another one based on the MAXDOP. For example, 8.
    Set "RetainSameConnection" Property to FALSE on the all the connection managers.

  • How to stream FROM Windows 8.1 TO Apple TV

    Is is possible to stream audio or, better yet, audiovisual, from my Windows 8.1 PC to my Apple TV WITHOUT using iTunes?  Don't get me wrong, streaming from iTunes works great (at least for audio).  But I wouid like to mirror or at least stream YouTube and other non-iTunes sources from my PC to my Apple TV.
    Home sharing is on and homegroup and Bonjour are both on/enabled.
    What precise steps on my PC must I take to make this work?

  • Live streaming from mp4 file

    Hello everybody,
    I know that's a noob question (as I am) but i can't make it run.
    I have an mp4 file and the folders structure is....
    Application/test/sources/_definst_
    in _definst_ source.mp4
    in test folder main.asc file
    main.asc file contains
    var mystream;
    var intervalID;
    application.onAppStart = function(){
    mystream = Stream.get("mylive");
    intervalID = setInterval(startPublish,100); / checking every 100 ms if we can start publish
    function startPublish(){
    if(checkTime() == true){
    clearInterval(intervalID ); //clearing the interval so that startPublish won't be called again
    myStream.play("mp4:sample.mp4",0,-1,true) //starting the live publish of recorded file sample.mp4
    function checkTime(){
    myDate = new Date();
    if(myDate.getHours() == 21) // This means its 2 PM
    return true;
    else
    return false;
    All this stuff doesn't work. When I go to the admin panel and select test under new instance the stream appears on the left side but if press enter on _definst_ it disappears from the column.
    What's wrong?
    Is possible with this code run that video on ios devices?
    Thank you very much

    Hi,
    By default the FMS looks for the media under <application>/streams/_definst_/ and not sources/_definst_/. In case you want to specify the media location then copy the Application.xml from the vod sample application and edit the Streams tag. For eg :
    <StreamManager>
                        <VirtualDirectory>
          <!-- Specifies application specific virtual directory mapping for recorded streams.   -->
           <Streams>/;<root_install>/applications/vod/sources/_definst_/</Streams>
                        </VirtualDirectory>
    </StreamManager>
    This should solve your problem. The main.asc is fine.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Can I stream from my iPhone to apple tv by bluetooth

    can I stream from my iPhone to apple tv by bluetooth
    We have a new SONY BRAVIA 32" in our RV how can I stream directly from my Iphone or ipad direct to the TV via Bluetooth?

    No you cannot.  The only Blutooth support for the ATV is keyboards.
    AirPlay requires the ATV and source (iPhone/iPad/computer) be on the same network, wired or wireless.

  • Streaming From A Desktop

    I've been searching for an answer online, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
    I have Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 installed and running, using a USB web cam as a source.
    Simply put, is it possible to stream from a local desktop machine? Every tutorial refers to downloading an XML config file, allowing you to stream to a service such as justin.tv.  But that's now what I want to do!
    In the past I used a Microsoft utility to stream video and audio from my desktop.  Does Flash Media Live Encoder allow you to do this?  Do I need to run a web server like IIS?  And why can't I find a version of Flash Media Server to download?
    I can create an HTML page with the code to display the video stream, using this utility:
    http://www.osmf.org/configurator/fmp/#
    But I'm still missing how to setup and configure a server, of some sort.
    Thank you.

    Hi,

  • RTP streaming from local file

    I've a problem with JMF, in particular when I transmit a stream from a local file updated from receveing process. The file is "uLaw 8Khz, 8Bit".
    It would seem that when the processor is running is made of a photo of current file size; this implies that is sent only part of the file accessed. The rest of the file is discarded and JMF raises the event EndOfStream.
    Here's the source:
                   // encoding = ULAW, sampleRate = 8000.0Hz, sampleSizeInBits = 8bit, channels = mono(1) or stereo(2)

  • Stream from File - Workflow Inquiry

    Greetings all,
    In short I am trying to stream from file. By this I mean a solution where the user views the streaming video as something like "http://stream.somesite.com" and not "http://stream.somesite.com/vod/vmp4:video1(and then video2, and then video3)"
    The goal is to seamlessly update the playlist of files (remove/re-order/append) that is being streamed in the background so to the end-user it's just one continuous live stream. You could equate it to watching TV, actually.
    The reason I am asking is that software like Flash media Encoder can only play from live sources like capture cards, screen capture software, or webcameras, and then software like Flash Media Streaming Server 4.0 can only play from specific files directly. While you can stream from an XML playlist, I want all the viewers to be watching from the same point and not be able to prematurely change the video.
    This setup is best seen in popular site like Justin.tv and livestream. The key differences I am looking for is to stream from pre-encoded files (MP4(H264/AAC)) in an effort to keep the quality as high as possible.
    Can someone help me out?
    My Current Setup:
    A Box running Windows server 2008 R2 with IIS7.0 installed and configured for H264 HTTP-Pseudo streaming. See:http://h264.code-shop.com/tracListening on Port 8080
    Same box running Flash Media Streaming Server 4.0 with "httpproxy" set to the IIS7.0 server.Listening on Port 80 and 1392(?)(the rtmp one...)

    I like the looks of the play2 command and thus the adobe extended dynamic streaming class from here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/tool_downloads/
    The main goals are to give the end user seamless viewing of the playlist, to obfusicate the files themselves for security, and to control the playlist on the backend when needed. My original idea did all this by controlling everything on the server side and only letting the user see the end continuous stream.
    I am looking into actionscript now, but am curious as to how it works. It's not something you can just place in the an hmtl file, like javascript or php, right?
    It seems you compile actionscript into .swfs using Flash CS4 Pro, and then call them using javascript and such? Confused. :/
    What methods are available for file security on the flash server? I have read an article from the JW player people here http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player/48/securing-content-protect-your-video#Serv er_Side and it seems you need to implement the security on the bundled Apache 2.2. server rather than the flash server itself. The current method I am focusing on is the temporary URL generation. Something like "http://server.com/as9d86a/video1.mp4" instead of "http://server.com/path/to/real/file/video1.mp4" where the temp URL will timeout when the file finishes playing. That way only 1 file is available for the user to stream from at any one time. Then when the current video ends a new url is generated for the next video and delivered to the flash player.
    In that reguard I currently have my eye on implementing mod_auth_token seen here: http://code.google.com/p/mod-auth-token/
    What are people opinion on this?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Live Streaming from Video File

    Hi everyone,,, im newbie in programming streaming video with flash....ater reading documentations i tried the instructions on doc, i got a question that i've not been solved. How to make a "live streaming" from "video file". It likes a live streaming from camera but it uses video file  as the source.... many thanks

    Do you mean you have video file but you want to publish it as live stream , am i right? If yes following is the solution, but before that let me clarify you will need server to do it , i mean there is no way Flash client (i.e. .swf file running in Flash Player) can publish file from local disk.
    Now let me tell you how to do it from server:
    Place your video file under "streams" folder of your application i.e. say "myVideo.flv" under  <FMS root>/applications/myApp/streams/_definst_
    Now write following code in your main.asc file (this file would be under <FMS root>/applications/myApp )
    var mystream;
    application.onAppStart = function(){
         mystream = Stream.get("livestream");
         mystream.play("myVideo",0,-1,true);
    This will publish "myVideo" file as live stream under name of "livestream". Client would have to subscriber using NetStream and
    use ns.play("livestream",-1,-1)
    You might have to write some extra code if you want to loop same file else once play of recorded file gets over , live publish will automatically stop.
    let me know if this solves your problem

  • Why is my ipad2 not buffering videos streaming from web as quickly as it can play them and keep making my videos stop playing?

    When I try watching videos streaming from itunes or u tube or any streaming source the ipad2 does not buffer the videos as fast as they are being played. This makes the videos stop playing within a few seconds after they start and I have to continuously hit the play button to watch videos in bits and pieces. This makes the streaming of videos on this device virtually impossible.

    You may be having some problem in your local network or your internet connection is not fast enough to properly stream the videos.
    What type of internet connection are you using (cable, DSL, etc?)
    What sort of local network do you have? router make/model, etc.
    What other traffic is on your network?
