0MATERIAL with numeric data

Hi Experts,
We are using 0MATERIAL standard infoobject for master data. We have master data coming in flat file/.csv format and loaded into 0MATERIAL. Material codes contain character data as well as numbers. When we load the material codes, which contain just numbers, system is appending leading zeros. How can we avoid this problem?
Example: Material code 1234, we want to store and display as 1234 but not 000000000000001234.
I appeciate your answers.

HI:
You would have to remove the ALPHA conversion routine that is implemented by default.

  • Execute query  run fine with numeric data not give result on string data

    Hi master
    Sir I use under blow code for execute query
    sir when I use numeric data then run fine but when I use character data then not give any result
    with numeric run fine
    DECLARE
         DD VARCHAR2(15);
    BEGIN
         DD:=10;
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, 'where DEPTNO='||DD);
    go_block('emp');
    execute_query;
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, '');
    END;
    With character not give any result
    DECLARE
         DD VARCHAR2(15);
    BEGIN
         DD:='SALESMAN';
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, 'where RTRIM(EMPNO)='||DD);
    go_block('emp');
    execute_query;
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, '');
    END;
    Please give me any idea

    bro it is not working on string format coz of the missing quotes. e.g. 'smith' or smith. so the quoted string will be compared. in set_block_property u have to include extra quotes on the variable. e.g.
    set_block_property('emp',default_where,'where ename='''||:emp.ename||'');
    or with conditional statement
    set_block_property('emp',default_where,'where ename='''||:emp.ename||''' and dname='''||dept.deptno||'');
    there i included two extra qoutes before joining ename and in the an extra quote to complete to string. if u would like to debug at runtime to show if the qouted string condition is proper then assign the where clause to a variable and message it up.
    like
    myvariable:='where ename='''||:emp.ename||'';
    message(myvariable);
    message(myvariable);
    set_block_property('emp',default_where,myvariable);
    after the string is quoted properly the execute query will work fine, also use the function upper or lower to compare strings.

    is it because My total columns are called Total Open Crew SOs?It's because the total column is called that inside the in-line view, but you're referencing a column called total in the main query. You can call the column whatever you like, but be consistent.
    Avoid using double-quotes, if possible. If you really, really want to have a non-standard column name like "Total Open Crew SOs" in the main query, then use double-auotes there, but use standard names inside the subqueries.
    Also, ORDER BY clauses in sub-queries are almost always a waste of resources, because the order won't necessarily be preserved in the main query.
    SELECT    BI_LMN_SRV_DESC
    ,        SUM (total)     AS total
    FROM        (

                   T1.BI_LMN_SRV_DESC,
                   COUNT(T1.BI_SO_NBR) AS total
               FROM
               --  The preceding is the other one of the original queries
    GROUP BY      T1.BI_LMN_SRV_DESC
    ORDER BY      T1.BI_LMN_SRV_DESC     -- This is the only ORDER BY clause you need in the whole query
    Also, T1."BI_LMN_SRV_DESC" is what I'm selecting on instead of AreaThat's fine; there's nothing magical about the column name area. Use whatever you like, but use the same thing in the main query and the sub-query. (In this case, you are already being consistent.)

  • Numeric data is not displayed in BI Publisher 11g report

    Hi,
    I'm using Oracle BI 11g (11.1.1.6.0).
    I'm experiencing a serious issue with numeric data in reports created with Publisher.
    When I define the query in the data model, numeric data gets declared as "integer" (even if it should be "double"). Anyway, when creating the layout all data is correctly shown.
    The issue emerges when I run the report in interactive mode: numeric data is not displayed at all.
    If I run it in HTML mode or other, I get proper results.
    I tried to explicitly CAST numeric data in the query to number(21, 6) but I get no different result.
    Any help or suggestion is warmly welcome.
    Thanks,
    Cristina

    Yes, assuming that you are using the Standalone version, following are some excerpt from user guide.

    CLOB (conditionally supported)
    The CLOB must contain text or XML. Data cannot be escaped inside the CLOB column.
    And for 11g see
    Oracle® Fusion Middleware
    Data Modeling Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher
    Release 11g (11.1.1)
    Part No. E18862-01
    Chapter 3 Creating Data Sets
    Using Data Stored as a Character Large Object (CLOB) in a Data Model
    BI Publisher supports using data stored as a character large object (CLOB) data type in
    your data models. This feature enables you to use XML data generated by a separate
    process and stored in your database as input to a BI Publisher data model.
    Use the Query Builder to retrieve the column in your SQL query, then use the data
    model editor to specify how you want the data structured. When the data model is
    executed, the data engine can structure the data either as:
    • a plain character set within an XML tag name that can be displayed in a report (for
    example, an Item Description)
    • structured XML

  • Gui_upload for csv file with numeric n date fields

    Hi ,
      i searched on net on how to use GUI_UPLOAD for csv files using split function but the spilt function requires that the data type of all fields of the internal table should be character whereas in my case there is a numeric n data field too.So kindly help me how to do it.
    One way ppl might suggest that give all the fields as char in the internal n after recieving the data in the internal convert the required fields back to data n numeric n then finally insert to the database but if i have 80 fields u would really dont want to do that as it requires precision to convert it to the same type n length as in the original database for all the fields.

    yeah i guess that would be a bit longer if i m having more no of fields (80) compared to ORACLE where this can be done in a shorter way.
    SO i shall use 2 internal tables here rite?? i mean first one(with all fields as char) for storing the split function values and the other one (with actual data types) .CAN u plz tell me how to convert or cast from one data type to another n while moving values from 1st internal table to another  which way shall i do.
    Thanks for ur help n can u suggest if there is any other method for uploading csv also other than this split method n whether this method is better n faster than others.

  • How is numeric data received with UDP interpretted?

    A device sends numeric data with the UDP protocol and the transmitted data is simply a sequence of numbers.
    Example:
    Numbers 500, 501 and 502 in 16 bit big-endian representation (0x01F4, 0x01F5, 0x01F6) results in the data
    0x01 0xF4 0x01 0xF5 0x01 0xF6 (6 bytes)
    How does the LabView UDP Read.vi (ver. 5.1) interpret this data when displaying it in string format? Does it return the string "01F401F501F6" or does it return the six characters that have the ASCII values
    0x01 (1)
    0xF4 (244)
    0x01 (1)
    0xF5 (245)
    0x01 (1)
    0xF6 (246)
    making the string "☺¶☺§☺÷" ?

    It does not "interpret" anything, you'll get the string with the six raw bytes. It is up to you to cast it to the right data type.
    Use "type cast" to interpret it as the 16bit, see attached image for an example (I assumed U16).
    (Note that you can of course set the string to display the hex code for clarity, especially if you expect unprintable ASCII codes. To do so, right click on it and select hex codes. This is only cosmetic).

  • Help needed with missing data problem in CRVS2010

    We recently upgraded the reporting engine in our product to use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (previously engine was CR9). Our quote report, which has numerous subreports and lots of conditional formatting, started losing data when a quote took more than a single page to be printed. We knew the SQL results included the data, but the report was not printing those lines at all or sometimes printing a partial line. In addition, the running total on the report would exclude the lines that were being missed on the next page. In one example submitted by a customer, 3 lines were skipped between pages.
    I think I have identified two potential issues that document the possibility of data not being included in the report.
    The first potential issue is an issue with the "suppress blank section" option being checked. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01483793, being released someday with service pack 2 for CRVS2010.
    The second potential issue is using shared variables. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01484308, also targeted for SP2.
    Our quote report does not explicitly use shared variables with any of the subreports, but it does have several subreports, each in its own section that has the "supress blank section" option checked. We have other reports that use this feature, as well, and they are not exhibiting the problem.
    One different thing about the quote report is that it has a section with multiple suppression options selected. The section has a conditional suppression formula, which controls whether the section is included at all within the report. The section also has the suppress blank section option selected. There are multiple fields within the report that are each conditionally suppressed. In theory, the section's suppress formula could evaluate to true, yet all of the fields within the section are suppressed (due to null values), and then the "suppress blank section" option would kick in.
    The missing data only seems to happen when the section is not being suppressed, and at least one of the fields is being included in the report. If I clear the "suppress blank section" check box, and change the section formula to also include the rules applied to the fields in the section, the missing data problem seems to be resolved.
    Is this related to ADAPT01483793? Will it be fixed in service pack 2?
    If more details are needed, I would be happy to provide a sample report with stored data.

    Hi Don,
    Have a look at the Record Selection formula in CR Designer ( stand alone ) and when exported to RPT format opening that report in the Designer also.
    There's been a few issues with => logic in the record selection formula. It could be you are running into this problem. Look for NOT inserted into your selection formula.
    Oh and SP2 is coming out shortly so it may resolve the issue. But if you want you could purchase a support, or if you have a support contract then create a case in SMP and get a rep to work with you to debug the issue.
    If you have not try the Trial Version of CR 2011, put it on a VM-ware image or Test PC so you don't corrupt anything for production and have a look at and test it in that designer also. If you purchase a case and it is a bug then you'll get a credit back for the case.

  • Using MODEL clause and COUNT for not numeric data columns....

    Hi ,
    Is it possible somehow to use the COUNT function to transform a non-numeric data column to a numeric data value (a counter) and be used in a MODEL clause....????
    For example , i tried the following in the emp table of SCOTT dataschema with no desired result...
    SQL> select deptno , empno , hiredate from emp;
    DEPTNO EMPNO HIREDATE
        20  7369 18/12/1980
        30  7499 20/02/1981
        30  7521 22/02/1981
        20  7566 02/04/1981
        30  7654 28/09/1981

            10          1       1982          1
            10          1       1990 As you see , the measures for the 1990 year is null...because the measure(the count(deptno)) is computed via the group by and not by the MODEL clause...
    How should i transform the above query... so as the "count_[1,1982]+count_[11,1982]" will return non-null results per deptno...????
    Thanks , a lot
