[11] Parallel launch of same concurrent program

Hi,
I have contracts grouped by regions.
I also have a concurrent program that modifiies the status of these contracts by calling the standard package OKC_STATUS_CHANGE_PVT.
I would like to launch the pl/sql program in parallel for all regions at the same time, because the standard package deals with all possible contract status and it uses one hour for 3000 contracts.
Is there a way to enter the different regions in a list under the concurrent program manager menu?
Many thanks.

There are two methods in Oracle. DBMS_JOB and DBMS_SCHEDULER. These are APIs that allows you to create background PL/SQL processes.
Details on both APIs are in the [url http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/toc.htm]Oracle® Database PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference guide.
Example (using DBMS_JOB):
declare
jobID number; -- job ID returned by DBMS_JOB for scheduled job
begin
-- schedule 3 jobs for starting at SYSDATE, as once off jobs as we
-- do not specify any interval
DBMS_JOB.Submit( jobID, 'prog1 1 1000;,' SYSDATE );
DBMS_JOB.Submit( jobID, 'prog1 1001 2000;,' SYSDATE );
DBMS_JOB.Submit( jobID, 'prog1 2000 3000;,' SYSDATE );
-- only when these job submissions are committed, will the job queue
-- processing pool see these jobs

    Well - it shouldn't, but that doesn't mean that it won't make any difference :)
    If only one method doesn't work (and I must admit that I never use the concurrent program if I can avoid it), then the problem lies with the concurrent program. If none of the methods work, then there is a different problem.
    If you can deploy to one environment but not to another then I would also look at the differences between environments - patches, init.ora settings, profile options etc. to see where the difference lies.

    Hi ,
    I have used following code for scheduling the concurrent program from backend.
    declare
    l_request_id NUMBER;
    l_return_code boolean := FALSE;
    BEGIN
    fnd_global.apps_initialize(62991,54477,20003);
    l_return_code := FND_REQUEST.SET_OPTIONS ('YES');
    l_return_code :=fnd_request.set_repeat_options('16:36:00','','DAYS','START','','Y');
    l_request_id:=fnd_request.submit_request(application => 'xbol',
    program => 'NAPP_START_GENERATE_CHART_DATA',
    description => 'Processing chart ',
    start_time => SYSDATE,
    sub_request => FALSE,
    argument1 =>4000130957231588,
    argument2 => null
    COMMIT;
    dbms_output.put_line('Program has been submited and request id is '||l_request_id);
    END;
    Here the issue was concurrent program is completing with a warning like
    Resubmission of request 75588551 has been cancelled.
    FND_RESUB_PRIVATE.PROCESS_INCREMENT EXCEPTION: ORA-01403: no data found
    Resubmission of request 75588551 has been cancelled.

  • Multiple instances of Concurrent Program Being Submitted Diffrently

    h3. Hi Oracle Gurus,
    I am new here and was unable to find the correct category to post my thread into. So please if you know the right category please move it or let me know.
    I am having an issue with the order of submission of the same concurrent program with different responsibility.
    h4. Let me explain with an example:
    I have program CProg which is incompatible to itself in the present setting. There are multiple schedules running of the program with different responsibility. The problem arises when the schedules overlap.
    Now let's take 2 schedules:
    1. Runs daily at 2 PM. To identify name it as CProgSch1
    2. Runs the program every 3 hours. CProgSch2
    The priority of both requests is same.
    h4. Terms:
    Request_Date:+The time at which the parent program requested child program to be submitted.+
    Requested_Start_Date:+The time at which the program was meant to be run.+
    Actual_Start_Date:+Time when the program was actually run.+
    Actual_Completion_Date:+Time when the program finished execution.+
    h4. Now, the details are:
    Program________Request_Date_____________Requested_Start_Date________Actual_Start_Date________Actual_Completion_Date
    CProgSch1_________25 Dec 2012 2.20PM__________26 Dec 2012 2PM_____________26 Dec2012 2.02 PM________26 Dec 2012 2.22 PM
    CProgSch2_________ 26 Dec 2012 10.58AM________26 Dec 2012 1.55PM___________26 Dec 2012 2.23PM________26 Dec 2012 2.26 PM
    After I checked why not one but both programs missed to start at Requested_Start_Date( by 2 minutes and 23 minutes) I came to know that there was another program running which completed at 2.02PM.
    After its completion to my surprise CProgSch1 which was scheduled 5 Minutes later ran instead of CProgSch2.
    And as listed above, CProgSch2 which was scheduled to run at 1.55PM was actually run at 2.23 PM after completion of CProgSch1 at 2.22PM.
    It seems that Oracle prioritizes the programs based on Request_Date rather than Requested_Start_Date. Is this so? Can we do something so that oracle picks up programs based on Requested_Start_Date instead of Request_Date.

    ok, and can you please tell me how it doesn't follow those guidelines? If he where to make it shorter then it wouldn't be self contained. He showed us just the methods that where causing the problem. How would you present the problem "Hlpes prgrm no wrk!!!!!" and leave it at that? I'll just point this out before you say anything else:
    U nEd 2 b clearer bout wot d prob iz!_
    Fact is your not helping him at all.
    Now on to his question. I have run code similar to yours in my own sessions and everything turns works out fine.
    public class Monster{
         public int AC;
         public Monster(int a){
              AC = a;
    public class State{
         public State(){}
         public void h(Monster mon1, Monster mon2){
              System.out.println(mon1.AC+","+mon2.AC);
    public class Test{
         public static void main(String[] args){
              State h = new State();
              final Monster Goblin = new Monster(12);
              final Monster Pirate = new Monster(14);
              h.h(Goblin, Pirate);
    }That outputs "12,14". So the problem most be somewhere else in the code.

  • In SQL Loader based Concurrent Program, how to get the current request id

    Hi All,
    I am trying the following control file.
    OPTIONS ( SKIP = 1 , ERRORS = 0 )
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE *
    REPLACE INTO TABLE XXPA_ASSET_TRANS_INTERFACE
    FIELDS TERMINATED by ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY'"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
         Project_Number
         ,Asset_Name
         ,Location_Country Constant USA
         ,request_id CHAR "fnd_global.conc_request_id"
    in request id column I am getting -1 ...
    Please lt me know how can i get the current request id in the request_id field.
    Thanks

    Hi
    To my knowledge, this can't be achieved with SQL*Loader concurrent programs. Depending on what You are using the request id, the options provided may be useful.
    I had a similar issue, requiring the use of user_id and login_id for who columns, and the solution applied was:
    - Define a template for the control file, with place holders for the additional info:
    user_id constant "x_user_id"
    - Create a shell to receive the additional info as parameters, and use sed to change the template file to generate the control file, using the parameter to replace placeholders.
    Create a request set to launch the shell concurrent program and then the sql loader program, whose control file now has the additional information required.
    Caution when more than one middle tier node is used.

  • Reg. Concurrent Program Scheduling

    Hi,
    I am having a small doubt regarding concurrent program scheduling, we are having a concurrent program which is scheduled.But for some code changes we re-created the same concurrent program.
    The question here is, does the concurrent program will be already in schedule mode or again we should schedule it.
    Thanks in advance.

    we re-created the same concurrent programWhat do you mean by recreated? If you have updated the code, then you do not need to schedule it again. You can also check the status of the concurrent program from the backend to verify.

  • XML output for pdf concurrent program

    Hi,
    We have one custom concurrent program defined with output as pdf.
    We want to generate an xml output some times. We dont want to register another concurrent program.
    We want to use same concurrent program, but want to generate output some times pdf , some times xml.
    Please suggest whether any possible way of doing this even using CONCSUB also fine.
    Thank you,
    Venkat.

    Hi Ramana;
    We want to submit the concurrent program, but output type either as xml or pdf it will be known during runtime.AFAIK if you prepare template in XML publisher than you can take output as pdf, by the way you can take xml output too
    Please check user guide:

    Can any one give the suggestions for parallelism of concurrent program. As i am having union's in the select statment . i am not able to use NTILE eventhough i am giving number of threads as 50000 even though it is running for a long time.
    Best regards

    Hi,
    i am not able to use NTILE eventhough i am giving number of threads as 50000 even though it is running for a long timeDo you get any error?
    What does this concurrent program do?
    You may need to enable trace to find out why this concurrent program takes long time to run -- See (Note: 296559.1 - FAQ: Common Tracing Techniques within the Oracle Applications 11i/R12 (Customer Recommended)) for details.

  • Can we use same data definition with multiple concurrent programs?

    Hi,
    My requirement is as below:
    I have two concurrent programs (say CP1 and CP2), both concurrent programs need to use same data definition (the same data template xml file) and same RTF layout template. However when registering data definition in the E-Biz, the data definition code must match concurrent program, hence I have to create two definitions (for the same data template xml file) and because layout template is attached with data definition I have to duplicate the layout definition also.
    In summary, i have to create two (duplicate) Data Definition and Layout Template for the same dataTemplate.xml and Layout.rtf files. Is there any way to avoid this duplication?
    The only issue with duplication is any change in xml or rtf needs to be updated in all the four definitions (2 data definitions and 2 layout definitions).
    Thanks

    I found the resolution and thought of sharing
    you can see this post

  • How to run a concurrent program from Menu List

    Hi Guys,
    I am working in HRMS. And did the following steps.
    1. Created one concurrent program "Payroll Variance Report" as per customer's requirement.
    2. Now user wants me to luanch this consurrent program from the People Form i.e. Reponsibility->People Form (on the same form, on the top of it 'Tools' bar is there where I need to attach one prompt "Pyaroll Variance Report" to its list). The moment user clicks on this "Payroll Variance Report" option of 'Tools' list, it should launch the concurrent request. I hope I make you understand my requirements. This is very urgent. Kindly give me you suggestions.

  • Java Concurrent Program issue

    Hello,
    I am fairly new the Java Concurrent Programs concept. I was just trying a simple Hello World example but I cannot seem to run it from the operating system. Here is my Hello World java program I created using Jdeveloper:
    package oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request;
    public class Hello implements JavaConcurrentProgram {
    public static final String RCS_ID = "$Header$";
    public void runProgram(CpContext ctx) {
    ctx.getLogFile().writeln("-- Hello World! --", 0);
    ctx.getOutFile().writeln("-- Hello World! --");
    ctx.getReqCompletion().setCompletion(ReqCompletion.NORMAL, "");
    It compiles fine in Jdev generating the class file. Here is what I did :
    1) Created directory under $JAVA_TOP as follows :
    mkdir $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/fnd/cp/sample
    2) moved the Hello.java file there under sample directory
    3) compiled java file using avac $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/fnd/cp/sample/Hello.java ( It compiles fine generating the class file )
    4) Now I wanted to test running it : I tried using jre command first as I saw in other posts but this is not working :
    jre -Ddbcfile=$FND_TOP/secure/k021kp-6180_r115dev1.dbc -Drequest.outfile=/export/home/sqadri/outfile oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request.Run oracle.apps.fnd.cp.sample.Hello
    Error :
    ksh: jre: not found
    Then I tried using the other way I saw on posts which is using the java command :
    java -cp $AF_CLASSPATH -Ddbcfile=$FND_TOP/secure/k021kp-6180_r115dev1.dbc -Drequest.outfile=/export/home/sqadri/outfile oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request.Run oracle.apps.fnd.cp.sample.Hello
    This gives me the following error :

    Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ? I have tried everything even tried ftp the class file from my local but I get the same error. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Ajay,
    Yes you are right. I did not register my java program yet in the concurrent programs.
    I thought I could test it out from the operating system command line before registering it. But looking at your document you sent me it seems I have to do all the steps i.e. define concurrent program etc before I can test it from the operating system. If that's the case then what's the use of trying to test it via operating system using
    java -cp $AF_CLASSPATH -Ddbcfile=$FND_TOP/secure/k021kp-6180_r115dev1.dbc -Drequest.outfile=/export/home/sqadri/outfile oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request.Run oracle.apps.fnd.cp.sample.Hello
    Thanks

    We can submit the request to a concurrent program using fnd_request.submit_request(). Can we submit a request using db link i.e. without loging into the Oracle Apps instance? What are the steps to do this?
    If I am submitting more than one request for a same program but with some different parameters, will the system able to handle these requests in parallel? How many requests can be handled by a system in parallel? Is there any limit on this?

What are the steps to do this?Use FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST API but you still need to provide credentials when you create the database link -- Please search the forum for "FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST" and you will get many hits.
    If I am submitting more than one request for a same program but with some different parameters, will the system able to handle these requests in parallel? Yes.
    How many requests can be handled by a system in parallel? Is there any limit on this?Depends on how many concurrent managers you are running and how many request your CMs can run in parallel.
    This is explained in "Oracle Applications System Administrator's Guide Documentation Set" --http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/applications-167706.html
