0MAT_PLANT Master Data

Hi Guys,
I am trying to activate and upload master data in BW PRD for 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR and 0MAT_PLANT_TXT. I tried to assign the R3 PRD system to the InfoObject under infosources but found the following error:
Mapping between data source 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR and source system WW_PRD_101 is inconsistent
InfoObj. 0PLNNR from fld PLNNR of dataSource 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR is not active but BCT ex. -> Dtl
InfoObj. 0PLAN_TYPE from fld PLNTY of dataSource 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR is not active but BCT ex. -> Dtl
InfoObj. 0PLVAR from fld PLVAR of dataSource 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR is not active but BCT ex. -> Dtl
This is the log of the transport as I set this up in BW Dev and tried to transport.
When I try to activate the Trans Rules in BW PRD I get:
InfoObject 0PLVAR is not available in version A and so on for the 3 infobjects. I think I have to install them in Business Content. If so can someone talk me through the procedure please as this is new.

hi Depesh,
you shouldn't activate in BW Prod, but transport from bw dev. first you need to transport datasource 0mat_plant_attr and 0mat_plant_text from r/3 dev to r/3 prod and replicate datasource in bw prod from r/3 prod.
then transport 0mat_plant with 'in dataflow before' to bw prod. when collect objects for transport remember to set in BW DEV 'source system assignment', in rsa1->transport connection->source system assignment, mark r/3 source system.
and in BW PROD, make sure 'mapping of source system' is maintained, rsa1->tools->mapping of source system,
set orgsrc.. with r/3 dev (or qa if transported from qa)
and trgsrc with r/3 prod.

Incorrect Value In master DATA

Hi Everyone,
I am getting incorrect data for attribute "Standard Price" of 0MAT_PLANT Master Data. This issue is there only for single record of 0MAT_PLANT value.In PSA data is correct as it is matching with R3.
everyday there is full load in 0MAT_PLANT,it as per business requirement.
Eg
provider level
Plant: ABCd
Standard Price : 40
PSA Level:
Plant: ABCd
Standard Price : 0.75
Note: here Standard Price is correct figure which i am getting.
Observations:
1. when i run dtp only for this record, i am getting correct Values.
2. In debugging of mode of DTP i am too getting correct Value

From your reply, I understood that, when you load single value, that record updated correctly.
But, when you load all the entries, You see, there's problem. Recently, I have resolved same kind of issue.
Details are given below :
Example :
When it's single record :
Material -   Price
MAT001 -   10
And the same is entered into Target correctly.
When, it's full load,
In PSA, We had entries as follows :
Customer -   Price
MAT001      - 10
MAT001-1 -   20
MAT001-2 -   30 ,
After transformation,
These values are converted as follows :
Due to some issue in Transfer Routine (Some logic)
MAT001      - 10
MAT001      -   20
MAT001      -   30
So, Since the Key's are same, in Duplicate key check,
Last record was taken :
MAT001      -   30
We see, wrong price for MAT001.
So the Suggestion is, in Info Package data selection,
Don't give the exact value for single record execution.
Give filter like,
MAT001* .
So that, Info Package will pull all the three entries and You can check the DTP for any duplicate message. Then, We can figure it out.

Master data delta load failed

Hi All,
Delta load for 0MAT_PLANT master data failed and the error message in monitor is "there are duplicate records (with same key)". 0MAT_PLANT is coumpounded with 0PLANT. I checked in PSA and there is more than one record with the same key (0MAT_PLANT & 0PLANT). My understanding is master data has to be replaced if a new record comes in with same key as the previous one. I am not sure how to correct this and finish the load.
Can anyone throw their inputs?

0MAT_PLANT is sourced from table MARC in R/3. Keys in MARC is also Plant and Material just like th eInfoObject 0MAT_PLANT.
Check table MARC in R/3. If that also has duplicates and you want to get the data load through, then load to PSA and upload from there ignoring duplicates.

Material master data complete in bi - infoset or multiprovider

Hi all.
for one of the reporting requirement of my client i need to extract the complete material master data in BI - from MARA, MARC, MARD, MSTLB tabls.
which i have done and stored in the infoobjects - 0MATERIAL, 0MAT_ST_LOC, 0MAT_PLANT, 0MAT_SALES.
now user want to see all the information against each material in 1 single line the multiple lines will only come in when there is plant.
which approach i shoul go for this scenario.
infoset or multiprovider.
i created infoset by using inner join but then i see only common materials, left outer join is giving me problems.like -
Invalid or missing ON condition for left outer join (0MAT_PLANT)
Invalid or missing ON condition for left outer join (0MAT_ST_LOC)
Invalid ON condition for left outer join (0MATERIAL)

There are restrictions regarding left outer join in infoset:
If a left outer join is used, the following restriction applies to the right table (right operand):
·        Only join conditions with exactly one other table can be defined and
·        This table in turn cannot be a right table (right operand) of a left outer join.
Tables connected with left outer joins always form the end of a chain of tables. In this way, as many tables as you want can be linked in an InfoSet with a left outer join to a core of tables that are connected using inner joins.
The restrictions on the definition of left outer joins are due to the technical limitations of databases. These restrictions do not apply to inner joins.

Process Chain Master Data Failed.Showing Entire chain has status R

Hi,
Everyday SDMasterChain is running successfully.
Today one of the localChain or subchain has failed.
I have noticed that it has failed because last delta for one infoPackage has not yet completed and chain showing status "Entire chain now has status 'R'"
Can anybody resolve the issue?

There are times when Master Data load compel us to do Re-Init. I guess you need a Re-Init.

Best Design for Master data

hi,
I would like to get your suggestions on the data modelling:
I have material, mat_plant and mat_sales.I need to create reports on these master data. But when i created a infoset on those 3 master data, one of my key figure "amount" is becoming 10 times like 1 line for material 10 lines for mat_plant and as a result the report is showing the key figure values 10 times of original value.
Please advise what would be the best way to go...

You will get 10 lines only. I guess you have 10 plants for that perticular Plants or sales.
It should come reporting requirements. Please let us know what do you want to report?
relation between 3 master data objects is... 1:N:N (0Material:0MAT_PLANT:0mat_sales).
You can't avoid it... restrict by plant....

Complex data model question regarding master data

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to add master data retail price and master data cost into BW.
Both amounts are based on plant and material. How do I model this?
Here is how the records are coming in via the datasource:

Here's what I am thinking....
1. Add UofM, Cost, and Retail prices as attributes of 0MAT_PLANT infoObject
    Also make those attributes time dependent.
2. Use ABAP slit up the cost info and the retail info and use the valid dates above for the time dependent from/to dates in 0MAT_PLANT
Example:
0MAT_PLANT attributes:
Plant   Material      UofM Cost    ValidityFrom ValidityTo    Retail
0001   1000321      EA    $1.00   5/1/07          5/9/07
0001   1000321      CS    $8.00   5/5/07          5/7/07

After looking at the above, I need to compound UofM with 0MAT_PLANT somehow. How would I do that?

Chris,
I wouldn't include those amounts as attributes for 0MAT_PLANT. In general it doesn't make too much sense, except in some very specific cases, to make a Key Figure an Attribute of a Characteristic.
I wouldn't either modify the 0MAT_PLANT key to compound it with UOM... Not a good idea, in my opinion.
In your case, those values can change over time, depending on the validity period. So you could have several records with different validity periods for the same Material and Plant combination.
I'd rather create an ODS with these values. The key fields would be 0MAT_PLANT and the validity dates and the data fields would be the amounts.
You could use and include this ODS in any Multicube or get the values based on the validity periods by using ABAP routines if you need to.
Another thing, as SAP recommends, an InfoObject with more than 500,000 records shouldn't be modeled as Master Data. And 0MAT_PLANT is a perfect candidate for this situation.
So I'd advise to go with the ODS solution.

LookUp for Master Data

Hello All,
I have an Infobject say 0MATERIAL which has two Navigational Attributes say MATERIAL1 and MATERIAL2.
These are part of Master Data. My objective is to have MATERIAL1 and MATERIAL2 in my cube so that I can directly report on these without having to go drilling.
I have 0MATERIAL, MATERIAL1 and MATERIAL2 in my cube, but the twist is 0MATERIAL is mapped to 0PLANT (say). Is it possible that I can escape from the LookUp or is it mandatory. I have tried the "Master Data Attribute of " option in the Update rules, this does'nt seem to work some how.
If LookUp is mandatory can some one help me with the ABAP part of the scenario.

2. MATERIAL1 and MATERIAL2 have no Compounded attributes either
3. MATERIAL1 and MATERIAL2 are attributes of 0MATERIAL
4. 0MATERIAL, MATERIAL1, and MATERIAL2 are all characteristics of your cube

If this is so, then in your update rules for MATERIAL1 (and MATERIAL2), you should be able to map it as "Master data Attribute of" 0MATERIAL.
0MAT_PLANT should not factor into the equation just because 0MATERIAL is an attribute.

Loads to Master data object

If I have created selection packages to load to a master data object for example:
1. Load to 0MAT_PLANT
2. Five packages created filtered by plant range
If I kick off the first package do I need this load to finish before the second package can load into the object i.e. 0MAT_PLANT is locked by the first package or can I load packages in parallel to a master data object? If so how? Thanks

2. Kick off a package with a few hundred thousand lines after the first package, will complete before first package
3. Get an error since the extract completes in R3. However cannot load to the object since it is locked by the first

Activate time dependent master data

Hello,
we're experiencing problems in activating time dependent master data.
We're using 0UCINSTALLA infoobject, in the P table all records have objvers = A, but in the Q table there are only a few A records, the most of them have objvers = M and changed = I.
So, how can we activate those records?

*Diagnosis:*Errors arose when activating InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT. An active version already existed before the activation.
_System Response:_InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT could not be reset to the old active version. Since the generated objects no longer correspond to the old active version, they were reset to inactive.
*Procedure:*The old active version of InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT can no longer be used. Remove the cause of the activation error and activate InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT anew.
Pls help me with this issue ASAP...

Process chain Upload of Master Data

I have to create process chains to load the Master data and text.
lets say i have Cost Center master data to be loaded through process chain.
And this CC has 3 Attributes like Org ,Profit Center..
So have i got to do the process chain in sucha way that
I have to load the Org, Profit Center master data and its text first and then set the process chain to load the Cost Center if the above are successful ???

GG,
The loading of master data (attributes) for Org, PC and any other attributes is recommended before loading the cost center data, but not required.
The only thing that could happen is the system has to do extra work in creating master data entries that don't yet exist, on smaller master data loads like cost center, it won't make much of a difference, but master data like 0MAT_PLANT, and not loading 0MATERIAL prior, could take longer.
Texts can be loaded at any time, texts don't slow down system performance and are not required for master data creation.

0MAT_PLANT Infoobject data from 0MATERIAL infoobject

Hi Guys,
I have one scenario where i want to have data from material Master MARA & MARC. 0MATERIAL_ATTR pulls data from MARA and 0MAT_PLANT pulls data from MARC. I want to use Navigation Attribute of 0MATERIAL_ATTR and 0MAT_PLANT in one infocube.
In Source, i have fields like 0PO No, 0Vendor, 0Plant, 0Material , 0Qty and in Target i will have fields like 0Vendor, 0Plant, 0Material, 0MAT_PLANT, QTY. I am getting correct data for 0MATERIAL (Source) mapped with 0MATERIAL (Target) but here if i do a mapping between 0MATERIAL (Source) and 0MAT_PLANT (Target) then 0PLANT is compounded object in 0MAT_PLANT.So, if i load data from Source to Infocube then i could see 0MAT_PLANT value but i am getting "#" value for all Navigation Attributes of 0MAT_PLANT.
How can we have navigation attribute data for both this infoobject together in 1 infocube ?

Hi,
If i understand your requirement correctly. You can try this.
1. First of all load the master data for 0MAT_PLANT, so that there is data for all Attributes (Both DISP & NAV). ( If you have maintained MD )
2. Now in your InfoCube, map both 0MAT_PLANT & Plant with 0MATERIAL in your transformation and choose the option "READ MASTER DATA" and map it with required attribute of 0MATERIAL.
You need to map the corresponding "COMPOUNDED" Objects always to get values in them.
It will solve your problem.

Cannot activate master data - logs fill

Hi All,
We recently had to do a full load of master data for the 0MAT_PLANT object. The MARC table in our source system contains 31 million records, so that's how many records are now in status M in our master data table.
We are now trying to activate the master data and it keeps terminating because the database logs keep filling. We have tried the activation by Tools -- Apply Hierarchy/Change Run. We have also tried right clicking on 0MAT_PLANT infoobject. Both methods start the activation, and everything looks ok in SM50. It gets through the deletion in XMAT_PLANT, then moves onto PMAT_PLANT. Then it fills the logs, sending messages to SM21.
Then the database rollback (DB2) occurs.
Our basis people have increased the log space for the table space partition from 45 GB to 60 GB. The logs still filled.
Are there any methods we can use to activate the master data for 0MAT_PLANT in smaller subsets? Or to make the activation commit during the process?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Try to activate the Datasource by useing ' RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL'
1. Goto SE38> Select 'RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL'> Click on Execuite.
2. Give the Infosource/ Datasoruce--> Click on Execuite.
3. Replicate the Datasource in BI side.
4 Apply the Attribute change run for that object.
Slect Tool> Select ' Apply Hierarchy/ Attribute change run'> Click on ' Infoobject list'> Select the Infoobjects> Click on Save.

Can not find master data in the cube

ItemNo is an navigation attribute of 0Material. We are using 0material in a cube. When I display the cube data include ItemNo, I don't find the data I am looking for. For example:
In 0Material:
0Material      ItemNo    Description
AAA                001           Test
BBB                002           Test
In the cube I expect to see:
0Material             ItemNo            On Hand Qty
AAA                      001                      1000
BBB                      002                       2000
Instead I saw:
0Material             ItemNo            On Hand Qty
AAA                                                1000
BBB                                                2000
0Material got refreshed after cube data got loaded. Is that why I don't find the refreshed Master data?

Hi,
When you laod the cube, the Values for Master are automatically get created in the master data (If they are not present earlier and with "Data Update Type in the Data Tragets" setting in InfoPackage).
Now when you are loading your cube with 0Material and Item Number, the values for Item Number seems blank. Thats the reason why you are not able to see the Item Number in Cube though it is present in Master. Because now these are two different keys, one with Item Number value and other without Item Number value.
