1.6 - Database Object Dependencies invaluable!

Big thanks for the Database Object Dependencies Report!
As a future enhancement note, it would also be priceless to have a report(like what you currently provide) where you specify the DB Object and the report lists ALL applications/component/items that contain that db object (really helpful when we have to change a db object and then need to get all the HTMLDB applications modified for the change).
THanks again, Paula

You cannot create tables in SQL Workshop at your site because your schema doesn't have enough privileges. Privileges obtained through roles won't work. The public user's privileges are always irrelevant in html db.
Please run this script in your FOO schema which owns the tt table:create or replace procedure test_depend as
l_value varchar2(30);
l_boolean boolean;
begin
return;
for c1 in (select * from tt) loop null; end loop;
end;
select referenced_owner||':'||referenced_name||':'||referenced_type
from all_dependencies
where name = 'TEST_DEPEND'
/[pre]Just data gathering at this point.

  • Database Object Dependencies - only goes one level deep

    I've run the Database Object Dependencies report and it appears that the report only shows the top level dependencies and not lower level ones. Am I running this report incorrectly or is there something I'm missing.
    For example, it displays the tables and views correctly but does not show any triggers that have been created for a specific table. Additionally, I didn't see any references to database links being used.
    version: 3.1.1.00.09

    John,
    The report shows the immediate dependencies for the anonymous blocks and similar code snippets contained within the application components. It's just like if you did this:
    create table footab (n1 number)
    create trigger footrig before insert on footab for each row begin null; end;
    create or replace procedure fooproc
    as
    begin
    for c1 in (select n1 from footab) loop
    null;
    end loop;
    end;
    SQL> select referenced_name from all_dependencies where name='FOOPROC'
    2 /
    REFERENCED_NAME
    SYS_STUB_FOR_PURITY_ANALYSIS
    STANDARD
    FOOTAB
    SQL>
    The table FOOTAB is the only "real" object that the procedure FOOPROC has a dependency on. No mention of the trigger on the table.
    Additionally, I didn't see any references to database links being used.Yes, that would be a possible improvement to the report.

  • Bug - Database Object Dependencies report and Interactive Reports

    Hello,
    I think I found a bug, perhaps that not the right word, in the Database Object Dependencies report. I don't think it's including problems in Interactive Report regions.

    Scott,
    Sorry, that was a useless bug report... ;)
    What I was actually referring to was the little Parsing Errors report at the bottom of the page/report. I've come to rely on this quite a bit but I had an Interactive Report that was based in part on a table that was dropped and it was not displayed in the parsing errors. I believe the main report is working fine.

  • Retrieve all source database object names from an application in APEX 4.0

    Hello
    I have completed an application developed in APEX 4.0 ( @Oracle 10g database ).
    Now we need to migrate the scripts including all database objects that support the application from Schema A to Schema B.
    Is there a report I can run to provide me the information like this :
    Page number, Name of the database object used ( including table, view and sequence )
    This would allow me to examine each database object used in Schema A and make sure the same object and data have been copied to Schema B without missing anything.
    Thanks
    Susanna

    Hi,
    On APEX 4.1 there is Database Object Dependencies Report
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21674/bldr_app_rpt.htm#CEGGAICH
    I'm not sure is this feature in APEX 4.0

  • Solution Deployment Problem (Administrative Framework Object Dependencies)

    I'm having a problem with the deployment of a SharePoint workflow solution - hopefully someone can help me out.
    Here is the sequence of STSADM commands and their output from the console:
    C:\Workflows>stsadm -o deactivatefeature -name IL.SharePoint.Workflows -url http://localhost/ -force
    Operation completed successfully.
    C:\Workflows>stsadm -o uninstallfeature -name IL.SharePoint.Workflows -force
    Operation completed successfully.
    C:\Workflows>stsadm -o retractsolution -name IL.SharePoint.Workflows.wsp -local
    DeploymentSucceeded : server : The solution was successfully deployed.
    il.sharepoint.workflows.wsp: Operation completed with errors.
    C:\Workflows>stsadm -o deletesolution -name IL.SharePoint.Workflows.wsp
    Operation completed successfully.
    C:\Workflows>stsadm -o addsolution -filename IL.SharePoint.Workflows.wsp
    An object in the SharePoint administrative framework, "SPSolutionLanguagePack Name=0 Parent=SPSolution Name=il.sharepoint.workflows.wsp", depends on other objects which do not exist.  Ensure that all of the objects dependencies are created and retry this operation.
    IL.SharePoint.Workflows.wsp: The Solution installation failed.
    Here is the related log info from the SharePoint logs:
    error-redacted.txt
    As far as I can see, SP is attempting to insert a "SPSolutionLanguagePack" object into the configuration database, with an invalid foreign key reference to the solution. Obviously there is already something fishy going on during solution retraction as well..
    The only possible cause I can think of:
    The virtual machine(s) on which I'm trying to do this deployment (a test environment) were created from the production environment. Somehow, in the process of creating the virtuals, their OS's regional settings got reset to English/US from their desired setting. I've also got a warning in the event log (event id 2486) of the SP host, that the system locale has changed. Weird thing is that another test environment, created from the same set of virtuals and using the same solution package, is not experiencing this problem. Granted, that environment's regional settings were changed back to the desired values at some point, but I've tried doing the same in the problem environment without success.
    Needless to say it's critical for me to be able to test a deployment.. but what's more worrying is that this could occur in the production environment before I've figured out how to solve it.
    Any help much appreciated! :)

    we can deploy any components using solution package (WSP). The below steps ensures that Config refresh timer service occurs.
    1.     Stop the Windows SharePoint Timer Service
    2.     Open C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config\<<GUID>> folder
    3.     Take backup of Cache.ini file
    4.     Delete all the XML files in the GUID folder
    5.     Open the Cache.ini file in edit mode and delete the contents of it.
    6.     Type 1.Save and close the file.
    7.     Start the Windows SharePoint Timer Service.

  • How to get the List of Database Objects (Table/View) for a given APEX Page.

    Hi,
    I have an application and that consist of pages like page1,2,3,.....
    *1.* I want a report which can give me the list of all the Pages1,2,3,....
    I am using the following query to acheive this.... THIS IS FINE..
    select a.workspace, a.owner, a.application_name, b.page_id, b.page_name
      from apex_applications a,
           apex_application_pages b
    where a.workspace = b.workspace
       and a.application_id = b.application_id*2. Now, I want for each individual page*, the list all the database objects (tables/views), which that page is using.
    I am using ALL_DEPENDENCIES , but I am not getting the result.
    So, want to know if there any view/table, where I can get the Application Pages & there database object list...
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Hari,
    Thanks for the response.
    The view APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_DB_ITEMS will only give me the table name related to any Page Items defined to that page..It will not give me all the database objects..
    suppose we have a Page, having a report based on multiple tables and there is no Page items defined on that page, we will not have any value in this ....DB_ITEMS table. same thing if we have define some PL|SQL(using some table/view) in a Process, that will not be populated in .....DB_ITEMS table. I want some thing like all the database objects (table/views/function/procedure/.....) for a particular Page ID.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

  • Forced to remap one database object at a time

    Our application exposes a set of data objects (views) for external reporting. Field/row level data security conditions are built into the view definitions. Different access levels are segmented by schema names and in order to enable report reuse object names are identical between schemas.
    Users granted schema rights based on their access level.
    For example, user A is granted access only to the schema X which contains View1, View2, etc. while user B is granted access only to the schema Y which also contains View1, View2, etc.
    User A can reuse report created by user B (since object names are identical), however s/he cannot do it without first changing the data source location (since their access levels and therefore schema names are different).
    However, "Set Datasource Location" dialog (see sample screenshot below) does not allow one-click schema remapping. "Current Data Source" hierarchy does not directly expose schema name (it is listed as an "Owner" property of the individual table/view object) which forces user to remap one database object at a time by expanding top and bottom trees, highlighting matching objects and clicking "Update" button.
    Our question is: are there any menu items/settings or any other facilities in Crystal Report that would allow us to make re-mapping process less time-consuming?

    Hi Len,
    No, bottom line is the designer is used to "finalize" the report. It's not designed to be use this way. What I suggest you do is create an application that can set location/schema at view time to that person logging in. This way it's all done in the back end and relatively easy to do using one of our SDK's.
    Depending on what development tool and Report engine you use depends on which forum to post your question to. SAP will not create the application for you so you will need to get a developer involved.

  • BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE error: valuated with object dependencies

    Hi expert,
    having programmed an extension for a customer for automatic maintenance of characteristic values of technical object, we have come across an error.
    When using BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE to change a characteristic followed by BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT (without wait) we have two scenarios:
    1. if the technical object has no value in the characteristic before calling  BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE  the characteristic will be set.
    2. if there is already a value set there is an error stating
    Characteristic 'XYZ' valuated with object dependencies (old value '00')
    However, I can't find a dependency definition in CT04. do you know what's wrong here,or what is a usual cause of that?
    thanks

    Hi,
    I cannot seem to find a bug or forum reference for this issue at the moment, but I recall there was some problem on 10g connections where SQL Developer thinks you have DBA view privileges even when you don't. So, on 11g, a user with very basic privileges can do a Find DB Object without seeing the error you got on 10.2.0.4. On 10.2.0.x you should be able to workaround the problem if you can arrange to get grant select_catalog_role for that userid.

  • Variant configuration-- syntax error in creation of object dependencies

    In variant configuration when i try to create object dependency (tcode=cu01), after entering the dependency and also description when i enter the syntax in the source code it is giving error: error in syntax check for simple condition
    I have entered syntax as  : engine_cap in ('1000','1400','2000'), pls guide me with the solution to create object dependency

    Dear, Shakeer
    Please follow along with my very own config guide of variant config.
    1)     Create a configurable Material Using KMAT u2013Material Type. Item Category 0002 and Item Category Group 0002. Go to classification tab-here you maintain the class type 300 and assign the class, we will create this shortly. (So after creating class come back into MM02 and input the class that you create in step 2.)
    2)     Create a class in T-Code CL01. Use class type 300 for Variants. In this we assign the characteristics we will create shortly.
    3)     Create characteristics in T-Code CT04. Create your characteristic like for example, Z_Type, Z_Model, and Z_Color.
    4)     We must create a characteristic for the pricing. Example, Z_CarPrice inside this characteristic we must maintain. Table Name SDCOM, Field Name VKOND in the additional data tab. Also, go to restrictions tab and enter the class type 300 Variants. Now in order to make this pricing work for you, you must maintain (enter) all the values from the characteristics. For example, Red, Blue, Black, Honda, Toyota, GLI, XLI, and 2.0D.
    5)     Now going back to the characteristics in CT04 change mode. Make sure Basic Data has *Multiple Selections circled. * Character Format has 26 and a check in case sensitive. Make sure in restrictions tab class type 300 Variants is present. Go back to Values and highlight the first one. Example, Red then go to Extras->Object Dependencies->Assignments You must maintain this code $self.Z_CarPrice=u2019Redu2019 in basic data make sure itu2019s released & procedure is filled in. Go back to dependency editor and paste the same code there after 000010 $self.Z_CarPrice=u2019Redu2019 and do this for each and every value. Very Important * Maintain configuration profile in T-Code CU41 for the material -> Priority 01, Variant Configuration, Class 300, status, Released 1, then click save. Note: If 2 conditions are inactive use class group A instead of B in SPRO for Condition type VA00.
    6)     Go to T-Code VK11 and enter VA00 condition type. Enter all the values maintained in the characteristics for example, Red, Blue, Black, Toyota, Etc and enter the price then click on save. Now it should work fine in VA01. Make sure you have assigned the VA00 condition type in the pricing procedure.
    Good Luck,

    I am getting the following error when i am trying to migrate the form to apex using application migration.
    "*Database schema SCM does not contain the associated database objects for the project, aafs.*

    Actully i am having one schema which i named as SCM, and i have defined one table TT.
    I created one form test.fmb in which i used TT table.its compiled successfully.
    Then i generated the xml file using frmf2xml from fmb file. After that, I created the project in appication migration wizard in SCM schema.
    Project creattion is working fine.but when i m trying to create application,it is showing me above error.
    can any one help in solving this problem.

    Hi Hilary,
    Thanks for your response/feedback.
    1. The schema associated with the project does not contain the necessary objects Can you please verify that the schema associated with your Forms conversion project does in fact contain the objects associated with the uploaded files. Could you also verify that the object names referenced in the error message do not exist within the schema associated with your workspace. Ensure that the schema associated with the project contains the necessary database objects before proceeding to the generation phase of the conversion process.

    2. The block being converted contains buttons, which may have been incorrectly identified as database columns, and included in the original or enhanced query associated with your block This is a known issue ,bug 9827853, and a fix will be available in our upcoming 4.0.1 patch release. Some possible solutions to this issue are:
    -> delete the buttons before generating the XML
    -> delete the button tags from the XML
    -> add "DatabaseItem=No" for the button in the XML file before importing it in Apex.The button is excluded when creating the Application.

    For my migration/testing purpose a dabatase link and synonyms have been setup by our ORACLE DBA. Could this be causing this problem?
    Do we know when the fix 4.0.1 patch release will be available?

  • Function modules (and the like) for testing Object Dependencies in PLM

    Hi all,
    I've created an upload program for characteristic values to AUSP, but I need to <b>check the object dependencies</b> (as shown in transaction CU03) before saving the data.
    I have the list of the dependencies for the characteristic in question, but how can I perform a dependency check in program code? Is there any <b>function modules</b> (and the like) which I can use?
    All helpful answers will be rewarded!

    Thanks!
    I'm not that familiar with BAPIs, which transactions can I use to check it out? Transaction BAPI? And how do I locate it in the BAPI Explorer? How do I perform the method call?
