10g Developer Crashes

In converting from 6i to 10g, one form is crashing the 10g Developer tool.
Many forms have been converted already. This form has blocks built on procedures rather than tables. It compiles and generates the FMX in 6i as normal.
Opening in 10g, however, and making no changes the form compiles, but crashes upon attempting to generate the FMX.
The Microsoft window doesn't give any useful information.
Ideas?

When you open the cleaned up 6i version in the Forms 10g Builder, can you compile it without the Builder crashing? It should compile without any problems. (And with that version, you should be able to save, open, and recompile in the Forms 10g Builder without any trouble.)
Try recompiling after each Webutil object is added. I'll bet the crashing is related to that.
I copied that version back to Windows, but the developer still crashes.+You SHOULD NOT do that. Compiling the fmb on unix can add compiled code back into the fmb, depending on what compiler options you use. (Check the fmb file size. Watch out if it changes.) After that, when you open it in the Windows Forms Builder, it finds incompatible compiled code.
Moving an fmb to the unix environment from your Windows development environment is a one-way street.
The version where you "opened in the 10g tool, added the WebUtil objects...saved and closed" is the ONLY version you should open in the Windows Forms Builder.
Try compiling it and see if the Forms Builder crashes. If it still crashes, I would contact Oracle.

  • SQL Developer crashing when opening or testing a connection

    SQL Developer closes abruptly when opening or testing a connection.
    Here's what I do.
    Open SQL Developer.
    Create a connection:
    Connection Name: [some string]
    Username: [username]
    Password: [password]
    Save password: checked
    Oracle tab:
    Connection type: TNS
    Connect Identifier: somedatabasename
    Then I click on "Test" and the application immediately quits. No error messages. The app does the same thing if I save the connection and try to expand its node on the list of connections.
    Mind you, if I use sqlplus like so:
    [username]/[password]@somedatabasename
    It connects just fine.
    I captured the output from the command console after SQL Developer crashed:

    @Jim:
    Thanks for your suggestion. After several hours of experimenting, I've managed to fix my problem by copying the ojdbc6.jar from my ODAC installation and replacing the one in [sqldeveloper root]\jdbc\lib

    I don't know what it could be, but I have another question: why are you installing DevSuite on a server? DevSuite is for the developers and should be installed on a client, not a server. Maybe that is the problem.

  • Regarding Oracle 10G Developer Suite On Oracle 9i R2

    Actually i am new to oracle *9i R2* because i worked on Oracle 7 in that i was getting by default forms and reports will be installed. after inquiring with my friends they said that in oracle *9i R2* there wont be forms and reports installed for that you have to install Oracle 10G Developer Suite. but i am having a doubt that weather both can be installed on the same machine in the same operating system.

    Yes we can use 2 databases on same machine on same operating system but u need to use different Oracle Homes for each version. But u can't ran Form 10g wid Oracle 9i database. You need to use only 10G forms Reports wid 10G Database.

  • Query Builder in 10g Developer Suite

    I am accustomed to using previous versions of Oracle developer (2000,6 i...), and there was "Query Builder", which is very useful for us, especially when we do statistics and complex Reports.
    Now the Staff has chosen 10g Developer Suite that unfortunately there was no "Query Builder". Is it someone can help me find such a tool like it(query Builder) in Oracle 10g.
    I saw an almost similar to Oracle SQL Developer but can not totally replace the "query Builder "I didn't find for example a way to insert a calculated field in the Query of Oracle SQL Developer, it's like SQL PLus, and the same case with Toad.

    hi,
    you can use Oracle application express tool,its a application development tool,but it contain query builder,try youy best.

  • How to connect DataBase 9i  with 10g Developer Suit

    Hi Every body , how i connect
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.1.1 DataBase with 10g Developer Suit ????
    when i'm trying to run my program i just can run it for the first time :( . when i'm
    trying to run it for the second time i receive this msg
    <html> <head> ORACLE FORMS.</head>
    <body onload="document.pform.submit();" >
    <form name="pform" action="http://ABUKARAKI.AHU.EDU.LOCAL:8889/forms90/f90servlet" method="POST">
    <input type="hidden" name="form" value="C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Desktop\MODULE1.fmx">

    <input type="hidden" name="obr" value="yes">
    <input type="hidden" name="array" value="YES">

    Create your forms working directory.
    add that path to default.env
    and also edit parameter in formsweb.cfg to point to you main form.
    This way by default when you go to http://ABUKARAKI.AHU.EDU.LOCAL:8889/forms90/f90servlet it will open your main form.
    From main form you can open your other forms.

  • SQL Developer Crash

    I can make SQL Developer crash in the following way:
    Click on the "search" tool on the right side of the screen. Enter a package name to search for. Two results will come back, one for the package body, and the other for the package procedure listing. If you single-click (which I have figured out with trial-and-error) things work fine.
    Only problem is on Windows I usually expect to double-click on a dialog box like this, and when I do that I think SQL Developer tries to open two connections at once. Error messages about "connection busy" usually pop up.
    The worst scenario, which happens about 40% of the time, is that some sort of weird modal dialog box interaction can happen between the "searching" dialog box and the "connection busy" dialog box. I can't click anywhere else, can't even close SQL Developer from the Windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen. I have to kill it through Process Manager, which usually makes me lose a bunch of SQL queries and whatever else I've been working on.
    Suggestion: Prevent/catch double-clicking OR change the "search" form to use double and not single-clicking.
    Anybody else have this experience?
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • ORA-12154 after 10g Developer installed

    Guys
    Not seen any specific references to these exact circumstances, and this may be in the wrong forum, but please bear with me .....
    I've recently installed Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on to my PC. Now, every time I try to connect to any Oracle database via PL/SQL Developer, Impromptu/Cognos etc, I get;
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    Everything worked fine before the Developer install. As far as I can see my PC has exactly the same files and settings as before, as my old PC that was dumped a couple of weeks ago and as colleague's PCs who have not installed Oracle 10g Developer and are happily accessing databases.
    Is there something the install amends that may have impacted?? Something that I need to be aware of or accomodate??
    Thanks in advance for any help
    Ian

    You are about the 100000000 person with this problem.
    This problem occurs when not reading the installation manual, not trying to find out what is going on, and jumping to the Usenet or this forum rightaway to ask this boring question AGAIN.
    Why do people never pay attention? Why can't they be bothered to read the troubleshooting section in the Net administrators manual?
    Why does everyone need to be spoon fed.
    The answer is for the 100000001 time:
    You have installed Developer in a different Oracle_home, you now have TWO different tnsnames.ora, and you need either
    - to synchronize them
    or
    - to set TNS_ADMIN string variable in HKLM\software\oracle to the old tnsnames.ora directory.

    with Oracle Developer 10g 9.0.4 is no problem to connect to Oracle 8i.
    with Oracle Developer 10g 10.1.2. you need the Patch 8.1.7.4 for 8i, i think.
