10g Archives issue

Hi Gurus,
DB version -- 10.2.0.4, Os version - windows 2003.
I have created a test database, which no user can conenct to (Standalone db for testing purpose), now, whats interesting to see is that in this state too (i.e. no user connected) my database is generating archives of upto 1.5 GB in a span of 5 minutes. Can anyone please let me know as to why and how can this be happening? Any help would be really appreciated.
Regards,
Ajinkya
P.S My archive_lag_target=0, I have 5 redo groups each of 50 MB.

    Thanks,

    Graphics no longer exists in Developer Suite 10G. You have to replace the functionality , e.g. by using BI Beans. Have a look at the samples page http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/forms/index.html

    3. Select Write (Maintain a new variant, specify the purchase requisitions that need to be archived, processing options - production mode untick delete with test variant, detail log : complete --- save (leave value maintenance - YES)
    At this stage i identified sometimes the archive file gets created in our specified path and sometimes it doesnt and we get the error mentioned above)
    4. Select Delete (Archive selection - specify the file)
    As for the customizing settings
    Archiving object specific customizing
    we have maintained the following

  • Forms 10g Installation issue on windows 7 Professional service pack 1

    hi
    I am trying to install oracle forms 10g  64 bit windows 7 Professional service pack 1 ..
    Below are 2 files that i am using ..
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
    But it failed but the error is ..
    Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.    Actual 6.1     Failed <<<<
    just wondering if there are any workaround ..

    Christian is right - Forms 10g R2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) is not certified for installation on Windows 7.  You must apply a Forms 10g R2 patch to bring the version to 10.1.2.3.0 for it to be certified.  You must have a My Oracle Support account to obtain the patch.
    Now, to your question - is there a workaround; the answer is yes.  There are known issues with this installer.  I'll list them and their workaround.
    1.  The Oracle installer checks for a specific set of Windows versions rather than check for a minimum Windows version.
    Workaround:  Right-click the Installer and select Properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and click the checkbox: Run this program in compatibility mode for:  Windows XP SP3).
    2.  The Oracle Installer can't detect Windows Managed Virtual Memory (VM).
    Workaround:  You must temporarily change the Virtual Memory settings and specify specific Initial and Maximum sizes.  See this Microsoft article for more information on changing VM settings.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
    This change will require you to restart your computer.  After you have successfully installed Oracle Forms 10g, you can restore the original VM settings.
    3.  The Oracle installer MUST be installed as an "Administrator".
    Workaround:  Windows 7 uses "Least privileged user" so you must right-click the Installer and select the Compatibility tab.  Click the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.
    4.  Not a Oracle installer issue, but you will have to install the 32-bit version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (1.6.0 - not 1.7.0) because Oracle Forms is a 32-bit application so it will not be able to use the 64-bit JRE.
    Run the Oracle installer and it should now install succesfully.

  • Oracle 10g Installation issue on Windows 7

    Hi,
    I tried to install Oracle 10g downloaded from the below link on my laptop which runs in Windows 7.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10204-winx64-vista-win2k8-082253.html
    The Oracle version is 10g release 2 for windows 7. I got this DB version no. for Windows 7 from this forum only. But still, I got the error message stated below and unable to install 10g.
    ------------------------------------------------------ Error --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
    Checking installer requirements...
    Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 or 6.0 . Actual 6.1
    Failed <<<<
    Exiting Oracle Universal Installer, log for this session can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\Inventory\logs\installActions2010-10-22_07-37-48AM.log
    Please press Enter to exit...
    ------------------------------------------------------ Error End -------------------------------------------------------------------
    Could you please let me know how I can fix this issue? Or is there any other oracle 10g release/patch to fix this issue? I need to install only Oracle 10g and not 11g.
    Also, I need to install Oracle Forms 10g too.
    It would be great if you could guide me on installing these two softwares in my laptop.
    Your help will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Arun

    Welcome to the forums !
    This issue has been discussed many times before. Pl use the search feature. The only versions supported in Win 7 (Professional or higher) are 10.2.0.5 and 11gR2. 10.2.0.5 is only available on My Oracle Support, while 11gR2 can be downloaded for free from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html

  • 10g Reports issue with XML Data Source

    Hi,
    Has anybody ever encountered an issue with Oracle 10g report using an XML as the data source? What happens is, some of the values in the XML are printed to the wrong column.
    One of the elements in our XML file is a complex type with 10 elements under it. The first 5 are picked up properly, but the last 6 are not. Elements #6 to #9 has a minimum occurence of 0. What happens is when element #6 is present, but #7 is, the value for element #7 is passed on to element #6.
    The XSD and XSL files are both valid since the reports were working when we were still using 9i. There is no hidden logic in the report which might cause this issue to come up, i.e., the report just picks up the values from the XML and prints it to the appropriate columns.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • File Adapter Archiving Issue

    Hi,
    THe file adapter archives the file, it doesn't save the entire contents of the file in the archive folder, but saves the first recordset (row) only in XML format. Did any body face similar issue, and what's the resolution to archive the contents of the file, the way it was sent.
    Thanks

  • File adapter - Archive issue with adapter module

    Hi All,
    I have 2 issues here. We are currently using PI 7.11 EHp1 SP02.
    1. Arhival with "add time stamp" wont work. It just gives us an error message saying simpledate format exception.
    I have gone through the OSS note 1265534 and thought this will resolve the issue. But our BASIS team believes this note is only applicable for PI 7.1 SP01. Can you one using PI 7.11 SP02 comment on this?
    Note: Archive option with out add time stamp works fine.
    2. When I use adapter module in my sender file configuration, the archive option itself does not work. Read the official SAP help which says "To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, set the indicator.
    A permanent error occurs either during the conversion of the file content, or in a module in the module processor."
    So the question here is, how do we make the error permanent? The only way to throw error from adapter module is using the ModuleException. It has 4  different constructors. I have used both
    ModuleException me = new ModuleException ("My error Msg"); and
    Module Exception me1 = new ModuleException ("Error String", new Throwable("My error Msg");
    In both the cases, the archival wont happen.
    Any ideas welcome.
    Thanks
    Jai

  • Symantec & Oracle 10g Compatibility issues

    Hi all,
    Recently i had virus attack on two of my database servers running oracle 10g. one is running on xp and the other on server 2003 r2.
    i cleaned the viruses applied windows patches and then installed symantec endpoint protection 11.
    after installing this teh system started crashing givin bsd.
    in the xp machine i did a bit of r&d and found out that there was a problem with oracle and symantec together.
    then i unsinstalled symantec made everything ok with the db and stopped db services and installed symantec back
    this worked and sytem was up and running again
    but the problem still continues with the windows server 2003
    as soon as i uninstalled oracle the system crashed and now its not starting.
    are there any compatibility issues between symantec and oracle 10g?
    or something should be taken care on the oracle server before installing symantec?
    Any suggestions or experience would really help.
    Regards
    Deepak

    Hi,
    I guess the problem is with Symantic and the Virus .
    As I know there is no direct ill-impact upon Oracle and Symantic together.
    There might be another cause... So some more R&D :)

  • SD Billing Document Archive Issue

    Hi Guru,
    I have encountered an issue related SD Billing Document Archive.
    The issue is like below :
    In our system there is provision that we can Archive SD through ""Services For Object"" option in VF02.
    Generally the way we archive it is as below steps:
    1. Open a particular billing document through VF02 which need to be archive.
    2. Then we click on ""Pricing Condition Header"" -> It takes you to the pricing detail screen with "Output" button in the application tool bar.
    3. Then we click on "Output" button -> It takes you to the screen throuh which o/p of the billing document is configured.
    4. We set the following parameters for archiving
        output type = ZTR1
        Medium = Printing output.
        Function = BP
       Partner = desired partner number
    5. Using ""Further Data" button we set the Dispatch time to "4. Send Immediately (when saving the application)""
    6. Using ""Communication method" we set the Logical destination to LP01 and storage mode to "3.Print and archive" and Print Immediately option tick marked
    7. Press save button created a single spool in Sp01 with spool number.
    In spool there is saving only one spool with only 1 spool request type. (say the print preview of spool request type contains 3 pages in 1 spool request)
    But when i am viewing the archiving document through vf03/vf02 in ""Services For Object""  I am able to find for the same spool 3 separate pages is in archived document.
    when i tried to find out the reason by debugging setting the breakpoint in the driver prog configured in NACE. the debugging cursor is not stopping there...
    So Guru what might be the possible reason because of which 3 separate pages in being archived instead of 1 and  the cursor is not getting stopped at the o/p type's driver prog.
    Please provide some guideline so that I can resolve this..
    Thanks & regards

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 10g Download Issue

    Hi everyone. I just downloaded the freeware Oracle Database Express Edition without any apparent problems. However, when I attempt to go to the Express Edition Homepage, which is location http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex,
    I get the message that my Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. (It can, however, display other pages.) I cannot understand why this is the case since I successfully added Web site 127.0.0.1 in my Control Panel (as specified in the instructions.) Also, the instructions stated that HTTP port 8080 was the default port, unless my system said that this was not available (which it did not.) I also tried rebooting, which did not make a difference. Help!
    Thanks,
    Jason

Help!There is a forum dedicated to Express Edition, in which we have discussed a lot of the variants in failure that causes this problem. At the top of the page you are reading, there should be links like "Forum Home » Database » Database - General". The middle one will get you to a list of all Oracle forums and after the first 5, the rest are alphabetical - XE is pretty far down that page.
    (You might also note that there is an Installation forum next to this one. That might be better suited to the task than the 'catch-all' general forum.)
    The most common issues are related to not preparing the operating system properly. For example, if you use a laptop you probably use DHCP to get a different address from the various sites you connect to. However, Oracle works as a server and depends on having a well known address. In fact, it tends to bind the IP address at install into it's configuration files. Therefore it is critical to use the loopback adapter in such situations.
    Other issues are dependent on the actual OS into which you install. For example, Ubuntu (Linux) has very differnet install philosophy as Red Hat / Fedora, and requires a different install technique. Then again, on Windows, it is nearly impossible to install anything Oracle on a Windows 'Home' OS, and XE generally has not even been tested against Windows 7.
    Other common reasons include anti-virus; firewall; not having appropriate operating system level permissions; in Windows - using a Domain-based userid instead of a local administrator; and just general finger issues.
    Express is considerably different in the install behaviour and runtime behaviour. For example. it uses RPM and MSI instead of Oracle Universal Installer. It does not include Java in the database, which limits a lot of functionality. And it uses the built-in PL/SQL Web Gateway instead of any external HTTP server. As a result, it can be quite a shock to mmany of the regular inhabitants in this forum.
    I strongly encourage reading the documentation for XE. In particular, reading the install doc. Start at http://tahiti.oracle.com and look for the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Express Edition documentation. (Just below the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 documentation.)

  • DB Migration from SAPDB to Oracle 10g - Archive access after migration?

    Hi!
    Our customer plans to move his SAP system landscape from one Service Provider to another. During this not only new hardware is used but also a DB migration will be done using the procedure described in the SAP System Copy Guide (SAPDB -> Oracle - Offline Export in source system,
    Import in target system).
    SAPSID and client will be the same in the new environment, but of course HW key, IP-adress, Server name, Domain name and obviously Installation no. will change. SAP Note 153433 as well as System Copy Guide do not completely clearly tell me, whether we will face problems when trying to access our archived data after the migration. It's not completely clear to me, how the Archive References are
    built: Only using SAPSID and client? Then everything should be okay, because here we plan no changes.
    So do we have to face any problems when trying to access and/or reload the archived files and objects after the movement to the new service provider? Are there any pitfalls concerning archviving and archive access we have to take in mind?
    Add. info: The archvied files and objects are stored in an IBM Common Store which will be moved physically from location A to B. So here nothing changes.
    Thanx in advance for any hint.
    BTW: SAP Notes 153433, 460620 and 53068 were already studied. SAP support said this is a consulting issue ... ;-(
    Regards,
    Volker Kolberg

    Hi Volker,
    I haven't worked much on archiving, however Archived files are flat files ( I think) and hence these files should be common for all databases.
    However a good strategy is to first test. I think you must have already thought about it however still here is what you could do.
    Take system copy of the system you want to migrate ( you could choose a development system where there is not much data)
    Delete data the production clients in the copied system.
    Archive some data using object something like WORKITEM which is harmless workflow object.
    Migrate the system and try to reload the object
    Hope that helps.

  • Oracle 10g performance issues

    Hi,
    We were using Oracle 9i in Solaris 5.8 and it was working fine with some minor performance issues. We formatted the Solaris server with new Solaris 5.10 and installed Oracle 10g.
    Now we are experiencing some performance issues in Oracle 10g. This issue is arising when using through Websphere 5.1.
    We have analyzed the schema, index is rebuild, SGA is 4.5 GB, PGA is 2.0 GB, Solaris RAM is 16 GB. Also we are having some Mat Views (possibly this may cause performance issues - not sure) due to refresh.
    Also I have changed some parameters in init.ora file like query_rewrite = STALE_TOLERATED, open_cursors = 1500 etc.
    Is is something due to driver from which the data is accessed. I guess it is not utilizing the indexes on the table.
    Can anyone please suggest, what could be the issue ?

    <p>There are a lot of changes to the optimizer in the upgrade from 9i to 10g, and you need to be aware of them. There are also a number of changes to the default stats collection mechanism, so after your upgrade your statistics (hence execution paths) could change dramatically.
    </p>
    <p>
    Greg Rahn has a useful entry on his blog about stats collection, and the blog al,so points to an Oracle white paper which will give you a lot of ideas about where the optimizer changes - which may help you spot your critical issues.
    </p>
    <p>Otherwise, follow triggb's advice about using Statspack to find the SQL that is the most expensive - it's reasonably likely to be this SQL that has changed execution plans in the upgrade.

  • 10g Writeback issues

    Hi,
    I'm new to OB and new to this forum. I was asked to add the writeback function to a subject area I created, so I did some research and found a couple walkthroughs. I did everything I thought I was supposed to do, but when i go into the frontend, the writeback button does not show in the column I setup.
    I setup my writeback simply for making the xml simple.
    http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/60/image001ta.png
    http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3275/image002qy.png
    you can see the setup in the backend. The subject area is FOLSUM_TEST, the connection pool is called folsum, and in the table AIF I am trying to make a simple report with account number and last comment 1. I want last comment 1 to be able to do the writeback. I set up AIF as non-cacheable. I am using an admin login so i have the "execute direct database request" ability. Last Comment 1 is VARCHAR 255 length.
    Here is my XML -
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <WebMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web/message/v1">
    <WebMessageTable lang="en-us" system="WriteBack" table="Messages">
    <WebMessage name="WriteBack">
    <XML>
    <writeBack connectionPool="folsum">
    <insert>INSERT INTO FOLSUM_TEST.AIF ‘Last Comment 1’ (@{c1})</insert>
    <update>UPDATE FOLSUM_TEST.AIF SET ‘Last Comment 1’='@{c1}' WHERE ‘Account Number’=@{c0}</update>
    </writeBack>
    </XML>
    </WebMessage>
    </WebMessageTable>
    </WebMessageTables>
    So I put this in the right location, and I get no writeback ability when I load the report. I am thinking that the possible problem is that the column is named Last Comment 1 instead of LAST_COMMENT_1 as one word? I put single ticks and double ticks around the column header but neither worked. I have double checked the columns label as c1 and c0,in short I am at a loss as to what could be wrong here. Oh yeah, the server is on XP and my pc is on win7. I followed these 2 walkthroughs.
    http://satyaobieesolutions.blogspot.in/2012/06/obiee-10g11g-writeback-capabilities.html and
    http://www.eeblog.org/index.php/understand-and-configure-the-writeback-option-in-obiee-10g/
    Thanks for your help.

    I have gotten the writeback button to show, and it is not greyed out. I get an error message when I try to save the data though-
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43093] An error occurred while processing the EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement. SQL Issued: EXECUTE PHYSICAL CONNECTION POOL folsum UPDATE AIF SET "Last Comment 1"= 'CBCS Nationa' WHERE "Account Number"=0000030857
    I'm assuming I have some setting wrong having to do with the nvarchar value mentioned, but I have no idea why and can't find this issue on searching. The database column is varchar type with 255 characters if that helps.
    thank you

  • Solaris 9 U7 (2004/09) MultiLayered Flash Archive issue + solution ?

    In Solaris 9 Update 7 (2004/09) the multilayered flash archive installation feature is broken.
    I think that this is a known issue:
    4945516 Failure of multi-layered archive with Solaris 9 4/03 on Postdeployment process
    I manage to flash my archives by changing the following statement found at line 24 of the file
    ../Solaris_9/Tools/Boot/usr/lib/flash/postdeployment_processing
    from
    if [ ! -L $FLASH_ROOT/etc/rc2.d/S98flash_reboot ] ; then
    to
    if [ -L $FLASH_ROOT/etc/rc2.d/S98flash_reboot ] ; then
    This issue is addressed in the patch 113434-22
    113434-22/SUNWinst/reloc/usr/lib/flash/postdeployment_processing
    But the if statement is not the good one.
    Is this correct ?
    Coco D.

    Ideas.. Hmm, none which seems that correct, but you could try some things.
    If it gets the wrong IP that could explain why it fails to copy the sysidcfg file.
    First you could try and do a snoop on the ethernet address;
    snoop ether 0:3:ba:14:c6:cd
    (you could also try the -v flag to increase the verbosity).
    The things you should look for are arp/rarp requests, the jumpstart client will use arp/rarp to determine its IP address, snoop will show you which server that responds, and what address it gets, futher more its a good idea to verify that the response to the bootparams requests comes from the correct server.
    Of course there might be other oddnesses as well.
    Was the data you provided extracts? If it was you should check the /etc/ethers and /etc/bootparams for duplicates entries, so there are no other occourances of the clients ehternet address in /etc/ethers, and no bogus entries starting with * or the same hostname in /etc/bootparams.
    If you added the client manually you could always try and use the Tools/rm_install_client and Tools/add_install_client scripts to add it again, these script sometimes detect problems with the configuration.
    Lastly you didn't show us your /etc/nsswitch.conf file, but i assume that it has "files" first for the ethers, hosts and bootparams entries?
    Good luck
