What version of Google chrome is better to use on iMac running Lion

Seem to be having a lot of trouble using Google Chrome on my iMac running OSX Lion 10.7.3.  Each time I use it, I get the message that my profile couldn't be opened.  Then when I try to quit Chrome it causes my computer to freeze and I end up having to force quit.  Often times when I then restart my Mac Chrome just starts automatically.  Should I be using Chrome Beta instead of the standard Chrome?  Are there any other suggestions out there that might help mesolve this problem?  I don't remember ever creating a Google profile so don't undeerstand why I keep getting that message.  I can't seem to figure out where that profile would be in Chrome so that I could sign out of it.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No, you have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first before upgrading any higher. Note that your system does support a higher upgrade, but Snow Leopard is required first.

In your  opinion, should I uninstall Firefox if I am installing Waterfox?
Waterfox can coexist peacefully with Waterfox.  I have both installed, but never use Firefox any more.
Not only can Waterfox run in 64-bit address space, it also is better optimized during compile time than Firefox.  (For obvious reasons; Firefox is compatible with many old systems, Waterfox only needs to be compatible with new 64-bit systems.)
P.S. regarding Chris' advice above; Firefox and Waterfox use the same profile, so if that is actually the problem, then it will occur in both browsers.

Yes, exactly, which is why I asked several posts back... what version of Outlook are you using". We ask questions for good reasons.
You will need DM version 4.2 Service Pack for Outlook 2000.
OR, upgrade the Outlook to 2003 or better and use DM 4.7

  • How to tell what version of Acrobat or Reader was last used to save a PDF

How can I tell what version of Acrobat or Reader was last used to save a PDF file? My users are using fillable forms from grants.gov. We want them to use Adobe Reader 8.1.3 to fill these forms, but some accidentally use the Pro version of Acrobat. They need this to make PDFs from Word & other apps, but Pro will corrupt the fillable forms.
When I open a saved form in Reader 8.1.3 and click File > Properties it says Acrobat 7.x even though I know it was saved with 8.1.3.
Is there a way to know which version number and type (Reader or Pro) last saved a PDF?

But it won't tell you what was used last. It just gives the original information.
It also won't differentiate between Pro and Standard and of course won't mention Reader at all.

  • What version of windows would you most recommend using?

what version of windows would you most recommend using?
XP Home, XP Professional, Vista Home, Vista Business?
I see that XP takes up 1.5GB versus Vista's 20GB. XP uses 128MB Ram versus vista 512MB.
It would seem like XP would run faster and take up less space... but is it the best choice? Thanks for the suggestions.

  • TS4001 Transferring Google Chrome bookmarks to iOS using iCloud

I want to transfer my Google Chrome bookmarks to iOS using iCloud. How do I do it? My iCloud control panel does not have an 'options' button for bookmarks and it says 'Bookmarks with Internet Explorer'.

You could export the chrome bookmarks (as an html file) from your macbook, move the html file over to your new macbook pro, and import that html file into chrome there.
In chrome, Bookmarks menu, select Bookmark Manager.  A new tab will open with all your bookmarks.
Near the top of the bookmarks list is a toolbar that says "Bookmark Manager" and "Organize".  Left click the "Organize" and a menu will come up under it where the last two items are for exporting and importing.  Use them to create (export) the bookmark html file and to import that file on your new machine.

  • What version of iphoto should i download for my OS X Mountain Lion

what version of iphoto should i download for my OS X Mountain Lion and how can i get back my ivideo for my mac? it is gone after i installed 10.8.2 version

There is only one version of iPhoto. What version do you own? iPhoto is usually bundled with a Mac, so you should have a version. The current version 9.4.2.
How did you upgrade to 10.8.2 and from what version of OS X?
If you just did a plain upgrade without erasing the disk, then iVideo should still be in your Applications folder.

just purchased Imac running Lion - doc. and cwk. extensions will not open. whats the fix?

Pages 4.3 is the most recent, but no matter. If Pages cannot open it, there are many other programs that may be able to. Some of them are free.
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free if you can find it)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
Try TextEdit also. It is included in OS X.
If you are trying to open the document by double-clicking it, don't, since the Finder may be looking for a program that is no longer installed. Use Pages' File > Open... menu. The same recommendation applies to using any of the above alternatives - use their File > Open menu.
The least attractive alternative is to purchase Microsoft Word, but I have been completely Microsoft-free since updating to Lion.

I have just updated Acrobat to version 10.1.13. I am using a MAC Running Yosemite.  When I try to scan a document, after the printer scans Adobe Acrobat quits and I get an unexpected closure error.  I am running Mac OS 10.10.1.  This only started happening when I installed the update of Adobe Acrobat.

    Hi MEW1,
Is the printer connected wirelessly or wired?
Go to Preferences and under categories go to > Convert to Pdf then select the Image Capture and then hit ok button.
Close Acrobat and then relaunch it and see if it helps you while you do scanning.

  • What is the best way to connect a G4 running 9.2.2 or 10 to an new imac running lion?

What is the best way to connect a G4 running 9.2.2 or 10 to an new imac running lion?

It should be possible to network them easily.
Ethernet will be the most straightforward. There is no question that you can plug both Macs into a normal network and they can share files if you turn on File Sharing.
The iMac has a Gigabit Ethernet port, and if the G4 also has Gigabit Ethernet, that will be a very fast connection through a gigabit-capable Ethernet cable or router. Otherwise both can use the slower Ethernet speeds with no problem.
You can also network the two machines via a FireWire 800 or FireWire 400 cable if necessary, and use File Sharing that way too. Finally, you can put one Mac into FireWire Target Disk Mode, which turns it into a hard disk that the other Mac can see, but this is the least flexible since one machine goes out of service, and it's probably no faster than Gigabit Ethernet.

  • Tablet version of the site still showing up instead of desktop version in Google Chrome

I know that there is already a thread on this. It has been marked as answered. The answer details how the bug had been fixed and to apply the update. Another solution said to clear the browser's cache, restart, and reload. Neither of these solutions apply. My copy of Muse is up-to-date (2014.3.1.44). I reset my browser cache. Google Chrome still pulls up the tablet version of the site on my desktop.

    How a desktop/tablet/phone redirect works...
Let's say you go to www.yoursite.com. In that case the redirect looks at attributes of the viewer's device and elects to display the desktop, tablet or phone layout (assuming all three have been created).
Once on a page of the site a site viewer may click on a link on the page to view a different page of the site. If that link goes to a page that's part of the same rendition (desktop, tablet or phone) then that rendition of the page is displayed. If instead the link on the page explicitly directs to a different rendition either of the same page or a different page of the site (for example clicking on a "Go To Desktop Site" link when on a tablet or phone page) then the link goes to the targeted rendition. Once on that rendition, let's say for example the viewer is on their phone and was viewing a phone page and clicked a "Go To Desktop Site" link. In that case they're now viewing a desktop page on their phone. If they click a link on that desktop page for another page in the site, what should happen? Since the viewer explicitly clicked a link that transitioned to the "desktop" viewing experience, Muse will keep them on the desktop site. That's achieved by setting a "device lock" cookie in their browser so the normal redirect to a phone-specific page is ignored.
A best practice is to include a "Go To Desktop Site" link on your phone pages and a "Go To Mobile Site" link on your desktop pages. That way the site visitor can select the viewing experience they prefer and easily switch between the two. Conversely, all other links on the site should avoid linking from one rendition/layout/device to another. They should stay on the same device layout unless the name of the link clearly indicates to the site visitor they will be "going to a different rendition/layout" of the site.
