When I send a text message to my wives phone, It comes across on her ipad and not her iphone. I want it to go on the phone and not the ipad. Can anyone help?

Hi Again,
I called my wife and she said that under "send and receive", my number was checked and hers wasn't and no amount of tapping on her number would check it. Also, when she uncheck mine and all the email addresses, there was no more "send and receive" window. Now what?

Then why was the OP able to make the facetime calls before, with both items in a single contact then (if I am reading his posts correctly)? I know I do not have to separate my contacts like that, and I do facetime with a couple of relatives with wifi only iPads (usually from my own iPad 4 or MBP, but I've done it once or twice from my iPhone 5 - all of which use the exact same contact entries).

Go to settings > Messages and then "Send & Receive". It will list the phone numbers/email addresses that the phone will respond to .
Check and/or uncheck the appropriate items. -
When I send a text message I do not get any confirmation that it has been delivered. Is there any way of getting an automated message confirmation delivery and time? I was used to this with my old phone and need to know that my text message has been delivered to the recipient's phone, and when.
Thanks. So there's no means of knowing whether a text message has been delivered, not to mention time of delivery. Perhaps I've gone for the wrong phone. It might do a lot but seems to miss out on some basics.

Why is it that when I send a text message, sometimes the recipient receives it twice. It doesn't happen every time.
I am having this same problem. Sometimes it sends from my phone number, sometimes it sends from my gmail. Under my messages settings it says "receive messages at 2 addresses" and when I click on that I try to remove the gmail address from there but the option to delete that email address is grayed out so I can't click on it.
I discovered this was happening because I am in a group imessage with 2 friends. They told me that for some reason the group convos were split into 2 different conversations in their message list. And we discovered it's because in one group the messages are coming from my phone number, and in the other group it is coming from my gmail address.
I don't mind RECEIVING iMessages at both my phone number and my gmail - but I want control over which one is being used when I SEND iMessages.

When I send a text message it says delivery failed. When I resend it sends the message twice. Why am I having trouble?
Oh goodness! We want your text going through the first time, dria56. Does this happen when you're messaging someone in particular or is it every message you send? Is it a plain text or a message with more than 160 characters/graphics/pictures?

You are both signed ointo iMessage with the same APple ID. It is always best practice to use separate APple IDs for iCloud, iMessage & FaceTime.
If you choose to use the same Apple ID, check your Send & Recieve settings:
Settings > Messages > Send & Recieve > Make sure your husbands number is not checked on your phone (in both the You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and Start New Conversations From sections) and yours is not check on his phone. -

I am not sure what you mean.
Do you mean the From field?
You can change it by tapping it, it will give you options based on the other email accounts set up.
You can set a default account here:
Sttings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > scroll down to the Mail section & you will see Default Account. You can change that to your gmail account. -
When I send a text message from my iPhone response only comes back to my iPhone . If I send from iPad, response only comes back to iPad. Whichever I used last is where response comes. Responses are not coming to both anymore!
On both devices when you go to settings>messages>send and recieve how are poeple contacting you on each device?. e.g. email or mobile number.

When I send a text message, daughter's iphone records as also sending. I have an iphone 4 and she has an iphone 5. We both recently updated to ios 7. This problem did not happen before the update.
Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and tap to clear the check mark next to your phone number on her phone and her phone number on your phone. That should stop the dual posting.

when i send a text message with my new iphone 5 to my wife who is now using my old Iphone 4 we both receive the message. How is this possible? Also she receives all text messages sent to me. She obviously has a different phone number and a different provider

When I send a text message to one of my daughters, the message ends up going to my other daughter's iphone. Why? All three of our iphones are using the same itunes account but all of the sharing is turned off and I have checked to make sure that each phone is set to only recieve imessages at its own number.
Are you using the same email address for imessages, Go to settings,message, send and recieve, does each phone have the same email? checked?

Anybody got a better work flow for backing up multiple shoot day projects?
Many of my projects are shot over multiple days. I import media at the end of each day and back up the event to another drive before deleting media from cameras/cards. So on day 2 I have one of three work flows for updating my back-ups. 1. If I'm fee
