1001 VOX USB 2.0 problems

Hello, my name is Dushan, i am from Belgrade, Serbia; and i apologise for my lousy english.
I have several problems with my VOX card, or more precisely with software shipped with it, MSIPVS (WinDVR).
1. Channel viewing
With the original version which came from VOX cd, due to the software error on WinDVR, settings very often revert from PAL-B to NTSC leading from time to time to the COMPLETE loss of the channel list. To put it simply if i want to watch TV i must spend more then three hours every other day typing in the channel names.... With the newest MSIPVS 3 downloaded, i have even more problems.... Sure I can export the channel list, but autoscan stops after 125 channels, finds approximately 10 tv channels of 100+ available and then i am presented with the briliant option to input frequencies manualy.....
Oh, i almost forgot > modify & delete buttons look very nice shaded out and unselectable.....
2. Teletext
What teletext?
MSIPVS just doesnt like it. After all the combinations I have tried with bundled software, i finaly managed to find 3rd party (more like 10th) software which actualy works from time to time ...
3.   Recording
This is the point where I just gave up...
I tried almost everything, dont know how many mpeg 2 encoders i have tried out with all the settings i could think of before i managed to get rid of (don't know how to put it) "white noise straps in the bottom of the recording"
mpeg 4 recording? HOW? There isnt a single option leading to it....
4. Power suply
Well, this is more a question, when i plug it in VOX just stops working, i presume that its getting all the power it needs from USB ?
5. Money
Average monthly wages in Serbia are around 200 euros. Price of VOX is 80 e, + cost of software to make it work = more then one month salary
And still I can not watch TV...
And in Belgrade it isnt possible to return something to store because it "doesnt work for you". If you bought it, and it is technically faultless then you're stuck with it.
6. Help!!!!

I know this is a little bit offtopic, but I always thought that VOX don't allows teletext and I am interested in that software that suports teletext. Can you tell me wath software you are using?
BTW I had a lot of problems too with the VOX (audio/video out of sync, dropped frames, etc), and since I use ChrisTV all of them disappeared.

  • InterVideo WinDVR encountered a problem and needs to close (VOX USB 2.0)

    Device: MSI VOX USB 2.0
    Driver: vox_1.1.0505.0.zip
Software: msipvs_8609.zip (both driver and windvr software were download from official MSI site).
Machine: Dell Latitude D600 with 1G memory
Symptom: Installed ok, during starting the following is popuped:
InterVideo WinDVR Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Searching the forum I found one posting relating that to QuickTime codecs installed by Nero. But It is not the case on my machine.
I downloaded the trial version of WinDVR3 from InterVideo web site and it works correctly. Anyone experience similiar problem. Any suggestion/instruction is deeply appreciated.

Just partially solved the problem by download the beta driver. At least now the MSIPVS program starts ok. The four problems remain are:
    1. It won't load the channel file upon startup. Have to manually load the file before changing channels
    2. the control (channel up/down, power off) doesn't work
    3. the unit won't turn off (the led light is still on after exit the program)
    4. don't know how to use the teletxt program included.
    Any direction/comment is deeply appreciated.

  • Sound Problem VOX USB

    hi there,
I just bought a MSI vox USB tv card and I can't seem to get the audio to work.  The video image is ok, but how do I connect the sound since i have no audio line in ??? i tried it with the mic port, but i don't get any sound, just some noise...
I do have an S-video connection...maybe i can do something with that ?
also, is it possible to connect speakers directly to the TV card ? how would i do that since the plugs are different..
    any help is appreciated
    Nick

    They are plug and play.
I did try unplugging all of the USB devices and then powered off the computer and unplugged it for about 5 minutes as I heard that that sometimes solves USB problems. However, upon reconnecting the problem returned. All other USB devices seem to be working normally - it's only the Bose sound system. I tried plugging it into a different USB port in the back of the computer but the problem continued after about 10 minutes. Therefore, I am convinced this is not hardware related.
At this point I am thinking I need to reinstall OS X Snow Leopard to undo whatever Tinker Tool damaged. Is it possible to just replace the USB drivers in OS X without reinstalling everything?

  • Msi vox usb 2.0 remote/sound problems

please help! i just purchased a new MSI VOX USB 2.0 external tv tuner and i'm having lots of problems...
    1. the dial on the side of the box that is supposed to turn the tuner on/off or change channels doesn't do a thing.
    2. the remote doesn't work at all
    3. sound - i'm using this on a notebook computer and i don't have a line in port. i assume i would be able to just go through the microphone port but it is not so. in the options under properties>device, i can only choose the audio input source to line in (which i don't have) or cd audio (?). it doesn't even work if i set my computer recording settings to 'microphone'... even though i CAN record the microphone input in a sound recording program, i can't hear in in real-time... right now the only way i can hear the TV is to connect the audio cable through my desktop's line in! i can't even hook my speakers directly into the box because the pin hole is too small to fit a normal audio jack...
is my only solution to buy some sort of audio pin converter so i can hook my speakers/headphones directly into the box??
i've downloaded the newest drivers and they don't help at all with any of my problems.
i'm using a notebook computer with windows xp...
please help! thanks very very much!!

I had/have the same problem, with a Dell Laptop running windows XP.
my first solution was to buy a male-male audio connector and hook it directly to my speakers, but having to switch from that and my computer wasn't much fun, I found another work around.
I bought snapstream's beyond TV, and everything has worked well, and I like the snapstream software better than the default software, anyway.  The only problem is that you can't use the composite or S-video inputs, as far as I can tell.  (and having to spend $50 on another piece of software, but use the trial version first to make sure it works)

VOX USB 2.0 TV tuner problem

    Quote
Have you tried checking all the audio settings to make sure sound isn't muted somewhere on line in?
This should not matter.   The volume level of LINE-IN, yes, but the muted status?  No.  The VOX software takes control of the mute status on LINE-IN to control the signal input from the VOX.   Kind of a crappy design decision, as it means that the LINE-IN has a CONSTANT audio signal coming in, and if there's a glitch that kicks off LINE-IN's mute, you'll be  blasted by whatever audio is coming off the VOX at max volume.  When you deactivate the tuner software, it's supposed to reactivate the MUTE.
So, having MUTE on is perfectly normal.

  • PAL 60hz on VOX USB ???? Help!

    Hi
I've just bought a MSI VOX USB to play with my videogames consoles on the tft screen of my portable thinkpad, but I've a problem with the 60Hz mode.
In fact, the VOX work good in NTSC 60Hz, but in PAL I can't play in 60Hz! It's work, but the games appeared black and white...   So, if I want to play in color, I've to play in 50hz mode but that's sux >_
Why can we play in PAL 60hz? Can I found something to upgrade the vox or the InterVideo program
(I play on a portable, so I can't change the refresh rate of the screen)
    Thanks in advance

I know that NTSC is 60hz et PAL 50Hz, but there is also PAL 60Hz
In general, PAL consoles don't support S-Video signal, there are composite or rgb scart...
So if the Vox support NTSC 60Hz, why is it impossible to support also the Pal 60hz? It may be possible

  • Unable to instal VOX USB 2.0 drivers in WINDOWS XP Prof. SP2

    Hi,
I am unable to instal drivers in Windows XP Prof. SP2 for VOX USB 2.0. When I instal drivers from manufacturer's CD, instalation tells me, that it cannot instal some update for XP SP1. But I have SP2, so it should be OK. Then, after computer restart, I connected VOX and windows could not recognize it and asked me for drivers. I tried to instal drivers manually from the cd, but windows always tells me, that it cannot find driver on CD. I tried to download latest drivers from MSI website, but I had the same problem with it. What should I do? I am unable to use the TV tuner
Could anybody write me exact procedure how to instal it, please please!
    Thank You very much.
(I have tried to instal it on another computer with Windows XP Prof. SP2 and it did not work also. The same problem.)

Yes, my system has USB 2.0. It is P4 2.4GHz Northwood, motherboard: MSI 648 Max, 1GB of DDRAM (333MHz), MSI GeForce 4 MX 460, SoundBlaster Live! player 1024, pci card with aditional USB 2.0 ports (NEC chipset), SIS 900 pci NIC, 2x WesternDigital Caviar 1200JB, pci IDE controller SiliconImage 0680a (harddisks are not connected as RAID), DVD-ROM Pioneer, DVD burner LG GSA-4163B.
I have tried to connect VOX directly to USB port on motherboard and also to NEC USB pci card, but it did not work anyway.
I have disconnected all USB devices from the computer, except the mouse.
Windows is updated from MS Windowsupdate website.  I use Windows XP SP2 firewall and Microsoft Antispyware beta and antivirus software (I have tried to turn them off during the TV VOX installation, but it did not help).
And I  also use power supply for TV VOX.

  • Msi pvs does not see my vox usb tv tuner

my friend gave me a vox usb tv tuner so i installed the driver and the msi pvs software but the pvs software says "cannot detect device...."
anyone know wat i could do about this????

First of all the vox usb tv tuner will operate on Xp home SP2.
If you open the device manager, then Sound, video and game controllers you will probably see that USB2820 has been installed.
You must have MSI MS8609 Video installed as MSI PVS or MSI PVS 3 will only talk to the drive of this name.
Both drivers are provided by eMPIA technology and maybe the vox identifies itself as USB2820.
You will notice I posted the same problem a few days ago.
A partial solution I found was to uninstall USB2820 drivers and install the MSI MS8609 Video driver.  I have not been able to install the driver of 2005 as found on the
MSI site but can install the 2004 version that came with my vox CD.  The partial solution is the schedule/record function of MSI PVS 3 does not work with this driver so
I must run MSP PVS for the schedule/record function.

  • Install help on VOX USB 2.0

I have made several attempts to install the VOX USB 2.0 on my system
(MSI RS482M4 MB w/ AMD 3000+ processor and 1 GB memory, XP Home SP2).
I have downloaded the latest driver from MSI and it installs and it recognises the VOX.  Then I installed the MSIPVS application.  When I run it I get an error telling me the application must close.  I have also installed the WINDVD application:  it works but slowly.
I did get one semi operating install of MSIPVS, but it had no sound.  When I looked, the sound driver (Realtek 5.10.0.5178 from the MSI web site) had disappeared.  When I reinstalled it, I was back to the original error message
I would appreciate any help on how to resolve this.  I had great hopes for this product since I am using a recent MSI mainboard and the latest drivers.  If there is another application to replace the MSIPVS, I'd be game to try that.
    Chuck!@#$

    I have the same problem.
When using the drivers from the original CD MSIPVS crash, disabling the Realtek in the bios, msi pvs runs fine and the image is good, off course i have no sound.
Using the new drivers and the new msi pvs 3 from msi site ,  everything runs fine, driver installation, msipvs 3, but the image is very slow.
i have tried intervideo DVD Recorder 5 , intervideo home theater, none of them is stable with the VOX USB 2.0,using any of their drivers.
    Realtek HD drivers ver.1.30
    any sugestion?
    Thanks, Nuno

  • VOX USB 2.0 and AC Adapter?

I was thinking of getting the MSI VOX USB 2.0 MS-8609 (No -10 on the end.). I had downloaded the manual and from reading some of the questions on here I get it that function will improve if I also use the optional AC Adapter with it to supply the power.
What I want to know is the specs of this AC adapter so I can see if I have one already which will work or to buy one. Thank you for your time.

Fromwhat I have learned form other boards is thatthis device is not worth getting, so I'm going to cancel my order. Its too bad concidering that I already have 3 other things in my system from MSI now and I've had no problems at all with them.

  • VOX USB 2.0 channel changes itself

I bought a VOX USB 2.0 Tuner today. After installing it the MSIPVS software keeps change channels from 1 to 11 to 111 and it won't stop! I reinstalled and that didn't seem to help but it seems the program keeps it's settings in the registry or something since it kept the chnl names I entered from my first install. If anyone has any idea what I can do about this that would be nice!
PS Running Windows XP SP2, Athlon XP, ATI Radeon 9200 agp.

    I had this problem also...
but all i did to solve it was to end task wincinemamgr.exe and restart it.
also there is  a new version of the msipvs software available to test.
