The never-ending iWeb issues...

So I've officially had it up to the back teeth with iWeb screwing up my website....
I'm constantly getting the error message:
"iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again"
I am connected, so I'm completely baffled and annoyed by this. I totally reloaded my site last weekend, it took ages as it's a podcast site with a fair amount of audio. I hoped by doing the "Publish All to MobileMe" that'd it'd refresh everything and I'd have no more hassles updating. Wrong.
I've followed the advice of this site:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7751904#7751904
and opened an iDisk window in Finder first, that doesn't work.
I've reverted to uploaded the updated files to my iDisk via Transmit, but that's a serious pain in the butt and a time waster. iWeb is meant to do it automatically and "1-click", but iWeb and MobileMe seems to be just serious pieces of crap at the moment. Yay, they've given us three months free subscription, I don't care! I'd rather it just worked. Isn't that meant to be Apple's motto? It just works!
I'm already ticked that I have to convert my mp3's to VBR files to stop the OCD iWeb compulsively converting them to .mov's. It strikes me that Apple just seriously doesn't give a stuff at the moment.
So.... When will iWeb and MobileMe "Just Work" again? When will posting my podcasts be simple again?
Anyone else having repetitive issues with this that other 'fixes' don't resolve?

Try the fix reported in this article. Even though it's for an email problem it helped others in publishing:

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.
Log into another account on your Mac, log into your MobileMe account via the System/MobileMe preference pane, open iWeb and create a small test site and try to publish it. Report back on the success or lack thereof.

  • The never ending Connecting to ISP mesage-but never happens

For the last week I have had no problems with my Extreme base station which connects through Dial up and is extendeded by a Airport Express station to provide coverage to several of my families laptops. Today - I asked airport to connect like always (I dont have it configured for automatic dial) and while it began dialing like normal got stuck on the message connecting to ISP. Needless to say I have tried everything including resetting it, (which by the way is the only way I can stop the connecting to ISP message on Internet Connect) I have disconnected and turning every computer off as well as the express station and physically I reset the base station via paper clip and used the Airport assistant to set the base station up like new - but no dice. Everytime it dials (and I have actually picked up the phone to listen) it makes the call but when the message Connecting to ISP is displayed the phone goes silent and the computer is stuck displaying the scrolling message that it is connecting to the ISP. But NADA! Do you think my ISP or phone company changed something??? Could it be new firmare or airport software taking effect? Man if you have any ideas - please help.

Well I got ahold of (AppleCare) - more specifically - Sean in Austin - a product specialist who took me through - tons of stuff annnnd - NADA - had to escalate it to engineering who probably won't be able to answer until Thursday. Interestingly we were able to hook up to a Apple Server without a problem but my ISP still gives the never ending "Connecting to ISP" message - later I called my ISP and they said if your able to connect the computer to there ISP but not the router - then it isnt there problem - its Apple.
STUCK till Thursday without my EXTREME! REAK

If I try to rotate a photo in the Finder menu I get the never ending spinning color wheel?

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

  • SOLUTION for the never ending reboot loop when charging

I used my iPad until the battery was completely flat, then when I went to charge it, it got stuck in the never ending reboot loop where it shows the Apple logo for about 30 seconds, then shows the home screen for a split second before shutting down and repeating the whole process again and again.
So here's what you need to do to fix this problem without having to restore or plug into iTunes.
    1. Plug in the charger
    2. When the Apple logo appears, unplug the charger
    3. As soon as you see the home screen appear, plug the charger back in. You need to do this quickly as the home screen only shows for a split second
    4. The loading wheel should appear and shut down the iPad
    5. Leave the iPad for a good 30mins or so just to get some battery life into before you start using it again.
    And that's it!

  • QMaster and the never ending encode

I've exported a QT file (not self-contained), set up my QMaster successfully (I've run several with no problems). I've set it up with 4 instances, although I've tried as many as 7. Drop it in Compressor 3.0.5, submit and select my cluster I've created. It begins rendering like a champ. Then, right near the end, one of the segments just takes forever. It basically freezes as the time slowly goes up. I've tried fewer cores, more cores, etc. It's always the last one that freezes. It's driving me freaking nuts.
I've trashed my prefs, ran disc utility, reset background processing in compressor and trashed a couple qmaster folders (sorry, I can't remember where they are, I was following advice given in a post). All to no avail. I've not re-installed compressor yet.

Reinstalling the applications is almost aways a waste of time. There's rarely anything wrong with the software, it's almost always user error or mechanical issues. In your case, the obvious first debug step would be export self-contained and see what happens. It is a safe guess—from where I'm sitting—that your bad segment is the problem. I'm betting it's got several layers, several effects, requires transcoding, or is a .motn file.

  • How do you fix the never ending loop with Itunes authorization process??

Every time I try to Sync my Iphone, an itunes popup shows up claiming that my computer is no longer authorized for the apps on my phone. On the pop up it gives three options to choose from: "Cancel", "Authorize", and "Don't Authorize". If I choose authorize, it asks me to put in my apple ID and password. Now right here confuses me because when that pops up, it show's a very old email that hasn't been used with itunes in atleast over a year (most likely longer). On an offside note, with my phone I understand a bit of why the email popups with my Iphone because I used to use the email until I got my own apple ID. But now when I try to Sync my girlfriends ipod, which has never come into contact with the email, it shows the same email. Anyway, I change the email to my current one and type in my password and click on "Authorize". Then comes the final pop up telling me "This computer is already authorized. Includin this one, you have authorized one computer out of your available 5." and then gives me the option "OK". I click OK and and the process repeats itself.
Here is a picture of the first popup.
I'm new to this so I don't really know if I need to blur anything out but this is it.
This is the second popup. This first pictures shows what it looks like at first and the second is me putting in my information.
Then the third popup after I click "Authorize"
and of course after this it repeats itself.
I have tried authorizing the computer under the itunes store tab but then it says its already authorized. I don't know how to fix this and it's been a pain for over a month. I heard someone else in my family had the same problem and it just randomly went away after certain amount of time, which I don't get. Any help is gladly accepted.
    Also Merry Christmas

    A few more details....
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • IOS and Activesync mail Exchange (the never ending story)

    Hi All,
And here we go again: even with the update 8.1.3 Mail with Exchange ActiveSync stopped working.
The problem occurs now in every update from 8.0 (and even with upgrades version 7.x). For each upgrade of IOS email and activesync stop working, not only in push mode but also in scheduled mode (eg every 15 minutes). The email does not update until I access mail app.
The Exchange Server does not change for years, and the solution must be provided on IOS from Apple and not from Microsoft Exchange Server since the problem occurs only on IOS and only after updates of iOS. This story is really frustrating. No Android or Microsoft Phone has never had this problem. I begin to think that changing phone is the only alternative.
I do not want to buy paid app to use the e-mail, a feature that should work perfectly with the default tools of a smartphone device from 729 EUR.

I posted this another another topic. Anyone have any clue?
Well, here's a new twist. I purchased the Academic Edition of Aperture 1.0 DIRECTLY from Apple and when the rebate was announced, I applied for it. A couple of weeks later I received a letter stating that my serial number "cannot be read, is incomplete, or was not recognized as a valid serial number". OK, my penmanship isn't the best, so I sent them one of the Aperture Software Coupons with one of the serial number stickers attached to it thinking that this would surely be sufficient proof of ownership. Today, I received the same letter again. I just got off the phone with their help desk and all they could tell me was that my serial number isn't eligible for the rebate with no reason why. When I spoke with the supervisor, they stated they don't have access to that information, only that it comes up as ineligible.
Did I miss something? Were there qualifications to the rebate that I overlooked? As a PC user trying to make the switch, this kind of customer service dosen't bode well.
(I understand that Apple doesn't allow the free exchange of information on these boards so the moderators will probably delete this post fairly quickly. If you have some insight, you can email me at davedotmelvinatgmaildotcom)

  • How can I solve the never ending sync since updating to ios5?

I'm running Lion and when I upgraded my iPone 3GS to iOS5 I can no longer sync.  It freezes with the message "Waiting for sync to start".

I was stuck at that same message through three iOS restore cycles.
I just got off the phone with Apple Support and resolved my issue. It just needed a re-installation of iTunes.
My case is with Windows and iPhone 4, though. Good luck.

  • Safari and the never ending spinner

I ran into a Safari spinner issue today. I was able to access a site via FF but Safari was just spinning. The site was https and a site that I had accessed months ago in Safari but had since changed IP addresses. I tried to reset Safari and I did a
    dscacheutil -flushcache
    Still just a spinner.
Then I tried https://urlofsite.com/login, still spinner, so I clicked the stop button, manually edited the url to take off everything but https://urlofsite.com/ then hit return and presto, the confirm dialog for the certificate came up and I was on my way.
Turns out Safari was displaying the spinner and thought it was displaying the drop down certificate confirmation dialog, the one that animates out of the window header bar, but it wasn't there and the only way to get it to come up was to follow the steps above.
    Weird stuff.
I hope this helps others with similar issues

    - other macos apps seems to have troubles reaching https site (gmail notifier for instance)
    - I can't reach https websites at work where I'm behind a Squid http proxy.

  • The never ending BT contract............

I am too frightened to sneeze these days just in case it means I need to agree to a new 12 month contract with BT.......
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    My approach is:-
Don't sign up for anything that requires a 12 month contract, even if it ends up adding a few pounds to the bill in the short term.
Wait until I'm out of contract for everything.
Phone up Customer Options, tell them that BT are too expensive, and I want a better deal.
That gives me a single 12 month contract, with a clear end date.  In the event that Customer Options don't offer a good enough deal, I can leave straight away with no penalty charges.

  • The never-ending search for right 7D import/export settings

    Hey all,
When it comes to technical specs, I'm still learning when it comes to HDSLR footage.
So I'm STILL looking for the right settings for my video to look smooth and crisp. It's gotten better as I've experimented with a few different settings.... but by the time I export out of FCP7 it's still not even as sharp as it looks on the lcd of the 7D. At times it looks like crap. So, I need a tad bit of help. I'm sure I'm still doing something(s) terribly wrong.
So, here's a run-down of my settings from beginning to end.
    IN CAMERA
    Shooting 720p 60fps
    IMPORT
Bringing onto external with CF card reader
    CONVERT
Converting 7D movie files with MPEG streamclip
For compression, I choose Apple ProRes 422 HQ, set quality at 100%, frame size at 1280x720 and I un-check interlaced Scaling
    IMPORT
I import these transcoded files into FCP7
    EXPORT
    For best quality, I:
Export to Quicktime move --> ProRes HQ 1280x720 60p
    For HD YouTube upload, I:
    Export to QuickTime Conversion:
    Video Settings --> H.264
Key Frames every --> 24 frames
    Data rate restrict to --> 3500 kb/sec
    Optimize for --> download
    Size --> 1280x720 HD
Prepare for Internet Streaming --> Fast start
So, what newbie mistake am I making here? What should I change?

That's because using Cmd+J for doing slow motion on 720p60 is the wrong way to go about it.
Log & Transfer your 720p60 clips as ProRes 422. Open the .mov files in Cinema Tools and conform them to 720p30 or 720p24.

  • The never ending spotlight indexing

I upgraded to Snow Leopard three days ago and have a problem that spotlight indexing never seem to stop. There are regular spikes in processor usage caused by the two processes "mds" and "mdsworker32" (the can be up to 80% of CPU usage), causing the fans on my MBP to run way too often (it's starting to get quite annoying).
I've tried to fix this by turning of indexing for the whole disk and then turn it on again, but this doesn't seem to help. I've let the computer be turned on since I installed SL but it just continues.
I've tried to find a way to see how far the indexing has progressed but the hints I've found online doesn't see to work (hover over the spotlight icon in the menubar to see a tooltip).
I'm getting quite desperate and would really appreciate if someone could help me fix this.
    I'm using a 2.33 GHz MBP with 10.6 (installed over a 10.5.8 installation). I've got 120 GB disk with approx 22GB free, I'm running as a non-privileged user.
Any idea what could be causing this?

    Carolyn Samit wrote:
    delete the Spotlight preference file.
    com.apple.spotlight.plist
    /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences.
I'll do that. But I don't believe this would help. Because on my machine are five user accounts and non of them has a working Spotlight index. So I think there's something wrong in outside one of the user accounts.
Also... could you please click My Settings on the right side of this page and tell us which Mac you have and select 10.6. Thank you.
    Done.

  • The Never-Ending Dishwasher Saga

These are two posts I originally posted to Best Buy's facebook page. One on July 7th and today July 14th. Please read on,...its CRAZY!
Ok people, so get this. I ordered a dishwasher May 21st with delivery scheduled May 27th. It’s now July 7th. They rescheduled several times but this time, no call, no message and No dishwasher.
    Nice.
Also, it’s been charged to my Best Buy credit card. Really? They expect me to pay for something that doesn’t exist…at least not in my home where it should of been by now. I’m not sure they can legally bill me for this dishwasher since I don’t have possession of it. Whatever the case, I’m going to cancel this order. There was a time a business would do everything they could to keep and earn your business. They respected the consumer. This is obviously NOT the case with Best Buy any more.
I intend to cancel my Best Buy account once the balance is paid off. I will also never shop there again and I will encourage my friends and family to do the same. I will not shop Best Buy online either, listings on eBay or Amazon included. Even if they have a better price, I’d rather pay MORE and actually get the item I purchased.
I admit, it’s a crazy concept. As far as I’m concerned Best Buy has failed miserably on what should of been a very simple transaction and delivery process and I guess it’s now my job ( so I can waste my money AND my time ) to track them down & this dishwasher ( sit on hold for 20 – 30 minutes ) not the other way around. They should be calling me to apologize and doing whatever they can to right this wrong situation, although at this point – what’s it matter.? Any confidence I ever had with Best Buy is shot. This demonstrates to me 100% lack of respect for me and the business I brought to them and this should speak volumes to you, because you could easily be the one writing this. I didn’t have to buy from them, and I won’t make that mistake again that’s for sure. When a business like this show’s no respect for the consumer it’s time to take your money and business elsewhere.
Thanks for your time & for reading this.
And now today July 14th I posted the following. We gave Best Buy ONE MORE chance to come thru and deliver this dishwasher. It never happened. So,....
I posted about a dishwasher I purchased from Best Buy on May 21st that was supposed to be delivered on May 27th. Well, they delayed and changed the date for delivery several times – then said NOTHING for several weeks – and I had to track the dishwasher down. I got half hearted sorry’s and assured it would be delivered ASAP which was July 16th.
And then, today I get this in my email:
“We have rescheduled the appointment of your item(s) below.
Your new appointment is Monday, August 10, 2015.
Sincerely, Pedram Afshar Vice President, Customer Experience”
They might as well of sent a message that said “WE DON’T WANT YOUR BUSINESS, EVER!"
Now keep in mind – like I said – this order happened MAY 21st!!!! This earns Best Buy a call tomorrow to the BBB for starters. Then I’m going to alert my local TV stations consumer reporters. Then I am going to hit as many blogs as I can reach and share this story. I thought I was annoyed before. I’m past disgusted. This is a flat out INSULT to me the consumer. I will repeat, there is no way I will ever shop at Best Buy ever again and encourage everyone reading this to exercise extreme caution if you chose to shop there. This company has lost 100% of my confidence by dropping the ball too many times to count.
Personally, I think I’m owed a written apology from Pedram Afshar along with a free dishwasher! BUT since they can’t deliver one I purchased I won’t hold my breath on that ever happening. The stores manager, district manager and Pedram Afshar should personally install the thing too!
I mean, am I nuts – or is this completely unacceptable in every sense of the word? I should of NEVER given them so many chances – literally this is at least the 8th maybe 9th time they dropped the ball. It is now my mission in life to make everyone aware of this situation. My question. What are you going to do about this Best Buy? What ever the response I hope you have the courage to be visible with your reply. You not only owe me that much but I think if consumers read about this, they will want to know how your company handles matters like this.
Thank you for reading this. PLEASE use caution if you actually decide to shop at Best Buy. If you have had a situation like this or worse please share.

I just wanted to add that I also plan to call in to Tom Martino's consumer protection radio show ( in the Denver area ) and alert him and his listeners of this. If you knew me, you'd know I'm serious. Hell, I'm disabled at the moment and I have time to kill - BTW the Best Buy I purchased the alleged and elusive dishwasher was in Littleton Colorado, on Wadsworth.
