1 Data Source two charts

I am working on something that uses an ilog Elixir map. When
you click on an object in the map I want to populate a pie chart
and a bar chart with xml data. Currently I have the clcik of the
map item filling the pie chart with xml data but I am not sure how
to also send data to the pie chart at the same time.
XML sample
<US>
<state id="CA" >
<data name="data1" value="3" />
<data name="data2" value="5" />
<data name="data3" value="10" />
<funds name="city" value="1"/>
<funds name="county" value="2"/>
<funds name="state" value="3"/>
</state>
</US>
On my map I use mapItemClick to send the data to the pie:
mapItemClick="pie.dataProvider = xml.state.(@id ==
event.mapFeature.key).data"
and the pie is set up to pull the name and value from the
.data in the xml:
<mx:PieChart showAllDataTips="true" left="20" bottom="20"
width="100" height="100" >
<mx:series>
<mx:PieSeries id="pie" nameField="@name" field="@value"
/>
</mx:series>
</mx:PieChart>
Is it possible for that click to send .data (name and value)
to the pie and .funds (name and value) to another chart? Any ideas?
Thanks
Jeff

Create a [Bindable] instance variable typed as an
arrayCollection. eg: private var _acUSStates:ArrayColection
Bind the dataProvier of whatever you want to that variable.
For example:
<mx:PieSeries id="pie" dataProvider="{_acUSStates}"
nameField="@name" field="@value" />
Bind your other chart the same way.

• 2 data sources in same chart in Visual Composer

Hoping you can answer a question for me.
Do you know if there is a way in Visual Composer to combine the output of 2 data sources into the same chart or table?
Here is an example of what I am after.
Inside BW, we currently have sales history for the company (i.e. monthly sales numbers). We can use a BW query as data source for this data.
Now we have found some interesting web services that provide 'market' type data,( i.e. some economic indicator) that we'd like to corrolate to these sales. We'd like to also chart the monthly value of this external indicator on same chart. I can use an external web service as a data source for this data. Howveer, VC seems to only allow me to send the output of this service to a separate chart/table. This is not ideal. I'd rather be able to incorprate in same chart.
If this is not possble, can Web Application designer consume web services? If so, I'd be fine with doing whole application with this tool.

Hi Brad,
Technically it is possible to combine to data souces using COMBINE, UNION operators. So the resulting table contains columns of two data souces.
You can use this resluting table to create a chart.
I have not checked this uisng web services. But it should be possible.
Thanks,
Venkata

• Create two or more data sources and mapping to DSO

Hi,
I´m using SAP Netweaver BI 7.0.
If there are two or three data sources which have to be mapped to DSO which field from Data Sources has to be mapped to which field in DSO?
Is it possible to have only one DSO or should it be three DSOs because of the three Data Sources?
The thing is I have created one view out of three tables. For the view I have created one DSO. Everything worked fine. But now the requirements have changed because of currencies.
The view I have created is now mixing currencies because in the view is only one currency field, which is filled from the three tables. Two tables have different currencies and one table has one currency.
The one currency of the one table is important and should stay like it is.
I´m thinking about something like three different currency key fields in DSO which are mapped from data source. Also for every field of data source mapping with corresponding field in DSO.
Some hints? I have found articles in SDN about creating data sources and so on but they don´t help me in this matter.
Thank you in advance!

Thank you guys for explaining! I´m new to SAP BW and trying to better understand.
I`ll try it also with the view. It sounds "easier".
But if I´m doing it with the 3 data sources, that means that for each currency field of the data source I will need an corresponding currency field in the DSO for mapping.
Is it possible to have 3 times the 0Currency field in the DSO and each data source currency field will be mapped to the DSO?
If that would work the 0Currency has to be contained in the key figures.
But if the 0Currency is contained in each key figure will the assignment of currency work correct?
+For example:+
Data Source1:
Turnover in Euro.
(All currency is in Euro)
Data Source2:
Profit in Dollar.
Profit in Euro.
Profit in Yen.
Profit in different currencies available.
Data Source3:
Sales in Dollar.
Sales in Euro.
Sales in Yen.
Sales in different currencies available.
For mapping from DataSources to DSO if it is possible to have 3 times 0Currency in DSO:
Data Source1 currency fiield ---> DSO 0Currency
Data Source2 currency fiield ---> DSO 0Currency
Data Source3 currency fiield ---> DSO 0Currency
Does it make sense?

• Report using two different data sources won't work.

I'm trying to build a report that shows information from a production table and an archive table.
Tables are in different databases, which are defined as their own Data Sources in Publisher.
Two data sets containing the same query but using different Data Sources are defined in the Data Model.
When selecting option 'Concatenated SQL Data Source' the report never completes.
If any of the two Data Sets is selected as the Main Data Set, the report shows information related to that source only.
Any hints on how to make this work would be appreciated.
Thanks.
ccastillo

More details on this issue:
The production database has a synonym pointing to the archive database. I build a query using a UNION ALL statement linking both tables.
For the same set of parameters, this query completes in a couple of minutes outside BI Publisher, but never ends (I cancel after an hour) inside Publisher.
Is there any special considerations for the use of synonyms inside Publisher?

• How to use two RFC models in one Data Source for a Interactive Form UI Elem

Hi
I want to use two RFC models (two Function Modules from a SAP Backend system) in one context node of a View Controller in order to pass it as the data source to a Interactive Form UI element. Can I use the data binding mechanism directly or have I to copy the data into a Value Node within the view controller.
Thanks for helping
René Morel
SAP (Schweiz) AG

Rene,
You can create a local context node in component controller and copy the data from both the RFC's to this node, then bind it to the view controller. Then you can make this view context node as the datasource of the interactive form.

• Assigning a Data Source to a Chart via JavaScript

Dear all,
Is it possible to assign a Data Source to a Chart via coding ?
something like :
CHART_1.setDataSource ...
Many thanks
Hans

I ran into the same problem. You can't dynamically switch DataSources for a chart, however, you can re-assign a DataSource to a different query.
I have a chart assigned to DS_1:
On startup, I need to check a flag, and use a different query based on the value of the flag.
Since I can't dynamically switch the DataSource for the chart, I simply switch the query that feeds the DataSource like this:
I hope this helps.

• PerformancePoint - 2010 Scorecard filter based on two data sources (Actual - OLAP/Target - Sharepoint List)

Hi
I have KPI's for tasks performed by specific groups within our organization, the actuals are determined by an MDX tuple formula against an AS OLAP data source:
([Change Task Assignment Group].[Group Subtype].&[GDC PM], [Measures].[Average task duration - m]) /1440
The Task Name is provided by a filter, also looking at the AS OLAP data source.
This woks well and allows us to have a single scorecard for the team, providing actuals depending on the task selected from the filter. The problem comes in setting targets for the KPI's! I can only set one target for each KPI and this is
the same for which ever task is selected via the filter. The target is stored in a SharePoint list.
Is it possible to have targets for the different tasks driven by the same filter? Can a single filter be configured to return values from two data sources to both the Actual KPI value and the Target value?
Thanks

A good solution. Liked it very much. Can you please make it a technet blog for others.

• Accessing two data sources in one method

I wanted to access two connection pools in one EJB project. I manage to create two connection pools in weblogic server and I successfully wrote the lookup code. I wanted to call these two data sources in one method. But it only gives result from one data source connection. other is null. Im getting following message also
Connection has already been created in this tx context for pool named jdbc_informix_pool. Illegal attempt to create connection from another pool: JDBC_informix_webdata
"jdbc_informix_pool" and "JDBC_informix_webdata" is the names of my connection pools. the two data sources works perfectly when they are accessed separately. but whenever im tryng to call two data sources in one method it retrive data from only one data source and gives me above message.
anyone know how to fix it.?
thnx
sameera

hi...
thnx man.. it worked. But there is another problem. I cant close my data source connection. whenever im tryng to close it, it says
Result set already closed
i manage to run my program without closing the data source connection. but after a while it says
No resources currently available in pool JDBC_informix_webdata to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry
i can increase the size of the pool and run my program. but i guess if I close the data source connection this will be resolved. But how can I close my data source connection. I tried finally clause. but it gives me the result set already closed message
how can i do it.?

• Two Pages and Layout from One Data Source

Hi
I need to find a solution where i can based on if a flag in the data is true or not generate a 2nd page which is slightly different in layout to the 1st page.
But at this moment in time i'm struggling to understand how i can even get crystal to generate a 2nd page.
Background is that our system generates a delivery note with a price on it and as a part of new legislation now there has to be a 2nd page provided for the end user. Now we have a data source linked to the report and we would just like to pass in another field which is true/false to print End User Page.
So if the flag is true i need to create a Delivery page and a end user page and if false then only the Delivery page would be generated.
I just need some guidance as to how we may achieve this. Iu2019m ok with crystal but not really done advanced level reports hence why iu2019m probably stuck.
Thanks for any advice in advance

And i suppose i could suppress any other fields from page one based on the same flag. But ideally as they layout is common i was hoping not to have to do a subreport to lay it all out again.
Could i not based on a flag on the group footer or header say if this flag is true start a new page and then on the feilds the ones i want to hide or show say something like if page two and x is ture then show or hide as need be??

• Data-source.xml -  BaseResourceException - two phase commit

Hi,
I am seeing the following exception. Please let me know how to fix this.
thanks
Sunita
com.sap.engine.services.connector.exceptions.BaseResourceException: The resource "xxx" does not support two-phase commit and cannot be enlisted in the current transaction, because another non supporting two-phase commit resource is already enlisted for component "webContainer/applications/JavaEE/YY-TPRO/YYr-TPRO" in application "JavaEE/YY-TPRO". Only one of the enlisted resources is allowed to be non two-phase commit compliant.
I am using JDBC 1.x datasource, and the .xml looks like this:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

</data-source>
</data-sources>

HI,
Thanks for the response, I already went through these threads.
My exception seems to be related to this - Problem with connection sharing if J2EE transaction is running
and suggested solutions seems to be:
The problem is caused when there is an inappropriate attempt to open a second connection in an active JTA transaction. There is either an attempt to get a second connection from an un-shareable non-XA DataSource or an attempt to get it from another non-XA DataSource. You have to:
● Use no more than one connection from this data source while the JTA transaction is active or
● Declare the data source as shareable, depending on your application logic.
Question is, How can I make data source as shareable??
This application worked fine in JBoss, weblogic and now we are trying to port it to NetWeaver.
Is any of the above options are configurable in data-sources.xml?
Thanks for your guidance and response.

• Infospoke with two data source

Hi all,
is there a way in an Infospoke to include infoobjects belonging to two different data source?
tks,
Federico

Hello Frederico,
as far as I know you can only use one data source of type InfoObject, basic cubes or ods in an infospoke. Perhaps Analyses Process Designer (APD) may help you to achieve your goal. You can use it to join your InfoObject into a new one, or create a transactional ODS with the desired data. These new objects can than be used in an infospoke. And you can use a process chain to put all required steps in the right order.
Kind regards,
Jürgen

• MS Excel as data source - Cannot create chart views

Hi,
I created a model with sql server and excel as the data sources. Most of the numerical data is coming from excel.
In Answers, I created a table view and it showed me all the data (Eg months, budget amount, plan amount, actuals amount ). But when I tried to create a chart view, it is giving me an error like it requires atleast one measure to create or draw a chart. I am taking Month on x -axis ad all the other columns like budget, plan , actual on y axis.
Not sure y its behaving like this
Did anyone encoured similar issue?
Please help...
Thanks

Events can be used in CE to trigger one report after another.
In CMC, define a new event, Schedule type, based on success. Then schedule your first report, setting Events to Trigger Upon Completion to include this new event. Sechedule your second report to run at the same time, except select the new event in the Events to Wait For section. The second report will wait until the first report completes successfully before starting to execute.
Another possible way is to use Object Packages. However, if such a package is run on a report server that allows multiple reports to run simultaneously, I think the multiple reports in the package will run at the same time. (This would have to be verified, as I am not positive.) But if the report server that the object package is scheduled to run under was single threaded, they would probably execute in order.

• Collecting data from two R3 source systems

Dear All,
Scenario:
We are in the process of implementing SAP BI 7.0 in our organisation.
We have a single BI server (7.01) collecting data from two source
systems from two different divisions within the group.
The first system is of Company 1 where we have IS u2013 MILL (ECC 6.0).
BI has been implemented and running successfully in this unit. Now we
have started implementing BI in the second unit u2018Company 2u2019
where the industry specific solution IS u2013 AFS (ECC 6.0) is the source
system.
We are activating BI Standard Content for AFS. When we try to upload
master data, we face a problem.
The master data (0Division, 0Mat_Grp_3, etc.) is already loaded with
IS Mill data (data from the first source system). Now when the data is
loaded from IS AFS (second source system), wherever, the same key
exists in the info object, we notice that the existing data is
overwritten by the freshly loaded data, thus causing loss of existing
data.
A typical example is as follows:
BW Data u2013 Source system 1 u2013 (Before upload of data from source system
2):
0Division
99         EN          Stock Transfer Out
AFS Data (Source system 2) -
0Division
99         EN             STO
BW Data u2013 Source system 1 u2013 (After upload of data from source system 2):
After uploading the master data from AFS, the Values areu2026
0Division
99        EN            STO
The original data is lost.
Similar problem is noticed with other master data as well.
Please suggest the right methodology for upload of master data when
data to BW is sourced from two systems. How to retain the data in the
same Infoobject but at the same time maintain distinction between the
data from the two systems.
We donu2019t find any specific mention of such scenarios in the standard
documentation.
Will such a problem recur when we upload transactional data?
Regards,
Aslam Khan

Hi Aslam,
Please use some compounding attribute for your master data object like Sourcesystem ID. While loading the master data from different source systems... you should have two different flows to fill the same master data object. In each flow you can specify the Source system ID as constant value ... eg SS1 (Source system 1) and SS2(Source system 2) in each of the data flows. This should solve your issue without overwriting your master data
Thanks

• Linking two lists to create a Data Source but cannot add web part to page in SharePoint designer

All;
I created a new data source by linking two lists which created a linked Data Source. I now want to access that linked data source via insertion of a Data Source control on a web part page.
What I find is, both DATA SOURCE and DATA VIEW are inactive and unselectable.
Is there any way to get this functionality going?
Thx
Larry Pexter

Hi Larry,
Since it is a coding UI, we need to put cursor into appropriate place so we can insert data view web part, i.e. the coding which represents the web part in to the whole coding part.
As I tested in my envrionment, if you put cursor between <ZoneTemplate> and </ZoneTemplate>, I cannot get the DATA view, even before </ZoneTemplate>. Please put it exactly before <ZoneTemplate>.
If you have modify the coding, please click save and test the issue again.

• ADF Service Interface: two-phase commit issue for multiple data sources

In FusionApps, For a service interface we had to use two DataSource resources (in the ejb-jar.xml),
one is ApplicationServiceDBDS for SI and the other one is ApplicationDBDS(I don’t know the exact reason why this is needed, but when running the webservice, Framework was throwing an error asking for this) After adding these two, now(while running the webservice) we’re caught up with an error saying that unable to participate in two phase commit. I think this is because we added two dataSources, if we just use one dataSource everything is working fine.
Error message from app server:
"JDBC driver does not support XA, hence cannot be a participant in two-phase commit. To force this participation, set the GlobalTransactionsProtocol attribute to LoggingLastResource (recommended) or EmulateTwoPhaseCommit for the Data Source=ApplicationDB"
we have made the changes to ApplicationDB as said in the error message, but then the server is failing to start because of this.

Hi,
this is what the doc says - though not about two phase commit but transaction sharing:
"At runtime, the calling client and the ADF service may or may not participate in the same transaction, depending on the protocol used to invoke the service (either SOAP or RMI). Only the RMI protocol and a Java Transaction API (JTA) managed transaction support the option to call the service in the same transaction as the calling client."
When your application accesses a remote ADF Business Components service, each remote call is stateless, and the remote service will not participate in the same transaction as the business component that uses a service-enabled application module's service interface.
In the majority of the cases, calls to remote services will be informational in nature and will not make changes to remote objects. However, if you must use a remote service to make changes, then keep these points in mind:
An exception thrown by the remote service will cause the local transaction to fail.
If you successfully call a remote service that results in modifying data, and then subsequently your local transaction fails for any reason, then it is the responsibility of your error handling code to perform a compensating transaction against the remote service to "undo" the previous change made."
