Windows Server 2008 R2 Ent SP1 64bit
I receive ORA-28353: failed to open wallet when attempting to create a new wallet in the default location (no ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION defined in the sqlnet) using alter system set encryption key identified by "password1!";. I have confirmed my ORACLE_BASE as c:\oracle and have manually created the wallet directory c:\oracle\admin\<SID>\wallet.
I have two databases referencing the same ORACLE_HOME. I want two separate wallets for these databases. I do not want to manage multiple sqlnet files and would prefer to let Oracle manage the wallets from the default location.
I have seen older posts referencing a 64bit OS bug that was supposedly fixed in 11g R1 (I believe). Is it possible that I am running into the same issues? It works fine for one database if I specify the default location in the ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION in the sqlnet.
Any advice in getting Oracle to use the default wallet location to manage wallets from would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How to supply wallet location to OCI client for SSL connection other than sqlnet.ora

I have a oracle 11g database server and I am connecting to it through OCI client in OBIEE Admin tool. This is working fine, but now the requirement is we need to connect to an SSL enabled database.
For this I had to update the sqlnet.ora under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin in OBIEE installation and specify the wallet location where I placed the wallet containing appropriate certificates.
The above is working fine for me. But due to certain restrictions, we cannot create this sqlnet.ora. Is there a way we can pass this wallet location through some environment variables so that sqlnet.ora is not required?
If we create a jdbc connection, we can specify the wallet location through jdbc connection properties. Is there any such equivalent for OCI based connection. I dont mind how we make the wallet location available to OCI client, so long as I dont have to create a sqlnet.ora.
Any pointers is greatly appreciated

sqlnet.ora file is required if you want to set the wallet location to another directory by using the WALLET_LOCATION parameter.
If you do not want to use sqlnet.ora then you need to use the default wallet location.
The wallet is placed, by default, in $ORACLE_BASE/admin/<global_db_name>/wallet.
If this directory does not exist or ORACLE_BASE is not set, the default location is: $ORACLE_HOME/admin/<global_db_name>/wallet

Problem in database fields creation using default class of B1DE Wizard

In an AddOn I am creating database fields in default class "Project_DB'. It does not give any message weather it creates fields or not. My code for database creation is given below

It does not give first message. and second message come properly and immediately when I start the AddOn. I checked it makes all fields accuratly. But when I open the related form it gives error message "Data Source not found". I checked fields name are same as used in form and database .What can the reason? Should I use a simple function for creation of database fields which will run when a button is pressed? Is it fine to using default class for database fields creation?

I solved the problem.
Procedure I followed :
UNINSTALL ORACLE WRAEHOUSE BUILDER SOFTAWARE.
'GLOBAL_NAMES = FALSE' in init.ora file.
RESTARTED MY MACHINE.
INSTALL THE ORACLE WRAEHOUSE BUILDER SOFTAWARE.

Oracle 10G Encryption Problem - ORA-28353: failed to open wallet

I have an Oracle 10g R2 database. I would like to use the Transparent Database Encription on a table. However, whenever I try to create or open a wallet I get the following error:
ORA-28353: failed to open wallet
I have a directory called wallet in the $ORACLE_BASE directory. I've checked Meta-Link. I can't seem to find any information on what to do.

Did you follow the procedure described in Oracle 10g documentation titled as 'Advanced Security' about "Using Transparent Data Encryption" (Chapter 3).????
Also , in the advisable actions of Oracle about this type of error is this....
Action: Execute the command again using the correct wallet password or verfying a wallet exists in the specified directory. If necessary, create a new wallet and initialize it.

You can just simply edit to each column's report attribute. For example,
To set default date,
Default Type: PL/SQL Expression of Function
Default: sysdate
To set default text,
Default Type: PL/SQL Expression of Function
Default: *'CLERK'*

Use 'default' keyword in call string while calling stored proc?

I am calling following sql server stored procedure from java code using my jdbc driver for sql server: CREATE PROCEDURE test_findTbInfo (
@paramIn_Str varchar(10),
@paramOut_Int int OUT,

end
If I make a call like this:
CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall(" { call test_findTbInfo(? , , ? ) }");
cs.setString(1, "test_tab");
cs.setInt(2, 4);
cs.execute();
It works without any error. But this is not a right behavior. !! The second parameter as you see is passed like an optional parameter. But in stored proc it is NOT an optional param and so if the value not passed it should fail...
Now if I change the code to
CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall(" { call test_findTbInfo(? , default, ? ) }");
it works correctly. Gives error that "Procedure 'test_findTbInfo' expects parameter '@paramOut_Int', which was not supplied." which is correct.
So is it a normal practice to use 'default' keyword while calling sql server stored procedures having optional parameters in jdbc ????
Anyone knows ??? As far as I know "call test_findTbInfo(? , , ? )" works fine except in some cases and also it forces users to put all optional parameters at the end of parameter list in stored proc.
Please let me know whether I should go with 'default' throuout for sql server stored proc while calling using my jdbc driver.

That is not the same as an OUT argument.Yes that is true. The result value and OUT parameters are different but they both MUST be registered as per jdbc API

The registry method does not work with 8.1. I found this out the hard way. Doing it on 8.1 will leave you reinstalling the OS if you didn't do a SRP beforehand.

How do I use default parameters from ODP.NET. I have a proc in Oracle that shows Default? = Y when I do Describe in PL/SQL Developer. Therefore, I don't want to pass this parameter at all via ODP.NET/C# call. If I omit this parameter, I get the dreaded "Invalid number or types of parameters" error.

thanks in advance.the only way I've found is to search the web for lists of default users and their passwords, then attempt to log on with said credentials. I'd start with Pete Finnigan's site (google is your friend). He may already have some scripts ready to go, or at least the lists you'd need to get started.

How to display message using default lock in ORACLE 9i?

I am using ORACLE 9i I am inserting a same record in a same table (which is having primary key) of same user with different sql editor (or from different machines).
with same time.
One person is able to insert the record..
But other one is in processing state, once the inserted person give commit,then only other person got the message "Primary key constraint voilated".
This is bcoz of concurrency in oracle. For this purpose Oracle uses default lock.
Is it possible to give message to other person like "One user is using this table..", after a record is inserted and before commit is get issued by the inserted user?
how can i do this?
