11g r2 documentation errors

in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_8004.htm
The view must not contain any of the following constructs:
A subquery in a SELECT list.
but this works
"UPDATE (SELECT employee_id, salary, (SELECT 'sub' FROM DUAL) sub FROM employees) SET salary = 1"
In addition, if an inherently updatable view contains pseudocolumns or expressions, then you cannot update base table rows with an UPDATE statement that refers to any of these pseudocolumns or expressions.
but including ROWNUM pseudocolumn doesnt work
"UPDATE (SELECT employee_id, salary, ROWNUM no FROM employees) SET salary = 1"
in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/statements_3001.htm#SQLRF53384
You can change a CHAR column to VARCHAR2 (or VARCHAR)
and a VARCHAR2 (or VARCHAR) column to CHAR only if the BLANK_TRIMMING
initialization parameter is set to TRUE and the column size stays the same or increases.
but i can modify a columns datatype between char and varchar2 without setting blank_trimming to true?

All good points.
I'll check with the subject matter experts and get back to you.
Thanks!

  • LCES JBoss App Server manual config documentation error

There is a documentation error in "Create JMS topics and queues" under "Modifying the JBoss configuration files" of the "Preparing to install LiveCycle ES" document in October 2007 version.
For each of the <depends> tag in the [appserver root]/server/all/deploy/jms/adobe-service.xml file, the associated attribute is misspelled and should be written 'optional-attribute-name' (notice the second hyphen). Using the documentation syntax, you will encounter an 'java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: null object name' stack trace for each of the declared queues and topic.

  • OIM 11g integration AutoLogin error (first login or forgot password)

    Hi,
We are currently integrating OAM+OIM 11g (R2). We have used a 10g webgate for this.
When the user logs in for the first time, and sets his password and answers the challenge questions, he should be "Auto logged in" when he is finished.
The same scenario should happen, if the user forgot his password, and resets it. He should be "Auto-logged in" when finished.
This is not happending for us.
The OIM logs tells us this:
ERROR: Autologin failed oracle.iam.ui.platform.sso.exception.AutoLoginException: Error occured while retrieving TAP partner key from Credential store
We have tried to verify everything recommended by this Oracle Support article:
How to Solve Autologin problems in OIM with OAM? [ID 1475297.1]
Any ideas what we are missing?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Henrik

    Maybe this is a something?
Whate should the value of the property OAM_SERVER_VERSION be, when running idmConfigTool.sh and using a 10g webgate for the integration?
Chapter 7.6 in the integration documentation states this:
OAM_SERVER_VERSION: 11g (use 10g if Oracle Access Manager 10g is used)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27559_01/integration.1112/e27123/oim.htm#CACFCJHI
Under chapter 2.4.5 in the idmConfigTool documentation it's described like this:
OAM_SERVER_VERSION: Required only when Access Manager server does not support 11g webgate in Oracle Identity Manager-Access Manager integration. In that case, value should be provided as '10g'.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27559_01/integration.1112/e27123/idmcfgtool.htm#CIHCICHD
When we ran the script, we had the value set to "11g" (because that's our OAM version)... now I'm wondering if I need to set this value at all..

    Welcome to the forum.
You can easily look up the error messages in the Oracle Online Documentation @ http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/homepage
Just enter the error code, and you'll get the cause and action, for example:
TNS-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
Cause: The address specified is not valid, or the program being connected to does not exist.
Action: Ensure the ADDRESS parameters have been entered correctly; the most likely incorrect parameter is the node name. Ensure that the executable for the server exists (perhaps "oracle" is missing.) If the protocol is TCP/IP, edit the TNSNAMES.ORA file to change the host name to a numeric IP address and try again.
It looks like you'll have to edit your tnsnames.ora, and also check if your listener is running.

  • OBIEE 11g ODBC connectivity error

    Hi all,
I am getting the following error when I tried to access a simple query through Answers.
"*Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).*
    *Error Details*
    *Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P*
    *State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. *SQL Issued: SELECT s_0, s_1, s_2 FROM ( SELECT 0 s_0, "BISample"."Product"."BRAND" s_1, "BISample"."Target"."REVENUE" s_2 FROM "BISample" ) djm*"
    What I did was
    1. Create a DSN 'orcl', 32 bit Oracle ODBC driver. Tested and worked against the Oracle database.
    2. Import metadata using Local, ODBC 3.5 and DSN = orcl
    3. Build a simple BMM and subject area
    4. In the phyiscal layer, right click on a table, and select view data/update row count. Error with message "The connection has failed"
    5. Hoping for the best, create a simple query in answer and got the above odbc driver error in results tab.
Interestingly, if I edit the connection pool and use OCI (my SID is also orcl), then everything works fine.
I'm new to OBIEE and hope someone can tell me if I have missed a step or make any mistakes!
    Thanks!

    Hi All,
I am able to connect SQL Server database with OBIEE 11g RPD offline and imported metadata and verified update row count/view data but when i was trying to publish the same RPD the data is not returning also "update row count/view data" is giving and error "The connection has failed."

    OBIEE 11g/WLS 10.3.3/Oracle database 11g installed on RHL 5
Client tools are installed on local Vista 32 bit system.
Oracle database is working fin, where as SQL Server is giving issues.
You want me to create a ODBC connection in RHL 5 server to connect to SQL Server ? i am little bit confused here how to create !
same time i have created ODBC for oracle apps database and imported and able to view data in RPD when i am in Online mode.
When i open RPD in online mode and trying to import the data i dont have access to local machine ODBC's which is expected and if i change to "Remote Server" nothing is showing here.
Appreciate your comments on the above.
    Thanks

    Hello,

I've checked the configuration and there is nothing wrong with it, plus I have checked connectivity from the weblogic server and the Linux server to this. Also I do not have Enterprise edition everything I do is at console level in Linux.
Please help. I've been trying to sort through this for a long time.
    Thanks.

    Becky,
You need not do any thing additional to have EM running in the OBI 11g instance. Although it is a deployed JEE application, if your Weblogic Server (WLS) is started and up and running then your EM Console should also be up and running.
You say that you are doing everything from the command line. So, start the Weblogic Server then navigate to http://< your server name> : 7001/console
If that comes up then go to
    http://<your server name>:7001/em
That is your EM Fusion Console and it should come up as well.
Don't mess with the XML file directly.

  • OBIEE 11g Map Visualization Error - basemap is defined in spatial meta-data

    Hi All,
I have installed OBIEE 11g successfully on my Desktop Machine, deployed the Sample Applications regarding Mapviewer and its working fine. I have seen all the Maps and they are running fine in fact they are editable and i can easily do anything with those Maps but,
    The issue is that when i am going to create a new Report and try to integrate Map on it then it shows an error as display below;
A basemap is required to render a map. Please ensure that atleast one basemap is defined in the spatial meta-data
    Error Details
    Error Codes: EMGUNIA3
    Location: saw.views.evc.activate, saw.httpserver.processrequest, saw.rpc.server.responder, saw.rpc.server, saw.rpc.server.handleConnection, saw.rpc.server.dispatch, saw.threadpool,

I have also followed this link ( http://erpthings.blogspot.com/2011/01/obiee-11g-inbuilt-mapping-and-spatial.html ) but it is also stuck on the same error at the end.
I didn't understand the problem why its giving an error like this while the Sample Application worked fine so, if there is any way to define a basemap in spatial meta-data plz guide me OR
Is there any way to integrate Map with OBIEE 11g ?
    Cheers,
    Masood.

    This question has been solved!
Basically you need to ensure the database schema where the data source (Navteq) has been imported must have the privilege "Create Type"
This comes from the Oracle manual extract as shown below:
1.4.4.3 Creating MapViewer Array Types, if Necessary
For each database schema that it connects to, MapViewer checks for the existence of
the following SQL array types that support array-type binding variables that might
    exist in some predefined themes:
    ■ MV_STRINGLIST
    ■ MV_NUMBERLIST
    ■ MV_DATELIST
If these types do not exist, MapViewer attempts to create them in the database schema
associated with the MapViewer data source. However, if the user associated with that
schema does not have sufficient privileges to create new types, a privileged user must
create the types by connecting to the data source schema and entering the following
    statements:
    CREATE or REPLACE type MV_STRINGLIST as TABLE of VARCHAR2(1000);
    CREATE or REPLACE type MV_NUMBERLIST as TABLE of NUMBER;
    CREATE or REPLACE type MV_DATELIST as TABLE of DATE;
    Cheers.

    Hi,
I think these is a problem with your connection pool name, please check it. It's a name of connection pool in BI administrator.
if it's not problem, Can you try my way, replace '@{c1}', '@{c0}' by @1, @2...with 1,2 is a number of column in Criteria.
    It's my template :

  • Migration of  ADF 10g application to ADF 11g(Portlet Customization Error)

    Hi,
Currently we are doing a migration of ADF/Webcenter 10g appication to 11g(11.1.1.6) and in the current 10g application portlet is used which contains the file based content and can be customized using a specific role say(admin).
We have almost done the migration using the Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 and most of the pages along with the portlet content are coming similar to the 10g look and feel but whenever we want to do portlet customization using the specific role we are getting the below exception. The content is file based system and the details of the versions are as below
    10g Environment:
    OC4J version. Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.5.0)
    JDK version- java version "1.5.0_06"
    Webcenter and it’s version : Webcenter 10g(10.1.3.5.0)
    ADF version. Oracle ADF 10g
    Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3.0
11g Environment: Currently I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 with Integrated weblogic server
    webcenter extension used: oracle.webcenter.framework_bundle/oracle.webcenter.customization_bundle
Error which I am getting during portlet customization:

  • Soa Suite 11g DbAdapter invocation error message

    Hi All,
Morning,...We are trying to make connection to Oracle 11g database using Db adapter in Soa 11g but getting this error message during invocation :
Database platform org.eclipse.persistence.platform.database.Database Platform is not supported ..An attempt was made to use an unsupported database platform
    Steps mentioned here :
1.Creation of the Data Source - general tab:
    Name: demo
    JNDI Name: jdbc/demo
Under the Connection POOL tab : enter the url & also mention the driver class name : oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver, enter the user login details/pwd etc.
    2.
Deployments --> DBAdapter --> Configuration --> outbound connection pools -- here created a new entry with Connection Factory name :javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory
JNDI NAME : eis/DB/demo --> Then SAVE it.
Now click this JNDI entry again created in Step # 2 above --> Properties tab -->
    enter the dataSourceName : jdbc/demo
platformClassName : Now could someone please let us know what exactly do we need to mention here ?_
Currently this value is null/blank, could this be the reason why we are getting this error message and how could we resolve this ..
    With Regards

    Hi,
    Put the jdbc/demo under xADataSourceName.
The value for platformClassName is: org.eclipse.persistence.platform.database.Oracle10Platform
After each value you enter, press ENTER. In the end save.
Don't forget to redeploy the DbAdapter - check this box under deployment and press the update button.
