if presentation server is not starting then you need to look in sawaerver.log and for opmn look in opmn.log not in weblogic logs

Unable to start presentation services in obiee 10g

Hi,
Everythig is fine untill I restart the machine. I havent done any changes before restarting my mahcine. Once restarted the presenttion services are not starting.
Error: "Windows could not start BI Presentation server on local computer.For more information,review the system event log.if this is non-microsoft service,contact the service vendor, and refer to service specific error code-1".
I have checked instanceconfig.xml and catalog folders, paths, rpd etc.. But no use.
sawlog file give me the error:
Allocation of SQLEnvironment failed (SQLError: -1). Please ensure that the odbc driver is in your environment path.
How to resove it..

Need few checks from your side:
1) Start BI Server and open RPD line mode, if you able to open then check instanceconfig file to make sure the tag is
<DSN>AnalyticsWeb</DSN> is matching with ODBC dsn for 'Oracle BI Server'
If this looks good then
2) use different name for tag CatalogPath from instanceconfig file and start the Presentation service
let us know updates
Make sure you have this in path Drive:\OracleBI\server\Bin

Hi Andy,
First of all,rpd should be in synchronization with the database in order to get the data.
So,you need to create ODBC as in the earlier reply.
than you need to give the details of odbc in connection pool of rpd.
than test the connection by rightclick on table in physical layer and click update row count option if your table gets updated then you will make sure that your rpd is in sync with database.

Follow the steps below:
1.Shutdown all OBIEE services.
2.Replace the files sawguidstate and sawguidstate.atrin the location:
<Instance_Home>\instances\<instance_name>\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\catalog\<project>\root\system\mktgcache\<name>
with the same files from a backup or from another working instance.
3.Restart all OBIEE services.

In Admin Console We are unable to start Managed Server.

We are using Weblogic 10.3.1.0 version.
Totaly 4 Managed Severs
1 Admin Server
with Nodemanger.
In Admin Console When ever we going to Stop the Manged Servers.
1. Environment ----- > Servers ---- > Control ----------- > Mananged Server 1 -----------> Force shutdown
2. Then click refresh button ---- showing "FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE"
3. after that when ever we going to start the Managed Server in Admin console
First its Showing ----- Starting
and next its showing ----- FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE
4. its not coming to Running State.

Unable to start directory server

We are getting error when starting directory server :
Recovery will take a while

The logs should contain more detailed information.

Hi,
When I try o run my ADF-BC application in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 I get the following error,

Starting dispatcher server ....Failed to create logfile:

On a test machine we filled the var partition. Now we get the following error when attempting to start-msg
Starting dispatcher server ....Failed to create logfile: No space left on device
The partition has been clear off and has lots of free space. but still bet the above error.

Hi,
You may also want to run ./imsimta cnbuild;./imsimta restart. I have seen cases where full filesystems has lead to corruption of the MTA configuration database -- which lead to all sorts of mess.
And if all that fails, you may want to truss the startup and see what file it tried to create/access when it reported that error.

Hi,
If you see your logs, you server has actually started in "RUNNING" mode. Its only throwing lot of "ClassNotFoundException" because I guess they classes are not available in classpaths. If you know the "jar" which contains which are being complained, copy the jar files to "DOMAIN_HOME/lib" which is simple way to add jars to classpath.

I have configured OIMAuthenticationProvider ( only Default authenticator and OIMAuthenticationProvider are present in Providers ) and its failing to fetch the users from OIMDB. I can see only weblogic user in my Users list in weblogic.

I have executed the above steps. Still its not working . I see the following message in the Users page in weblogic.
This page displays information about each user that has been configured in this security realm.
Note: The authentication provider named OIM Authentication Provider does not support viewing or managing its users through the WebLogic console.
To bring OIM users to weblogic, what all steps i have to execute ? Currently , I have Default Authenticator and OIMAuthenticationProvider in weblogic Providers .

Unable to start Presentation Services- Windows 7

Hi,
I'm unable to start the Presentation Services , when i do so i am getting a message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
Windows 7 ultimate.
All services started like BI server, BI Presentation and Java Host
Installation were successful, able to open Repository.
BI Publisher is also getting started.
I need to look into the Answers, unable to start the Presentation Services, any help is very much appreciated !

Can you past it sawlog0.log message also Make sure below points (just double check and test it)
1) Check your instanceconfig.XML file (better if u have back up plz restore it then change it u r current catalog)
2) In the RPD, go to Manage -> Variables. Look through your initialization blocks and see if any are being used to set the USER variable.
3) make sure if have LDAP settup (external table via init blog)
4) if you can back of your RPD,Catalog restore it then try to access it (for testing) if its works then u r current issue catalog may be corrupted webcat
if your providing sawlog0.log ..it will be easy to find the issues

Unable to start SQL Server Browser service in Sql server 2005

we are unable to start the SQL browser service on one of our machine with below error.
I believe this to be the reason, why we could not connect to the instance with below error
I tried troubleshooting as mentioned here, by changing
value in registry from 1 to 0, but still no luck.
SQLservices are also running.
Please help on how to resolve this!

2012 instance.
Do you have any issues installing/uninstalling SQL Server 2005 or 2012? One of them 32-bit and the other 64-bit?

OBIEE 11g- unable to start application server

Dear All,
I have recently installed OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.6.0 for the first time (enterprise install)
am able to login to anaytics page and create reports, but Iam not able to connect to enterprise manger , console.
Going through various posts, i came to know i should start Application server.
which i was not able to. was getting error as
'unable to get file lock will retry'.
I tried deleting
Navigate to the path : <OBIEE HOME>/C:\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp
“AdminServer.lok” file.
it still did not start
I try doing the same for “bi_server1″ lock file. but am not able to delete this file.
It says its in use. but i did not find any Java process running.
Can you please help. how can i start my Application server on windows OS.

Firstly we have shutdown the application for OS activity for creating mount point(related to Business)
then we where trying to start the application all the work process are running with semaphore 50 , there no such error mesg ,just the work process are hang at running state with user SAPSYS
the i have shutdown the application and clean the ipc and again i restarted the app still the same issue

You probably run the WebLogic once as the super user and are now trying to run it as another.
you could issue a chown or chmod -R 777
Also a remark that provided here: Opening of wallet based credential store failed. Reason java.io.IOException
"It appears the my config/fmwconfig/cwallet.sso file was corrupted, possibly by a previous WebLogic crash. The cwallet.sso file in my fmwconfig directory was only 77bytes, but it should have been larger. I was able to find a previous version of the cwallet.sso file in the /tmp/cred* directories, and restored the file. That allowed me to start up WebLogic, but I had lost some data in cwallet.sso that I needed to re-enter in FMW Control."
