Using an effect/plug-in on several sound files?

Trying out Adobe Audition, but finding a few quirks compared to working with Bias Peak (RIP).
For example, in Waveform mode, it seems effects in the effects rack (AU and VST plug-ins) are directly related to one, and one only, sound file.
In Peak, you could easily have effects applied to any sound file you would open, and it happened automatically. Is something similar possible in Audition? Without saving the effects rack as a preset every time I want to use one or several particular plug-ins on *another* sound file?

Well then, Bias was a bit of a dog. Any software that did things like that automatically would be a bit of a dog, quite frankly. Automatic anything is generally a sign of Mickey-Mousedness in software, and we don't want that at all, thank you. It's almost certainly one of the reasons that Bias is no more, indeed.
But if I'm understanding correctly what you want to do, there's a much better way in Audition anyway. It's called Batch Processing. The idea is that you can take a bunch of files, specify what processing you want to do to them (you have to have saved whatever you want to do as a preset first) and have it applied automatically to all of the files you specify. So if you've got 100 files that you want to normalize to the same level, put them all in a folder, specify the preset, specify a different location and name prefix for the results if you want, press Run and go and have a cup of coffee. When you come back, it will probably all be done and waiting for you.
Thing about Audition is that because it's been used for earning a living by a lot of editors now, for a long time, just about all of the really useful things are already in it, and there's at least one way of doing pretty much anything - when you know how to.

  • Using After Effects plug-ins

I've pointed to my After Effects plug-ins in the Motion preferences, but they don't show up in the filters menu. I've restarted several times, pointed to specific plug-in folders, pointed to AE 6.5 plug-ins and 7.0 plug-ins, Motion doesn't see them.
I think it should. I'm running Motion 2.1.2 on a G5 with 2.5 GB ram.
    Anyone have a solution?

Once again, for anyone else who might stumble upon this question, third-party filters DO NOT show up in the Add Filters area of the Canvas. They show up ONLY in the library. This fact may be of interest, and is not specified on p 793.

  • After Effects will not register any sound files.

Problem - When ever i bring a sound file or any file that contains sound into AE, the sound is non existent.
Below is a link to a image so you can see what i mean
    http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h310/Audard/no_sound.png
As you can see, the wave file has no option to mute the file. I can not use the drop down arrow to view the wave length since the file is empty.
History - Just recently the computer i work on at my workplace was hit with a trojan and we had to do a reformat and install everything again.
Prior to this i had been working on numerous projects that ranged fro 15 secs to 2 mins.
All of these projects used .wav files for sound and in some cases a .mov was present in which i would simply hide the video and have the sound running.
I have tried using every sound or mov file that i had used in the past for projects that worked but the same result keeps appearing.
    PC specs -
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    E8400 @ 3.00 ghz
    3.00ghz, 3.25 gb RAM
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3
    After Effects CS4
Updated : I opened a old project that had a .mov with sound in it and the sound icon was their to mute the .mov.
When i tried to ram preview the following error came up.
    After Effects Debug Event
After Effects has encountered an error
    [..\..\Src\Component\AudioComponentImpl.cpp-92]

All the sound drivers have been installed.
The actual situation has become more strange.
There is another computer that is exactly the same as the one i work on here at work.
It also has the same version of AE CS4 on it and has always worked fine.
Yesterday i was working on it while the other PC was being reformatted and the same problem is happening on it.
Our server at work which stores all our user profiles, client files and so forth went down about about 2 weeks ago and it seems like this might be the reason for AE playing up. Initially we ruled out the server being the cause since we never tested the 2nd computer.

For some reason I thought the Typewriter effect in FCP 6 included a typewriter sound effect. How do I get the typewriter sound for the Typewriter Generator? Thanks.

  • Unable to load/play sound files using SoundEngine_LoadEffect

    Hi All,
I am able to load/play sound files using SoundEngine_LoadBackgroundMusicTrack but unable to load/play sound files using SoundEngine_LoadEffect on iPhone Simulator. I am using the SoundEngine.h/cpp from Crash Landing. Oddly enough sound effects load and play succesffully when i start the app with 'Start with Performance Tool'. Does anyone know what is actually going on.
Also i would like to know what is the difference between playing sound files using these two methods. What are the restrictions on individual sound file types for each method.
    Thanks

I was able to load/run the sound effects after using Simulator - iPhoneOS 2.1 in the Active Target/Build drop down on Xcode toolbar. Both Active SDK, and Active Executable should be 2.1 in order to play the sound effects.

  • Including sound file and browser plug-ins

    Hi,
I've done som PDF:s with included soundfiles. I'm running XP and have the latest Acrobat Reader installed. When opening the docs from the web-site it looks just fine no matter what web-browser is used. The icon to play the sound file is there and the sound plays.
However, I just tested it from the customers Mac and from that machine there was no player button represented. I would be most greatful if someone in this forum has specific knowledge about mini requirements (OS/Browsers/Acrobat version) for those PDF:s to be able to display a play button?
    My best
    Michael

You can't convert to .idml by changing the file extension. You must export the file from the oringal version as a .idml file.
That said, you can use jongware's script to identify the version of the file, even if it won't open: Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
That said, InBooklet SE was part of InDesign CS3, but I see it listed inthe plugins used. I also see a number of what look like third-party plugins listed, and that may be the problem. What's happening when you try to open the file?

  • Adding sound file to acrbat 5

I am using Acrobat 5. How do I add a sound file (preferably .mp3) to my file? I created the file in FrameMaker 7.1, which allows me to link to the file only. I have several hyperlinks that I have created in FrameMaker, that comes over to acrobat, but the sound files do not.  I would like to add several sound files to the .pdf that I have created. If necessary, I can convert the sound file to another format, but I would prefer to use the current .mp3 format. PS I know both Acrobat 5 and FrameMaker  7.1 are NOT the latest versions, however upgrading either software in not an option at this time. I am attaching 1 page of the file.

I don't think you can have the file embedded into the PDF using this version, but you can probably add it as an attachment, if that's what you want to do.
Open the Attachments panel and see if you can add it there.

  • Simple Sound Files

I bought my first Macintosh in 1985 and have been using them ever since. In those early days, one just plugged in a microphone to the Mac and recorded a voice sound file. The sound file was played back in a program called Simple Sound. It was all very simple... not so today.
I have a sound file my grand daughter made for me fifteen years ago. It simply says "I love you PaPa". This sound file has been in my Startup Items for over a decade and every time I start up my Mac I hear it. Since using iTunes from the first version, the sound file would play in iTunes every time the Mac started, until now that I have iTunes 6. The sound will no longer play in iTunes. I can't import it. The only way the sound will play is if I select it in the Finder and a "Play Sound" button appears. It seems to play from the Finder.
So, what hoops do I have to jump through to hear the sound of my grand daughters love for me whenever I turn on my Mac?

    Kevin--
Try Sound Studio. If that doesn't work, copy this AppleScript into the Script Editor application in the "AppleScript" folder from your "Applicatons" folder:on open fileList
    repeat with theItem in fileList
    tell application "Finder"
set theName to the name of theItem
set theCreator to creator type of theItem
set theType to file type of theItem
    display dialog "File: " & theName & return & "Creator: " & theCreator & return & "Type: " & theType
    end tell
    end repeat
end openSave it somewhere on your hard drive as an application. Now, drag the sound file onto the application you just made, make a note of what the applet says for the Type and Creator, and post them here.
    best,

  • How do I get a handle on embedded sound files?

From the Sound Class information, it says to use the SoundMixer Class to handle embedded Sound Files.  I have two sound files embedded, that I have setup in 2 separate layers, starting at frame one in the main timeline.  I needed to do this so I could see the wave files, and coordinate text with the waves.  I do not want to load these files into the .swf file at runtime using URLRequest.  How do I get a handle on those as they exist, to make each controllable by separate volume and mute controls for each sound?
This will be a challenging question, because, "it can't be done" doesn't work for me.  I managed to create a way to use an external classfile to control the main timeline, the ROOT timeline, without having to create a sub movie to root.  I can use my component to call play(); as though it were in code in a frame.  But it isn't, it's in an external classfile.  I passed root to the classfile and told the classfile to think of it as a movieclip - that put the handle on it.  I tried similar way with root as a Sound, but that isn't detailed enough - I need to get a handle on the frame that contains the embedded sound file.  I embedded, attached it, using the properties view for the frame.
I've attached, or whatever you want to call it, these sound files to a frame, and this frame is or should be attached to the layer I've created.  So, under the assumption that the ROOT has everything attached to it in some manner (it is after all the foundation for the COM), the stage of the root contains the visual components, so ROOT has to have the layer objects attached to it, which should have the frame objects attached to the layers.  I have two layers that each have a .wav file attached to frame one.  Somehow Flash keeps track of that - I want to know how Flash does it so I can read what flash reads.
If this seems redundant, it probably is.  I want to paint the best picture I know how so I can get detailed feedback.  Please, if you have questions ask them so we can clarify, and get this resolved!  Thanks for reading!

    lol.
ok, it can be done.  keep working on it.

  • How do I transfer a sound file via TCP?

I have a .wav file that I'm trying transfer via TCP.  Using LV 8.5, I modified the "Sound File to Output.vi" example to send the data across a TCP connection to a client vi.  But, I've encountered numerous errors along the way with trying to convert the sound data which is a  1-D array of waveform double.  I've attached my server and client VI, but essentially, what I tried to do is break down the array into the y and dt components, send those over the TCP connection, rebuild the waveform client-side, and then play the waveform.  Is there something I'm missing?  Do I need the timestamp information as well and send that over too?  Please let me know how this can be accomplished.  Thanks!
    Attachments:
    Streaming Music - Server.vi ‏97 KB
    Streaming Music - Client.vi ‏65 KB

One thing to clarify: While the Sound Output Write does not need the dt information, the dt information wouold be required when you use the Configure VI in order to set up the rate.  However, you only need to send that parameter once. Thus, it would seem to me that you want to change your client code so that it checks to see if it receives a special command or something to indicate the start of a new song that may have been sampled at a different rate. If this is the case, then you can reconfigure the sound output. Otherwise, all that you're listening for is just song data that you send along to the Sound Output Write.

  • How to make the life easier when sound file may be changed in future?

    Hello, friends,
I have about 600 sound files (total about 10MB), which will
be used by thousands of .swf files. Each .swf file may use only a
few of those 600 sound files.
I know I can load those sound files into each .swf as needed.
However, since those sound files may be changed or modified in
future, I may have to modified each .swf file to reload the
new/modified sound file then. This would be VERY painful.
Any better methods? Any sample source code or reference
    papers?
Thanks a lot for your help.

The obviuos solution would be that you just replace the old
(say) "crash.mp3" with the new "crash.mp3" and that's it.
The more sophisticated way would be to store someting in xml

  • GarageBand (4.1.2) only allows 1 software track using Korg MicroStation Plug-in Editor as software sound generator.

I'm using a Korg Microstation with GarageBand (4.1.2,2008), and installed the included plug-in editor to create software-based tracks per instructions. The first (default, grant piano) track allows me to select the Korg Microstation as the sound generator for the track, enabling access to all the Korg sounds: information is properly transmitted and loaded from the Korg into GB. However, no additional tracks can be created in the GB file; attempts to do so trigger the following 2 messages: 1) Failed to load Audio Unit, please contact the manufacturer for an updated version or further assistance. (-10110), followed by: 2) Failed initializing the plug-in. Please check your instrument library and make sure it contains the right factory presets.   I've tried just duplicating the first track, but this brings up the same messages.  To summarize: I am unable to create more than 1 track in a GB file using the Korg Plug-in editor as the sound generator. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who' encountered this problem!

    Update for GarageBand v6.0.5
I used a Korg Microstation and recorded midi to a track in garageband (made edits, etc) and then output the midi back to the Korg again via the supplied VST.
I then created a real instrument track to record the results from via audio inputs.
The best thing with the Korg Microstation is that you can create Zones on the keyboard to use different instruments.

The error message "No more virtual tiles can be allocated" appears when I try to use the effects in the quick editing mode in my Elements 13. The baton OK has to be pressed several times for loading all effect patterns. The error returns when selecting the particular pattern.
The problem does not appear, if PH Elements 13 is executed in the administrator mode.
The available computer resources are rather  large enough: CPU INTEL i7 4 cores,  16GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 32GB SSD, Windows 8.1.
Please, advice how to solve this problem? Maybe, there is patch or updating available?

    Dear n_pane,
Thank you for the quick answer. In the meantime I found other way to pass by the problem. I increased the cache level up to the maximum value 8.
The errors reported as "No more virtual tiles can be allocated" vanish, but I still do not understand, why PSE 13 cannot work properly by the lower cache levels, having available maximum resources it needed (10443 MB RAM and 26.53GB SSD space for scratches), or cannot collaborate with the fast SSDs properly.
I wish you all the best in the New Year 2015!

Yes - I have restarted Adobe as well as the PC. I have double checked this settings on other Acrobat installations. All show exactly the same problems.
Unchecking “Use Only Certified Plug-Ins” has no effect. “Certified Mode” shows always YES.
Is this by design? Is this a bug?
