Variant as Input VI terminal

Hi fellow developers,
I want to ask if anyone knows how to connect a variant as a connector terminal for my SubVI? I can't find a variant control at the moment.
I have used variant to data and unflatten to string and no Refnum for my SubVI.
Can anyone enlighten me?

At times when I'm not able to locate any specific control/indicator, I prefer to right click the function block (node) on the block diagram and select 'Create' >> 'Control' (or 'Indicator')...

Not sure if it is relevant but I noticed that when I try to do "space+shift"

Problem: Sometimes continuously repeating keyboard input in Terminal or TextEdit

Hello, I got a problem after upgrading to Lion. When I type something into for example the Terminal app (or iTerm2) or into text editors like TextEdit, TextMate or MacVim all of a sudden the system keeps repeating the last key press.
For example I am pressing "g" and and the system keeps repeating this key and entering "ggggggggggggggggggggggggg..." and so on.
This can happen with any key, for example cursor up / down, enter or backspace.
I am using a 2008 MacBook Pro and an external USB Apple Keyboard (Layout: English / International) and Lion 10.7.4. So far these problems have only occured when I am typing on the external USB keyboard and not the build in keyboard.

Resetting all keyboard shortcuts to default so far has helped greatly. The only place where I was able to reproduce this problem now was in TextMate when I am pressing and holding cursor left or right.
And maybe I am imagining things, but scrolling and text input feels a little smoother now.

Time varying velocity input for servo motor

I 'm running a PXI-8145RT CPU with a 7344 motion controller.I want to load a time varying velocity profile for my servo motor.How can I do this? The "load velocity" tile does not have an input for such a profile,but only for a maximum velocity that will be reached after a certain time.

Are you using the Motion Assistant or a programming language like LabVIEW? If you are using the motion assistant, you can do a contoured move with a Position-Velocity-Time Profile. I have never done this, but it sounds to be what you are looking for. This assumes that you have a controller that can do contoured moves.

ECATT - How use external file/new variant for input data

Good day,
I want to use an eCATT created by someone else for another request. I want to be able to specify my new input data based on the new request WITHOUT generating a new Transport. Same thing as I'm doing for the CATT ... the CATT is transported but only the input data change depending on the request without generating any transport.
How I build my new input file and how to use it? I tried to download my variant but the only possible format is XML and it's very hard to build a new file based on my request.

Hi,
Can you tell me how you are generating the xml file. My guess is you are downloading the Test Script/ Test Configuration. In that case it creates an xml file.
As mentioned by Ajay, In Test Configurator / Test Data - you can create the internal variant first, i.e assuming you have already created parameters.. On the top, you have a download button "Download Variant". This creates a .txt file. You can open the file in excell and edit it.
For the next test, you can select external variant and give the modified file path name.

Passing input to Terminal from app

Hi, i'm pretty new to Objective-C and I was wondering how one could open the Terminal and send it commands from a Foundation Tool or Cocoa App.
I did a bit of research and found some useful example code on stackoverflow.com:

Now, those lines of code only launch the tasks in the background and flush it's output to the Console. How could this be modified to actually open the terminal window and make it execute the command composed of the launch path and the arguments? (possibly leaving the Terminal window open after the end of the process)

In my case, that command opens the .sh with TextMate (and in the absence of that, with TextEdit). I could change this by setting the default opening app for my script file to Terminal.app, but would this setting remain for every machine? (the script being located in the project's debug folder)
Another issue is that system command forces an exit:
/Users/...path.../build/Debug/script.sh ; exit;
So in the Terminal, the requested stuff happens followed by a:
logout
[Process completed]
However it's a pretty good idea!

Can I control a stepper motor by a time varying velocity input?

I want to control the motion of the stepper motor by a velocity input that looks something like a Sine wave.The velocity is changing as a function of time. Can I change the velocity of the motor at a prescribed time interval?

Thanks for getting back to me on this. The controller card that I have is the PCI-7342 controller card. The time of a cycle is about seven minutes. I want to ramp the RPM of the motor from zero up to a max value then return it to zero and then go in the opposite direction . A graph of the RPM vs Time is attached.
I thought that I could input an array of velocities into a Load RPM VI and specify the time for each input.I have not been able to do this as of yet, because the load RPM VI will not take an array input.
All these inputs would be made in labview so they are inputs for the controller card. I was under the impression that the controller card generates the steps and direction from the data entered in labview and sends the step and direction impulses to the driver. Do I have the method of operation right?
Do you think this is possible?

Varied adc input to be displayed on a 7 segment display

Hi,
I constructed an ADC (8bit) using LM339 and a variable resistor. I want to have a display on a 7segment using 7490ic and 7447ic by varying the variable resistor. Also, i would like to know or better if instead counting only upwards when the variable resistor is varied or both up and down.
Theoritically, the circuit should work but am having difficulty piecing the ADC to the "display end".

Hi there,
The ground has been added, but not functioning as is supposed to. The objective is to get the 7segment display counting as the varaible resistor is varied. But once the circuit is powered it just reads "7" and doesnt move. I replaced the ADC part with normal switches and it functioned as it was supposed to .

[SOLVED] Single-line input on terminal issue

On my terminal application, if a command I'm typing is too long, it returns to the position 0 of the same line to continue the command. How can I make it instead go to the next line to continue typing?
I am using Bash.

Error: invalid input compilation terminated

I get this error every time I try to publish my app - Any clues. I found a little advice at the following site, but the error seems to be a little different and none of the suggestions seemed to do anything.

Also to note - this is a completely basic application, I haven't added any kind of functionality.

Finally solved this one on my own. Seems as though a manual re-update of 11.0.1, 11.0.2 and the cs5 update for IOS worked this out.

Varying input voltage refrigerator testing application

I am working on an application for refrigerator testing. One of the specs that we need to comply requires that we vary the input voltage, (ex. 127 VAC for a 120 VAC unit) through some sort of voltage regulator. The biggest unit we test has a 2 hp compressor with a max current draw of 18 amps. We would like to know what equipment we would need in order to accomplish this through a LabVIEW application that we are working on. We could do this through GPIB, serial, etc. Any help on this matter will be appreciated.

You might be right. I was think of one small 1.5 HP controller (Commander SE) we are using that is being powered by 1-phase 240 VAC supply. So I was thinking the motor was 1-phase, but actually it does the voltage chopping to create a 3-phase supply to the motor.
It may be possible to still use one where you just use 1 phase relative to ground, but I'm not sure, and I'm not an electrical engineer to be able to tell how to do such a thing. It may be worthwhile to ask them if such a thing can be done. Or look around for some other motor speed controller manufactures that make a 1-phase motor controller.
I'm sorry, but I don't know where else to look or be of any help.

Error 91 - Trying to Use the Variant to Data Function

I am running into a problem when trying to use variants in my application. I have a state machine set-up in that one state creates a task list (cluster of arrays) and then converts it to variant. The variant is fed into a shift register that allows me to access the task list from a different state.
The problem comes when I try to use the Variant to Data function. I right click on the task cluster to create a constant, and then wire that to the TYPE terminal of the Variant to Data Function. I wire the task cluster variant to the VARIANT terminal. When I run the VI, i get error 91: Possible reason(s): LabVIEW: The data type of the variant is not compatible with the data type wired to the type input.".
How can I get this error when the type I wired to the TYPE terminal of the Variant to Data terminal is a constant created from the exact type created a variant from???

what kind of report you want to execute? the report is Executable Report or Modulepool prog. ??
if it is a executable program so when u execute (F8) from SE38 when u find the selection-screen in the menu bar ->Program ->Execute in Background( F9) option exits there u can schedule your report in Background or else use toce SM36 ( Define Background Job).
Why you want to run it in background with transaction code if you have this options?

What is variant in ABAP Program Process Block in Process Chain?

I wrote an ABAP program:
REPORT ZTEST,
PARAMETERS: PROC(80) TYPE C.
I can test this PORGRAM from SE38, it shows me a pop-up screen for PROC and I can enter a value and execute.
Now I want to call this program ZTEST from a process chain. In Process Chain Selected a Process u201CABAP Programu201D. It asks me program name and Program variant, I entered Program Name as ZTEST and
Program variant as a character string HELLO.
When I execute Porcess Chain, ABAP Program errors saying that variant HELLO not found.
What is Program variant in ABAP Program Process in Process Chain?

Dont get confused here.
Variant name is not which you are pasing to the program.
You enter some values inside the variant and you specify the program to take the input from the variant.
Suppose you have to pass 10 parameters to a program.
user1 creates a variant " hello1" which contains his own selection for the 10 values
user2 creates another variant "hello2" which contain his own set of selecion values.
When we use this program in PC, you can use the variant user1 or user2 as per our requirement.
please check if you are giving variant as input or the proc value.

Variant problem - URL command

Hello,
I´m facing a problem when I use a BI 7.0 URL command with a variant.
I created a query with a hierarchy node variable for Cost Center characteristic.
Then I executed the query and saved 2 hierarchies nodes values for the variable in a variant.
When I execute the URL bellow, to call the web template with the saved variant, the input screen
shows me just one value for the hierarchy node.

We are in BW 3.5 SP12 and i think this note is not relevant for this version.
I´m in doubt if i need to set the color values again in URL and also the number of classes.
These parameters were filled in the template definition and i need to rebuild the template with newer breaks values.
Do you have idea if something is missing in the URL or any example ?
