12505 Error while establishing Connection

When i right click on the database n click new connection, its asking for database name(i gave it as ora ,the same as database name while installing 10g).in the next step its asking for username and password(i gave it as scott and tiger). In the next screen it gave me SID as ORCL JDBC port as 1521.when i click next and then click test connection its giving me the error as
Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
localhost:1521:ORCL
Can anyone tell me whats wrong. Is that my fault or the database fault.......
Thanks in Advance

You can find the configured SID in the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora or in the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora.
From the Oracle DB documentation:
SID
The Oracle system identifier that distinguishes the database from all other databases on your computer. The SID automatically defaults to the database name portion of the global database name (sales in the example sales.us.mycompany.com) until you reach eight characters or enter a period. You can accept or change the default value.

  • Fatal error while filling connection pool

I was not getting a connection to an Oracle database and I was getting the following error in cms.log: "FATAL  Connector - Unable to create connection pool for T_Orbis_Oracle: Fatal error while filling connection pool for jdbc:oracle:thin:@MESDB:1521:ASPENB21" where T_Orbis_Oracle is the xMII link name and the database ASPENB21 is on server MESDB. I changed the database username in the link to SYSTEM and I then got a connection and a Created Connection pool message in the log. I then changed back to the username which originally was giving the error and it now also gave me a successful connection. I am now worried that there is an issue in the background which is gradually building up and will begin to fail again as previously. Can anyone explain what is causing this problem and suggest how I can correct it? Thanks, John.

    John,
Check you have installed the JDBC driver ojdbc14.jar (works for both 9 and 10).
    Also check the server package:
    MII 11.x--->ServerPackage com.lighthammer.Illuminator.connectors.IDBC
    MII 12.x--->com.sap.xmii.Illuminator.connectors.IDBC
Carefull when you set up the string because some oracle databases have servicenames instead of SID, and the url was different if you use them instead of the SID.
For services names the url is jdbc:oracle:thin@host:port:SID
Also check your Network firewall between MII and DB and ports too.
Oracle9i installs with a number of default accounts. You must unlock all other accounts before using them. Oracle recommends changing all user passwords immediately after installation.

  • DB Connect Error while establishing secondary Database DB2 in mainframe sys

    Hello,
I am trying to establish a secondary database connection between my ECC system and a mainframe system.
In my SAP system, the database is Oracle and version is 10.2
I want to connect to a mainframe system DB2 (AS400).
I have installed DB2 client in SAP server.
I have checked the access to Mainframe system from DB2 client.
I have made the entry in DBCON table via t-code DBCO, which looks like this
    AS4_HOST=<ip_address>;AS4_DB_LIBRARY=<LIB_NAME>;
But when I run, the std program ABCD_TEST_CONNECTION, I am getting error
    Secondary DB connect FAILED!
    Some doubts:
    1) From an Oracle Database point, is it required to login to sqlplus and create a database link between Oracle Database and the Mainframe Database?
    2) Is it required to have an entry in SM59, which connects the Mainframe system, if so what type of connection & name?
    3) If anyone has faced situation like this, can you share what steps were taken to resolve the error?
If this is not the forum to post this question, can you suggest the correct forum?
    Regards,
    Vikas

    Hello Prem,
I have established connectivity with Mainframe via DB-Connect.
    THe steps are
    1) Make entry in DBCON table
    2) Install DB2 client in SAP-Server
    3) There are some jobs which needs to be run in Mainframe system. The job name was mentioned in one of SAP notes.
If you are facing problems after this, just check SAP version and patch installed.
    Regards,
    Vikas

  • Error while importing connections back into SQLDeveloper 1.5

I have the XML export file from version 1.2 which is erroring out while getting imported to version 1.5
The following is the error message:
"No connections are defined in c:\SqlDeveloperConnections082404.xml"
The export file contents look readable and apparently nothing is wrong with the SQLDeveloper installation.

This still doesn't work, for me. I'm importing from 1.2.1 and get this error: "An expected error was encountered trying to export the connections." This message is confusing in two ways; 1) Why is the error expected? and 2) I'm not trying to export, I'm trying to import.

  • Error while wirelessly connecting Photosmart C5280 to Apple Macbook

I have a Photosmart C5280 All-in-One connected to my PC computer. While trying to wirelessly connect my Apple Macbook to the printer this error occured: Cannot Connect to the Printer Using the Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit Connection Manager in an Infrastructure Network
    How do I fix this?

No - it won't work - AppleTV gets it's data via iTunes.
iTunes fetches data from wherever it is be it attached/internal/network drive, then relays it across the network to AppleTV.
Being able to access an iTunes style library on a NAS or similar would be great in principle but it's not possible in practice.

what i meant was have you deployed the proper jar file(driver file) in the .sda file in using SDM......your driver parameter is fine just check this below
download the jdbc driver from url http://download.softagency.net/MySQL/Downloads/Connector-J/
(mysql-connector-java-3.1.14-bin.jar if you are using mysql 4.0)
    the  your parameter in Dapter
    DBC driver: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.sqlserverdriver
    connection: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://ip:port;databasename
    also check this
tther option is download JDBC Driver from Microsoft Website
