0material attribute - classification extraction

Dear BW Experts,
We have custom info object created for classification characteristics attached to 0material. Custom info object is an attribute of 0meterial.
We have loaded key and text description of the R/3 material classification data into Custom info object. we attach/load classification details to each material in 0mateterial through DSO.
We found that some mismatch with respect to classification loaded into 0material. For example, 'ABC' material, classification value supposed to be '23' but system loaded some other classification key '45' which lead though wrong text description display in the report. system is acting in this manner due to some malfunctioning of data loading sequence, however classification field mapping in the BW system seems to be correct one.
Now, We would like to apply remedies by emptying custom info object and same time we also need to empty custom info object values attached to 0material.
We can delete content of custom info object independently but how can we remove value which are already assigned to 0material ? What are the ways through which we can remove classification value already assigned to each material in 0material info object.
This issue is related to R/3 material classification into SAP BW 0material attribute.

Hi,
As far as i understand your problem......
The right data is being extracted from R/3, however because of some discrepancy on the BW side, the wrong values have been loaded.
Well, the easiest way to clear the field would be to dispay load 0 values for that custom IO.
This can be achieved with a flat file load.......
Alternatively, you can can change the mapping of the master data by removing the assigned IO.... but before moving teh master data, you will haev to delete the master data from prod and also the dat ain teh InfoProviders where the master data is used..
However the best possible solution would be to identify the bug and then do a data load again. As the master data is in overwrite mode

0MATERIAL attributes deleted from the active version of the InfoObject.

Hello Experts ,
As per a Business requirement , I deleted some of the system defined attributes of the 0MATERIAL charecteristics , and found the new active version of 0MATERIAL is incompatible with the SID table , Attribute and text master data table. I tried to copy the original version of 0MATERIAL from the business content but the system is not allowing me to do so , instead it duplicated all the attribute fields twice in the 0Material and created 3 version of 0MATERIAL "active" , "revised" and "content".
Also one user defined attribute BW_MATN was created , and now wants to get rid of that.
I want to revert back the original master data field (attribute and text) and other technical settings of 0MATERIAL infoobject equivalent to that in Business Content, and should have ideally one active version of 0Material " during that process if I require to loose the current master data that is fine.
Kindly Advise how to achieve that .

You should have created a Z infoobject by the name ZMATERIAL by using 0MATERIAL as a template and then modified it (ZMATERIAL) .
Also if you find any attribute of an Infoobject is of no use then instead of deleting it just leave it as it is as SAP has provided it for some reason and you never know when you need them in future .
And yes you cannot install the business content version of 0material if there is data in the master data table .
By the way which version of BI are you working on ?
If you are on BI 7.0 SP 23 or higher (BW 7.3) then there are some new additional functionality added to delete the master data with ease .

0MATERIAL ATTRIBUTES LOAD

Hi All,
We are trying to load 0material attr.
We receive error message
Value '$ ' for characteristic 0UNIT contains invalid characters
After some investigation we see that unit values in English as PC are ok
But letters in local language gives the error above.
We defined in RSKC the ALL_CAPITALS ,the local language letters.
And we still have the error when loading the data to the info object .
Does anyone have any idea?

Hi,
your error message looks like you try to post a currency sign as a unit. This seems to be your error. Analyze the material for which $ is maintained as a unit and try to correct the error in your source system. I already faced similar errors, specially when somebody tried some very special settings in the R/3 transactions like posting an amount to a quantity field and assigning some special abbrieviations for the currency to the unit of measures table.

Values for attributes in 0MATERIAL missing

Dear friend,
I have infoobjects 0FAMILY, 0SEGMENT as attributes of 0MATERIAL and i have loaded master data in dev BW and QBW for all the infoobjects including 0MATERIAL. Now in dev BW i see values for 0FAMILY and 0SEGMENT in master data for 0MATERIAL but i dont see these values in QBW for 0MATERIAL. What could be the reason? Please suggest?

There is master data in 0FAMILY,0SEGMENT and 0MATERIAL but in QBW the values for 0FAMILY and 0SEGMENT are missing. I have checked the transfer structure for 0MATERIAL attributes and found that there is a routine for populating 0FAMILY and 0SEGMENT. The code is as below. I am still pondering what is missing? Thanks for all the help.

Essbase Metadata ATTRIBUTE Extraction

Hi Everyone,
Anyone have any luck exporting Essbase (BSO) hierarchy attribute information? I have the Essbase Dimension extraction working, but getting an error on the Attribute process.
Appreciate your thoughts -- let me know if anyone has had any success with this.

Hmm... I was just able to Export my Essbase Attribute Dimension Hierarchy with Star Analytics Integration Services (SIS) in about 5 minutes. So I know the extraction of Attribute hierarchies is possible. The cool thing was SIS created its own table to do this and it was user friendly. Very cool extraction utility -- far superior than the OLAP Extraction tool.
Has anyone had success using ODI to extract Attribute Dimension Hierarchies? I hope so because I'd like to use ODI to do this step. Was hoping to see a John Goodwin blog on this or something by Cameron Lackpour.
We're also installing Patch 12529600: ORACLE DATA INTEGRATOR 10.1.3.6.8 CUMULATIVE PATCH this weekend and maybe that might help get beyond the erorr we're hitting.

Error While activating 0Material(BI7)

Dear Gurus,
I am trying to Activate 0Material Infoobject after deleting a Navigation attribute(Classification characteristics) ,the system throws a error " Error while activating Type Info object".And when i navigated to the Detailed error message it says " error : Internal Activation(info object) - error while converting master data tables .Can anyone help me out with this.

Dear gurus,
We posted the error message to SAP and they have replied " while we deleted the attributes from the Info object(0material) it broke the D-Version of the Object and so to Transport the Info object from another Working system to the Problem(Dev)system ,Install and then activate".
1). Does it mean we can install them object in PRODUCTION Server and then transport to the Development.???
2). Now i tried installing 0Material in RSORBCT in Produciton,but gets a message "Cant make any changes in the repository-changes in this client prohibited". Guys could u help us with this??

Cant fully load updated data to Master data attribute

Hi BW expert,
I meet an issue here, I am not able to load updated data to master data attribute. My loading selection is based on employee number range.
e.g employee number 00001 to 10000
However the data is successfully loaded to master data but lot of the attribute data are not updated. e.g 056, 057, 098, 0100.
I checked in PSA, there is no data updated for the attribute.
I checked in RSA3 in R/3, there are attribute data extracted.
Please advice, why attribute data is not updated when I load it in a range number. The attribute only work when I load one employee number.

Enhanced Extract Structure: What should be done on BW side, PLEASE

Hi all,
   I have 'Enhanced the Extract Structure' (BIW_PROJ) for 0PROJECT_ATTR DataSource with to add a new field 'Project Start Date' (PLFAZ Field of PROJ Table). It has been activated successfully and I could see this new field in 0PROJECT_ATTR DataSource with RSA6. 'Hide' check is cleared.
This DataSource has been replicated in BW. This new field is not found in the Communication or Transfer Rules. There is no changes in the Communication Structure in BW after 'Append Extract Structure' on R/3 side. Where can I find this new field on BW.
   Did I miss something in this process of 'Enhance the Extract Structure' ? What should I do on BW side, PLEASE?

Hi Ganesh,
    1. Define the new InfoObject for the enhanced field.
    2. Add this new InfoObject under 0MATERIAL Attributes.
    3. Now, you could see it in Communication Structure
    4. Double click the Source System under 0MATERIAL InfoSource
        Select 'Transfer Rules' tab.
        On Right side (Assign Info Object field), type the new InfoObject name
        for the enhanced field.
    5. Select 'DataSource/Trans. Structure' tab.
        Map the DataSource field in the right side to the left side (Transfer Structure).
    6. Activate it.
       You should be fine now.

1.     Creation of Info Objects
     In left panel select info object
     Create info area
     Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
     Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
     Create required info objects and Activate.
2.     Creation of Data Source
     In the left panel select data sources
     Create application component(AC)
     Right click AC and create datasource
     Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( master data attributes, text, hierarchies)
     In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
     In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
     In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
     In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
     Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
     Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )

     Select created info area and right click to select Insert Characteristics as info provider
     Select required info object ( Ex : Employee ID)
     Under that info object select attributes
     Right click on attributes and select create transformation.

I don't understand what is the link between the '3-infoobjects attributes change run' (BBATCH, 0MAT_SALES, 0MAT_PLANT) and the rebuilt of 3 0IC_C03 (Material Stocks/Movements) aggregates (why does the 'attribute chan run' trigger the rebuit of aggregates???).
The rebuilt of the 3 aggregates takes 1 416, 3 366, 3 009 secondes...
Does anyone understand my problematic? If not I can give you more details.

BI 7.0 Flat file extraction

Hi all....
For getting acquainted with BI 7.0 i am trying to extract the data from falt file...
1)every thing is fine i created DTP's at cube level and as well as Data source level
2)I have executed / triggred like in Infopacakage to schedule the dat
3) Request stautus is green in Infocube and anf it is also available for reporting..
4)When i checked monitor i could see over all status green...and i could find no data in the info cube.
i ahve done transformations and DTP's correctly .then why i cpould not see the data in infocube and why i could see all requests set to green and also available for reporting

Create info area

HI Gurus,
I have 1.5 lac records and i want to load thru flat files, what are the steps for loading And what are the measures for performance tunning?

Uploading of master data
Log on to your SAP
Transaction code RSA1LEAD YOU TO MODELLING
1. Creation of Info Objects
In left panel select info object
Create info area
Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
Create required info objects and Activate.
2. Creation of Data Source
In the left panel select data sources
Create application component(AC)
Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( master data attributes, text, hierarchies)
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )
3. Creation of data targets
In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to select Insert Characteristics as info provider
Select required info object ( Ex : Employee ID)
Under that info object select attributes
Right click on attributes and select create transformation.
In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
4. Monitor
Right Click data targets and select manage and in contents tab select contents to view the loaded data. Alternatively monitor icon can be used.

How do i query attributes from xml documents

I want to to query only details in Issue id="705230" (id is an attribute)
I tried this, but does not help. I should be able to query the value of core_org_id attribute

I did not include the name space declaration for it is working fine. Really? Then I suppose you must be using a schema-based XMLType column?
Is it Object-Relational or Binary XML storage?
You mentioned it is depricated in 11.2, but iam able to run it on 11.2.Deprecated doesn't mean it ceases functioning.
Any suggestions to covert this to XMLTable/XMLQuery format please..If you read the documentation, it covers this part too ;)

Fonts/attributes change between IC/ID

We're using InCopy CS2 Version 4 on Macs running OS X 10.3.9. I set up a document of news briefs every week. I cut and paste the news items from e-mail into a new incx document. My new document includes the same style palette I use on all other new documents I generate. My other documents go through fine, with the style calls (i.e. font, type size etc.) matching on the InDesign end. However, this roundup document, always reads on the InDesign with all uppercase headlines. After I have saved the roundup, I have double-checked and my styles have not somehow changed to call for all uppercase heds. I have tried saving the cut and pasted text as plain text before pasting it into the incx file, but I get the same result. There is nothing that each week's document has in common with the previous week's, except that I cut and paste this text. Is that somehow throwing things off? Why can't I detect anything amiss on my end?
