  • Error: Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A)

Hi all, I am absolutely new to iPhone development, so i'm sure this is a simple error. I've already done a search for this problem, but haven't understood the answer yet.
Before i got to to writing my first app, i wanted to try installing a bit of sample code from the apple site, so i downloaded ' aurioTouch from the link below, then put it in a new folder.
    http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/navigation/SampleCode.html
The project launches fine in xcode, but when i click 'Build & Run'...it seems fine right up to the point it transfers it onto my actual iphone (latest non beta version) & I get this error.
Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application : Try disconnecting and powering off the device; then power the device on and reconnect it.
What am i doing wrong? Dooes my iPhone need to somehow be 'prepared' for accepting apps? Is there something wrong with the code.
Any help would be gratefully received ! If i can get past this step..I can move on..
    Cheers
    Ru

Surely it must be something simple?
Quick answer: Your environment simply isn't configured properly. You don't have the digital certificates in place to access your device for what you're trying to do.
The entire process includes many mandatory elements. Users can't short-cut it and they can't jump in randomly. You'll need to spend time getting up to speed first, or run the risk of having many more questions such as you've already encountered. Don't get me wrong...we all have questions. But the docs exist to cover basics which in most cases are an assumed part of the questioner's background - hopefully. After you've invested your time, if you're still confused, please speak up.

  • Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A)

    Hello!
I write my first application for iPhone. It work on simulator excellent.
I want to try it on my iPod. I added my application using organizer but have a problem:
+*Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A)*+
    ApplicationVerificationFailed
    How to solve my problem?
    TIA

Guys, ths solution is to have a hacked phone and goto the folder:
    /Private/var/mobile/Media/PublicStaging/
delete all the crap in there...these are copies of your deployed apps and they screw things up...
Use mobilefinder to delete the files, or ssh, or afp......whatever you choose just know that some apps like the accelerometergraph sample code STILL give me the error and can't be deployed.
I found this info at this guys web blog, he dumped the file system and then got the error and redumped the filesystem to scan for changes.....give him the credit I am just spreading the word.

  • "0xE800003A" & provisioning errors when trying to build and deploy!

I've seen a few posts about this but none of the suggested solutions seem to work.
    My problems are as follows:
    1) "CodeSign error: no provisioning profile found with UUID '[code]'"
    2) "Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application"
The provisioning error is really getting to me. I have found some fixes that describe modifying the project file and have done so. Once the file has been modified I can get the build and go to work with the simulator but as soon as I attempt to deploy to an actual iphone both will stop working. The iphone gets the 2nd error, which I've tried to fix by changing the info.plist file to modify the bundle id to just the address but it doesnt help.
This is the only wall I can see thats blocking me from uploading to the appstore.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You might want to look at my blog post at http://tinyurl.com/codesign .
Apart from that it might help if you could elaborate a bit more about the specific error you're experiencing. In my experience EVERY codesign problem is an issue of mis-configuration / restarting Xcode and can ultimately be resolved.

  • Can't get developmental App to deploy to my iPhone (0xE800003A variation)

    Hello All,
I believe I have followed Apple's guidelines to T but I still can not get my app to deploy to my developmental iPhone. It seems to copy all the files over but then fails at the last second with the dreaded "Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application" Error.
After the failure the Organizer console logger display's this:
Sun Sep 21 16:10:53 unknown mobileinstallationproxy[207] <Error>: installembeddedprofile: Skipping the installation of the embedded profile
    Sun Sep 21 16:10:53 unknown securityd[191] <Error>: mobile_installat[207] SecItemCopyMatching: missing entitlement
Sun Sep 21 16:10:53 unknown mobileinstallationproxy[207] <Error>: entitlement 'application-identifier' has value not permitted by a provisioning profile

Sun Sep 21 16:10:53 unknown mobileinstallationproxy[207] <Error>: install_application: Could not preflight application install

    Sun Sep 21 16:11:21 unknown afcd[214] <Error>: user mobile has uid 501
    Sun Sep 21 16:11:21 unknown afcd[214] <Error>: mode is 0x41e8
Which seems to indicate that there is a problem with entitlements.plist. Well, I don't even have this file so I don't know what that is about. I thought this was only required for ad hoc distribution (which i think is different from just development distribution which is what I did).
Please help me. Thank you very much.

Make sure you have the latest SDK and your phone is updated at this point.
Get the latest Portal Guidelines (new version just a week or two ago)
If it downloaded a version of your app to your phone delete it from the phone.
Check the Keys section of Keychain. Is your development certificate there? Can you expand it it out?
Does the name you put in BOTH places in xcode match (while in debug settings)? (project and target settings) iPhone Developer: My Name
No need for entitlement for regular development.
Is your provision set in both places while you have it set to a debug build?
    Is organizer checked for this?
What does organizer say while downloading?
Did you set a Unique bundle ID in info.plist? com.mycompany.myapp
If none of that works you may have to delete your provisions and certificates and start again.
Do a restart of your whole system just to make sure if you reinstall any new certificates.
Restart xcode if you add a provision.
Do a full clean before building.

  • [iPhone] unexpected error (0xE800003A) - installing app to device

Hi, I'm running into the "Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application" error while trying to install and run my app on my iPhone
    Here is what I've verified
[1]. On my iPhone, Settings->General->Profile shows the Developer Provisioning profile I created on the developer program portal.
[2]. In XCode, Info.plist has the bundle identifier set to "net.companyName.AppName" (AppId on the dev program portal is magicNumber.net.companyName.AppName"
[3] Keychain Access shows a "Apple Worldwide developer certificate" and a "iPhone Developer: FirstName LastName" certificate". for the iphone developer certificate, it also shows a "FirstName LastName" private key.
[4a]. In XCode, after clicking Info icon for the project Target, I verified that "Code Signing Identity" and the next row ("Any Iphone OS device") are set to "iPhone Developer: FirstName LastName".
[4b] "Code Signing Provisioning Profile" and the next row ("Any iPhone OS device") are set to the developer provisioning profile mentioned in [1].
When I do a clean Build, I get a dialog that asks "codesign wants to sign ............"
However, if I attempt to "Build and Go", I get the 0xE800003A error message mentioned above.
Does anyone have suggestions on what trouble-shooting steps I can take to identify and fix the problem
Btw after running into the device installation problem mentioned above, I'm now running into problems with the simulator as well.
After a clean build, I tried to run the app with Active SDK set to the simulator.
However, now I get a "Failed to launch simulated application: iPhone Simulator failed to install the application." error. So I'm not even able to run the app in the simulator anymore.
(Btw I have the 2.0 SDK on my Mac. My iPhone has 2.1 on it. I'm assuming that this is a supported configuration.
I haven't installed the 2.1 SDK because I want to make sure that my app only relies on the 2.0 SDK and can run on 2.0 iphones.)

Hi, I've answered this on another thread, but I'll repost here... I think I may have encountered a simpler solution.
Rather then edit the Info.plist directly, you can use XCode to do this for you. However, your mileage may vary, this is only what worked for me!
The docs seem to be missing a couple of steps.
After you have edited the build info for your application (accessed by selecting 'Targets > APP_NAME' and then hitting 'Info' in the Xcode main navigation bar) click the 'properties' tab of the Info panel. Here you should see a number of fields (Executable, Identifier, Type, etc...).
By default you will see the Identifier field populated with the following: *com.mycompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}*, by simply changing this to *+your.domain+.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}*, your.domain being the domain you entered when you created your provisioning profile, you should be good to go!
So for example, say your company is +acme.com+, change your identifier to:
    *+com.acme+.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}*
If like me, you also have a wildcard provisioning profile (I named mine general), you might use something like this:
    *+com.acme.general+.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}*
This, of course, relies on you having created an App ID named +com.acme.general.*+. This is the profile I use to experiment with the Apple example apps.
    Hope this helps someone!

  • 2.1 and the dreaded 0xE800003A error

After upgrading to 2.1 I am now stuck in the dreaded 0xE800003A error and can no loger put my app on my iphone. Keep in mind it worked before the upgrade. Please help.
Heres what I have done so far.
    1) Upgraded to the latest SDK that supports 2.1, both device and SDK are on 2.1 compatible versions
    2) On SDK checked the 2.1 build, also tried 2.0
    3) Deleted all my certs and provisioning files and remade new ones
    4) Restored device (itouch)
    5) info.plist file I made sure it said com.company.appname, I also tried mynum.com.company.appname and com.company.appname.*
    6) Entitlements.plist I tried get-task-allow checked and unchecked
    7) Tried an older version that worked before Version 2.1
I am so lost on this, please someone help. I was working for months just fine, then all of a sudden 2.1 has crippled me.
    Thanks in advance, GenCode

  • ITunes error 0xE800003 when plug in + other errors

    Hi guys,
First of all, i would like to apologize for my English.
I have been searching for answers and solutions to my problem for a while, every discussions related to this errors, trying every ideas that should fix that. I never asked any questions here in apple support comunities because i am sure that almost every question, problem, errors, etc. have been already discussed, solved, fixed, etc. and i always found some solutions to fix my problems. UNTIL NOW. i ll try to explain every aspect, sorry if i forget on something.
    Here is the case:
On my COMPUTER (running XP/SP3) i was using iTunes 10.XXX dont know exactly, everything was fine, syncing, backup, etc. didnt have any problem when i was using this stuff: iPhone 4 ( 6.1.2) , iPad 3 (5.1.1.) , iPhone 4s (5.1.1.)
Then i decided to update my iPhone 4s to latest 7.0.2. . After installing, usual pop-up came up to instal iTunes 11.1. or above. Normal behaviour that i expected so then i updatet to latest iTunes 11.1.1.11 . After that instalation, problems started:
ERROR no.1) When i plug in any of my iDevices, iPhone 4, iPad 3, iPhone 4s, doesnt matter which one i plug in, iTunes pop-up with this error:
translation: iTunes cant connect to this iPad. An unknown error occurs (0xE8xxx..)
i was like ye ye surprise, this is why i didnt update that dumb iTunes for years until i had to because of iOS 7.
As usual, when some error in iTues pop-up, here comes the big G and my search all over the discussion, posts, fixes.
The list of things that i try to fix for error no.1) will be posted at the end of this post. Case continues:
ERROR no.2) After hitting OK i closed the iTunes and then this error pop-up:
translation of buttons: abort , retry , skip
The list of things that i try to fix for error no.2) will be posted at the end of this post. Case continues:
ERROR no.3) After hitting any of buttons (abort, retry, skip) another error pop-up:
i think i dont have to translate this.
Last button is dont send, so i hit that.
HERE IS THE LIST WHAT I ALREADY TRIED (advices from other threads that could help me):
    ERROR no.1)
    1. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3221  (from that list i didnt tried another PC, i dont have any more here)
    2. Change the name of iDevice
    3. Installed apple drivers in device manager
    4. Deleted lockodown folder
    5. Stopped,started mobiledeviceservice in services
    ERROR no.2)
i dont know what this error means, searched a little and make this:
    1. Instal Micro.. Visual C++ 2010
    2. Instal Micro.. Vusual C++ 2013
    ERROR no.3)
nothing, i was tottaly disapointed that nothing helped me.
Still the same error in iTunes, with any iDevice. After closing iTunes, still the same errors.
Guys, any advice that cant help me will be highly appreciated! I am sure that i am missing something, but i tried my best, now I turn myself to you guys.

Exactly the same is happening to me with Windows XP/SP3 (although with ipad - but the device doesn't matter). No troubleshooting helps - Apple needs to fix and update the iTunes software.

  • [iPhone] AppStore release problem

    Hi Guys,
I've got a little problem when I come to release an app.
I've watched the video regarding AppStore releases on iTunes and read all the other stuff, I think my xcode is all setup fine.
When I come to build the app using my release profile, it all builds fine. However when it comes to install the app on the phone, i get the error:
Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application
How can I fix this? To me it looks like the phone doesnt have the correct key install so it cant validate the app? I'm going to do a vanilla install of iPhone OS, any thoughts?

Hey, I'm having a somewhat similar problem in that my development builds all work fine, my app is debugged and ready for distribution build so i can upload to itunes connect but for some reason the distribution prov. profile is not showing up as an option under 'Code Signing Provisioning Profile' in project info (i have 'Code Signing Identity' set to 'iPhone Distribution: MYNAME').
I created a distribution certificate and distribution profile. I have both certificates in keychain access (development and distribution) as well as the WWDC certificate. i have a private/public key pair for each cert. i have the distribution provision file in the 'provision profiles' directory and it shows up under provisioning area under each device i have in 'organizer' (even tho i can't select it since it's distribution).
I have spent like three hours no trying to figure this out. (i even deleted/revoked both development and distribution certificates and prov. profiles and started over to no avail) Anyone have any idea???

It seems the interesting part is:
'application-identifier' has value not permitted by a provisioning profile
You aren't supposed to have to set the application identifier by hand. But if you were to do this, where would you do it? I don't see it in build info.

  • Installing iPhone application to device

when installing my application (directly from mac book to device) on my ipod touch i get following error:
"your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error 0XE800003A during the install phase: verifying application"
i have absolutly no clue why this error is caused.
there is a point in the documentation i dont really understand.
what is meant by the following:
To run your code on an Apple device, you will need to install iPhone OS onto each development device and "restore" each
    device to a development state.
how do i restore my device to a development state. it says i need to download an os from the iphone dev center. my problem is i cant find the download. am i blind, can someone plz send me a link. and is it at all necessary to install a different os?
btw. the error in the device console is:

thx for any help and suggestions.

I think I'm in a similar bind, but a step or two behind.
I just bought an imac to try and get an external developer's build working.
I've gone through the whole certificate process. One thing that is completely puzzling me is that when I connect the device with Xcode loaded, it doesn't detect anything. Nothing shows in Organizer as it says it should. The only way I could find the device was through iTunes. But it seems like I should just be able to plug the phone in and it will find it.
So I can't get to the part where I actually install the SDK on the phone, or get the prompt to use it as a development device. Am I missing something here?
    Any help would be great.

  • IPhone SDK - trouble working with iPod Touch 2G

Hello, new Macbook OSX 10.5.4, new iPod Touch running iPhone OS 2.1. Just downloaded and installed xcode 3.1.1 and newest iPhone SDK.
I read the iPhone OS Pre-Installation Advisory document found here:
    http://developer.apple.com/iphone/download.action?path=/iphone/iphoneos_software_preinstallation_advisory/iphone_os_2.1_preinstallationadvisory.pdf
    I created shortcut:
    .../iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1.1/
    pointed to:
    .../iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1/
    Checked the shortcut, it works.
Start xcode, open Window->Orgnizer. "Xcode cannot find the software image to install this version" is showing up just below the "Software Version" line. Software version has a value of 2.1.1 (5F138).
If I ignore this and continue to build, sign and try the application. I will receive an error message "Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application" I tried disconnect the iPod Touch, power off, power on. Same problem.
I tried to make a complete copy in (not a shortcut):
    .../iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1.1/
    Same problem.
What should I do to trace this issue?

I wanted to compile and upload the sample app Accelerometer Graph onto my brand new ipod touch 16.
I got the notorious error (0xE800003A) during the install phase, verifying.
i checked all the product id#'s which i just copied/pasted when creating the certificates etc.... so i don't know what's wrong... so what IS wrong?
    here's the logs:

  • Can't install on 2 different iPhones

I have followed all the steps in the portal, put 2 devices on the provisioning profile, and can successfully install my app on device 1. When I plug in device 2, it shows up correctly, it check the box to enable the profile. I clean all targets and build and I get the following error:
Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application
In the console I get the following errors:
    Thu Oct 23 10:58:47 unknown mobileinstallationproxy[102] <Error>: verify_executable: Could not validate signature: e8008015
    Thu Oct 23 10:58:47 unknown mobileinstallationproxy[102] <Error>: preflightapplicationinstall: Could not verify /var/tmp/install_staging.9TZE99/LocalPicks.app/LocalPicks
Thu Oct 23 10:58:47 unknown mobileinstallationproxy[102] <Error>: install_application: Could not preflight application install
    Thu Oct 23 10:58:47 unknown mobileinstallationproxy[102] <Error>: handle_install: Installation failed
Do I have to make a certificate that matches the name on the device as well? Why is installing development builds so difficult???

I had an issue recently where I could not run on one device, but I could on another. I restored the phone that wouldn't run and after the restore I was able to build and run fine.

  • Codesign failed problem

I have signed up for the $99 developer program, have followed all the instructions in all the documentation I can find, but I still cannot get the programs I have written onto the iPhone due to a codesign error.
The error message I get is: "Command/usr/bin/codesign failed with exit code 1"
I have downloaded the provisioning profile and installed it through the Organizer. I have gone into the Targets->Buil->Code Signing Identity and set it to my profile. I have ensured that the key is in the Keychain utility. I have attempted various names in the "info.plist" file for the Bundle ID.
Nothing seems to work. How did anyone out there with similar problems solve them?
Again, I HAVE READ THE DOCUMENTATION This problem is evidently not addressed in the documentation.

I've just started a series of blog posts regarding issues with Code Signing and Provisioning Profiles.
    Find it here: http://www.talentgrouplabs.com/blog/archive/2008/11/10/iphone-sdk-mobile-provisi oning-0xe800003a-0xe8000001.aspx

Should you run into subtle issues with code signing etc. I've started to collect additional information to the one provided by Apple's great guides here:
    http://www.talentgrouplabs.com/blog/archive/2008/11/10/iphone-sdk-mobile-provisi oning-0xe800003a-0xe8000001.aspx

    Hope this helps,
